Glad to hear Lil is doing so well YW, when was J's reflux and CMPI diagnosed? I'm planning to go dairy-free from 37 weeks and reintroducing it gradually a week or so after the baby's born.

The writer of Owl Babies lives near me and supposedly is inspired by his environs! Only found that out a couple of weeks ago.

Wandathewindfairy · 21/11/2014 15:34

Not enough hours in day today for all the things I want to do.

O has lost his Comfort dog. Properly lost. I need to order a new one. But when to get him from his lunch time nap he had DS1s comfort bunny. Ds1 had gone in and given it to him so he could sleep. Heart melt moment.

PetiteRaleuse · 21/11/2014 17:02

Still in huge amounts of pain. It has spread down into my throat, over my tongue and palate, onto my gums and I also have 8 blisters on my lips. I have been ill for over a week now and I am fucking fed up with it.

Dr confirmed it is not thrush after all but possibly herpangina (like HF&M but just in the mough) or possibly cold sores. She says I am very unlucky as either should have peaked by now and not still be fucking spreading. Says if it is not improving by Monday she is referring me to ENT.

I am so hungry I am craving all kinds of things I shouldn't eat. I want curry, and pizza, and raclette, and fondu, and pies, and rarebit. Anything anything anything other than the bits of soup and the odd slice of salmon I am managing. Even the things that don't sting hurt, as it is all open sores.

It has really brought me down I haven't felt so low since all the work stuff started.

StuntNun · 21/11/2014 17:19

Sounds horrendous PR, have you tried mouthwash to soothe it - I'm sure I've had something like that for sore throats before. Can you still get honey and lemon linctus like when we were kids?

Stunt I planned cutting at 36 weeks but she turned up at 35! Before I got pregnant I was dead set I'd cut it before the third trimester but once preggers and on a diabetes diet that idea was much less tempting! I cut it out on day 5 when we left hospital after Lil was refluxing so badly in hospital she stopped breathing 3 times. I figured midline defects are a good hint to go dairy free because of their links to CMPI and she had double crown, sacral dimple and tongue tie so figured its a given and the paed agreed especially with our family history. Paed advised to give her the first 3 months dairy and soy free to allow her gut to develop without damage and then trial. I'm going to have some cheese at Christmas. I fully expect her to react. I'll trial again every couple of months. I just don't want it to build up in her system.

Wandathewindfairy · 21/11/2014 17:44

pr sound awful. Have you got an equivalent to solpadine that you could dissolve and mouthwash with like stunt suggests. Xx

Elizadoesdolittle · 21/11/2014 17:59

pr that sounds horrendous. No wonder you're feeling down. Are you allowed Wine ?

StuntNun · 21/11/2014 18:14

Thanks YW. I've read up on the research and the evidence is actually against going dairy-free in the third trimester as it apparently makes CMPI more likely. This is why the recommendation to avoid peanuts during pregnancy was stopped, as it seemed to make peanut allergy more likely. So I would just want to make sure my breastmilk was free of CMP so that if there is an issue, which seems likely given the family history, then we can be in a better position to handle it this time. My last three arrived at 40+1, 40+1 and 41 weeks so I think I'll be fairly safe with this one's arrival!

PetiteRaleuse · 21/11/2014 18:26

I'm allowed wine or whatever I want. But I physically can't drink it as it would hurt too much. Even water stings.

I have mouthwash though it fucking hurts.

The Dr has given me anaesthetic gel and spray to use after meals when It hurts most. I had a go this afternoon and it was 15 minutes of heaven. When I started getting my feeling back I cried.

misslaughalot · 21/11/2014 19:22

Gosh PR that sounds awful, really hope it starts to clear up for you soon.

Wanda how thoughtful of your DS1, that would properly make me blub!

So S is now 11 days old and I feel like we've emerged from the haze of those first newborn days. O has become the ultimate big sister and showers him in kisses as well as keeping us updated as to whether he is awake or asleep, especially funny when we're in the car as she's the only one who can see him, so we get "he's awake!" when he opens his eyes and then 5 seconds later "he's asleep!"

He has jaundice and the MW sent us back to hospital on Saturday to get his blood level of bilirubin checked but he was below the level required for light treatment so they discharged us. MW came today and said even though the jaundice is improving if it's still there on Monday we'll be sent back to hospital for a prolonged jaundice test, so fingers crossed. He's taken to bf so easily though, I'm very lucky, and is already above his birthweight of 9lb 14oz as he's now 10lb 2oz.

Feeling very festive at the moment as we headed out to the Birmingham Christmas market yesterday after registering S's birth. Is it too early to put the tree up?!

BigPigLittlePig · 21/11/2014 19:24

PR hfam was the most painful experience of my life. I sobbed like a proper baby. And that comes from someone who rarely takes pain killers, and who gave birth on 2 paracetamol (unintentional I might add).

F is in bed. Her bed Shock Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 21/11/2014 19:49

Have to admit pig I have cried more this week over this than pretty much any of my surgery recoveries or even my back accident. Because for them painkillers actually did something. Nothing is helping this, though the Dr did, helpfully, say, ibuprofen would help, but I'm obviously not going to prescribe you that And I am also crying because I am soooooooo hungry.

miss yes it is far too early for the Christmas tree

Kyz · 21/11/2014 20:00

Evening everyone :) Gosh e has been a terror today, he was lovely for a month or two and seems to be slipping into terror-territory again! The throwing and smacking is coming back and he throws himself around too, he's so big and i'm finding him hard to control. Wondering if the whole naughty step idea will work with him. Does anyone do this? Or have any other ideas?

