So quiet on here...

Pikz · 14/08/2014 15:28

Have set up a rainy day assault course round my house... No sure who is having more fun!

PetiteRaleuse · 14/08/2014 15:38

Been doing the dullest translation in the history of translation. Am trying to cut down but they keep bothering me as so many are on holiday and am so tired am seeing double. Hardly slept last night.

I hope the girls go easy on me tonight. Public holiday here tomorrow so a long weekend for them and DH. I am hoping for an early bedtime.

Nursery told me they wanted a doctor's note if I want them to keep DD1's naps down. Ffs. I hope she doesn't nap so much at school. There is a dormitory there but napping is optional I hope. Only a couple of weeks to go.

ValiumQueen · 14/08/2014 19:04

That is very cheeky of them PR!

I slept from 1.30ish. J woke at 3.15 and did not go back to sleep. Not a good night really Grin

Elizadoesdolittle · 14/08/2014 20:23

I am amazed and envious that your DD1 still naps pr. my DD1 had pretty much dropped naps by age 2 (bar the odd one here and there). E looks like she might be doing the same. She now only really naps in the car or in the pushchair if it's a long walk. I really want her to continue napping whilst DD1 goes to school and for when DC3 arrives otherwise I don't see myself ever getting a moments peace! Good luck with the translating and I hope you get some much needed rest.

I have got my 20wk scan tomorrow. Can't believe I'm half way already. This pregnancy is flying by. I need time to stand still for a bit.

Zamboni · 14/08/2014 20:47

Wow Eliza - 20wks already!

YellowWellies · 14/08/2014 20:49

Bloody hell Eliza that's FLOWN by!

I'm 30 weeks on Saturday. Other than the GD I'm finding this pregnancy much easier. Though my irritable uterus / freaky tightening that last for hooooours and are quite painful have started up in the last week (3 weeks earlier than with J), that and the sharp pains in my cervix and the fact this one is already engaged make me think s/he might be even more of a hurry than the bear. I'm having a diabetes growth scan tomorrow so I'm going to ask them to check if my cervix is effacing.

On that note - we've a WWYD dilemma. The body of our dear Orkney pal who was assumed to have thrown himself off cliffs three weeks ago was pulled out of the sea off Copinsay at the weekend, identified on the island rumour mill as him then and formally identified this week. His funeral is this Saturday. We really want to go. Buuuut we've just spent £500 on a trip to DH's parents and because we no longer get islander discount cards (VQ get yourself signed up asap) the flights will cost £631. Accommodation would be free as we've some lovely pals on the island. But we're not willing to book until we've got the all clear from my scan tomorrow afternoon as I'd be very scared of having a 30 weeker on the island. I missed the air ambulance last time - I don't want it this time. Waiting for the ok from my scan would give us just 4 hours to pack, drop off the dog and get to the airport so it'll be mad. Its a lot of money and obviously with maternity coming up every penny counts. That would be 3 months of CM fees for J Confused . WWYD go or not? We really want to let his poor family know how many people loved their wonderful boy Sad

Sorry that was long!

Wandathewindfairy · 14/08/2014 21:00

I can't believe you are already 20 weeks eliza and yes In The
Club was THAT depressing it made me feel really uncomfortable and I almost cried. And I am not pregnant though I am I between the girls going and a period So if you are going to watch it, hankies, chocolate, and anything else to make you feel comfortable. And remember is only tv.

Well. yw I think it depends whether you want to go for his family or for you. If you want his family to know, send them a card with a letter in explaining your pregnancy and stay put. If you need to go for you, then pack before your scan and get prepped so if they say yay ok you are ready to go.

Also yw something to note! they may give you a sort of " at your own risk" advice. Not saying yay or nay but letting you make the decision. I had that when I had a low lying placenta and I was flying a lot for work, when I had to get a letter from the gp to fly, they basically told me it was at my own risk but would not say no you can not or yes you can. So I told work I wasn't allowed to fly anymore.

PetiteRaleuse · 14/08/2014 21:28

Wow. 20 weeks! Half way there!

yw I am sorry about the loss of your friend. I would not go in your position. Risk vs benefit vs cost. No. Send a handwritten letter and think very hard about him at the right time.

When my dad died flights were going to be €850 each. I phoned my brother and listened in to the funeral and chatted with everyone after. Admittedly I was not close to my dad but the only person who my presence would really have affected was me.

I never travel back for funerals but a thoughtful phone call or letter is equally valuable ime.

Elizadoesdolittle · 14/08/2014 21:30

Thanks for the tip wanda. I think I'll keep at lighthearted programmes for now. Perhaps save that for when I'm up in the night feeding a newborn. Of course I won't be at all emotional then!

That's a tricky one yw. Could you do as wanda suggested and write a letter to his parents. I'm sure they'd really appreciate that. But do you think you'd regret it if you didn't go? Such a shame you don't have more time after the scan to make a decision.

Zamboni · 14/08/2014 21:45

Some good suggestions YW, if you can't/decide not to then a letter is a lovely idea.

BigPigLittlePig · 15/08/2014 05:04

Sat with F in our dressing gowns, and wondering whether it is too late for Wine or too early for Brew

Envy

Yw I would not go in your shoes, but as others have said, only you can know how important it is to you to be there. Fc scan is ok. Ditto eliza.

