That's pretty much how it is RTL!

ELF1981 · 09/11/2006 13:37

hi all

Glad everybody is having a good time!

Just found out that a boy at my CM has chicken pox, anybody know how long it takes for the spots to appear, so I know when I can count Evelyn as being safe!

notsonervousmum · 09/11/2006 16:23

chicken pox usually has a 12-14 day incubation period before the spots appear. Once the spots come out and have properly scabbed over, its no longer contagious (according to my DP!)

RedTartanLass · 09/11/2006 19:04

Oh elf you're having a crap week aren't you?

RedTartanLass · 09/11/2006 19:10

Forgot to ask, is anyone's LOs really having a bad time with their teeth. Poor wee dd is screaming the last 3 mornings at about 4am and is clutching her wee cheeks.

They're not red, she isn't hot and she doesn't have a dodgy bum. All her normal teething signs, but she is in some pain, poor wee pet lamb. Grizzly and bad tempered during the day as well.

She's got about 50 million teeth so I assume it's her molars. Anyone any ideas? At this age ds2 only had about 4 teeth so I can't compare, and ds1 was 20 years ago, so no chance of remembering in!!

ELF1981 · 09/11/2006 21:03

Evelyn has been having trouble with her teeth at the mo, her gums have almost doubled in size at the mo.

And she poops on the hour every hour at the moment and it stinks!

RTL - yeah, having a crappy week (mum had her operation yesterday as well) but hey ho, shite happens and I'm trying to be upbeat & jolly!!

mawbroon · 10/11/2006 08:47

RTL - Johnny's molars came through last week after weeks and weeks of swollen gums and pain, but not any other symptoms. I was just free with the Nurofen which did seem to help a bit. Poor wee Scarlett.
I hope things start going well for you soon Elf! Hopefully Evie won't have caught the chickenpox.
Johnny clapped his hands yesterday for the first time. I was thrilled, and strangely enough, I was more thrilled by this than I was when he started crawling. So now he has been clapping his hands at every opportunity - including lying breastfeeding in bed with me this morning. It was sooo cute.
My mindees mother has really pissed me off (again). I have contacted her three times since I got back from holiday to find out what is happening re her kids and she hasn't got back to me yet. I bet she phones later this morning expecting me to get them from school and nursery. Fine, no problem, but you could have let me know two days ago. I really am going to give her notice this time and being so reasonable, I am going to look after her kids until Christmas even though I am only obliged to give four weeks notice. If she doesn't phone me, I am really tempted not to turn up to collect the kids, but of course, it would be the kids that suffered if I did that , so I wouldn't do it.

ELF1981 · 10/11/2006 17:19

oh MB, sorry that you're not having a good time with your mindees mum
Wishing you some nice mindee parents for the new year

mummylovesus · 11/11/2006 12:59

Hi everyone and a very belated HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY.

Still no computer in my house so just popping on when I get a chance. I hope you are all well and those babies are now toddling and keeping you all very busy and active because my little handsom monster sure is. He has a smile that would make you want to pick him up and squeeze him forever and a temper that would have you locking yourself in a room ha ha ha!!!

He is walking with his new clark shoes but not quite confident to let go but now doesnt want to crawl because he wants to be on his feet so I just walk about all day with a one year old!! (skinny days here I come)

I would love to keep up to date with youe all so much more especially mb rtl yf elf and nm as you guys are the ones I remember the most from those early days when life seemed to much harder through those tired eyes and I hope that life seems as easy as mine does now for you!!

Must ask is anyone expecting any other additions to their wee families?? Dont worry I'm not and I tell you I'm considering being sterilised so that's a definate, the only things that stops me is it would be so sad never to have another wee baby, awwwwwwww!!!

Anyway dh and I are still seperated but working towards getting back together (if he behaves himself and the weight doesnt drop off and some hansome hunk beats him to it - lol)

Cameron is a big well fed good eating boy - he loves his grub and I'm happy to say his sleep!! Sometimes I have to put him to bed at 6pm as he gets so tired and thats him through till 7am. He has dropped his morning nap this week so lunch is now back to 11.30am as he is tired by 12 and sleeps till 2.

He is adorable and I'm sure he will have me wrapped round his little finger but I am determined to have the same rules for him as I did for my little angel Jessica and if he turns out to be as well behaved, funny and loving like her then I am definately the luckiest mum in the world!!

Anyway must stop prattling on about my great children as next time I'm sure I'll be on boring you with them being little horrors it's only because I was out last night at my friends that I feel so refreshed!!

Will pop in again to see you all hopefully not as long the next time.

Take care

love Sharon xxx

mawbroon · 12/11/2006 20:23

HI MLU - nice to hear from you. Glad to hear that things are going well with both your LOs and well done to Cameron on the walking.
Aaargh, still haven't given the mindees mother notice. I called today to pin her down to a plan for the week as I have a million things to do and need to know when I am working. I haven't seen the kids for almost a fortnight and they were clammouring to speak to me on the phone. The 4 yo boy was asking how Johnny was and what he was doing etc etc. He then got his Mum to phone me back later so he could speak to me to tell me something else. I felt really bad at having thought about giving notice so have changed my mind. We will see how it all pans out from here until Christmas. Oh I'm too bloody soft.

notsonervousmum · 13/11/2006 16:22

oh dear Mawbroon, i hope you get everything sorted soon.

