bleeding 5 weeks after elcs - tmi

Could anyone offer me any advice? My ds was born 5 weeks ago by elective c section. I've had a very strangepattern to my blood loss. Not like previous 3 pregnancies, which were also by c section. I keep getting sporadic bleeding. There will be nothing for a week or so when I think its finished but then all of a sudden I will start bleeding fresh blood. It happened when I was out walking yesterday. I actually thought I had be slightly incontinent of wee as it trickled out. It wad only when I got chance to go to a loo I realised it was blood. It also had clots in it. Not huge clots but quite a lot of small ones. Bleeding is continuing again today, still quite fresh coloured blood. Does anyone else have any experiences of this happening to them? I've just sent my midwife a message. Not sure if I need to seek medical advice or not. I've done the Google search and some advice suggests its normal and not to worry. Others say to seek advice as it can be a sign of infection. Thanks x

Anyone? Just spoken to community midwife office and they said it could be a period. Thought if I was breastfeeding I wouldn't have a period. It's never happened before?

Are you having any cramps, or a non-painful tugging feeling? If yes, go to your GP. I had similar blood loss (VB not elcs) and it turned out I had a small piece of retained placenta.

Thanks for replying worsestershiresauce I've not had any cramps but did feel strangely stiff the other day, my abdomen felt like just after it did after my section. Spoke to my own midwife this afternoon, she dismissed idea of it being a period suggested either an infection orpart of retained placenta. I've got to monitor it..if it is still occurring Monday they may admit me to day assessment unit.

I hope you got it checked out. I was fobbed of for months until I eventually went for a private scan to get a diagnosis.
