Apart from the 'down under' contingent anyway!

Now dd is up!

ValiumQueen · 17/03/2014 03:21

I have been up with J for hours. His face has come out in a nasty rash and his temp is up. Full of snot. Deffo teething but deffo viral too. He is now singing Row row row your boat. Great. I have fucking work tomorrow. We have managed to disturb DH several times, which helps Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 17/03/2014 05:52

DD1 ill here. Feverish. Will take her temp at breakfast and decide on nursery. It's her birthday tomorrow, so I suppose it would be continuing a tradition to be ill on special days Hmm

Zamboni · 17/03/2014 05:52

Shitty night here too VQ and flouncy, so lots of sympathy. S's cough/ bot/dribble/ teeth are making him miserable. Squirmy trantrumy kicking me, crying out, throwing his dummy awAy rages.

eliza S has rivers of ear wax. I do use ear buds. It can take 6 tips to clean one ear and it needs doing again within days. I use buds v carefully around the outside of the ear but have to massively resist the temptation to go further. I also catch sight of it from time to time and think how neglected the poor boy looks!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/03/2014 06:28

We don't seem to have excessive ear wax, but after dd 1 had a lot if hearing problems I stopped cleaning ears all, together and noticed that the ear just balls it up and chucks it out sometimes. But maybe if we had lots I wouldn't do that. (I read that article too)

me and DH are awke but no one else is. Confused

StuntNun · 17/03/2014 07:01

Are you doing anything nice for DD1's birthday PR?

I don't think I could handle the excitement of a 10ft trampoline. We have one of those little square ones with the handle. DH wants to get a swing set but I think our garden is too titchy. We already have a swing and a little climbing frame, maybe a small slide for J would be good.

Everyone in my family has earwax problems due to small ear canals. I use Otex every so often but for a toddler it would have to be olive oil drops. If you put them in while they're in the bath then it doesn't matter so much when if they dribble out.

Sooo... we have had two sleep throughs in a row after J being off cows milk for a week. I suppose the next step is to give him cows milk again and see if there's a reaction? I have no idea what to tell the doctor; J doesn't seem to have a problem with cheese or yoghurts so why would milk stop him sleeping?

Vq Horrible about sickness and being awake and work in mornings but what a smart little cookie with his singing so so sweet. I'm guessing it's less sweet in the early hours for you though

ChasingDaisy · 17/03/2014 07:13

Oh VQ, poor J Sad and poor you SadSad What a little trooper he is though - you can already tell what a wonderfully stoic, brave young man he's going to turn out to be.

Today marks the start of my last week as a SAHM as I start work on Friday. Am taking O to toddler group for the last time today Sad My dad will be taking him from next week which will be bloody hilarious as O is that kid who never sits still during story time, so god knows what my dad will make of it all Grin as O loves it and gets so much out of it, but I'm really going to miss going.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/03/2014 07:50

stunt cheese and yogurt are easier to digest than milk. Something about proteins in the milk which are broken down in follow on milk and dealt with in cheese and yoghurt

We have got DD1's present and have bought balloons and will make cakes to take into nursery tomorrow as she is having a party tomorrow afternoon.

We'll have another cake tomorrow evening. And roast chicken as that is her favourite. In a couple of hours it will be three years exactly since the pessary was put in and I was sent home to get my bag and go to hospital. I had been having strong bh contractions for three weeks and was pretty fed up.

DD1 has gone in today despite mild fever. Hope she's ok tomorrow.

YellowWellies · 17/03/2014 10:30

Stunt secondary agriculture (making milk into cheese and yogurt) arose to allow milk to last longer but also because it made milk palatable for the large segment of the neolithic population who couldn't digest cow's milk. It's one of the reasons I'm a bit Hmm of the palaeolithic diet trend and it's view that the optimal human diet was that of hunting and gathering - infant mortality fell rapidly from the late neolithic thanks to secondary agriculture. Even today lots of people (especially infants) can handle secondary milk products but not milk. Dairy and egg intolerance is often linked too. Given J can handle milk products directly in his diet - I don't reckon it'll be long before he outgrows it - it must be pretty mild.

FatimaLovesBread · 17/03/2014 10:55

Morning all!
Thanks for all the birthday wishes! Didn't do much Friday but Saturday went out for cocktails and a meal. Spent most of yesterday feeling worse for wear.

Got this week off work but M is still in childcare so I can get some proper spring cleaning jobs done. Aiming to have a complete blitz and clear out. Although M had another hideous night last night so I spent this morning catching up on sleep and not been up long.

