What's the deal with threads being closed? Is there a post limit?

I am soooooo tired today. Archie has been really unsettled the last few nights from about 4am onwards. Sometimes he's hungry, sometimes he wants to play, sometimes he wants his dummy. The last two nights he's ended up in with us as it's easier to replug the dummy, pat etc.
YAWN.

Quick question, if anyone has the energy to reply...have you got your period back yet? I still haven't and am wondering if this is normal.

Naturegirl82 · 02/06/2014 16:27

mythree I haven't but am still ebf so think it's pretty normal (although I do have PCOS so no regular cycle anyway so maybe I'm not the best example!)

beccajoh · 02/06/2014 16:44

I'm on my third period, but am FF. DD was EBF and I didn't have my first period until I stopped feeding her altogether.

No period here yet. I thought it was coming back a couple of weeks ago, with some pain and spotting, but nothing came of it.

enormouse · 02/06/2014 17:12

I had one which followed on from the main bleeding post birth but have had nothing since. Also EBFing.

With DS1 (EBF) I didn't have any periods for a bout 13-14 months post birth.

Swannykazoo · 02/06/2014 19:08

Sign my eejit DH up for your idiot academy enormouse - I am now threatening to take every dish he leaves above the dishwasher annd put them in his side of the bed.

Still no periods here - hurray!

Have made a tiny foray into weaning (21/22 weeks I think)-little puggle will go mad for an apple thats been "started" and was crazy about barbecued corn on the cob but has remained unmoved by puree and unimpressed by cooked carrot sticks and mango wedges. Weird.

Has anyone noticed the previously inoffensive pooey nappies are now rank? Little puggle is doing farts like a trucker on a guinness binge...

Pidgy · 02/06/2014 19:10

No periods here either as I'm ebf. Didn't return with DS until he was 10 months or so when he would reliably sleep for an 8-9 hour block at night.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 02/06/2014 20:09

I bled for ages, ( 12ish weeks i think) after Henry, then with medication it stopped, then i had a regular period, now I'm on day 11 if still bleeding. I'm the exception though I'm aware

TarkaTheOtter · 02/06/2014 20:21

No periods here despite Alex (sort of) sleeping through. He was 5 months yesterday so crossing everything that we have escaped 5month sleep regression.

I'm also not weaning til 6months because of laziness allergy risk. Poor Alex. He actually dribbles at us eating. Not sitting up very well yet though even supported. Would rather stand so just planks when I try to get him in highchair.

FelixFelix · 02/06/2014 20:23

I got my period about 4-5 weeks after stopping bf. Although I've now been bleeding since a week before getting the damn coil put in and it's not stopped since. It's doing my head in Confused

Hello from Cairo!

Arrived last night, and now realising how stressed the tiny flat was making us. DD is v happy and a totally different child. So all well here. Smile

mythree I bf DD til almost two and I think she was around 15 months before I got my period back. She did keep up the night feeds though.

tarka Nour is the same. He tries to grab food from us too but not sitting well and I think theove is enough excitement for the next couple of weeks.

book can you fill us billy no mates non Facebook users in on the sling debate? I thought you couldn't use the ergo forward facing...Confused. Nour was still a tiny bit short for the ergobaby ventus at 62 cm and 7kg. I am giving up hope of it ever fitting but would really like to get shot of the baby bjorn.

puggle I love the photo!

FelixFelix · 02/06/2014 20:58

Altered glad you all arrived ok and dd is enjoying it! They have released a new Ergo called the 360 where you can have babies forward facing. But apparently the position is only recommended for 20 minutes or something equally as ridiculous Grin

alteredimages · 02/06/2014 21:05

Ahh, ok. That makes sense! I don't think I would enjoy forward facing for much longer than that, it really messes with your pelvic floor.

alteredimages · 02/06/2014 21:06

...or maybe that is just my pitiful core strength. Grin

MerryPops · 02/06/2014 21:27

Hi all, been reading but not had chance to post. All ok here. Alexander had his 16 week jabs last week and the nurse was horrendous, left him with swollen and bleeding thighs. Never again, Nurse Thatcher! (figures).

