I like the 1st one, lovely and homey, and love the garden. Would love a proper country cottage one day.

Donnadoon · 10/06/2014 22:22

VQ my dd1 is 8 too and this is all the rage you may hate me if you get her some though Grin
Waves at everyone, I have been reading as always but no time to post
Dd2 still not talking, on waiting list for hearing test and SALT, but I'm not as worried as I was because she makes animal noises and understands everything and interacts etc, so it's just a waiting game hopefully

PurplePidjin · 10/06/2014 22:25

R is still in just the babygrow, and has a random cotton cellular blanket I found in the blanket box in his bedroom - think SIL passed it on when I was expecting, all my others were mine and are nasty acrylic. Or heavy pram sized ones I made for him. And I think I've used all my cotton yarn on other projects now, oops! I did get some junior bed sized sheets on ebay a while back when i thought to try a pillow, never got round to the pillow but might just buy him a wee duvet some time and transition. Was going to wait till he was in a bed but he's adjusted fine and it'll be cheaper than blasted sleeping bags. Can't find 18-36 for under about £25 - I bought all his previous ones at second hand sales for about £3 so it's coming as a shock :o

I get a lot in Sainsburys too. My mum does most of her shopping there, and i used to use the points for work clothes (needed smart stuff that could handle football at break, students absconding into the woods and occasional restraints in muddy puddles so nothing expensive or hard to wash) Now I use it for clothes for R. His sandals are ace, and were used for his paddling adventures today then went in the washing machine. Hopefully they'll be dry tomorrow, we're off to a shallow stream in the forest for more swimming :)

PurplePidjin · 10/06/2014 22:26

Oh yeah, VQ - loom bands. Definitely the "it" toy of the moment!

YellowWellies · 10/06/2014 22:48

The wee kids (OK like ten year olds!) who live two doors up and love the bear (and Betsy - mostly Betsy) made him some of those loom bracelets - he was soooo chuffed! Every night at bath time now we have to open the skylight to shout night night to the kids playing out on the street.

Today, on the train to my sisters J announced 3 station names (Aberdour, Kinghorn and Kirkcaldy) we only do the trip once or twice a week but he's recognising the stations and their names. I was Shock Maybe that's my geography teacher Mum's skills coming through!

GTbaby · 10/06/2014 23:38

Just watching the quad program. Can not believe they use washable nappies!

Wandathewindfairy · 11/06/2014 00:12

What station was quad prog on?

GTbaby · 11/06/2014 01:14

Itv1

GTbaby · 11/06/2014 01:26

I've been meaning to ask this a while. Blush How do you know when they pee.
I spoke to a friend recently about nappy free time. She said "well you know roughly when he pees so just avoid those times. ConfusedI dont have a clue. Or poo. One minutes his nappy his clean. Next it's dirty. Am I missing something? I'm guessing I'm just not observant.

ValiumQueen · 11/06/2014 05:42

GT you have two to watch. You are plenty observant. DD2's eyes water when she does a wee. Still do. No idea with sieve boy. It is very obvious when he does a poo. Usually anyway. He goes in the hall and is very quiet with a red face. He then usually says poo and turns around so I can check.

Yes loom bands. Fucking loom bands. Aha. Fucking everywhere literally. DD1 hates following a pattern or instructions. She is a free spirit in her creativity. I got her a pack for £1 and will not be investing more. Great suggestion though as most kids love them Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 11/06/2014 06:58

Oh dear, what went wrong with little pigs night? I came to bed nice and early, and she woke up, tried settling her (woof woof moment) which was only momentarily successful. Finally at 1am after unceremoniously dumping her in her cot, she fell back asleep...until 5 Envy

ValiumQueen · 11/06/2014 07:09

Oh dear BP. You must be shattered Brew

ValiumQueen · 11/06/2014 07:10

I had 500mls of cider last night and I have a very sore head. I am such a lightweight. And on a school night too. Oops.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/06/2014 08:10

Morning all.

fruitpastilles · 11/06/2014 08:15

Loving the property porn! We are thinking of moving too as our house isn't very big, dp wants a detached, the new neighbours are so so noisy it's unreal. I'm also very jealous of how much house you get for your money up north. We are going to need to move further afield to get what we want for what we can afford.