Right, off to make a nice long list and get started

MsJupiter · 17/03/2014 10:57

Poor J and VQ. Sad Hope you are not having too bad a day of it.

L's nappy was stuck to his bottom this morning and had bloody patches when I peeled it away. We put Metanium on last night, which was partly what stuck to him I think. Maybe too much or should have let it dry first? Feel very sorry for him.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/03/2014 11:36

Ooh that's really interesting yw - one of those posts that makes me want to go and learn about something interesting.

As it is I am writing texts that say things like: if you are a businesswoman wearing x brand of overpriced shoes will help you succeed in your business deals.

And wearing y brand of even more overpriced shoes will have irresistible men falling at your feet in droves.

Which is quite a scary image. Tempted to add so make sure 999 is in your speed dial.

Patronising bollocks.

All god clean outs start with lists fatima :)

jupiter Welleda calendula oil is great for sore bums. Very gentle and moisturises well just be careful to make sure none of it gets inside any bits to irritate.

ValiumQueen · 17/03/2014 11:47

Ouch JJ. Poor wee boy Hmm metanium should be used really sparingly. You should be able to see the skin tone through it. Perhaps you did put a bit too much on. If a bot is particularly sore, I put cream on top too. Not sure if that is right or not but seems to work for boy.
I am at work. I do not want to be at work. Grandma has two of my children and Daddy finishes at lunch time. I want to be home though and am getting little done. I am so tired Hmm
I am off tomorrow and Wednesday and had great things planned but I will be home with at least one sick kid, which is great I can be, but poo to not being able to have my hair cut and eyes tested spend day in bed

ValiumQueen · 17/03/2014 11:49

I am thinking of doing a sideways move at work. Still shit pay but going away from clinical into quality improvement. It may be a way of moving up the ranks as it is quite niche. I think I will apply, as until I am offered a post there is no decision to make.

ChasingDaisy · 17/03/2014 12:15

Sounds like a good move VQ - as you say, you should definitely apply and then worry about the decision when you get offered the job. Which of course you will, as you are ace.

I am very proud of O today. When we started at the children's centre 6 months ago, he was very shy and clung to me the whole thing. Now he is without doubt, the most confident kid at his toddler group, despite being one of the youngest and the only non-walker (bar his few steps yesterday Grin) he spends the whole time batting his eyelids at the ladies and trying to show off. He barely gives me a backwards glance. Am vair proud.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/03/2014 12:25

That's lovely Chasing

Sounds like a good plan VQ would that take you away from a client-facing role?

Just handed in my project due Wednesday and spent a long time chatting to my ex shrink this morning about playdates for our children. Eek. She only made one reference to our time together which I hopped, skipped and jumped over saying yes, well everything is fine now, and went back to talking about the little darlings.

ValiumQueen · 17/03/2014 12:31

It would PR. From a clinical point of view anyway. I would be interviewing them to get opinions, along with families and carers, but it would be over all areas of healthcare. TBH I think I am almost burned out from client contact. I resent them as I would rather be looking after by kids, and that is not good. Not all the time, just when they are ill.

I need a change from this shit.

Pikz · 17/03/2014 12:39

Stunt we have done a week now off cows milk and on follow on milk and I've had a week of sleep!!

I've got lots to right about making some big decisions at work but will have to save it for after work.

Lily311 · 17/03/2014 12:53

Can I have opinions pls? Which one would you choose?

Or this one

Lily311 · 17/03/2014 12:55

They are appr the same price apart from the green which is cheaper by £30 but smaller as well. Really not sure which one to go for. Sold many of her toys now so nearly have the money to order it.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/03/2014 13:07

Prefer the second one. For the only reason that I find it more aesthetically pleasing!!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/03/2014 13:10

I was going to do my shred while O slept but there are too many men on tractors fussing about.

After that mad high temp on Saturday evening and deposited having very heavy, hunky looking eyes he seems stacks better. It was all ode to the fact little children can get very ill all of a sudden but bounce back just as quickly.

vq all sounds like a good idea. I remember ages ago you mentioned seeing about becoming an HV. Have you had any more thoughts about that? I think it would be a good idea.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/03/2014 13:19

Client facing work is v tiring.

I'd go for the third one Lily it's similar to the one I would have got if I'd not left it to last minute. As it is she's getting a quite nice but plAstic one tomorrow.