ValiumQueen · 15/08/2014 07:02

I would not go YW. I would locate any photos I had of him and get them printed, and write a heartfelt letter to his family with funny stories, touching memories etc. That is something that they would likely keep for ever, and mean more than you would ever know. I think you need to put the safety of you and your child first. Big hugs x

Wandathewindfairy · 15/08/2014 07:49

I like the photos idea. That is a really good one.

Morning everyone.

Another day running about the house chasing after O for me.

Wandathewindfairy · 15/08/2014 07:51

(((((bp))))))))) Brew and you have a choice of poached eggs or cheese on toast this morning. Xxx

BigPigLittlePig · 15/08/2014 08:20

Poached eggs it is then Wanda. Have had some mega strong coffee (first of many today). She was up from 11.30 til 5 in the end I think it must be big teeth on the move or similar, hope it settles bloody quickly for everyones sake. I am like a bear with a sore head.

BUT it is nearly the weekend AND I have next week off AND we're off to stay with my parents so babysitting on tap.

Zamboni how are things with you lately? Hope you're keeping your head above water xx

StuntNun · 15/08/2014 08:24

Just a quick reflux update. J has been on a three-quarter dose of Omeprazole for a week and a half dose for two days and the diarrhoea is resolving. I don't know whether I'll be able to cut it out entirely because he was windy this morning but even if he's okay on a lower dose that might still help. I still have an unopened bottle of ranitidine so I could try that instead of the Omeprazole if he's still symptomatic.

Elizadoesdolittle · 15/08/2014 08:45

Oh bp that sound's awful. But sounds like you have lots to look forward to.

Yum. I love poached eggs.

YellowWellies · 15/08/2014 15:35

Scan showed that the sharp stabbing pains in my cervix are because some bugger has gone footling breech and has a foot in my blimmin cervix. OUCH! So no flying Sad

misslaughalot · 15/08/2014 15:43

Ouch YW that does sound painful. A real shame that you can't fly, but I loved the photograph idea upthread. I hope you can do something that you're happy with to remember your friend.

I have a scan next week at 28 wks to begin estimations as to the weight of this baby, which will start to inform whether I go for an ELCS or VBAC, plus the GTT.

Wandathewindfairy · 15/08/2014 18:33

You know yw circumstances usually have a way of making decisions for you and working things out for the best. And remember we are looking at a stormy weekend so you could have ended up stuck or some thing. Xx

Passmethecrisps · 15/08/2014 20:21

That sounds most unpleasant yw - does that mean that there are further implications for birth? And I agree with wanda that circumstances often sort themselves out and in some ways fate takes decisions out of our hands. When DH lost a good friend a few years ago he gathered photos as has been suggested and the family chose to have them playing on a projector during the reception. It was very touching and the family appreciated the thought.

28 weeks miss?!? I can't get my head around how far along you chaps are! What does GTT stand for?

I am glad that things seem better for J stunt. Like I mentioned before P is still a burpy farty girl but it doesn't trouble her at all so I consider that a success. I hope he continues to show improvement.

Your weekend sounds great bp. I must say I can't agree with your choice of poached egg though. I mean, maybe the way the fabulous wanda makes them but in my house they are just a poor man's cross between a boiled egg and a fried egg with none of the advantages of either. Especially when they are a bit snotty

However, these are intense and personal issues. Egg choice - one of life's great challenges.

P went to nursery today. Drop off was tearful but not the massive hysterics of the previous weeks. When I went to pick her up she led me in to the room to show be the various things she was doing. I reckon this must mean that she is pretty happy there. I also couldn't get her in the car as she kept taking off and running round the grounds which are huge. It is an old stately home and has dogs buried with headstones. P was pointing to them and asking "dat?". I ended up saying they were special doggy stones as I couldn't think of what on earth else to say. I did say that she shouldn't sit on them. Probably best to be respectful to dead doggies.

In my day off I did more cooking. Multiple portions of cottage pie with cheese leek topping and fish pie.

Last weekend before going back to work. Yikes!

Passmethecrisps · 15/08/2014 20:21

Gosh. That was long and dull. Sorry!

Kyz · 15/08/2014 20:29

Hi guys,

jeebers, i've been rubbish recently, I really have. It's been one thing after another here though and I just haven't had the time to think of getting the laptop out and i seem to have completely lost off the face of the earth misplaced the ipad somewhere...

Hope you're having a nice time over here lily

The alternative breakfast thread looks a good read Wanda thanks for the link. I have a few really busy days where E will get cereal thrown at him but I'm looking for other ideas too for the other days.

your poor DH pass gout sounds very painful indeed!

eeeee hope your course goes well pr :)

wow eliza 20 weeks already?! madness! and you too yw at 30 weeks! goshes! and misslaugh at 28 weeks! Time really is flying especially atm!

yw I think the idea of a card/letter and pictures if possible is a very lovely one. So sorry again for your loss :( Also sorry to hear of breechness! Ouch!

eek bp you must be knackered! I bet you're really looking forward to next week, though :)

Soooo quichesters, what's everyone got planned for the weekend? E has an opthamology (sp?) appointment tomorrow morning, then we promised him a trip to feed the ducks after his nap. I hope it's not wet but if it is we have got him an all in one rain coat thingy. Oh, and he needs his feet measuring again.

Kyz · 15/08/2014 20:43

Sorry pass cross posted - sounds like P is settling better :) good stuff! Todays cookings sounds yummy! I could just eat a nice fish pie, yum!
