What's the deal with threads being closed? Is there a post limit?

I am soooooo tired today. Archie has been really unsettled the last few nights from about 4am onwards. Sometimes he's hungry, sometimes he wants to play, sometimes he wants his dummy. The last two nights he's ended up in with us as it's easier to replug the dummy, pat etc.
YAWN.

Also humpty probably not much consolation but sounds like a will be very clever. We have a baby Einstein play mat. (Which was recommended by someone on here) which amuses h for between 5-30 mins at a time

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 15/05/2014 21:46

Thanks all. We have a jumperoo (£30 second hand bargain on gumtree) but haven't really put her in it properly, other than to check it was vaguely the right size! Will give it a whirl. Feeling better for 6 hours sleep today.

altered I wash with a touch of Surcare at 40 whether it says so or not. Pooey nappies need washing liquid, I can't see any way to get them clean otherwise. I do use tiny amounts (less than 1/4 cap), so she doesn't get soap residue next to her skin, and so far, so good. Could you try a laundry ball if you don't want to flout the instructions try soap?

felix it's hard when things are such a slog to get to, isn't it? Do any of your NCT pals drive? Would you be comfortable asking for a lift now and then? I only just passed my test (a year ago) so am really conscious of what it's like to be without a car, and usually remember to offer, but I think people forget v fast and won't offer. I'm sure someone would be happy to help occasionally if asked. Also, look up which local cafés are breastfeeding friendly, the ones which are around here are rammed solid with mums and babies. It's easy to admire a random baby and start a conversation that way!

toby heh! that is delightful. Aren't babies so precious Grin

Gettingthroughthis · 16/05/2014 09:45

toby that sounds horrible!

TobyLerone · 16/05/2014 10:07

It was mostly funny. It was like when you get woken in the middle of the night because one of the children has been sick. You just stand there for a minute or so, surveying and thinking "what the hell do I sort out first?!"

AMillionNameChangesLater · 16/05/2014 10:13

toby i laughed, Ds1 did something similar loads of times when little

alteredimages · 16/05/2014 11:21

toby that is awesome. Good on her, if you can't roll in your own shit as happy as larry when you're a small baby, then that is an experience you will never have.

My youngest DB was left on the floor mid nappy change for a couple of minutes when Mum dashed upstairs to help one of us. He was about 7 months and just learning to crawl. We came back down to find he had pooed on the floor and had taken a handful. We all screamed "Nooooooo!" and jumped down the bottom few stairs but it was too late. Straight in the mouth!

We have never let him forget this, and he was never let us forget that we were neglectful siblings and parents. Blush

Naturegirl82 · 16/05/2014 11:23

O just rolled from back to front for the first time Grin

alteredimages · 16/05/2014 11:26

Hooray nature that's great!

Gettingthroughthis · 16/05/2014 11:26

Woop nature :)

alteredimages · 16/05/2014 11:28

Asda clothing order has just arrived and I am a total numpty. Thought I would be clever by ordering a size up for DD as she is quite wide across the back, but forgot that Asda clothes are the biggest I have ever seen. Confused I think she will be wearing these 4-5 clothes when she is seven.

Too used to tiny French sizes.

FelixFelix · 16/05/2014 12:11

Yay nature!!

Just got back from the doctors and HOLY CRAP THE COIL HURTS. I decided to get a taxi home and felt ok for the first five minutes afterwards then went dizzy and almost passed out when the taxi arrived. It's still hurting now and I feel sick. DP is at work until 4 but he's bringing me ibuprofen and lunch on his break. Eughhhhhhh Confused

pumpkinsweetie · 16/05/2014 12:28

Humpty Sorry to hear u had a rough night, I agree a jumperoo sounds great if baby wants to playSmile

The coil, I'm debating having this at done. I kind of need something more permanent, a little less hormonal as I found the arm implant horrendous, but at the same time I find the pill a pita having to remember it every day so going to have to brave it sooner or laterâ?¦

My washing machine, still hasn't been fixed as parts cannot be obtained until thursAngry the tank has a hole in it from a 2p apparently!
So handwashing it is and some to my mother's. Too tight wadded to pay for a service wash with a family of 7

alteredimages · 16/05/2014 12:30

Oh no felix. Sorry to hear it is so painful. I can't remember much about having mine fitted, but I remember being a bit uncomfortable for the rest of the day and having some light bleeding. Make sure your DH looks after you, feeling sick and being dizzy don't sound good so if you feel worse make sure you see a doctor or call nhs direct.

alteredimages · 16/05/2014 12:32

pumpkin no washing machine til thursday is really rough. Mine is still playing up too and I hate to think how much crap must have gotten in there.

I don't blame you for not wanting to pay for a service wash. Isn't there any way you can just do the lot at your Mum's?

