What's the deal with threads being closed? Is there a post limit?

I am soooooo tired today. Archie has been really unsettled the last few nights from about 4am onwards. Sometimes he's hungry, sometimes he wants to play, sometimes he wants his dummy. The last two nights he's ended up in with us as it's easier to replug the dummy, pat etc.
YAWN.

At the risk of sounding like a bit of a cow, it's really nice to know other people are going through what I am with H.

He feeds to sleep pretty much all the time, although he often wakes when we put him down. This then requires half an hour of shushing and rocking, and holding down his flapping arms. He rarely naps during the day, so we have to force them on him - we take him upstairs to his basket, close the curtains, and have total silence. He only naps for half an hour, however. Sometimes I wonder if the effort to get him to sleep is actually worth the nap... It also means when we're out, he just doesn't sleep.

humpty I hope you get more sleep!

MyThree I really hope the mastitis clears soon. I agree with everyone else, that you need to keep yourself healthy first and foremost, so move to formula.

I'm currently listening to my wee boy writhing in pain with trapped wind. He's so unsettled at night just now. I've tried everything to move the wind on but nothing works and he often wakes up screaming.

H is still feeding hourly throughout the day - is this normal? He's just turned 15weeks, and it's relentless. I'm not sure if it's a symptom of too much acid in his tummy? I am considering weaning early, or adding in formula feeds, but hope he'll go for longer soon.

MistletoeBUTNOwine · 21/04/2014 03:50

Fizzy, have you tried a baby sling? DS sleeps well in one during the day, may be worth a try? He's just starting to sleep in the pram too (after being fed to sleep!) but will go down, then need to get moving! Either rock back and forth or walking round.

DS just slept from 9.30 til now for 1st feed so not a horrendous night as I'd feared! Hope you all got some sleep BrewThanks

MistletoeBUTNOwine · 21/04/2014 03:53

Ps DS can feed hourly, go up to 3 hours between feeds, or only 20 mins! He's becoming more distractible now loves his Lamaze knight and horse toy, do when grumbling this will keep him going a while Grin

TarkaTheOtter · 21/04/2014 06:26

fizzy Alex rarely goes more than 1.5hrs between feeds during the day (but has done a 10hr gap at night).

TarkaTheOtter · 21/04/2014 06:29

I think Mistletoe is right and the feeds will stretch out as they start to get more interested in playing/what's going on. At the moment a feed is as interesting as it gets.

TobyLerone · 21/04/2014 06:40

Also, a feed is the easiest way for us to shut them up atm. I know it's what I do when I've run out of other options.

flyawayblue · 21/04/2014 19:45

A few days ago I would have said Alice slept well and we were very lucky. Sadly the poor baby has been having terrible reflux and waking up all the time screaming in pain, gets in a horrible cycle then as she's over tired... Don't know if this is related to her cows milk allergy or not but going to try and talk to the gp tomorrow.

hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend, without screaming babies!

FizzypopFireball · 21/04/2014 21:59

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm not keen to introduce baby rice too soon incase of allergies or digestive problems.

fly it's horrible to hear babies in pain and feel so powerless to help. As toby said, a feed is often useful to soothe, and it definitely works for us. Apparently there's some research to say that nearly all reflux is due to lactose intolerance/allergy. I'm a bit Hmm about the research, but mainly because I don't want to give up dairy!

I got Henry to sleep at 8.30pm tonight, so I'm celebrating a small miracle!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 22/04/2014 08:53

Sadly she refuses dummy/seated soothing/rocking. It's standing or nothing! She also doesn't feed to sleep, partly because getting her on boob is now difficult, and partly she just doesn't like it, whether boob or bottle.

We're seeing family this week, so when we're back we will have to train her out of it. Not going to start until we are back home though...

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 22/04/2014 08:56

Swinging chair is also rejected. Stubborn baby like her mother. Wink

AMillionNameChangesLater · 22/04/2014 11:44

Hope everyone's weekend was good? Ds1 was inundated with chocolate eggs/treats etc. People were very generous. We (dh and I) ate one of the eggs last night, he still has three left, and about 8 little eggs etc. Lucky boy!

I spent most of yesterday cleaning, the same again this morning. I ended up steam cleaning the kitchen floors and also wiping them with cloths, ds1 helped.

Henry has a cold still, which isn't fun. He woke a fair amount last night, but after a nap this morning he's playing in his bouncy chair.

FelixFelix · 22/04/2014 12:15

Hello all! Been a bit AWOL on here but just caught up. Still teething here Sad got Ashton & Parsons powder and also Anbesol liquid which both have great reviews online but they work for about 5 minutes then she's crying again! Ordered Sophie the giraffe from amazon last week and it's just arrived. It was £13 just for the giraffe or an extra £2 for a gift set with a soft vanilla teether in so I got the set. She is currently having a good old chew on poor Sophie! It's light enough for her to pick up and has lots of narrow bits for her to fit in her mouth. We have other chewy things but they seem to be too big and heavy for her.