We are officially skint as I didn't get a bonus as expected from work and dh doesn't feel ready to start looking yet Hmm. I am determined I am not going back full time until August so a few months of cheap beans on toast ahead.

Had first baby swimming lesson today, he seemed to enjoy it but wasn't particularly impressed when you dunk their head under during Ring A Roses. Poor lad was like "Wtf, mummy?!"

Don't know if you've seen but there is a doc on Itv tomorrow at 9pm, Secret Life of Babies, about their development up to 2 years. Could be interesting? Also before that is a doc about the 1st year of a family of quads, which might make our lives seem less chaotic if nothing else!

Swannykazoo · 02/06/2014 21:33

Thanks to everyone who's been lovely about my photo Thanks Wine Cake I am a ridiculously proud mummy (of the photogenicness of my sprog rather than my frankly dodgy camera skills)
Am really looking forward to secret life of babies

enormouse · 02/06/2014 21:49

tarka there's allergy and atopy risk in the family (from me) and I'm not sure what to do. Cal seems ready and unsatisfied after feeds. I feel like I'm bfing him non stop and I'm exhausted. But I don't want to chance it with the allergies. I have no idea what to do. Do you happen to know what current advice is re allergies?

I'm slightly put off earlyish weaning as I tried to wean DS1 at about 5 months and did the whole Annabel karmel malarky with the frozen cubes of goo. He refused completely and ended up falling into blw at 7/8 months when he stole a takeaway prawn cracker and sat there munching it.

FelixFelix · 02/06/2014 21:57

Ooh I've set secret life of babies to record! Although I don't know how many secrets babies can hide from us (apart from their Facebook group of course)

TarkaTheOtter · 02/06/2014 22:09

enormouse I think the current advice is still to wait six months. Who knows what will come out of the EAT study and there are occasionally rumours about early introduction of allergens being beneficial but none of it peer-reviewed and published ATM. Think guidelines were reviewed pretty recently too and still say 6 months. I think there is some evidence that introducing allergens alongside breast milk can help, ie better to wean to solids before dropping bfing where possible.
I'm the same with eczema, asthma and hayfever. Also mum is intolerant to wheat and gluten and aunt has coeliacs. DH family ok though.

enormouse · 02/06/2014 22:38

Snap tarka, ezcema, asthma and allergies. It's a full house from me. I read a Swedish study that said introducing gluten at 4 months alongside breastfeeding was beneficial in the long run. But I haven't found anything else that backs it up.

May just have to tough it out till 6 months

MadameBonfamille · 03/06/2014 03:37

Hi everyone, becca - so sorry to hear about your poor health - rotten timing too, sounds like you have a supportive dh though & you seem really positive.

Felix I enjoyed reading your blog - I've been thinking about starting one but I never seem to find the time.
Altered - glad you're settling in well & your dd seems happy
My periods didn't start till I finished bf'ing with dd (I mix fed from 7-12 months too)
H has started solids this week - just a bit of baby rice this week which she seems to love (I'm not sure how - it's not very nice!) so I'll try some purée next week and then I plan to try a bit of blw when she's a bit bigger (5 months today). I also read a study about early weaning being better for allergies (and dd1 had an egg allergy when she was younger) - I think just go with your instinct as they change their minds all the time about what's best. I did everything by the book with my first and she still ended up the must difficult fussy child in every way!
Enormouse I will send my dh to idiot school - I shouldn't complain as he does an awful lot but it does annoy me that when they look after just one child they can't do anything else around the house - whereas I manage to multi task all the time!

Pidgy · 03/06/2014 03:55

Just quickly, I also read a recent study which suggested 6 months for introduction of allergens was too late, and that there was a window between 4-6 months. But, guidelines from NHS still say 6 months.

Glad you've made it altered and hope the next weeks are more settled and less stressful. Space is good!!

Second feed of the night as always. Can't wait until she drops one!!

MadameBonfamille · 03/06/2014 04:15

I feel your pain pidgy! H will go a few nights without a feed but it never lasts very long - feeling shattered today after a middle of the night poo incident!

MrsGSR · 03/06/2014 08:30

Just popping my head round the door so this goes back into my threads. Will have a proper catch up later!