AMillionNameChangesLater · 16/05/2014 15:35

Whoop babynature!

I've had my nephews over for most of the day. They are 3 and almost 2. So 4 boys, 3, 2.7, 20months, and Henry. My house is totally trashed! All the toys are out, the garden has loads of stuff out, and my kitchen is a dump. It was pretty tidy before they came over. I cant bring myself to clean again

TobyLerone · 16/05/2014 15:47

million, that sounds like hell!

felix, hope you feel better soon Flowers

pumpkin, I feel your pain. My washing machine is on the way out and I'm dreading it going, especially as we use reusables!

Speaking of reusables, thanks to whoever mentioned the Tesco offer :) I can't remember who it was. But I've just ordered some :)

Yay, nature!

Well, I am the owner of a baby who has not slept At All today. She's driving me crazy because she's knackered. And it's started to take 2 hours to get her in bed in the evenings. It's very tiresome.

FelixFelix · 16/05/2014 16:54

Thanks everyone. Sylvie was an angel and went to sleep so I had an nap for an hour and a half (!!!!!!!!!!) and feel loads better for it. He also came home with a huge bunch of flowers Grin

Pumpkin, rubbish washing machines! I don't know how I'd cope having to handwash everything. I'd not pay for a service wash either as it's expensive.

Million that sounds like my idea of hell. I have loads of housework to do with one baby never mind loads of toddlers.

BookTart · 16/05/2014 20:16

Glad you're feeling a bit better felix

No naps here again today toby. I think they are ganging up on us...

HV came today and was surprisingly reasonable about me not having managed to get Percy to nap in her crib on demand etc. We've left it that I'll contact her if I need her, which suits me much better Smile

I hope you all have nice plans for the weekend. We're off to London on the train for my nephew's 8th birthday party tomorrow. Still not sure how to do it. I think we should take the pushchair and carry it up the tube stairs, but DH only wants to take the Baby Bjorn. I can't believe I agreed to go at all!

TobyLerone · 16/05/2014 21:03

Yay. Glad you got rid of the Hell Visitor, book :o

How much tube do you have to do tomorrow? The lifts at St Pancras are a special sort of hell and I'd always choose the sling over the pushchair as long as I can.

We're going to Westfield tomorrow. Might see you on the train!

Angelesque · 16/05/2014 23:08

Just went on the Fifa website to order F an official England babygro. Can you make out "mug" tattooed on my forehead?! Apparently it will take three weeks to arrive.

We did our first Aquababies class yesterday - I loved it. The instructor is amazing. So pleased we've got at least one regular class booked in... Was finding we were struggling to leave the house... In awe of you guys who have loads of classes booked, seriously impressed!

Can't believe weaning is looming. Bit scared of how the nappies will change at that point - breastfed nappies seem so benign!

TobyLerone · 16/05/2014 23:11

We sat Meredith up at the table in her new highchair while we had dinner tonight. She stared at us the whole time. It was quite unnerving :o

Angelesque · 17/05/2014 00:00

So jealous... Whenever we go
In a restaurant and they offer a high chair we still have to say no :( although he's younger than you guys (13 1/2w) he has amazing head control (honest he does, not PFB) - do you reckon we could do high chair? He does Bumbo but obit for about 10 mins before he gets tired.

Also: I Am A Shit Mum q. How do I get F weighed? No ZhV since 8 weeks, and no-one seems to care how much he weighs now...

Pidgy · 17/05/2014 02:08

It's amazing how much chaos toddlers can cause. million. I sometimes wonder why I bother tidying as DS can untidy it as fast as I put things away.

I'm on feed 2 and it's only 2am. She seems v hungry at the moment. Not sure I'm making enough milk. Can't wait to wean her. Lara is still pretty floppy though! She does hold her head up but is quite slumped when I put her in a sitting position so not sure she'd be classed as 'ready' to wean. No rolling yet either the lazy little monkey!
DS was the same. I think I have physically late developing babies. I'm enjoying the fact that I can leave her somewhere and she stays put. My life will get a whole lot more difficult when they are both into things. Might invest in a playpen for Lara and a ball and chain for DS.

Pidgy · 17/05/2014 02:13

angel we have clinics run by hv around here and in London where we previously lived. They are often at sure start centres, libraries or doctors surgeries. Can you phone your hv to ask where yours might be.
Otherwise, could try the bathroom scales? Stand on with and without him and deduce his weigh that way. We have digital ones so is ok for accuracy although hv might disagree!

TobyLerone · 17/05/2014 05:56

angel, the highchair we have has a blow-up cushion which goes inside it and is very supportive. She'd never be able to go in a normal highchair. She's just too small, despite being 18wo. She's very strong, and does all the right things, but she's definitely not ready for a normal highchair yet.

I'm also not in a rush to wean her. She's started to show an interest in food, but she's no way ready yet.