I had about a week of Sylvie sleeping from 11pm-6am but now she's gone back to waking up at 3 for a feed. She's really hungry recently too and will have a bottle every 2 hours. My mum is still pushing me to feed her baby rice as she said it will fill her up! I'm still waiting until 6 months. Only 6 weeks to go...

Been a massive cliche and done loads of DIY this weekend, which involved a 1am A&E trip as DP managed to slice his finger with a Stanley knife Shock we are like a living DM article.

pumpkinsweetie · 22/04/2014 12:15

Humpty The swinging chair was also rejected by baby pumpkin too, so much so she just screams in itSad , although it cost me over £69 I decided to give it away to a lucky member on a free site as it was just taking space!

million glad you all had a nice easterSmile
Kids got lots of eggs and baby pumpkin got lots of soft toys and I dressed her as a chick for the day.

Hv came today to finally do 3m check, at 15 weeks pumpkin weighs 12lb 2. Quite surprised she doesn't weigh more, as she is quite a little chunk now!

pumpkin also screams in pain at least once or twice a day for an hour at a time. I think it's colic as it is usually late evening. I have been trying gripe water but hv says infacol is supposed to be really good so going to get some.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 22/04/2014 13:23

Poor Sylvie and baby pumpkin

tmi warning

i forgot to add, the second lot of tablets worked and we had sex yesterday! The Dr said that he doesn't know if these tablets will stop the bleeding properly, but so far it's been 4 days of no bleeding! I'm so freaking happy. Although I hope the bleeding doesn't start again, at least I've given my poor fanjo some time off sanpro. Still waiting for the referral to the hospital for the scan to check all is well.

I'm taking Henry to be weighed on Thursday. He will be 15wks 1 day. I really hope we've achieved the 10lb target.

spinnergeologist · 22/04/2014 14:10

Hi,

Infracol is great but you must use it before every feed or it won't work.

FelixFelix · 22/04/2014 14:38

Million that's good news! Hope they keep working Grin

Angelesque · 23/04/2014 12:46

Hello all - we're a quiet bunch at the mo!

Just kicking back with my enormous pile of thank you cards I need to write - F is 10 weeks, I'm so naughty Blush

Has anyone taken their tiny bastard little darling on a plane yet? I don't think I've seen anyone mention it yet on this thread but then my memory is shot these days... We're going to Italy in just over a week and am slightly dreading the flight. Anyone got any tips at all?

AMillionNameChangesLater · 23/04/2014 13:21

You'll be fine Angel just remember, you need never see any of these people again.

ds1 is in nursery all day today. I'm picking him up at five. So, thrillingly, I have:

a) cashed in all the shrap in the penny jar (£41.00)
b) mooched around Asda
c) tidied ds1's room
d) got distracted cleaning my room watching Gavin and Stacey

TarkaTheOtter · 23/04/2014 15:49

Hi angel. Took Alex and dd on plane to California on Monday. Was sat next to a lovely lady who was about to be a grandmother and cuddled Alex for me whilst I wrangled dd. I relied on the kindness of strangers a lot but it was fine.
Take a carrier if you have one and take a few trips up and down the aisle to get baby off to sleep once the seatbelt sign is off. I've read that you should feed during take off and landing to help their ears but Alex wasn't hungry but didn't seem in pain anyway.
Are you taking a pushchair?

AMillionNameChangesLater · 23/04/2014 18:11

Anyone else's 15 week old being a git about sleeping? Henry won't sleep properly in the day (day two of an hour nap all day) and takes ages to drop off at night. Once he's asleep he's totally fine though at nighttime

TobyLerone · 23/04/2014 19:05

Meredith is 15 weeks today (as you know, million) and I was just saying to DH that in the day this past week or so she's been sleeping 10 mins, 15 mins, 10 mins, 5 mins etc. Maybe an hour in total. She's ok at night, though.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 23/04/2014 19:58

Oh good Toby, it's always good to know it isn't just my baby :)

we have clinic tomorrow, if he's made it to 10lb, virtual Cake, Brew, and/or Wine on me!

TobyLerone · 23/04/2014 21:34

Good luck, Henry!

FelixFelix · 23/04/2014 22:25

Million & Toby, Sylvie went through a weird stage a couple of weeks ago where she wouldn't sleep in the day, and would go for about 5/10 minutes then wake up again. She's 17 weeks now and been back to normal for the past week so I think it's just a phase!

FelixFelix · 23/04/2014 22:26

Hope the weigh in goes well for Henry!

I'm just looking at car seats as we only have a group 0 one, and Sylvie is looking rather large in it. Apparently it's meant to last until 9 months but I can't see that happening! There's so much choice, it's really overwhelming!!! Shock
