Just wrote a long message on the old thread only to have it not post because we'd filled it.

We really ought to do less chatting and more sleeping Wink

I've not stopped thinking about her all day.

Puggle sorry the solo nursery hour didn't go well. Hopefully he will get used to it soon enough. How cute saying Mum. S says 'dada' but that's about it, even though I keep saying 'mummy' to her constantly!

Sunshineseeker80 · 12/12/2014 04:05

Oh god, Just logged in to catch up and can't believe the news about Becca. So so sad, and shedding a tear thinking about her family right now. Big hugs to all the Jan babies tonight.

Puts a lot of the things I came on to moan about into perspective, so will leave it at that for today.

Naturegirl82 · 12/12/2014 08:23

Felix I was the same. Just really feel for her family, especially at this time of year.

Bambooshoots14 · 12/12/2014 20:14

So sad. Really puts everything into perspective :(

FelixFelixNavidad · 13/12/2014 13:33

Has anyone got any nice plans this weekend? I'm going to make some mince pies but that's about it.

Naturegirl82 · 13/12/2014 14:53

Sounds nice Felix.

I'm trying to put up the curtain rail in O's room but the walls are so hard the drill is struggling and I'm having to sit down regularly so it's slow progress. I'd forgotten how knackering these first 12 weeks are!

Naturegirl82 · 13/12/2014 19:10

Well it took me all afternoon and a broken drill but but O finally has curtains. Not sure when my life became so exciting though that I spend Saturday nights ironing curtains! Hmm

FelixFelixNavidad · 13/12/2014 19:17

Well done. I bet you're knackered!

TobyLerone · 13/12/2014 19:52

For future reference, nature, fix a wooden batten to the wall with No More Nails first, then fix the curtain rail to that.

We bought a Christmas tree today and decorated it. We also let M choose a tree decoration. She can choose one every year and then when she's an adult she can put them on her own tree.
I also spent much of the day (and all of last night!) arguing with DS. I grounded him today for a school-related misdemeanour, and he was Not Happy. Tough shit, I say! :o

Toby that's a really good idea re choosing decorations! I may have to steal it.

TobyLerone · 13/12/2014 20:21

Go for it :o

OP posts:
Naturegirl82 · 13/12/2014 20:47

Thanks for the tip toby but you would be able to see the wooden batten because of the way the window is and it's a metal curtain pole so would have looked odd. It's done now at least.

O had a ridiculously late nap so is still up. Dh tried to put her to bed earlier but she wasn't having any of it so is currently totering round the living room in her sleeping bag.

I also like the Xmas decoration idea.

TobyLerone · 13/12/2014 20:53

I've always just painted the batten the same colour as the wall, so it's not really noticeable.

OP posts:
Naturegirl82 · 13/12/2014 21:27

That would work but it's wallpapered. It's just our stupidly strong walls. Even the internal ones are the same. At least it's unlikely the house will fall down.

AnotherStitchInTime · 13/12/2014 21:40

Just found you all again.

So sad to hear about becca :( Wonder if we can send her family something to let them know we are thinking of them, you know like they do with the blankets, except I am shit at knitting. Any ideas?

Been working and juggling sick/teething children, so not much time to MN. Hope all are well and feeling festive. Haven't sorted Christmas decorations for our home yet, but work has made up for it with a full on Frozen theme and 3 trees!

Dd2 has her operation on Tues. Needs to happen now as she is having asthma attacks and apnoea at night, very scary.

Naturegirl82 · 14/12/2014 08:01

Interesting night here last night. We sort of started following the sleep training thread (had meant to wait till xmas). Put O to bed and it took her about 10 mins to drop off. Woke at 12.30 and I gave her a quick feed (much less than I usually would) and back in bed awake and again 10 mins for her to go to sleep. She then woke at 4 (when it is usually ridiculously difficult to get her back down) and I thought I'd give her a few mins before getting out of bed into the cold going back in and she had settled herself back down in less than a minute without any help!!! Shock And she is still asleep now. Amazing. Not going to get my hopes up it will happen again but best nights sleep Dh and I have both had for ages Grin

Naturegirl82 · 14/12/2014 08:32

She slept till 8.30!! I think the blackout curtains may have helped that!

