Comfort milk has been great for DS :-)

I am having a teat issue...DS is finding size 4 teats too slow. I know comfort milk is thicker but DD was on size 4 when she was weaned and beyond. DS has been on size 4 for a month already, argh!! Any ideas out there?!!

misog2000 · 09/12/2014 20:23

Em has green poos from comfort milk too. Her reflux is so much better now, she's completely off the gaviscon and I've been able to put the head of her bed down one click, which means she doesn't wake me up in the night cause she's slid down into a heap at the bottom of her cot anymore.

I'm being a bit naughty and mixing a couple of scoops of hungry baby milk into her bedtime bottle with the comfort milk to try and get her in the habit of sleeping a bit longer at night, I'm back to work for 2 weeks over Christmas and new year (kit days as my boss is on holiday and I'm her deputy) and I know I won't manage if I don't get a bit more sleep. She's drinking plenty during the day so I don't think it will hurt her to sleep an extra couple of hours at night.

I'm starting the Juice Plus diet next week to try and lose the baby weight, I'm finding that I dont have time to make decent lunches etc at the moment so I'm eating crap, hopefully this will stop me doing that and means I can still have a normal dinner with hubby at night.

Hope all the poorly bubbas feel better soon x

Acorncat · 10/12/2014 06:54

DS's breathing got worse in the night so took him to OOH doctors and has bronchiolitis. No treatment required but still a worrying time when he can't breathe properly and is barely feeding Sad

TeamEponine · 10/12/2014 07:30

Acorn, that must have been scary Sad Hope he starts to recover quickly.

holls2000 · 10/12/2014 07:43

Acorn you poor thing, they don't half like to scare us, these babies. Hope you are ok.

Honeybear30 · 10/12/2014 08:00

Oh no acorn :( hope you are ok, you must have been scared.

KitKat1985 · 10/12/2014 08:33

Oh Acorn. Poor you and your DS. Hope he gets better soon. Flowers

cookielove · 10/12/2014 09:29

Oh how worrying for you acorn fx he starts feeling better soon.

Acorncat · 10/12/2014 09:32

Thanks, he's been sleeping for a few hours and breathing seems a bit better, it's worse when he's awake and getting upset.

That's the third time I've phoned nhs24 and they're always helpful, it's good to have 1 number to call rather than trying to figure out whether to call gp or which hospital.

Hope he is feeling better soon Acorn.

FATEdestiny · 10/12/2014 14:14

My DS2 had bronchiolitis when he was 4 weeks old, a week before Christmas. We spent a week in hospital with him on oxygen. We were discharged on Christmas Eve and he got better quite quickly, thankfully.

Nazly · 10/12/2014 14:27

Oh Acron hope it goes away quickly...

What are the symptoms?

Ds is still sick and can't get rid of diarrhoea and cold symptoms are still here but slightly less than before. But we are literally back to changing unit within a few minutes of changing him :( he is also feeding less so am keeping an eye on dehydration...

Acorncat · 10/12/2014 17:57

Can't decide if he's worse or not, when he's sleeping his breathing is pretty much normal but then he's awake it's really quite wheezy. I wish I could check his oxygen levels from home! I've read of so many babies needing to go into hospital, just don't know when/if to make that call Sad

His symptoms are basically a cold (cough and snotty nose) but also little appetite and wheezy breathing.

Nazly · 10/12/2014 22:18

Acron I have that constant dilemma myself, all the time; so no help here but I found this link generally useful
www.askdrsears.com/topics/health-concerns/childhood-illnesses/coughs-colds-sinus-infections/signs-cold-should-be-evaluated

I guess in your case I would take him if he was unhappy or struggling

Acorncat · 10/12/2014 23:22

Thanks for the link, that's reassuring Smile

CumbrianExile · 11/12/2014 15:32

How is he today Acorn? Its hard to know whether to take them to the doctors or not, you don't want to seem like you are over-reacting, but babies can't tell us how serious it is.

