Hi all - the old thread was about to run out so I started a new one.

Little Miss was up to mischief last night. Thankfully it's DHs day off today so he took her into bed with him while I slept in the spare room. She is just so excitable when she wakes up at night. It can can 90 minutes to scrape her off the ceiling.

I have no idea how people manage to co-sleep. Bought E into bed this morning to feed and in the 15 minutes she's been here, she's been pinching my nose, trying to pull off my eyebrow, squealing in my ear and tried to gouge my eyeball out with her thumb. Relaxing I think not.

Sunbeam18 · 21/03/2014 07:46

A long-sought good night here - asleep from 8pm-710am with about 4 wake ups in total (2 before I was asleep) that only took 5 minutes of boob to knock him back to sleep.

Those whose babies sleep 10 or 11 hours a night - do they do this straight without waking at all??

MrsBri · 21/03/2014 07:47

Amy's the same, Aloha. I don't think she's the co-sleeping type. Thankfully!

pinkbear82 · 21/03/2014 07:55

Hello all, am still around! Made some apple muffins t'other day which have gone down amazingly well.

Will catch up properly soon

rrreow · 21/03/2014 11:21

Apple muffins!! That'll be next on the list then. My freezer is going to be so full..

I recently got a slow cooker. LOVE IT. My only complaint is that it's a bit small for batch cooking (can fit 2-3 family portions in, depending on what it is - I prefer to make 4 or more at a time for a well-stocked freezer).

ElizaDitz · 21/03/2014 13:01

Sunbeam18 my baby goes down around 7/7:30pm with one wake around 5am then back down till 7/7:30. He sleeps solidly for most of the night with the odd twitch here and there. He occasionally moves about-he loves to rock his body and shake his head and has done this since birth :)

When he does wake at 5am he either whines (so I just leave him in the hope he'll settle back) if he starts to properly cry then I go in and feed him and put him back down.

Last night he woke coughing and whining here and there but I just watched him on the monitor (in between battling to keep my own eyes open) he started to head rock (cue to me he's starting to self-settle) so I just left him then he went back to sleep, or at least I think so as I went back to sleep in the end!!

SunnyL · 21/03/2014 15:25

BREAKING NEWS!! DH was looking after Miss Lily today and got her to nap in her cot. No idea how he did it but I shall make sure he looks after more in futureGrin

Thanks for all your thoughts re the wedding. I'm still umming and aahing about it but I think I might wimp out.

OP posts:
Mrs81 · 21/03/2014 16:58

Wow Sunny! That's the holy grail of napping in my book. If he has any tips then do send them this way (I hope he doesn't just say - "I put her in and she went to sleep").

DS has been off colour for a couple of days, high temperature and mega clinginess. DH gets to go out to play tonight, I'm ever so slightly jealous Envy

Mrs81 · 21/03/2014 17:32

Does anyone know what the deal is re overlapping baby paracetamol and ibuprofen? Temp of 39.5 Sad

MaryWestmacott · 21/03/2014 17:41

oh on the little on friendly food ideas, can I suggest the cbeebies "I can cook" website for recipes? DS is rather in love with Katie from I can Cook so we end up doing a lot of her recipes, the carrot and butternut squash cookies were very popular!

SunnyL · 21/03/2014 17:59

Mrs you can give both at once. They're different so no problems. Hope little one feels better soon.

And yes - DHs explanation was 'she looked tired so I put her in her cot and after 5 minutes she went to sleep for an hour and a half'.

Its clearly a day for firsts though as she has just crawled for the first time. I got a bit teary. I never cry. Wink

OP posts:
Mrs81 · 21/03/2014 18:13

Thanks Sunny. Think I'll go for overlapping if need be so to be able to dose more frequently. But good to know there can be a double hit of drugs if need be.

Wowsers to crawling. Are you babyproofed? Am sure you aren't the first to shed a tear at such a monumental thing Wink

Poor ds is hot, bothered and just wants boob and sleep. I have tucked myself up with a pint of water, phone and radio 4 to see me through.

Sunbeam18 · 21/03/2014 19:19

Sunny, send your DH over here tomorrow - I dream of a cot nap. I walked for 45 mins with pram this afternoon to facilitate the nap - the nap lasted 45 mins and ended the minute I shut the front door. Hmmm.