Bambooshoots14 · 14/12/2014 09:27

Great news nature

Also meant to say that's amazing book hope it's happebed again and if not at least you know she can do it :)

BookTart · 14/12/2014 14:58

That's great nature! I hope she does it again tonight :)

Yes bamboo, she's slept through four times in the week since I moved out of her room. It's great, I even went out for a meal and a drink with a friend in the week - first time since before she was born :D She does wake at 5.30 though, but hopefully that will stop in time and I can deal with it until then. The very best bit is that so far only DH can resettle her, so he's been doing it all. I feel slightly bad, but given the months I spent not sleeping it might be time he chipped in! We're off to the in-laws this weekend though and she'll be in a travel cot in a strange room. I'm panicking a bit that it will all be ruined...

Is everyone ready for xmas? I am very definitely NOT!

Bambooshoots14 · 14/12/2014 16:12

Woo that's great, you must feel amazing!

I was really organised but this week has really thrown me off track and spending today prepping for a second interview I've got tomorrow s o no time for christmas anything. Got Wednesday off though then finish work on Friday so plenty of time (hopefully)

FelixFelixNavidad · 14/12/2014 16:13

Another I was thinking the same but wasn't sure how we would go about it. Good look to dd2 for her operation. Sleep apnea sounds terrifying.

Nature that's brilliant. I think it's because she doesn't want to leave her lovely new room Grin

Book that's great news, I'm really pleased for you. Also YAY to going out with a friend! I'm a tiny bit jealous.

We are all ill here (I am soldiering on though and haven't sat down all day.) S is sleeping brilliantly but not sure if it's just because she's ill. Shes been waking at around 10.30 and 2.30 and sleeping until 9!! A couple of nights she's only woken up at 2.30 and gone straight back to sleep. DP has mentioned that I am a completely different person after having more sleep (I'm incredibly grumpy after being woken up hourly, surprise surprise).

I'm super prepared for Christmas! I have wrapped all presents, all the decorations are up, Christmas cake is well fed and ready to ice next week. I'm being a smug bastard as I've just got my first batch of homemade mince pies out of the oven Grin I've even made loads of decorations for S's birthday next Sunday Shock I am not usually this organised, honest.

TobyLerone · 14/12/2014 16:30

Yay for the good sleepers!

DD1 will be back for a few days next weekend and I'm dreading M going in the travel cot in our room so that DD1 can have M's room. She's doing really well with the GR and she's sleeping better throughout the night because of it. I hope it doesn't set us back too much.

I've got all of the presents bought and most of them wrapped. Got to buy the veg for Christmas dinner but am fairly organised, for once! Cake is made and ready to be iced.

TobyLerone · 14/12/2014 19:56

Aaarrrggghhhh! This is gross and TMI but it's driving me insane.

Every time we put M down in the cot, either for a nap or at bedtime, she does a poo and I have to get her back up and change her. It's quite genius that she's worked out that it buys her some time, and that she can do it at will, but it's SO ANNOYING!

I can't imagine there's any way of stopping her, either. And we're going through twice as many nappies because we usually only use disposables at bedtime. Grrrr!

OP posts:
FelixFelixNavidad · 14/12/2014 21:04

Haha Toby, I'm sorry for laughing but that is quite funny Grin TB!

I have no idea how you can stop her doing it. S always waits until she's got a fresh nappy on before doing a poo. It irritates the life out of me.

FelixFelixNavidad · 14/12/2014 21:11

Oh god S is now back downstairs with us as she's wide awake. Trying to tire her out. I want to go to bed Confused
