The Piriton will help. Monitor the eye. It can go on the eyeball and that is when it gets tricky. Also keep an eye on his chest as you can get it in the lungs too. AFAIK those are the two most tricky complications with the pox. If worried about his breathing, or you think he has it on the eye ball then get him seen at OOH or ask for a home visit as PR says. Hopefully the piriton will help him settle.

Do you remember when I spent a week sleeping on the floor of DD2s bedroom? When I had a broken ankle and was 24 weeks pregnant and wouldn't leave her? I found the support thread on MN for the pox extremely helpful.

ValiumQueen · 02/07/2014 21:00

I think I might start calling my boss the Pox Grin Not to her face obviously.

ValiumQueen · 02/07/2014 21:12

Once the spots had crusted I found sudocrem very good indeed.

BigPigLittlePig · 02/07/2014 21:33

Oh Zamboni poor little S-bug Sad Hope the piriton gets you all some sleep.

Too tired to post.

The dog is humping dhs arm. What the fuck is wrong with my pets??

Zamboni · 02/07/2014 21:43

He's still wide awake but not screaming anymore. Not happy exactly but not screaming. Hoping he passes out soon!

Pikz · 02/07/2014 21:50

Big hugs to team zamboni xx

Elizadoesdolittle · 02/07/2014 21:55

zamboni poor poor S. It sounds horrid. I hope he is comfortable soon and the pox starts to fuck off. Thanks for you although Wine may be more appropriate.

Had a nice chilled out day here. Lovely weather so lots of playing in the garden. My in laws were gardening for me so I rewarded them with dinner.

StuntNun · 02/07/2014 22:26

Thanks PR, I'm at my mum's so she's on night duty. :)

I must be quick as I think DH has naughty plans for tonight. Grin

The pox sounds awful Zamboni, I hope you get some improvement tomorrow.

Sending the piriton plane to zamboni towers

It puts my bizarre bedtime into perspective.

Buggy = best thing ever ever ever ever ever

Doggt soft toy bought on a whim = caused actual bouncing on the spot

YellowWellies · 02/07/2014 23:00

Aww my pal's sister has just had a DS! 23 hours - will find out the details tomorrow. Apparently all are well Smile

Zamboni poor wee manny! Sending sleep and a quick recovery your way.

Passmethecrisps · 02/07/2014 23:01

Wahoo! How exciting!!!

Zamboni · 03/07/2014 05:47

Ah lovely news YW.

Pass love the bouncing description. S has a number of dog soft toys and loves them all.

I really appreciate all the good wishes. Hideous night though. Oh well, we are another day into it and a step closer to it being over. Plus reinforcements in the shape of my DM arrive today. She may not be allowed to leave Smile

Wandathewindfairy · 03/07/2014 06:49

zamboni poor old S.i hope you got a good night sleep. DS1 had it like that, everywhere, eyelids, hair, dangly bits, and it took longer for him to recover. But he did. And has the obligatory chicken pox pox scar. I used piriton too for chick pox.

Hugs Thanks vqhope it sorts itself out.

Hold fire. This is not my morning ramble! Just a mid dishwasher empty chat!

ValiumQueen · 03/07/2014 06:59

Hugs Zamboni and S. One step closer to recovery xxx

Thank you Wanda. Have a meeting today so hopefully it will soon be a memory.

horseylady · 03/07/2014 07:32

Last day of my holiday today :(

fruitpastilles · 03/07/2014 07:35

Morning! Haven't caught up since I last posted, have been getting the house ready for it to be valued today, quite exciting really, I feel like a proper grown up Grin

Wandathewindfairy · 03/07/2014 07:42

Good luck fruit

BigPigLittlePig · 03/07/2014 08:10

Ah Zamboni sorry for a bad one. Good job dm is arriving, hopefully you can get a bit of rest.

We were up at 5. By 6.45, we had watched a lot of peppa pig ("peppy peppy"), had a bath and hair wash (wih peppy bubble bath - do you detect a theme?), fed and brushed the alarmingly grubby cat, and were sitting down to breakfast. Am going to try wheat free again this weekend as we had a few fab nights with a good 12 or 13 hours, and no grumping, whereas now we are back to being a cantankerous, clingy sleep dodger. Good job I love her!

Thanks for reinstating thankful Thursday VQ.

I am thankful for

  • omeprazole
  • my super duper family
  • Brew

Soon to be added to that list is the hammock I have ordered for the garden. I dreamt about it last night Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 03/07/2014 08:14

I am thankful for my fly swatter. A little bastard spent the night buzzing round my head and waking me up and this morning I took great pleasure in electrocuting its sorry arse.

I am thankful also for the freelancing work even though it is dull as dishwater because this week's work will pay for our short holiday coming up in 10 days.

Zamboni · 03/07/2014 08:40

We have Peppy Pig too BPLP but I've always spelt it Peppi in my head

Well done VQ - thankful Thursday is such a nice thing.

I am thankful for DH who totally pulls his weight with sick DC, and who will do a great job SAH today despite a sore back and whinging at defcon5, for DM who is patient and beloved by the DC and will be the most massive help, for the fact that even though this pox is fucking awful, it is a temporary illness and we are otherwise fortunate to have good health.

ditsygal · 03/07/2014 09:19

*+ Hi everyone! its been aaaaggges since I have posted but have been trying to keep up when I can. I am trying to limit TV majorly for F as he was getting more and more demanding to have it on and on certain programmes he loves and starting to ignore his toys so its now a special treat and the rest of the time its totally off - but that means no laptop for me either!
F had a sickness bug last week - the first since he was a little baby so that was horrible but we survived (and I caught it at the weekend!)
Apart from that we are doing well here.

Zamboni the pox sounds so horrible bless you, I hope he feels better soon.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that F's vaccination for the pox holds and we don't ever have to deal with it!
Stunt I can sympathise with you - F i very demanding at the moment and screams to get his way as he still doesn't speak except - this, that, hiya and banana. It can be very draining.

Right back off to entertain him as he doesn't seem to play well on his own anymore!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 03/07/2014 09:26

Im getting pissed off again with J's night waking. He cries and won't stop til we go in and lift him, cuddle him and then lay him back down.

Was in a not great mood last night as seems a lot of work 'friends' deleted me from Facebook.... So I just deleted the rest! Very therapeutic!

MsJupiter · 03/07/2014 10:11

I'm very very thankful to have my lovely mum and sister around helping out with L especially while I feel so rough!

Also thankful L sat down with me and watched Mr Tumble this morning instead of haring round getting into mischief. He usually ignores the telly so maybe he worked out I wasn't my usual self.

And very thankful for ice cream, mashed potato and soup!

PetiteRaleuse · 03/07/2014 10:30

Flowers for izzy, jupiter and zamboni and I hope stunt got a good night?

Lily311 · 03/07/2014 12:11

Hugs izzy, Jupiter and zamboni.

I am thankful for my lovely babysitter who comes in the morning for an hour so I can run and clear my head. Today I am extra thankful as grief hit me last night and I needed to run as fast as possible.

Thankful for all of you, I am myself within this quiche.

Thankful for my lovely friends in real life as well my family.

And thankful for having an emergency chocolate bar in the fridge for days like this.
