Our latest is "there you go" (all one word!) and "oh dear bear" and "fall, Jonas" and "story". He will count along with me to 5 but I do think that's repetition not real counting in his case. He is repeating most words I say but remembers and uses only a fraction of these new words a day.

BigPigLittlePig · 01/07/2014 09:01

Grin Wanda, brilliant!

All the woo chat made me a bit goose bumpy. Like I said, until the business with grandad I thought it was a lot of nonsense. But do now think he popped over on his way to a better place.

Pikz I hope you have a better day at work Thanks and good luck with your emails PR.

Now to revise for a few hours Envy only 10 days to go thank goodness.

misslaughalot · 01/07/2014 09:28

Gah, missed so much chat, including all the talk of Aaron Sorkin. Might have to have a name change soon, a West Wing themed one I think.

I'm not woo, I have a mathematical background and like to apply a rational explanation to everything (O's wakings during the night challenge me with this regularly) but I am open to the concept of it and do enjoy hearing what others have experienced.

I was keeping a list of O's words that she could say in context but gave up 2 weeks ago as we'd hit 200 and I just can't keep up now. Her latest one is trying to say her name, as we call her Livvy she pronounces it at Wivvy which is super cute. She's now regularly using two words together, daddy's van, mummy's shoes etc. she counts but not in the right order and it's definitely just repetition. I love the stories of how the quiche babies are developing.

Have called in sick today. Have achy joints, sensitive skin, a bit dizzy and just generally feel crap. I rarely take a day off ill, if it was just me I'd probably power through but at 20 weeks pg I thought a day on the sofa would be best. And we've run out of paracetamol, c'mon Asda delivery I need drugs!

YellowWellies · 01/07/2014 09:45

This morning we've had "lid on" (his vitamins!) and "barking" (the dog at next door's cat who's sitting on the wall teasing her). I write his words in context on the calendar and the last three months have been crazy. Not sure of the total number.

Zamboni · 01/07/2014 10:08

That's a good idea YW. I just tend to make periodic notes in a journal thing I do for each DC, but it's much less accurate!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 01/07/2014 11:40

I'm so jealous of all your talkers. Dd was like that and spoke in sentences at 18 months which I only know now is quite advanced. J is starting to babble more and shout at us as if he thinks he's talking so hopefully it won't be long for him to be chatting away.

Lovely day here so far. I've just collect J from nursery and will head into the garden after lunch. My sis is off today but I've not heard from her yet.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/07/2014 12:03

I should be pleased but am not really: I have just been given three translating job with tight deadlines. Ugh. More fashion. The money will be useful but aaargh.

StuntNun · 01/07/2014 12:13

J went straight into a single bed too. We already had duvets, covers etc. for single beds as DS1 and DS2 had bunk beds whereas for a toddler bed we would have had to buy all new bedding as well as the bed. The foam bumper VQ recommended is an amazing job, he hasn't fallen out yet.

We don't have any reliable words yet apart from occasional shouts of No.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/07/2014 13:20

There's nothing wrong with putting a toddler into a double bed is there? DD1 will very very very soon be moving out of our bed I fucking well hope and into the spare room which will have a double bed. We don't have space for two singles in LO's room and besides, having them sharing would be a nightmare, but we definitely need a spare double bed. LO will be moved into her big bed in a few weeks because she really really wants to sleep in the bed now. Could someone please link to vq's bumper stunt just mentioned I'm going to need that.

StuntNun · 01/07/2014 13:44

I got one similar to this PR, I think it cost about £12 in total. I was planning to put J into a double bed but it didn't work out as it involved a reshuffle of rooms that didn't happen in the end.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/07/2014 13:58

Fab! Ta!

Zamboni · 01/07/2014 14:20

DD also in a double bed because that is what suits us. She loves it!

ChasingDaisy · 01/07/2014 14:23

Gah, so much interesting chat going on at the moment! I wish I had time to contribute properly.

O's vocabulary is increasing by the day - it's amazing really. A few two word phrases, "oh dear" and "big bit" when he wants me to cut his dinner up smaller. He repeats everything I say - or tries to. Hearing him try to say sunshine is the cutest thing ever. He's pretty good at recognising colours - will pick up the red ball if asked etc. I was quite convinced he could read the other day, when I phoned my dad and the word 'dad' came up on the call display, he said 'dada' Grin

MsJupiter · 01/07/2014 17:27

Just had wisdom and molar out. Feeling very sorry for myself but glad it's over. Dentist recommended ice cream so I will take that advice!

