We have quite a range of ages and they each develop at their own rates... so what can your toddler do?

Hello Flouncy are you all tanned? Has J settled down again now he's got used to you being back?

Lily we had DS1 with a local retiree for a while after he got kicked out of afterschool care. She wasn't a registered childminder so there was an element of chance to it but they got on well for a while. Unfortunately he was going through a difficult stage at the time (he has SN) and it didn't work out long term but other than that it was a good arrangement. I would look for someone that has another child on a regular or occasional basis, such as a grandparent.

MsJ unfortunately things are definitely calmer and easier all round when DH is travelling. Hmm We're getting to the end of what I will put up with but leaving is much easier said than done. Basically I would not be able to manage all three on my own, DS1's special needs are too difficult for that. So I'm hoping DH will be able to sort himself out. I have spoken to him at length and I'm hoping I have planted a seed in his mind that will develop into something. He's in complete denial about his parents abusing him (dad is a classic narcissist, mum has emotional issues). He can't reconcile the fact that they love him with the fact that they abused him as a child. Unfortunately he sees things in black and white so he can't understand that good parenting intentions don't automatically mean good parenting. Then that extends to his children as well, they're either all good or all bad, no grey areas.

Sophia I can come down tomorrow and drive you to get your car if you like. Road trip?

Pikz it's interesting about cows milk affecting sleep. I remember YW and PR mentioning it a while back but as J has never slept well then I didn't put two and two together. I bought a couple of big cartons of follow on milk today so I'll try that for a couple of days then do a test of cows milk at bedtime later in the week. With regard to ttc Pikz I highly recommend charting your basal body temperature and cervical mucous. It's a bit of a pain as you have to take your temperature before you even get out of bed in the morning but identifying when you are ovulating makes ttc a lot easier. Even using charting it still took us months to conceive and I suspect I had a few chemical pregnancies in that time. Secondary infertility was definitely an issue for us, perhaps due to age or maybe we were just lucky previously.

lily Advertising won't do any harm. it sounds a tough situation.

pikz My cycle always has been and still is all over the place. I have never managed to figure out my lmp. That's very positive for you and yes, look forward to your wedding and enjoy the fact you will be in fine form for it and able to have a drink or too. I can imagine it's tough but try not to dwell on it all the time, make sure you just enjoy having L and do lots of things that are tricky when you have 2.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 11/03/2014 11:38

stunt that is a very kind and lovely offer. If the weather is like this would be wonderful! I am hoping they get back to me with a solution, I have now been back and forth with them since 09:30 is just ridiculous. I am dealing directly with Ford at the moment rather than the dealership so will see where that gets me.

TheDetective · 11/03/2014 12:06

Sophia What the actual fuck are they doing with your car?! Seriously. Go kick some ass!

Lily What happened? What options are there for childcare in Hungary?

Pikz I hope this month is successful for you. It's all consuming isn't it?
Those shoes are super cute! Bet L looks really smart in them!

Pass I've got some Astonish (65p in home and bargains hooray!) which is fucking awesome. DP did the sink last night. It looks beautiful. As does the rest of my house which has been Astonished the fuck out of. What amazing stuff that is! Everything that wouldn't clean up before, is now clean! We have 5 tubs of it in the cupboard now (and it lasts ages!).

JJ I've googled - is this them? www.zalando.co.uk/superfit-cooly-high-top-trainers-red-le316a00e-305.html. I don't see how any shop can justify prices over £20 for baby shoes ffs! Or any childrens shoes. Ridiculous!

What the fuck has happened to my child?

He slept til 11am. 11fuckingAM. Please don't kick/shout at me. I am amazed. Like in shock amazed. I honestly never thought I'd see the day where I could say O is a sleeper. We've always been up and down with good and bad sleep, but good is being consistent now. And I'm about to go fuck it all up with a dairy challenge. Remind me of this when I'm in despair in the middle of the night with endless wake ups Hmm.

We had to wake him too Blush.

DS1 was at his dads last night, and me and DP off work. So there was no noise or alarms to wake him at the usual 7.30-8 this morning. And this was the result Shock.

I think DS1 can sleep in the shed. I'll put some electric in there for his hairdryer Grin.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 11/03/2014 12:17

It is fixed det, finally. But it is over an hour away and they took my courtesy car off me last Thursday. They put a call through to the car hire people at 6 pm on Friday to bring me another car. They said they couldn't bring one out to me me over the weekend. I said is ok, I just need one to go and collect my car. They said yesterday that I would have one today at lunch time if they couldn't get the dealer to bring my car to me. But when I phoned this morning they had closed the job and weren't bringing Me a car. And the dealership won't deliver it back to me. I am being shafted from all angles.

