Hope everyone finds this and I haven't doubled up!

I've got really bad back pain and ds is spinning on his zebra crying. No idea why!

Hope you've made it through the day WL the end is in sight!!

A has suddenly come on with his words in the last couple of weeks. But I think DD was far more verbal than him at the same age. I remember when she had her first dose of tonsillitis the Dr asking DH how he knew DD's tummy hurt, and a rather non - plussed DH saying "well, she told me it does".

No chance of that. But A is still pretty bad. He isn't really eating much either, so we're wondering if it's tonsillitis (I can't get him to open his mouth and show me). So DH is going to try and get him to the Dr tomorrow.

halestone · 31/08/2014 16:42

Utopian, maybe because he is so clever with everything else thats why he doesn't say very much. He may just be taking it all in. Obviously you know your child best though so if you think theres a problem its good that you've got an action plan in place.

Stacks · 31/08/2014 18:37

I feel a bit bad now. I was coming on as a proud mum to say DS parroted DH and said "I know where it is" today. I'm not sure it counts, because he was just repeating DH. He's come on so far in such a short space of time though. His first word was 'miaow' (copying my sisters cats) back in mid February. He stuck at two word for ages (adding "more" to his repatiore) but now were up to 3 word sentences and a massive vocabulary which I'd struggle to count.
I'm amazed how quickly language has developed. It's similar to how shocked I was at how quick he grew as a baby (and how quick DD is growing now). We really are an amazing species.

Utopian I worried about DS talking for a while. He was 14 months before he had any words, and even then didn't say "dada" or "mumum" for months. It seems though that one day it just clicked for him, and he was adding multiple words a day to his vocabulary. I'm sure your DS will do the same soon, and you can sit and be amazed just like me :)

Barbeasty · 31/08/2014 19:43

I say how amazed we are at how A has come on, but he didn't have much to start with.

But if you're worried, then good to get him checked Utopian. Everyone thought one niece was naughty, when they emigrated to the USA they discovered she was deaf (has hearing aid in one ear now- came back to the UK for that one! ) Made a huge difference.

DH went to his brother's yesterday, to collect MIL. He and DD played on their Wii. We now have a 2nd hand one! He is getting increasingly cross that I am trouncing him at bowling. Even DD beat him....

SpottyTeacakes · 31/08/2014 20:36

My granny died this morning (my dad only just told me?!) she's my great nan and was 100 a couple of weeks ago

Thanks Thanks sorry for your loss Spotty Thanks Thanks Thanks

PurplePidjin · 31/08/2014 21:32

Thanks Spotty

Brew for WL and Nutella and anyone else in need - Nut the breakfast thing MUST be uninterrupted or there's no point!

We're just home from camping at a car show. Teaching R to shout DUUUUUUB whenever we saw a classic was really cute until we got the the massive VW show Hmm

He's suddenly produced gajillions of words out of seemingly nowhere. I'm exhausted but will try and list some

Animal noises:
Horse (tongue click), dragon/dinosaur/lion/tiger (raah), bunny (wrinkles nose and sniffs), cat, dog, pig, cow, sheep, seagull/crow (caah caah), magpie (chak chak), birdie (chee chee), raspberry (pfft), bah-eye (butterfly)

Vehicles:
Car, dar dar (motorbike), nawnee (anything with hi viz flashing on), loror (lorry), tractor, vrrm vrrm

General:
No, yeh, Mummy, Daddy, Manmar (grandma/grandpa), more, bikbik (biscuit), buck buck (bucket), tick tock (watch), pla (splash) up, down, chip, cheese, hiya, bye, tha oo (thank you), baby, bow (bounce)

I think there are more, but those are the main ones. It's all come in the last couple of weeks to a month, or so it feels!

Oh and he's named his toy cow. The cow is called Baa. It says Moo, but it's called Baa Hmm

WLmum · 31/08/2014 22:04

spotty I'm so sorry, that's sad news indeed.
utopian as others have said, I'm sure he's fine, but best to get support if you're concerned.
beasty I hope A is ok. It's awful when they can't tell you and won't cooperate with investigations! I'm sure dd1&2 were more vocal at this age but T is much more advanced in other ways.
I've survived the day, mainly by eating! I took the dds out but poor T had a nasty fall and has a massive bruise/graze on her cheekbone.
I'm not convinced she's going to sleep through tonight even though I timed her nap! As she was up so long last night, she got up an hour late. I let her sleep for 50 mins early pm, although she was tired all morning. She wasn't happy about waking up but was perky all arvo. I'm all wound up and anxious about it.
On another note - has everyone seen the moon tonight? Special alignment with Saturn and Mars, making the moon golden. It's ace. Night!

WLmum · 31/08/2014 22:05

And we somehow had a disposable nappy mixed in with the washables - clogged the washing machine and I flooded the kitchen fixing it. Grrr.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 31/08/2014 23:53

Really sorry for your loss Spotty

Sorry I've not been around much. Life's pretty shit at the minute and it's taking all of my strength just to get through the days.

My house is ready, I don't want to live in it alone, but there's not a lot I can do about that.

halestone · 31/08/2014 23:57

WL, i hope you do get a decent sleep tonight.