On the flip side he has been very sweet today. Out of the blue he lifted his top up, stuck his belly out and put his finger in his belly button and said 'bebeh' with a big grin on his face, so I smiled at him and asked if he had a baby too and he came trundling over, lifted my top and started looking in my belly button! Find behbeh, he said, and then gave me a hug and told me 'love oooo' and went off chattering. It did make me well up I have to admit, was very sweet :)

wow eliza 6 weeks isn't too long now is it? I don't mean to scare you, sorry, but how exciting!!

so glad L isn't suffering too much with her reflux yw, she sounds positively delightful too :) I agree you do paint a lovely picture :)

oh Wanda that is adorable!! Bless your DS1, what a sweetheart

pr that sounds unbearable :( I really hope you get better soon!

hi miss lovely to hear from you :) O sounds like she's being fabby with S :) very sweet! FX his jaundice goes away too :)

woohoo bp fingers very much crossed that she stays there :D

Passmethecrisps · 21/11/2014 20:21

Oh good grief! Every time I get beyond about 5 lines on here it freezes and I lose it all.

I shall try to be concise.

Massive hugs for you pr. Hugs and boiled egg chopped up in a cup.

You sound very contented miss. I love the sibling adventures of our wee November crew.

And I am watching with interest the chat about CMPI and reflux stunt and yw. I am now strongly of the mind that p did have reflux certainly but the CMPI was more gut immaturity which was resolved by going dairy free if that makes sense. I do remember being royally told off by someone for eating peanuts while pregnant and informing them that the guidance had changed from avoidance to exposure. Whether that is the same for intolerance vs allergy I have no idea. I am so pleased that little l seems to have avoided the worst after her initial frightening episodes. I keep meaning to leave work a touch early and pop round for a wee cuddle. I am sure everyone would understand!!

I was off work again today with a poorly p. She has been so up and down it has been so difficult to know whether to send her or not. She missed Tuesday, was sent home early both Wednesday and Thursday with high temp and coughed all night last night so I felt I couldn't possibly leave her at nursery. She seemed ok most of the day but early has a sore throat and is very hoarse. Her temp rose again this afternoon so she is clearly not shifting it yet. For the first time ever she napped in our bed. She is such a cot girl that I wasn't sure it would work but she was very good. I also sneakily enjoyed a wee bed cuddle

Passmethecrisps · 21/11/2014 20:21

^ not concise!

PetiteRaleuse · 21/11/2014 21:03

It is horrible when they are ill but there are some lovely cuddles and other mummy moments. DD1 is quite cuddly on her terms (lots of quick hugs and kisses every day) but last week when she was off school ill I asked her what she'd like to do and she said "a cuddle with my mummy who loves me and then all will be better". And we had a huge peaceful wordless cuddle on the sofa for ages.

And that never really happens when she is well. Obvs don't like either of them being ill but do secretly enjoy those little moments when only mum will do.

Elizadoesdolittle · 21/11/2014 21:06

miss hope the jaundice goes. I remember DD1 doing something similar in the car with E. It's so sweet.
I was told by a consultant that babies don't just have reflux. There is always an underlying cause.

Elizadoesdolittle · 21/11/2014 21:11

Ah bless your DD pr. My DD is not particularly cuddly and is always so busy running around there are no times for cuddly moments. So its actually quite nice when she's a bit under the weather and we have snuggle time.

Was actually having a nice calming bedtime here for a change when right at the last minute DD1 snatched something from E so E then bit her really hard. Sibling love at its best Smile

Passmethecrisps · 21/11/2014 23:00

Lovely!

P also not massively cuddly and strictly on her terms. She started crying a while ago and asking for daddy. She wanted "sitting with daddy on my sofa" She means her chair.

It is only a cold and she has had plenty but I have never seen her so fed up. Poor wee dote

Elizadoesdolittle · 21/11/2014 23:24

Poor little P. Hope she's back to her usual bubbly self soon.

Lily311 · 22/11/2014 05:58

Morning,

O is very cuddly at the moment, she seemed to pick up on my emotions and became clingy recently. When I ask her for a cuddle she comes and gives me a huge kiss on my lips, just love it when she does that.

miss hope the jaundice will go. I remember putting O by the window to get some sunlight on her, she was touch and go as well but thankfully we didn't need to go into hospital.

I bought some lacing beads for O for her birthday and I have to say it's a huge hit. She can't do them by herself but she is trying hard. She is also very much into her wooden train track at the moment and I'm thinking whether it is a good idea to build that one up or she will get bored of it? She has the basic starter pack from Ikea.

YellowWellies · 22/11/2014 06:01

Miss 8 weeks in and Lil still has breast milk jaundice, beneath the treatment line, the docs tested billirubin again a fortnight ago and aren't worried. Just feed, feed, feed to flush it thru xxx

isles7 · 22/11/2014 08:07

Sorry p is so poorly pass, have work been okay about you taking time off?

S and o sound adorable together miss!

M has been camped under my duvet since 4am, hiding from the 'bad monkeys'. She is now screaming at me because I want paint her ducks (or hers, but she is only speaking to me through the bloody duck) nails red. It's going to be a long day.

isles7 · 22/11/2014 08:08
