Hey all! I appear to have definitely lost e's shoe. I can't find it anywhere and it's driving me barmy. I can't remember if I even mentioned I had lost it but there's really not many places it could be and I still can't find the bloody thing! I'm also going to whinge about the fact my ankle is killing me, and it is, it's so sore and i've no idea what i've done to it!

Oh poor j vq, norty little 4yo!

thanks pr last night was horrible, I feel so drained during the day and desperate for bed for about 7 but then I wake up and then even if I do bother to go to bed I can't get off till silly hours in the morning and it's just daft. I think I need to reduce screen time in the evenings again and see if that helps.

aww sounds like a nice first day back pass :)

sorry to those who had bad nights - hope you get more sleep tonight! did you get lots of sleep bp?

izzy it must be hard not to worry but I wonder if he'll do what stunts j has done? I bet one day in the not too distant future it'll click and he'll be talking your ear off!

glad you're enjoying your bread maker stunt, and love the pic of ds2 on facebook, looks like he really enjoyed it!

pikz bless you - i think it'll be harder for you than him as that seems the way of toddlers, i'm sure you'll really miss each other terribly BUT he'll be just fine, try to enjoy your time away if you can, easier said than done xx

LOL wanda reading your posts made me chuckle

ooh good luck with the gym pr :)

hope you get a better night tonight vq - e's speech is like how you describe J's, he talks an awful lot but not all is understandable. I think he knows what he's saying though!

He told me his ice cream was cold today. Normally cold things are hot. Any temperature extremes were hot but today ice cream was cold :) He also still answers blue if you ask him what colour anything is, but knows most colours because he'll tell you them when he sees fit. Just not when you ask. Odd boy!

Right. Bed with a kitten for some snuggling. I would've said pussy cat but I know what you'd all think!

Wandathewindfairy · 19/08/2014 21:14

I have had a look kyz but can't see the shoe anywhere here. Sorry. Sad

StuntNun · 19/08/2014 22:05

Kyz toddlers and young children understand the importance of conversation before they really understand why they're saying so they tend to answer you just for the sake of making conversation rather than to give the correct answer. That's why they say No when they mean Yes sometimes or you ask a three-year-old how old they are and they say 10. At this age context is very important so a toddler who is thirsty may well say Dink, but if you ask them if they can say drink they will shake their head. It really is fascinating how it all plays out.

I have a fab video of DD1 babbling on the phone to my mum at about this age. Complete nonsense but she knew what she meant. I'll look it up on the pc tomorrow and post it on fb.

Passmethecrisps · 19/08/2014 22:55

Evening!

I love toddler chat. And I want to see that vid pr. I gave p some strawberries in a bowl the other day. She asked for more and I said they had all gone. She promptly put the bowl to her ear and said "oh, hello, bawbreez. Blah blah blah. Ah bye" and handed me back the bowl.

She tells me chat about her day as well. Yesterday I got "daddy ah vroom. Teph. Bah bye daddy . . . " which roughly tanslated means I think daddy took me to CM the went away. Sadly I have no idea what else she says but she says it with earnest.

I LOVE the pregnancy analogy vq! Dd1 obviously has style. Poor wee dd2.

Your date with DS 2 sounded quite lovely stunt

That made me proper laugh wanda! I would have been right there with you.

You will be fine pikz. Try to enjoy the time if you can. Have a massage, go for a coffee that kind of thing.

Lily311 · 20/08/2014 04:52

I need your help quiche. 2 weeks ago on holiday O slept next to me in double bed mainly because there was no room for travel cot in the car. She slept well as long as I was next to her. Than we stayed with a friend for one night and she refused to go in the travel cot. Flew to London straight from there and she slept on double bed either with me or without depending where we stayed. now we are back at home and she refuses her cot or self settle. We have huge tears and clinginess, she is sobbing and does not want me to go. So I thought I could do the transition to her big bed but she doesn't stay there. She fall asleep there while I cuddled her but overnight she woke and would not settle just in my bed. I know she needs time to adjust but how on earth do I teach her again to self settle? and how do I teach her that Mummy's bed is a no go? This is the girl who always refused to sleep next to me. any advice appropriated.

kyz, check the buggy. I just found one sandal there.

some of you saw O singing Frozen let it go on fb, she is obsessed. She also sings do you want to build a snowman Smile .

BigPigLittlePig · 20/08/2014 05:19

Morning all. Rather abrupt awakening after dsd puked in her bed. At least F is still asleep.

Lily, I guess there will be lots of trips to and from your room - which is a horrid prospect from this side of that experience. Have you already got her big bed?

Me and dh went out last night, F didn't settle until 11 for my parents. Guess it's not just me she plays up then! Will be great to try to get back to a routine soon though, it is needed.

Donnadoon · 20/08/2014 05:29

pennie thanks for the update! glad M is doing well
We've got dds hearing test on the 8 th of sept, it's the first port of call before speech therapy apparently
izzy no leaps here yet! she says mam! no, a lot of animal noises and eyes and nose when pointing to them! and that's it! she did used to say the dogs name but seems to just point and laugh at him now Confused
Anyhoo the balls rolling, I wonder if the speech therapy will be as good as yours pennie I wonder...
kyz look under the sofa! things like that are always under the sofa Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 20/08/2014 06:19

More vom Envy. I really don't 'do' vom. Love her though, she's been excited to go swimming all week, and is asking what time we're going - errrrrrm....

