Started a new thread for us before we run out of room.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
utopian99 · 04/06/2014 08:17

Sorry to miss out on posts but have been awol while moving into our still-unfinished flat. Not advisable with a toddler and pg, in terms of stress levels, although my generally obsessive attitude to tidiness probably doesn't help!

SpottyTeacakes · 04/06/2014 12:20

Ds has just had his third haircut Smile

halestone · 04/06/2014 15:40

Utopian i hope it becomes less stressful soon.

Spotty, H hasn't had one hair cut yet and still has hardly any hair still.

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 04/06/2014 15:44

I seem to produce hairy skinny babies. Dd's hair is halfway down her back and she's had it cut quite a few times too!

Barbeasty · 04/06/2014 15:48

A hasn't had a single haircut yet.

To top yesterday off the heel of my boot fell apart. I'd only bought them in January after the soles on my old ones fell to pieces. Time to boycott clarks!!

We went to see the preschool today, and have put A's name down, starting in January. I think we'll put off giving notice at the current nursery until I've been late a few times, then it's easier to explain why we're moving him. Feel stupidly guilty about it, with DD having been there for 3 years too. But it seemed lovely, and they're building more links with the school.

Utopian hope the house is finished soon, and that you forget all the stress quickly.

Barbeasty · 04/06/2014 15:52

I think DD was 2 when she had her first haircut!

But A has officially beaten her in the reliably sleeping through the night (or whatever it says in the red book) by 8 months. I said with DD that I'd fill it in when she did7 nights tthrough in a row. A has now done this.

If only some kind person hadn't had their car alarm going off from 4am waking us up..... It was still going off at 7.30 . So we're very tired and have the info evening for DD's school this evening.

SpottyTeacakes · 04/06/2014 17:03

I've found a way to stop ds crying when I'm cooking dinner...a pot full of pine cones! Well it worked for twenty minutes anyway which is better than nothing!

WLmum · 04/06/2014 19:46

[jealous] of the sleep beasty! Just in time for you to start your new job Smile
utopian it'll all be worth it in the end.

WLmum · 04/06/2014 19:47

Guess that should have been envy then!

SpottyTeacakes · 04/06/2014 21:19

Right, we're going on holiday next week what should I pack for on the plane for ds? I'm starting to dread it. I'm hoping he might sleep for a bit (yeah right). Am going to take books, as he loves them, things to eat, little colouring, some happyland bits any other ideas?

Barbeasty · 04/06/2014 21:33

I expect we'll be slap bang in an 18 month regression just in time for my first day!!

Back from the info session for DD'S school. All lovely, but her first full time full week will be mid October. Lots of juggling and working from for DH to arrange. Nice news is there are only 28 in the class at the moment, more girls than boys. And we got the 10 minute slot we needed for next week so it doesn't interfere with the funeral.

Maryland2013 · 04/06/2014 21:52

Spotty we are going away too :)
I'm taking the iPad with stuff on that he likes in the hope of 10 minutes peace! Plus books, taggy blanket, gruffalo plus book and some megablocks and snacks galore. I'm also hoping DS will sleep!!!

Maryland2013 · 04/06/2014 21:54

Beasty I hope you are returning boots to Clarks?!

WLmum · 04/06/2014 22:29

Take puppets - lightweight and pocket size and can pop up here and there.
Glad all is working out beasty
I would be contacting clarks too. I just a £15 voucher from sainsburys after complaining about the fruit they delivered.

Stacks · 05/06/2014 13:52

I've heard stickers are great for toddlers. I bought some of those plastic filmy reusable stickers from amazon for £3 or something. Claims age 3+ but I just won't let him eat them! You can also get books of a couple thousand stickers for a couple of pounds. That and paper and crayons. DS likes to draw these days, but he also loves me drawing things he can identify. So far I've thought up spider, butterfly, star, moon and ladybird. All require no drawing skills and no patience from the DC to wait for you to draw :)

DS was up at 5:45 today. Bad day for us, though as he slept all night it'd probably be considered a good day for at least a few of you. Sorry :)

He's really coming along with things though, I was watching him build his stacking cups yesterday, he's amazing at it. If one fits inside the other, he knocks the smaller one off the stack and puts the bigger one on. In just a few attempts he gets them all stacked up. Been super proud of him recently. Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 05/06/2014 14:29

We've got loads of stickers but they're for dd and she won't be impressed if she has to share Wink

WLmum · 05/06/2014 15:17

Grrr just getting stuff ready for my weekend away and have checked the breast pump (am expecting sore boobs without T around) which I lent to sil all packed in the tray in the box etc, I've got it back with no tray and stuff just rattling around. In reality it doesn't matter as I'll chuck it when I'm finished but it's just one in a long line of stuff that hasn't come back as it went.

MrsNutella · 05/06/2014 17:05

Wl I get like that, I'm a "a place for everything and everything in its place" type of person.

I actually said to DH last night how much it bothers me that he can't put stuff back where he found it Hmm he thought I was just nit picking but it reaches a point that it makes cupboards seem pointless...

spotty take snacks, snacks and more snacks! And a couple of new/surprise toys to be introduced about halfway into the journey as a new distraction. DS managed the flight to Florida with an awful lot of snacks.

WLmum · 05/06/2014 19:31

nutella my DH is ridiculously untidy. We've been together 18 years and had countless rows about it to no avail. Most of the time I just ignore it but now and then I get mad. I'm not a massively tidy person but I would always give something borrowed back in the same or better condition - to me it's just polite and thankful. Sil/bil have borrowed a lot of stuff and have given it back in a mess - the sick on the Moses basket sheets was a highlight. I stripped all the removable covers etc and washed them before lending and it came back covered in hair and sick!

SpottyTeacakes · 05/06/2014 19:38

WL that's so bloody rude! I would never give something back to someone in anything less than perfect condition.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/06/2014 20:01

ShockShockShock Dd is going to school tomorrow. First settling in session. SHE'S ONLY THREE!! Sob. I think she'll be ok but I need to pick her up at 1:05 and be at work by 1:30. Super stressful.

Barbeasty · 05/06/2014 21:46

Good luck little Spotty. And good luck speaking to the head.

WLmum · 05/06/2014 23:03

Bless her (and you) spotty. I'm sure she'll be fine but I know it's harder on us than them.

utopian99 · 06/06/2014 05:07

Ooh good luck minispotty! It does seem grown up suddenly...

O has been a star dealing with the chaos, while I have barely held myself together. Am not so bothered about obsessive cleanliness but am super anal about tidiness. Every time we move I generally have the whole house unpacked and sorted in a three day weekend and this time we've been living surrounded by builders finishing things so I have been forced to wait. And everything is covered in dust.

However O has got his routine and sleep in hand after only one wobbly night (woo!) Just in time to be slapped with his first canine, poor thing. Much wailing yesterday morning and a 4.30am wake today but so long as I keep up the calpol he's great.
Builders finally left us a day clear today and took tools with them aa well so I have got my office together and can get a day of work in too, feeling a lot more positive.

Am reading everyone's travel tips with interest as we're going to ibiza in august and sicily in sept (by which time I'll be 7 months, hmm)

SpottyTeacakes · 06/06/2014 05:13

I'm awake Angry

Sounds fabulous utopian!

I've just bought an ipad Blush so dd will definitely be happy on the plane! I'm sure it'll be ok. When my little brother and sister were little we flew longhaul loads and they were always fine.

I hope the head is there at drop off beasty as I'll have no time to chat after. I've just re read the letter and it's five sessions not four! She's still Only going for two though.