We now have 'getting up to standing position while holding onto bits of furniture' here. However, he can't then get down without falling so it's a high maintenance stage.

Sunbeam18 · 21/03/2014 19:21

Eliza - love the sound of rocking his body! Cute!

pinkbear82 · 21/03/2014 19:23

We have clapping, pulling to standing and furniture surfing and she wants to be on her feet all the time. Even in the bath tonight she was pulling herself up.

I hope tonight is a good night, been afflicted with a tummy bug and would really like sleep. Might just do a DP and not hear. There's milk and bottles I could have the night off...clearly delusional!

MrsBri · 22/03/2014 06:25

Pink! Are you OK? How're your parents?

My cookbook arrived safely yesterday, just my silicone tray to appear now. Do I grease the tray or is it suitably non-stick without me doing that?

I'm looking forward to cooking some treats for Amy. :-)

I'm not who asked, maybe Sunbeam, but when Amy sleeps for over 10 hours, it depends. The other day when she woke before 6, she'd gone to sleep at about 6.30 (after having a bottle at about 4.30), woken for a bottle just before 10, then slept through from there.

Last night she had a bottle just after 8, went to sleep by 8.30 and is still asleep now.

She does shout / cry in her sleep sometimes, like when she's lost her cuddly toys, but that just disturbs us not her!

Basically, it depends on what time she has a bottle as to whether it's unbroken sleep or not.

MadameJ · 22/03/2014 07:52

I have seriously had enough!!!! Both girls full of cold again and coughing. Dd1 being a complete drama queen about it as always so I have had zero sleep. Sorry for moaning but this is really getting me down now and I can't really tell anyone in rl :-(

pinkbear82 · 22/03/2014 07:57

Mrsbri... Next question re the parents! Dad has been in and out of hospital, since he was discharged after his op. It's not been smooth or without complications. Mum, however, has been really good, which is great. Conclusion being she had a mini stroke and thankfully all returned to normal. So highs and lows.

I'm still standing so All good there too Smile

I'm going to go look at these cook books, your all tempting me to do some more cooking!

Mrs81 · 22/03/2014 08:14

Oh madame. Moan away and a virtual Brew for you.

Cookbooks: the River Cottage baby/toddler book is fab as well and comes with a really (imo) well written chunk at the start about weaning and how to cope with fussy stages.

DS, after being feverish most of the night, is now 3 degrees cooler and in better form this morning. I predict another sleepy day for him though, presumably followed by a very hungry day!

MadameJ · 22/03/2014 09:55

I know I shouldn't moan really as there are others much worse off but christ it's being such a shitty 3 months with one thing after another. I also depressed myself yesterday when I realised I haven't had any time on my own at all since I was 20 weeks pregnant (and that was for a bloody medical procedure!!).

Things need to change but I don't know how?

Mrs81 · 22/03/2014 12:12

Time away from it all is so important Madame. I find it hard enough with one dc, so hats off to you with more than one. I find that I need to specifically coordinate it, otherwise it simply doesn't happen and life hurtles along regardless.

Just back from sling library. We chose a Beco Soleil (now just need to choose which pattern/how girly is too girly for DH). Probably the best 97quid I've spent on my back!

AlohaMama · 22/03/2014 13:04

glad to hear your parents are doing well pink.

i've heard good things about the river cottage book too. i think someone said it's nice for the whole family rather than being baby-specific meals but i might have got that confused with another book.

MrsBri, I can't remember but I think you may have to use some kind of grease the first few times till it becomes seasoned. AFter that you don't have to do anything. I love the beco sling, very pretty, very similar to the one I used to have and nice patterns too!

hedgehogy · 22/03/2014 14:47

We were given the River Cottage Baby & Toddler Cookbook as a gift. It's a great book.

MrsBri · 23/03/2014 17:17

Oh my, the cheese and spinach muffins taste amazing!

The banana ones are very, very moist and took an age to bloody cook!

I've now got a loaf of bread in the oven after using the muffin baking time for proving. I've not made bread since I was a child, with my mum. Hopefully it'll be OK!

I quite like this cookbook. :-)

Mrs81 · 23/03/2014 18:22

Impressive bake-a-thon Mrsbri Smile

DS is still running a fever and calpol isn't always doing anything. He's only having milk (bf) and refuses all other food. Would you speak to a GP in the morning, or am I being pfb?
