Don't think we're due another leap for a couple of months Stormy. Haven't had chance to look at the book so no idea what delights August holds, I just hope he's over it for our holiday in September.

Donkey noises sound great! Apparently sheep and pigs both say baa, and dogs say wuh! Monkeys say ah ah ah. Our cat is pretty silent, I don't think ds knows about meowing.

OP posts:
WottaMess · 18/06/2014 14:44

Pretty much everything goes baaa (quite aggressively, Melchett stylee) still here but he can eeeawww for donkey and thinks it's hysterical.

yummychocolate · 18/06/2014 15:40

Apparently in ds world every animal is wuf wuf.

yummychocolate · 18/06/2014 15:46

According to my db and his friend we are having a world cup evening. Hmm I better make sure the place is tidy.

StormyBrid · 18/06/2014 16:56

It's weird, the bloody football keeps happening here too. I'm sure I've mentioned how much I hate it more than once...

Plonkysaurus · 18/06/2014 19:31

If I could get away with it, I'd be tempted to chuck our telly out of a flipping window.

OP posts:
Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 18/06/2014 20:18

Trust me, none of you know the hell that World Cup brings to a year 10 class full of dickheads boys who REALLY don't understand why they should write history coursework instead of discussing last night's game.

dolicapax · 18/06/2014 21:28

Would this be a good time for me to mention DH has no interest what so ever in football Grin

He does waste a pointless number of hours on cars and writing computer code though, which have the downside of being year round entertainment.

Yummy whilst I remember, the peanut butter is usually kept in the pantry, which has the advantage of being a bit cooler than everywhere else. I say usually because at the minute it is kept as far out of sight as possible. The garden shed would be too near. The mere sight of the stuff..... ughhhh

Plonky might well be a boy in there. Or twins. It sure as hell isn't another amenable little worselet. I've done a worselet pregnancy. It was really quite pleasant. This one on the other hand. Not pleasant. As well as the all day all night all singing all dancing 'morning' sickness, I've also had two days back to back migraines. Seriously unfunny. Even unfunnier, DH reckons he has sympathetic morning sickness himself. I kid you not. Funny taste in mouth - check. Feeling sick - check. Water is vom inducing - check. On a scale of 0-10 how much sympathy do you think he deserves zero. It might help to know that he is so unwell with it he is currently out for the night at a dinner somewhere swanky, no doubt eating and drinking all manner of sickness triggers without any trouble at all Grin

Eco I'm so sorry about the house, but as others said perhaps it wasn't to be as there is something better out there with your name on it. I like to think that.

Ah dear, the toddle is sad. I have gone and put her to bed and she's sad about it. I had better go and de-sad her.

yummychocolate · 18/06/2014 22:40

doli I am sure worselet is in bed and dreaming away. Ds is still partying and I am rocking in a corner. This child will not sleep. Grrr.

Do you have any feeling whether you will have a ds or dd? I knew it was a ds throughout. I never found out the sex until he came out. I remember dh saying its a boy and for a split second thinking what on earth is he talking about then I remembered I had just had a baby. Grin

How is everyone? Coping with the football? You know it has only been 6days, still a lot more to go.

I am going to view the montessori nursery tomorrow. Ds pox have scabbed over and they have a 5 day policy. Its day 9 tomorrow so we should be ok. I hope ds likes it just as much as he liked the other one I saw. I feel so bad because I took him to the nursery before I knew he had chicken pox. Parents and the nursery are going to love me.

StormyBrid · 19/06/2014 08:54

Don't they say boys are more likely to give you morning sickness? I don't know who they are though, or whether that's true in significantly more than 50% of pregnancies, so take it with a pinch of salt. Have you any preference either way?

Today's word is elephant. They are coming thick and fast, it's cool.

Plonkysaurus · 19/06/2014 09:03

Elephant!!! That's, like, more than one syllable! As ds was saying a lot this morning 'oh wow'. I really need to stop being sarcastic around my child.

Waiting in a pub carpark to swap some documents with a coworker. Feels seedy.

OP posts:
StormyBrid · 19/06/2014 09:23

Only seedy if documents is a euphemism! Technically we don't have three syllable words yet. Elephant is just ele. But it's consistent and in context so it counts. Not expecting perfect pronunciation for a while yet.

Plonkysaurus · 19/06/2014 09:39

Documents were exchanged in a brown envelope, is that seedy enough?

I can't wait until they start making up words, or heading for an approximation of a word. There's a vine of a little kid with her dad, he's holding up a flamingo and asking her what it is. Ten guess for what she actually says.

OP posts:
StormyBrid · 19/06/2014 09:59

Haven't a clue! Pink chicken?

Plonkysaurus · 19/06/2014 10:31

Fuckingo.

StormyBrid · 19/06/2014 10:46

Love it! On a related note, does anyone else get those bloody irritating phone calls with a recorded message about trying to contact the homeowner about a green deal new boiler? We get them multiple times a day. I have a horrible feeling one of these days Fartypants is going to reach the phone before me and answer it with "Hello? Duck off!"

dolicapax · 19/06/2014 11:51

Stormy according to the leaflet the doctor gave me, girls are more likely to give you morning sickness, or multiples. So who knows what's in there. My preference is less than two, and of course healthy, but that goes without saying. I'm feeling marginally less puce today, but that could be something to do with the entire chicken breast I ate after breakfast. Nothing like a good old protein load to batten everything down Grin

Words we (still) have none, but we have lots of other learned stuff which is very cute. The funniest... her tidy streak. The toddle has got it into her head that it is her job to bin dirty nappies. Only wet ones I hasten to add, and only after they have been parcelled up into a hygienic package. She gets very upset if I won't give her the nappy as she likes to run off to the bathroom with it and put it in the bin. Followed by a 'look at me aren't I clever' victory dance.