Well i saw my shoulder specialist today, and as expected, i will have to have an operation!. He wants to do it as urgent, but thats an NHS urgent, so i'll probably still be waiting in the New Year!!! At least it shouldn't interfere with the upcoming wedding.

RedTartanLass · 13/11/2006 20:28

mummylovesus - how lovely to hear from you, and fingers crossed that things start getting better for you.

I hope MB & Elf are having a better week, it must be really hard for you MB when you obvioulsy get on so weel with your mindees .

NSNM how's the building work getting on.

notsonervousmum · 13/11/2006 22:25

RTL - The old conservatory has been completely pulled down, and the new one has got all the brickwork up, they just need to put all the glass panels and roof on now. Not too much then!!!

mawbroon · 14/11/2006 13:28

NSNM - that seems like forever that you have had bother with your shoulder. I hope that an operation will improve things for you. These little ones are not getting any lighter!

Johnny has a favourite new toy today. He managed to get hold of one of his little plastic coathangers and hasn't let go of it since! It is one of the entirely plastic moulded ones rather than one with a metal hook on it, so I have deemed it safe enough and he can play with it for as long as he likes! He is currently rubbing it on the wooden floor obviously enjoying the swishing noise. He has been busy with it for 30 mins now!!

Yokefleet · 14/11/2006 14:32

Hello All, sorry not been about for a bit but its been mad here with everything!
mb Has Johnny settled down back to your usual routine now that you are back from Holland? LOL at the coathanger for a new toy, Thomas also loves playing with that and banging it against my bedroom mirror, makes a lovely sound!
nsnm Will you have all the work done on your house before Xmas or is that wishful thinking? Good to hear that something will finally be done for your shoulder
mlu Really good to see you back on the boards and glad that things are going so well for you. LOL at your remark about a "handsome hunk" I think we could all do with one of them
elf sorry to hear about your break in and I hope that Evies teeth are settling down now too.
rtl Hope your lo's teeth have settled down now too and no we aren't now planning on trying for No2 until Xmas 07 but I aren't on the pill so we will have too see what happens
Well I had better go as I am also looking after my 3yr old niece whilst my sis is at work and I think she may now be sat on Thomas's head!

OP posts:
Yokefleet · 14/11/2006 14:35

Nope it was the other way round, Thomas was sat on her head holding her hair in both hands riding her like a horse!!!!!! he is finally getting his own back!

mawbroon · 14/11/2006 15:14

Fantastic YF! Sounds like they are going to be great pals! And, yes, Johnny has gone straight back to sleeping through since we got back from Holland. Any time we are away, I try my hardest not to mess with his routine as it's just not worth it!
The coathanger fascination lasted a further 20 minutes, making 50 mins in total. He swapped from swishing it on the floor to banging it on the fireguard with extra added thrill when the coathanger hooked itself onto the grill of the guard. Now he's asleep after all the excitement!

ELF1981 · 14/11/2006 20:54

LOL isn't it interesting what they play with? Evelyn has loads of toys (my fave being her Amazing Animals train) but she still prefers to play with my pass swipe card for work!

Glad everybody sounds so cheery, I'm feeling a little better, if not tired at the mo what with work & college, not to mention chasing Evelyn around as she insists on running everywhere now - as soon as she sees an open space, she's off like a rocket!

notsonervousmum · 16/11/2006 09:13

Wow on the running! The quickest Joey can manage is a slow trot

He started with the childminder yesterday, just for a few hours to begin with. By all accounts, he was fine bar an initial few tears when i first left, and he practically ignored me when i went to collect him! Too busy playing with someone elses toys!

Hope everyones ok? Take care, NSNM x

ponto · 16/11/2006 14:38

Hi all, really enjoying reading about everyone's experiences, especially the coathanger mawbroon! Alice has fallen in love with a FiFi doll which she insists on holding at all times now. I'm thinking of going to buy some more of them in case it gets lost. She is walking more than crawling the last few days and is fine as long as she is carrying FiFi around, but if she hasn't got it she walks with her hands clasped in front of her then topples straight on to her face!

At last she is sleeping really well at night, started just before her birthday but now she regularly sleeps 12 or 13 hours at night. Long may it last! We're staying with friends the weekend after next and I'm really worried that she will go back to waking again. Oh well, at least I will have had this lovely month of sleep to look back on!

RedTartanLass · 16/11/2006 15:10

Hi ponto was just thinking about you the other day, wondering how you're getting on. You've got another LO the same as ages as my ds2 (3 in Feb), if I reember right. Do they 2 of them get on really well?

Yorkefleet - good to hear from you, never see you on MSM, have you changed your name?

ELF1981 · 16/11/2006 20:03

NSNM - glad Joey is enjoying the CM's
Ponto - Evelyn is also FiFi mad - you can get the little teddies at Asda quite cheaply
RTL - how are you?

Hope everybody is all okay!

ponto · 17/11/2006 12:11

Hi rtl, my dd1 will be 4 next April. She and her sister get on really well, now that dd1 has learnt to move her toys up on to the table if she doesn't want Alice to reach them. The favourite game was crawling races but now has progressed to walking races which produce screams of delight. All those of you with one baby, you must have another in the next couple of years, it's even better with 2!

Yokefleet · 17/11/2006 15:37

ponto sounds lovely! although we only have one at the moment my ds loves playing about with my 3yo niece and it is great to see them chasing up and down my hallway!
