Happy Birthday to Joey!

Oh and he can open the fridge now. Luckily I have a lock on it, but I hadn't been using it because my mindees are older and Johnny wasn't able to open it. All this, and there's more to come once he gets on his feet!!

notsonervousmum · 08/01/2007 21:25

Joey can open our fridge too, to the point that he's already sussed out how to remove the child lock

He was very cute earlier, and i was trying not to laugh given that i was telling him off at the time - he was pulling on the fire guard and banging it against the wall. I told him off (whilst explaining why he shouldn't do it, good mummy that i am), and whilst he was looking at me, he rolled his eyes just as DH does when i start ranting at him, as if to say "here she goes again"!! DH was ROFL, so i suspect he's taught him this new 'trick'! Note to self - must have a girl next time to even up the balance in our household

ELF1981 · 08/01/2007 22:41

PMSL about the rolling of the eyes!

I regularly find my fridge stuff in the washer, tins of beans in the fridge, washing in the cupboard... Evelyn demolishes everything!

We tried her on regular cows milk on Sat, then on Sun she did a poo, it was like something from a horror film - there was poo all up her back, to her shoulder blades, down her legs etc. DH and I were a cross between peeing ourselves laughing and gagging as we cleaned her up!

Me thinks we will be leaving the milk out for a while!!

mawbroon · 09/01/2007 08:28

Oh Elf, that's horrible!! Johnny is on some cows milk, but only maybe 50mls or so two or three times a day and the rest is breastmilk. Are you still bf?
NSNM - that's funny. It won't be funny for you when he does it for the zillionth time though!
Johnny is finally making an effort to stand up. If I support him under the arms and take some of his weight then he can do it just fine, but then his wee legs crumple if I put the weight back on when he is standing. It makes it sound like he is a heavyweight, but he's only around 24lbs which is 50th centile for his age. His Dad was a slow walker so I am not looking for him to be walking much before 18 months. That will build my muscles up, all that lugging him around. Oh my hipseat arrived and it is fantastic. My back troubles disappeared almost overnight, until I went daft and took him out in the backpack for two hours.....

ELF1981 · 09/01/2007 13:21

MB - Evelyn gets b/f in the morning and at night, other than that she drinks C&G growing up milk. I personally would prefer her to be on cows milk but she likes the C&G!

notsonervousmum · 09/01/2007 22:06

FWIW, Joey has issues with cows milk too - he will drink some, but only if its combined with formula as well. The best ratio i've got it down to so far is half and half. Any more, and he just refuses to drink it. Dont know why. Maybe the taste and/or texture is different?

Yokefleet · 10/01/2007 15:58

Hello all, haven't been having much time to get on here recently but things should settle down a bit more now as my niece who I look after most days has started going to pre-school from 8.50am until 11.30 which should give me chance to get on here again in the mornings
Re Cows Milk, Thomas has been on soley cows milk since his birthday, I think we had a couple of really stinking poo's on the first day but since then back to normal. Didn't seem to bother him at all.
NSNM pmsl at Joey rolling his eyes!
Ds hasn't yet managed to open the fridge but I bet he isn't far off!
Thomas is still really snotty but still making us laugh, today we were at my mums and my niece was in the bathroom and Thomas followed her in, went and got a single piece of loo roll and wiped his own nose! We said yay and clapped at him (half scared him to death!) bet he doesn't do it again am so glad I had witnesses.
Thomas's new fave thing is my printer, he stands and watches the lights flash for ages, yet was really un-impressed with the Xmas lights!
Better go I think someone needs a nap (yep me!)

v peed off today - my CM cancelled on me at the last minute this morning (bearing in mind Joey only goes to her once a week, so i can have physio and osteopathy on my shoulder). I phoned her last night to make sure it was still ok, as Joey has got a cold at the mo. She was quite happy to take him. Just as i was getting him ready to go out the door this morning, she phoned to cancel! V frustrating, as i had no back-up, so i had to cancel my appointments and am now in a lot of pain. I can understand she might not have wanted to take him if he's not well, but its the fact that she said it was ok on the phone last night. If she'd said no then, i might have been able to sort something else out! Deep cleansing breath....rant over. Incidentally, its the only time she's peed me off. Normally i think she's fab! NSNM x

ELF1981 · 11/01/2007 08:15

We have kept Evelyn off the CM's today, DH is off work with her - last night she woke about three, DH went in to get her and there was sick everywhere! We cleaned her up, took her in to our bed (she was shaking) and she lay on the bed with us, wide awake for about an hour and then promptly threw up. It was all over me, DH, she was covered head to toe, the bed was covered as well.
Sooo tired now, cant go to college to night as I'm shattered. But she fell asleep at five this morning and woke up at six, right as rain and has been running around and playing in the living room! So I'm hoping that's done now and is not going to last too long.