A was in a lot of pain these last few days with his teeth. Seems to be better today, but the calpol and bonjela saw a lot of use Grin.

holls2000 · 11/12/2014 15:55

acorn hope all ok today.

just out of interest how much do your lo's sleep during day? B has started being awake 6.30-11/12 ish with various 10 min naps then aleeps from about 12.30-1.30 and then from 2.45 till 4.15ish. then is generally awake till bed time routine starts at 6.30. too much? too little?

RedToothBrush · 11/12/2014 18:40

Holls, I think DS is a lazy little monster. He's currently asleep (in his bouncer, with his arm though two rings gripping one of his hanging toys with an iron grip). He wakes at 7.30 feeds and then goes back to sleep at 8.15 until at least 9.30. He does 45mins around 11am. Then another 45mins at 1pm. Then another at 3.30pm.

He had been staying awake until 8.00pm before crashing out until 10pm. But he seems to have acquired another nap at 6pm for the last couple of days, and then crashing out after a feed at 9.30pm.

I'm a bit stressed again over feeding as he's dropped to the 9th centile and I'm struggling with expressing again. I have a supply but I'm not getting as much as I was. I've been told to up his feeds by the HV but that's a bit useless as he's just not eating it. So I'm panicking a bit about what happens if his weigh doesn't pick up. I'm fairly sure its to do with teething.

I think I can see teeth today for the first time though. I'm kind of hoping and praying.

He got his appointment for his third set of jabs today too, which I'm a bit stressed about as its the Tuesday before Christmas. We are away the last week before Christmas to see my Gran (who lives at the arse end of nowhere and is a 5 hour drive. She hasn't seen him yet and is too frail to travel) And we have another two nights away for Christmas Day and Boxing Day with the ILs. We've had a weekend of hundreds of visitors which he struggled with, so I'm a little worried as it is.

He has also started being 'shouty' when he's tired. He's pretty 'chatty', and it seems to have developed from that. So he starts shouting rather than crying when he's tired. And he's only settling with his Daddy in the evenings since he started doing it. He's just shouting on me every evening if his Daddy is around, which is frustrating for both me and DH.

Acorncat · 11/12/2014 18:46

I took DS to gp this morning and his heart rate and breathing were too high so off to a&e we went (through a snowstorm). He seemed a bit better there and his oxygen levels were fine so we were sent home again. At least they don't treat you like you're overreacting. Said I might have to take him back tomorrow if he's worse.

Mine also shouts when he's tired now or if he's left by himself, prefer it to crying!

Honeybear30 · 11/12/2014 20:05

Glad those oxygen levels are good acorn.

DS is trying to break me I think. We were doing so well with nights, sleeping from 8-2 and then feeding at 5 and 7. Straight to sleep back after. I was managing fine. Until a few nights ago. Waking at 11, 1, 3, 5, 6 and so it goes on... Not even really wanting to feed. And when he does feed he doesn't go back to sleep. Is he trying to torture me through sleep deprivation? Every time I get even close to a deep sleep he wakes which means I haven't had any decent sleep for days. Tell me it's a phase. Pleeeeeease. I feel sick I'm so tired Sad

cookielove · 11/12/2014 20:33

honey they sadly do go through sleep regression how old is your lo?

Eli is occasionally sleeping through but is snotty and snoring lots which keeps me up :(

Jabs on Monday :(

Honeybear30 · 11/12/2014 20:38

He's coming up for 14 weeks. But 11 corrected. Thought it was a little early for regression but maybe not.

We had jabs today, last time just made him sleep so I'm hoping he might sleep a little better tonight. I'm going to bed as he is asleep now. I live in hope for sleep every night!!

holls2000 · 11/12/2014 21:21

honey we were doing those hours and I now apply dummy. has worked wonders. however he is now trying to find thumb so wakes up in rage if can't suck. which is annoying! !!