I said if I knew first thing this morning I could bus it to get the car as it would be three buses and would probably take me most of the day. And I can only do that on a Tuesday as the boys are in nursery. It is now 12:16 and they are not getting back to me I keep having to call them.

I am raging to be honest.

Go snooze ins O. I wish I had stayed in bed today.

TheDetective · 11/03/2014 12:20

Twitter? Name and shame the garage?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 11/03/2014 12:22

I don't have facility to tweet. This is worth setting up an account for.

TheDetective · 11/03/2014 12:32

Yes it is!

I have one which I don't use but if you start a Fred on MN others might re-tweet for you!

PetiteRaleuse · 11/03/2014 13:07

Urgh I have clothing descriptions coming out of my eyeballs. Never again will I refer to my green top as that green top. I will mention its ribbed sleeves, its shimmering fabric, its quality topstitching, and compare the green to something like a fresh meadow, spring leaves or algae, or snot. I will reel off items from my wardrobe that may go with it, and tell you how fabulously bohemian chic I will look, unless I choose to go for a city chic glam look. I will then tell you exactly what I should be doing while wearing every combination from my wardrobe with my mucous coloured top. I could be gardening if I wear it with flipflops. Or walking along the beach if matched with sandals. Or windowshopping if I wear it with cork wedges. My green top is so fucking versatile it's just CRAAZZZY I tell ya.

FFS. Who writes the blurb for fashion catalogues? Translating them is like pulling teeth.

Sorry about the car soph sounds like a real PITA.

Shall be ranting on FB later re a company car problem my DH has just had thrown at him. It's a freaking racket.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/03/2014 13:20

oooooh

You're allowed to do this 6 times a day now.

This is the first picture I got to in my laptop btw. Snow from a couple of years ago.

Pikz · 11/03/2014 14:05

You can have a pic of my bouquet... It's made of clay!

November 2012 - Walking or not walking, talking or not talking, any other skillz?
TheDetective · 11/03/2014 14:09

Is there a prize for the most random pic?!

Did anyone read the Fred where someone photocopied their cat?! I want shit like that please!

I'm happy. The children's centre have just sent me a list of groups and there are some toddler ones in the morning hooray! There is one called physibodies. Think that sounds like it would be suitable for Mr Runaround. And it's Monday morning so DP can take him and I can if I am off/on a late/night shift.

That's the benefit to working shifts. I still get to take O to things now and then. :) I like working lates at the moment as I leave when he goes for his nap and get the best part of the day with him. :)

PetiteRaleuse · 11/03/2014 17:17

Envy of groups.

But I'll be starting Wednesday activities in September. On my street we have a dojo and handball courts. How old do you have to be to start martial arts?

PurplePidjin · 11/03/2014 17:27

6 ish pr?

R woke with red round his eye. By lunchtime it was green and gunky, then it spread to both. I went to the pharmacist but he's too young for otc stuff so he's got the dr at 9 tomorrow. I'm off work in case it's conjunctivitis and I'm infectious Sad but yay because i'm knackered and want a soak in a hot bath

Then we're meeting a friend for lunch in kiddicare and to try on wedding dresses Grin

PurplePidjin · 11/03/2014 17:28

Chasing pm me your address

Lily311 · 11/03/2014 18:42

My childcare options are childminder till August than nursery from that. Childminders here charge up to 3x more than nurseries and I can't afford that even though I know O would be happier in a home setting. But maybe the childminder is a good option for her to get used to childcare. I need to find a job first though. I maniacally made some doctor's appointment and need to renew my driving licence before I even apply for some jobs. Anyone else left with varicose vein after pregnancy? I have one thick one on my right leg and seeing a specialist on Thursday. I know it needs to be operated on as it's too thick for injections or laser treatment so trying to schedule that ASAP too. As for what happened? Don't want to mention it, another hit from life but I will not let it get to me.

I have shelves in my pantry. I'm ridicoulusly happy.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/03/2014 19:39

Sounds like you're having a shit time lily

Passmethecrisps · 11/03/2014 20:03

Ooooooooo! Pictyoors!

November 2012 - Walking or not walking, talking or not talking, any other skillz?
Passmethecrisps · 11/03/2014 20:05

That bouquet is fabulous!!! I wish I had gone for something a bit more unusual. I wanted one made of buttons but DH didn't like

Passmethecrisps · 11/03/2014 20:06

pr are you writing about bodies being 'bikini ready'?

PetiteRaleuse · 11/03/2014 20:21

Nope. Definitely not. Am doing autumn and winter stuff right now for next season. I hope never to have to translate bikini ready. I am getting a lot of 'ethnic chic' though which makes me cringe. Fricking patronising term.