Talking wise, she is definitely talking. What she is saying is anyone's guess, but there is a whole range of sounds and intonations which are almost intelligible.

Oh and she knows the route to nursery. We've only been three times since she rejoined, but three times is enough. I'm taking it she has an issue with a lack of fish pie on the menu. Actually, that said, I have an issue with the menu. Sausage rolls and baked beans, fish cakes and baked beans and chips, quiche and baked beans..... Am I being pfb or is that appalling? OK, so at home I am a tad precious, nothing processed, no added salt... but that's like a whole other end of the scale.

Yummy yup, she was asleep then.... but only just. It was a loooonnnng evening!

Plonkysaurus · 19/06/2014 12:32

Doli glad you've found your sickness abater. Mine was fever tree tonic water, stolen siphoned from our stash at work.

That menu is appalling. Food was the one thing I was completely precious about when he started nursery and I'm glad. Are you still dissatisfied with them about the suncream/dehydration thing? because this could be a kicker if you're thinking of moving her. It could be a temporary glitch on their part, or their cook might be shit and completely disinterested in nutrition.

FWIW yesterday DS had half a banana for snack, vegetable lasagne for lunch and pudding was raspberries, apple and custard (I'm imagining crumble without the crumble). That's a standard day, as he only has one full meal there. He came home honking of garlic. I would allow the odd sausage roll/fish fingers/beans because I do feed him those things from time to time, but I'm glad they feed him properly the rest of the time.

I saw the montessori nursery and I wasn't impressed. Small outdoor space, poor quality toys and the baby room is small and stuffy. The montessori room is for 3+ years. The first nursery i saw was much nicer and a nice calm atmosphere. Also ds didn't want to leave the first nursery. I do have an interest in another montessori nursery but they take 2.5yrs plus so will have to go on the waiting list.

Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 19/06/2014 17:43

I'm precious about food as well Doli, and that menu would be a bit of a deal breaker for me if it was more than 2 or 3 meals a week. When I go full time in September, dd will be having 3 full days at her new nursery, so 9 meals a week. this is a lunch menu from the people the nursery out source to, and I'm chuffed with it. Just to give you a comparison.

yummychocolate · 19/06/2014 17:58

gerry that looks like a good varied menu. Our nursery does most of these foods too. In fact I think they use the same catering company.

yummychocolate · 19/06/2014 17:59

doli is there an option to bring a packed lunch for dd on some days?

dolicapax · 19/06/2014 19:51

Gerry that's far more like it. I'm at a loss really as it's the best local nursery, and the only one that takes children under 18 months. If I go much further afield I won't actually get any benefit as I'll spend the whole time driving. It's already 1.5 hours total, and she's only there for 4 hours.

I don't know what to do really, as the food is awful, and it's packed food up to one year only. I guess what I can do is go to the manager armed with Gerry's menu and start a discussion. DH's cunning plan was that I offer to do the catering. Yes, that's right, me. Because being a reluctant cook, and an up duffed one at that, gives me exactly the right qualities for that role. Sigh.

ecofreckle · 19/06/2014 20:09

Evening all. Plonky I can report that Dorset is the most beautiful place to be right now. Just stunning in this fab weather. We were at Studland today and it I couldn't imagine a nicer place to be. Turquoise waters, blue skies and soft sand. Have a lovely time down here when you arrive.

Doli glad you found a way to batten down your hatches. Menu does sound a bit Yuck and not very imaginative. What can you do? You need toddle to be going somewhere so you get some respite as your pregnancy progresses.

Any I agree with stuff happening for a reason (despite that being very hard to believe in some circumstances) but I have been wondering whether it's ok to use this theory on this occasion. I have no idea what the 'better' thing might look like right now.

We don't have many words either Doli. We do have actions when I say certain things though, for example the words/phrases hot, well done, hat, dog are all heard in general chit chat and responded to by an action. Makes me realise it is time to stop saying all inappropriate things....not just swearing.

Plonky what is dh doing for his stag? Anything bonkers?

Yummy sorry your nursery was disappointing. The first one sounds nice though. Hollyoaks made me Grin Never seen it! But I do do crap TV. See don't tell the bride.

Gerry I did one of my teaching practices during a world cup and remember year nine hell. I empathise. I taught geography though so could at least use it as a kind of learning point. The history of the world cup is probably not in the syllabus is it?

We went to monkey world yesterday and were face to face through glass with a baby orangutan. It came to peer at Ecotod. Lovely! Day 18 of diarrhoea now which makes me think it must be stress related. Bit drastic though. Haven't eaten properly for nearly three weeks. And I'm in Dorset. On holiday. When the cream tea quota should be at least daily Sad I do have a great jigsaw on the go and for duration of football I'm going to sit in sun and fiddle with it Smile

WottaMess · 20/06/2014 09:06

Hi doli. I have put a link to our nursery menus on fb - didn't want to out myself too much on here. They were recently revised with nutritionist input.