Beasty, hopefully the dr will be able to shed the light on what is wrong with A and help find the solution to make him back to his normal self.

I am gettingAngry I sat DP down this weekend and explained that H's sleep was getting me down. It takes ages for her to settle and fall asleep and still getting up 2-3 times minimum was getting me wound up. I suggested that we tried CC with her but he has completely refused to do it. He only has to do 2/7 nights as the rest of the nights i'm here. I am so Angry its me her sleep or lack of is affecting not him. He can sleep in a bed alone all day yet i'm struggling on now with getting in and out of bed so often.

halestone · 01/09/2014 00:48

Thanks Willyou, i honestly don't know what to say to help cheer you up. Come and be bored with us or vent whenever you need to. Do you have any friends you could ask to stay with you whilst you settle in?

SpottyTeacakes · 01/09/2014 09:52

Thanks. She died in her sleep which I think is the best way to go.

WillYou you've done so well since exdp left. He was such an arse. I can only imagine how you feel but you will be happy again. You seem like such a lovely (and beautiful) person you deserve much better.

Can add flowers to ds' vocab Hmm

OP posts:
Barbeasty · 01/09/2014 13:41

Really sorry Spotty.

And WillYou. Hope you manage take the place your own. But I guess it does make it feel rather final.

A has a viral throat infection, so we just have to ride it out. And get a urine sample. Apart from putting his willy in the bottle and making it stay there, any tips?! DH has usefully put the specimen pot on the kitchen side and buggered off back to work, leaving A with MIL and leaving me to try and get the sample. Must think of my revenge....

WillYouDoTheFandango · 01/09/2014 14:27

I posted a reply but it obviously never made it.

My dad accidently let a radiator leak all over my broadband router at the weekend. Unsurprisingly it is now dead, 2 weeks old too. Fortunately it's a Virgin one and they're sending a replacement. I obviously didn't know about the water until after I ranted to them about shoddy equipment breaking after a fortnight Blush

Sorry to be a whingy whiner. I had a stomach bug and my resistance was low. Onwards and upwards.

halestone · 01/09/2014 15:25

Beasty, all i can think of is putting a sandwich bag over his willy in a nappy?? can you tell i don't have a boy or would full on bribery to wee in a potty work?

Willyou, good news on getting a new router though, your rant must of been impressive Grin I hope your stomach bug has cleared up now.

H is in bed with her dad, she has got a bit of a temperature and keeps saying her belly is sick. Bless her, hopefully she will be fine when shes had a decent sleep.

MrsNutella · 01/09/2014 15:28

willyou I wish there was more I could do in RL support. I think that what you're managing to do and get done is amazing! ThanksBiscuitBrewWine For you.

spotty sorry for your sad news. Thanks

DD is three weeks old today, she is so much bigger than DS was at this age. She is changing so fast. I am slowly falling in love with her. not loving what she does to my nipples though

Barbeasty · 01/09/2014 19:29

I breastfed A, holding the test tube in place. Half an hour and not a drop.

From the way he laughed when I put his nappy on, either he did one straight away in his nappy or he was planning what to do with the red felt tip he'd got hold of (already used a yellow highlighter on his face this evening)

SpottyTeacakes · 01/09/2014 19:32

Beasty all you can do is keep him naked and follow him round Hmm Grin

OP posts:
Barbeasty · 01/09/2014 19:34

I'll have to leave that to MIL tomorrow!!

But she apparently sat him on the potty today. He sat there for ages before doing a tiny poo. She said he looked confused.

SpottyTeacakes · 01/09/2014 19:43

Hahaha Grin

OP posts:
WLmum · 01/09/2014 22:53

That sucks willyou. I hope you feel more positive soon and that you have friends that can come round and hang out a bit in the evenings.
beasty T always does a wee standing in the bath - her sisters still fall for me swooshing the wee down the plug hole so it doesn't get in the rest of the bath! Anything like that for A?
hales sorry dp isn't supporting you. Honestly if it's you who is coping with all the nights then just do what you think is right for you. Or make him take a week off and do every night so he gets a taster.
Pleased to report that T slept 8 til 6.30 last night so today her nap was timed to 45 mins and bedtime at 7.30. She went out like a light so hopefully we're back on track.

Barbeasty · 02/09/2014 08:07

It's silly. He's only done a wee in the bath Ince, and only done one whilst being changed twice. Normally I wouldn't complain!!

Just wanted to say good luck to any of the older siblings starting/ going back to school this week. (I know I'm late for any Scottish oldies).

halestone · 02/09/2014 13:43

hope the wee catching has gone well Beasty.

WL yay to a good sleep from T, do you think shortening her naps has worked for you then?

H has had a temperature and has been clingy at times for the last 2 days, but when she isn't clingy, shes her normal mischevious self. I think it could be down to her last teeth coming through. I can't complain really as she is doing and has done so well with the rest of her teeth.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/09/2014 15:34

We were supposed to decorate a shoe box for dd over the holidays and fill it with stuff about her/her favourite things. What on earth do we put in it??