Not sure how we'll manage the trip home if she carries on being poorly though

ValiumQueen · 20/08/2014 06:51

Bugger to fucking vom (sweary Wednesday) Thanks and Brew for you BP

Lily it is a case of keeping returning her. She will get it after a few nights. Now is as good a time as any to introduce a big girl bed, and it will be easier on your back too.

J will settle in his bed with some support from Daddy. If he wakes now it is usually for a good reason, so I bring him in with us to try to settle him. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. He did last night and slept until 6, on Daddy's head this time. Ironically I woke at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep.

Thanks for the reminder, VQ Smile

Fuck bugger and balls. And cuntweasels.

Always get a bit panicky with vom, usually I end up taking antisickness stuff myself as therein is the root of the problem - the worry I will get sick. Just didn't bring them with us. Shall pop to the chemists when it opens in an hour Grin

You wouldn't believe I do the job I do, really!

Wandathewindfairy · 20/08/2014 08:04

Are you off home today bp?

Just for a change more glossing today. Bear with me, this is going to take some time as I have the whole house to do. My plan of attack is to do downstairs a room at a time when O is at Nanny's and DS1 is at school Confused. And hopefully give all the downstairs doors another coat of varnishy stainy stuff. Then gave a break and do upstairs after Christmas.

BigPigLittlePig · 20/08/2014 10:32

Yep, Wanda. A crumpet has been eaten and stayed put, so we will wander to the play park in a bit I think. And take a bowl in the car just in case!

We have miles of glossing waiting for us at home, so I feel your pain. Quite like the smell though.

Wandathewindfairy · 20/08/2014 11:14

My grandad was a painter and decorator and the smell of paint needs the smell of pipe to go with!

Wandathewindfairy · 20/08/2014 11:15

And a plastic bag to carry the vom home in if need b.

ValiumQueen · 20/08/2014 12:37

I remember when I was a student nurse many many years ago, a kid on the ward threw up and I threw up on top of his mound. I am better with vomit now.

StuntNun · 20/08/2014 18:44

Aargh what has happened to the MN mobile site? I'm having to use the app instead.

ValiumQueen · 20/08/2014 19:03

Seems ok to me Stunt. Very quiet here though.

StuntNun · 20/08/2014 19:49

We need to start some chat. I was wondering how all the preggers quichelets are. Who's next, is it YW? I held an eight-week-old baby at a slingmeet yesterday and it made me feel broody all over again even though J is still only wee.

OP posts:
Wandathewindfairy · 20/08/2014 19:51

Who knew olive oil and a soapy cloth gets eggshell paint off leather.

Yep. I have had a day of it.

And a toddler who has worked out to pull the chair to the breakfast bar, get the gate opener. Go to the playroom to actually open the gates then go outside at the first opportunity and escape out of said gates.

Luckily he turned right, off to SILs back garden down the farm track rather than left to the road.

Headache.

Knackered.

Glad everyone is in bed and DH is not back from work. An hour of peace with GBBO.

Kyz · 20/08/2014 20:04

Evening all,

gosh i'm really tired tonight, can barely keep my eyes open! Hope you're all ok! Thanks for looking for the shoe for me wanda and thanks for the tips, I looked in the suggested places but still no shoe :( I am runing out of places to look. He had a phase of putting things in the bin, I really hope he hasn't binned it and i've not realised!

Ahh stunt that makes sense re babble! I do love it when he starts up, it's great

oooh lily do you have a video of that one too? I loved her singing let it go, I showed my mum because I thought it was so cute I hope that's ok Sorry i've no advice re the self settling but bless you I hope you sort it soon!

Hope you had a nice time bp?

Eek, good luck with all the glossing wanda I have taught myself how to tile. I think it looks ok. Passable. Messy stuff, tiling! I don't envy you all that glossing!

Think it's yw next stunt :) Exciting times! I am broody as anything but AF arrived for me yesterday so no second mini person just yet! I have a few friends expecting, I can't wait to snuggle a load of newborns!

YellowWellies · 20/08/2014 20:34

I'm due next I think - October 25th. Reckon s/he will make a September introduction though. Diabetes clinic today. Maaaaan I'm shit at the finger prick blood test. To do two readings I've used up 11 needles! My poor fingers Sad . Readings have been fine though after two weeks of not eating the sugary shit I've been craving He or she is still footling breech though! Envy

Wandathewindfairy · 20/08/2014 21:13

Have you seen the "I gace up sugar book" ? I am weirdly and masochistically tempted to get it.

ValiumQueen · 20/08/2014 21:18

I held a newborn the other day. I had forgotten how good they feel.

Bugger about the shoe Kyz. I have managed to lose two of the fuckers. I put them somewhere safe. At the moment he is having to wear sandals crocs (Poundland ones) or Wellies.
He doesn't mind.

I will be heading north with a selection of £1 crocs as they are just ace, and losing one is not the end of the world. Better than slippers IMO.

All kids now kitted out with 3 in 1 jackets and waterproof trousers. DM is on knitting duty, we all have Wellies and trapper hats, I have one mitten to find for J. I wonder if it is with your shoe Kyz?