ELF1981 · 11/01/2007 08:18

NSNM - that's not good about the CM, did she give you a reason for cancelling?
YF - I wish Evelyn would blow her own nose!

mawbroon · 11/01/2007 09:01

NSNM- that was inconvenient for you re the childminder, but in her defence, if she's anything like me, she will have felt really bad about cancelling at such short notice. I had to cancel one time with less than an hours notice because Johnny did an enormous bout of diarrhoea up to his neck!! It was a dreadful bug and I would have felt even worse if the mindees had caught it. It cost me a weeks income as he was ill for a week and DH and I got sick too, so it wasn't just done at the drop of a hat. If that mother had phoned me the night before, I too would have confirmed that yes, I was still ok for the morning.
I am going to soft play with my mindees tonight after school as one of them has her 9th birthday today. I will quickly have to make a cake and decorate the living room too, so I'd better get off this darned computer!!

mawbroon · 11/01/2007 09:04

Elf - hope Evie is ok and that's the end of it. They really seem to spring back in no time don't they, despite appearing really quite ill.
YF - one of my mindees goes to nursery for those hours too and Johnny naps then as well - cue a cup of tea and MN

notsonervousmum · 11/01/2007 13:32

Elf - she just said she didn't want her son potentially getting ill as he's only just recovered from some bug or other, which i totally understand. As i said, i was just annoyed that she initially said she was ok to still have him! If i'd known in advance, i could have sorted out alternative childcare. Oh well.

Joey's hd a whale of a time this morning - i took him to play group with my friend and her son, and he loved it (especially pushing a dolls pram up and down!!)

Off for a pampering 'me time' facial this afternoon while DH babysits. Ahhhh bliss....!

mawbroon · 11/01/2007 17:07

Oh I can see why you are cheesed off about that NSNM. She had every opportunity to say no when you called the night before.
My mindees mother has annoyed me again! The afore mentioned birthday cake still isn't made because she called me (only after I sent her a text) to say that the kids were with their grandparents and weren't coming to me today at all. Ah well, bonus day off and only 6 more working days until I finish with them.
I just spent Johnny's christmas voucher on a lovely little wooden trike with a trailer. I know that he will turn it upside down and twirl the wheels in preference to actually sitting on the thing!!

Yokefleet · 12/01/2007 10:45

nsnm your post re: Joey and the prams made me laugh as I bought a little pram for Thomas yesterday from Tesco (only £1.98) but it has already paid for it's self he was running around with it all yesterday afternoon! its bright pink & purple (my little pony one) and he loves it! Only bought it because Thomas kept pinching my nieces little pram. better go catch up properly on Monday as dh is having a day off and we are going out to a dinner dance tonight which will be only our 2nd night out away from Thomas since he was born! Better go gotta find something to wear! Have a good weekend xxx

notsonervousmum · 12/01/2007 15:22

Well, Yokefleet, i must confess that i too went out and bought Joey his own pram after he seemed so pleased with the play group one. Its currently the most played-with thing he has Enjoy your night out. Still not had a proper one of those since Joey was born!

nannynickers · 12/01/2007 15:29

Hi ladies, only just came across this thread, have you been here since you were pregnant? Would it be ok to join you my dd was born October 28th 2005 would be great to chat with some people with LO's the same age!

ELF1981 · 12/01/2007 17:18

welcome to the thread nannynickers

Yokefleet · 12/01/2007 17:26

Welcome to the thread Nannynickers What is new with your dd? My ds Thomas was born on 03/10/05, and is into everything (except the fridge so far)
nsnm I sent my dh a little mini movie of Thomas playing with pram with my niece yesterday and he showed some of the other guys at work but he said he didn't want me to buy Thomas a matching pink dress to go with it!!
Am really looking forward to going out tonight, and as we don't need to leave until 7pm we get to put Thomas to bed as usual which is always nice.

Hi everyone! thought I had killed the thread for a while there!

Well what's new? My Mum looks after dd whilst I'm at work 3 days a week and this week she has taught her to do the actions to incy wincy spider! I nearly cried when I saw her it looks so sweet!

She has also learnt to say bay-bee to the doll that she got for christmas.

What about you???

ELF1981 · 12/01/2007 19:38

NN - the thread does go quiet every now and again but soon picks up again!

My dh has taught Evelyn to stick her tongue out sigh
It is sweet actually. If you do it back to her and stick your tongue to one side, she copies.
He also taught her a routine at time (when I'm at college) where she comes in, goes to the kitchen to get the cat food, takes it to DH near the door for him to feed the cat, then sits on the bottom step to have her shoes taken off, which she then puts away. Bless!!

joeysmum · 12/01/2007 21:10

welcome to Nannyknickers!

Thought it was about time for a name change, so i'm notsonervousmum any more

Have a good weekend all, JM x

joeysmum · 12/01/2007 21:11

Doh! that should have said "not 'notsonervousmum' any more" I'm sure you all got the gist though!

Yokefleet · 13/01/2007 09:31

NN my ds has started wiping his own nose with toilet paper which we find rather funny The words he says are mama, hiya, no & light and I am sure there are many more that I just haven't recognised yet.
Well we ended up having a really good night out last night, we went to a nearby village hall's "Strictly come dancing night" with a buffet too and it was a really nice night. All the men with suits with bow ties (dh looked v. James Bond ish) (gotta say that as he was stood over me as I wrote this!!)
Lots of shuffling going on from us but still good fun! The evening didn't start too well though as Thomas didn't settle in bed like normal and we had to go into him and pick him up to get him settled, he usually just rolls over and goes to sleep but last night just screamed his head off (somehow knew we were going out!)
Anyway better go and get some breakfast.

Have a nice weekend.
Hannah & Thomas xxx

Funnily enough I had a good night out Friday my cousins birthday so the whole gang was out and ended up gossiping like girls at his house until 5am!

Today dd has discovered that she can run, she is wearing the carpet threadbare and laughing to herself every time she does it!

I'm going to be out of action for a few days because I'm having my gall bladder taken out on Tuesday - fingers crossed things will go smoothly!