S put 2 words together for the first time this morning 'more baabaa' baabaa is her bottle. I was surprised really as she still only has about 12 words.

Brew For the bad nights. S woke last night and asked for milk, she hadn't had milk in the night for months and months. Dp said I shouldn't have given it her as she will keep doing it now. I disagree though, she often wakes in the night and doesn't normally ask for a drink.

Yy to drop dead Fred, I actually watched it on netflix last week, absolutely loved that film when I was younger.

Hugs pikz I remember when my 2 cousins both moved abroad within months of each other, both to Hong Kong, I hated it but it was fine, if you have an iPhone aswell, get viber it's an app for free calls it's really good. (Great for if you can't be bothered to do ur hair for Skype Wink)

vq I swear by salt and vinegar crisps for sore heads the next day.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/06/2014 08:36

wanda are you fully recovered from your throat infection? Who else was ill, was it pass ?

Wandathewindfairy · 11/06/2014 08:50

Yes thanks pr I feel great. I don't think I have had an antibiotic for years and years so they kicked in really quickly. DH was great, he came home from work and just let me rest on Friday, couple of early nights and a reasonably pottery weekend. The Gp felt that the whole thing was exacerbated by the stress of the last few weeks so the fact that the worry of work is no longer in the mix helped.

Lovely night last night out with the ladies church group I go to. The minister and his wife are leaving so it was a leaving do for her, she is great she does loads of stimulating stuff for women of my age. Really, that was the main reason I stayed at that church when I was looking around as the services aren't really my style, but the extra curricular stuff if super.

Anyway lovely meal and my new frock got an outing. (See fb, not many pictures of me on my own these days)

Also have tweaked my routine with boys but more about that later as I have to go and attend to a stink.

Paisleychick · 11/06/2014 09:27

Hey all
I'm a bit late to the party but H is in a vest and nappy to sleep. His room has been getting to 27 so we put the cool mist humidifier on too.
VQ H is in pink stuff all the time and it's not even hand me downs. My mum bought him some pyjamas that are pink, I think they were on sale and his milk cup is pink and he has another couple of cups that are pink. And a hoodie that dh bought but he says it's salmon, it's pink.
I agree with the be careful of houses coming on and off the market, when I was looking 5 years ago there was a lovely house. Paid for the survey and there was wood boring infestation. Not cool.
GT i have no idea when H pee's, when he poo's he makes a face but with pee no idea.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/06/2014 09:56

Paisley I have been putting on the humidifer too in this heat and noticed this morning that LO's eczema was clearing up. Other than the steps I have been taking I was wondering if anyone had any idea if the humidifer could be helping that???

Paisleychick · 11/06/2014 10:36

PR i have no real experience with eczema but dh does get it now and again. He is always told to moisturise with a water based cream so maybe the moisture in the room from the humidifier is doing the same kind of thing.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/06/2014 12:42

Well if it is helping it will add to my humidifier evangelism :o

ValiumQueen · 11/06/2014 13:02

Praise be to the Humidifier

PurplePidjin · 11/06/2014 13:34

R did it. He only went and bloody did it :o

fruitpastilles · 11/06/2014 14:40

Well done pidjis R Smile

I've just been going through our monthly outgoings and it would appear that we spend about £700 a month on food Shock I do a weekly shop online and that's usually between £80 and £100 but then dp goes to asda of a weekend, and he will get his beer for the weekend a joint of meat and some other bits and bobs and he's ending up spending £300 a month doing that. I can't believe we spend so much, it's ridiculous and needs to be sorted.

YellowWellies · 11/06/2014 14:47

Wahey R!!!!

Fruit I've only really started keeping a strict eye on this (aware that my freelance income won't be around come October). I got our weekly shop (including cleaning and dog and cat food) for £80 a week this week (which is a lot compared to some on here I know but is 40% down just by shopping around - basics Aldi, dairy free stuff Tesco and Asda). Am v chuffed. My DH is like yours though - he cooks at the weekend and is a vair expensive cook. He's next to be worked on....

I'm v chuffed as I recommended my sister switch to Ecotricity, the lovely folks have just sent me and her a £50 John Lewis voucher! That'll pay for the double buggy cosy toes. Or maybe a nice radio for my office.....