Kyz · 11/03/2014 20:31

Hiiii guys, hows everyone?

Thanks pr my headache has gone now thankyou :) E has been a wee bit of a whingebag big massive whingebag today but we've got through it thankfully! I don't hold out much hope for tonight though, but we'll see :)

I didn't realise so many peopele left monitors off at night time, I hadn't even considered it Blush I know i'm a bit, what's the word, I'm a bit of a worrier. The monitor is a video one and I have it on 4/8 volume and I have the screen on all the time at night Blush. He is in the room next to ours BlushBlush maybe it's time to wean myself off of it? I had gotten to the point where I would have the volume on 3/8 and the screen off and then he got poorly with tonsilitis and i'm back like this again. I just get paranoid I won't hear him if he needs me. Am I being too precious? I am, aren't I. If he wakes in the night he often just lies there and goes back to sleep but I cannot go back to sleep if he is awake.

That book sounds good sophia, after reading what you put about never asking twice i have realised i repeat instructions to e about a million times over and I didn't realise I did that. I will work on not doing so quite as much!

I have noticed that too det most things are 'circus' colours, all bright and primary, or all girly and pink. E has lots of brightly coloured lovely toys, but if he chose a pink one he'd have a pink one. He had a pink lamaze dolly and he does have a little pink pushchair that FIL really disapproves of but he chose those so that's what he's got.

hows your ironing pile det? I am still ignoring mine....

dental dams, you lot are filthy! Wink

Evil your new vacuum sounds like a fab one :) so glad you've had a lovely day yesterday, your ex is a twat for not bothering with N, but he's the one missing out, he really is. You are doing so well :)

Hope you've had a better day fatima

chasing I am also hoping you have had a better day today, big hugs

Glad you had a better night last night stunt :)

Also glad you had a sleep through yw

Hiii Flouncy!!

pikz try not to worry, I know it's easier said than done but hopefully it'll all happen soon enough for you :)

hope you manage to sort something lily I don't think that advertising will do any harm :) Have some hugs, sounds like you need them

Sophia I can't believe you've had so much trouble with your car!

gosh det 11am is a late wakeup!

bless him pp hope he's better soon

TheDetective · 11/03/2014 21:12

Kyz I am certain I would still be putting the monitor on out of habit if ours wasn't broken.

I'd love a video monitor, just purely for watching him on Grin. I often wish I could see what he is up to in there!

I'm tempted to buy one to be honest. I am sure there will be times when I need one when he goes in to a bed and will certainly need a new monitor for the next baby Grin.

Lily Hugs Thanks I really don't know what advise to give you, as things are different over there Confused so hugs are all I can offer. And a fuck off to the twats if that helps too??!

PR WTF is dojo?! I am very thankful for the groups.

Tomorrow I am going to the toddler group. I am then going to buy some crayons, card and paints as we have none. Expect pictures of masterpieces on facebook tomorrow Grin Blush. Or perhaps not! I might do an arse print once all children are in bed Grin.

I got the paddling pool and put the balls in it this afternoon. O had lots of fun. Until the dog poo incident Hmm. I am going to have to fence off the grass. It's not safe. What do other dog owners do? :( She needs to go out there, and we can't pick the poo up every single time as it's often dark, and we have no outdoor light and can not see a thing.

We've had a massive developmental leap yesterday and today. Which pretty much explains away the massive lie in, the one hour nap, and the desperation for bedtime by 6.45pm Hmm.

He's learned to touch his toes and a couple of other things. He understands and reacts to no. He suddenly wants to please me by being good and getting praise Grin. He's mastered climbing up and down stairs holding on to something. He's just been super cute all day. He's really changing in front of my eyes. So glad I've had some days off with him like this!

I have a question - are all the babies pointing? O has never ever pointed. Either because he wants something, or just for pointings sake. I read earlier they should be doing it around 9 months to communicate. Is this a problem? Is this why his understanding hasn't been so great?

Elizadoesdolittle · 11/03/2014 21:22

We have first steps Smile She must have noticed my winging the other day. It was just before bed so no time to build on it but she did it a few times and was very pleased with herself. We were up in DD1's bedroom at the time and DD1 shouted down to DH to tell him to come up as E was walking so he dashed slauntered upstairs. Was a lovely moment. Think she's a long way off proper walking but it's a start.

Then DD1 actually read some words from her story to me which amazed me. I didn't realise how well she was doing with letters. Must make an effort to get her involved in recognising words and letters rather than me just reading to her.

Oh and my bro in law and sis in law (not sure what you call her but we are very close) won pointless tonight.

Feeling very proud tonight.