L had barely any discernible words a few weeks ago and never seemed to try and copy us. The development has been very sudden and breathtaking! Our favourite was the other day I said to DH 'don't be ridiculous' and L said in exactly the same intonation, 'dobbyridobbidoss' and had us in hysterics. He is a real showman and will repeat or re-enact anything that makes us laugh.

ValiumQueen · 01/07/2014 18:04

Ouch JJ SadThanks

The bumpers are good but mine look like a serrated saw as DD2 chewed little lumps out if them. She was about 3 at the time. I put Js under his memory foam topper

Rowingdowntheriver · 01/07/2014 19:01

It's been a long day. Have just eaten a whole box of maltesers to help see me through the next few hours. Am off out to a book club at a neighbours this evening as I promised I'd take I along to introduce her. Now wish I was crashing at home instead.

No way am I moving L to a big bed yet, he'd NEVER stay in it!! I reckon he'll be at least 3 before I even consider it!

YellowWellies · 01/07/2014 19:37

A napless day spent having waterfights in the garden with his cousins = too hysterical to bath and asleep mid story at 7.20! That never happens. Please don't wake at 5 am.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/07/2014 20:22

Nursery party this evening. The food was yum. Gave me some great ideas for nibbles and party food. DD1 loved it but LO insisted on staying in my arms all evening, even when DH turned up.

Kyz · 01/07/2014 20:28

Evening all :)

Oooh some goosebumpy woo stories going on, love it!

Cross posted with the shop pictures pr how daft! I am sure they have worked out how to genderise everything these days!

so many clever quiche babies! I love how they all develop so differently, it's fab!

E is staying in his cot for now, until I have to move him into something else. It's a cot bed thing, so I am assuming I take sides off and it'll do for a bit? No idea!

Forgot what else I wanted to say now

PetiteRaleuse · 01/07/2014 20:29

jupiter look after your poor gums and keep on top of the pain meds. In a couple of days it should be easier. I hope you're resting tomorrow with a boxset/easy novel?

Elizadoesdolittle · 01/07/2014 20:54

jupiter wolf down that ice cream. It's doctors orders after all.

E's language has come on in leaps and bounds since our holiday. It's very cute. She is obsessed with wee but unfortunately calls both poo and wee, wee wee. Last night in the bath she said wee wee and pointed to get out. So I got her out she did a massive fart and then pointed to get back in. Tonight she said wee wee, stood up and did a wee and then sat back down again. Don't worry, not going all potty training madness, I just don't remember DD1 being like that at all.

Unfortunately I will have to move E into a bigger bed and a different room due to the arrival of dc3. Mind you the baby will be in with us for 6 months so I guess she'll be 2.8 which isn't too bad. DD1 was 2.7 so pretty much the same. They have Ikea toddler beds which extend to a full size single. DD1 is still in the toddler size but does sleep in full size singles when we go away.

We went to a new playgroup called boppin tots this morning. E loved it. I'm looking forward to taking her to a few more things once DD1 is at school.

ChasingDaisy · 01/07/2014 21:05

O has a cot bed, so when the time comes I will just convert it to a toddler bed and keep him in it until he outgrows it. I'm saving up to buy him some proper bedroom furniture at the moment. He's struggled to drop off the past few days - I'm not sure if it's the duvet but I'm going to persevere with it as I want him to get used to it in the summer months so he doesn't end up getting cold if he can't figure out how to cover himself back up. He is spending much of the time fist in mouth at the moment though, so I am suspecting pesky teeth.

misslaughalot · 01/07/2014 22:17

QQ. We use reusable nappies, but are going away in a couple of weeks for 7 days. All holidays so far have been to my parents place in Cornwall so we don't normally change our routine as we can wash stuff there, but this time there's no washing facilities (we're staying in the UK) so I think I want to use disposables just for the week as I don't want to have to transport 7 day old nappies home with us

So, what size disposables do I need? Haven't used them since O was 8 weeks old and have no idea Confused

StuntNun · 01/07/2014 22:19

MissLaugh J is just over 12 kg and size 4+ or size 5 both fit him.

OP posts:
misslaughalot · 01/07/2014 22:22

Thanks Stunt. Do you use same nappies at night as in the day?
