Interesting about the high chair PR - only today I was contemplating moving O to a booster seat instead. I think he would prefer to sit at the table with me and I bloody hate the highchair

Passmethecrisps · 05/02/2014 20:36

Sigh. Just posted and it went poof

In short I said I reckon we are a bit obsessed with dairy in the uk. If I have too much I feel ill. I don't like milk at all. People are always a bit taken aback that I don't take milk in anything g

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2014 20:49

Ooh it says that cheese is separate from most dairy digestive issues as the lactose (sugar not protein) disappears during fermentation, so easier to digest than milk or yoghurt. They also say cheese doesn't have to be pasteurised as non pasteurised cheese allows good bacteria to grow in the gut which wouldn't be introduced with pasteurised cheese. Sooo different from the UK guidelines. Will photo the article and send to anyone interested. It's in French, obviously.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2014 20:51

pass I eat cheese and butter but never ever drink milk, or milkshakes, or tea and coffe with or without milk. I hate cooking with milk but have to with pancakes and yorkshires. I can cope with creme fraiche but only cooked.

YellowWellies · 05/02/2014 21:39

But if CMPI is the issue cheese is the last dairy product to introduce as it has the highest concentration of the problematic protein which is why when docs confuse CMPI and lactose intolerance it makes me rage! Smile Blush

Sophiathestormfairy · 05/02/2014 21:39

Yep. DD1 seems ok with cheese but can not have milk.

Is a minefield.

Sophiathestormfairy · 05/02/2014 21:42

yw et al, I sympathise when it was DD1 is was nights spent on a camp bed in paediatric HDU that made them see the reality of the issue.

Passmethecrisps · 05/02/2014 21:44

The docs in hospital when p was admitted interchanged intolerance with allergy and lactose with CMP

PetiteRaleuse · 05/02/2014 21:47

As I said it doesn't mention reflux or CMPI. Just kactose intolerance.

Just thought it would be of interest anyway.

The next article was on the benefits of kissing babies, kissing them too much and too little. Also v interesting. Apparently kissing a newborn at maternity unit (here 3-8 days) appears to have an impact on latch where no tongue tie. Lots of kissing = improving latch. But at our LO's age too much or too little kissing can upset the baby as boundaries are being set - personal space etc. probably lots of anecdata, but this being my first parenting mag in allost three years, and my first French one, finding it interesting.

ValiumQueen · 05/02/2014 21:49

I have just applied for a Healthcare manager post in a Prison. I have never put so little effort into an application, and it would likely mean a move, so I don't really want it. After the day I have had I just need to feel I have options.

J has been promoted to the Toddler room. My baby is growing up Smile Although tonight he head butted me, then slapped me hard on the cheek, lunged to bite me on the nose, then laughed. Little sod.

Pass what on earth are you doing attempting forward rolls?

ValiumQueen · 05/02/2014 21:51

Yep Pass, the same medical team said J was an allergy. No such thing as intolerance. It took that to make Nursery take it seriously and that was kinda what the Doc was getting at. People think intolerance is just fussiness.

Sophiathestormfairy · 05/02/2014 22:01

Yay vq I thinks that is what you love.

Passmethecrisps · 05/02/2014 22:03

See, p keeps standing on her head. So I thought I would show her a forward roll. She applauded enthusiastically but my body is not what it used to be!

applepieinthesky · 05/02/2014 22:16

Lots of sleepless nights here too. C is teething again and I am absolutely shattered. My parents have offered to take him overnight but I don't want to be parted from him even though a decent nights sleep would be heaven.

kyz hope E is better soon, poor thing Sad

Whoever mentioned shoes - you can buy a measuring tool online. Clarks sell them on their website and so do John Lewis I think for about £8. Then you can measure yourself and order from wherever you like.

PurplePidjin · 05/02/2014 22:17

My clothes are supermarket and about 5 years old my mum and i pool points Blush

vq staff or client? Wink actually Priory are a big employer in my field round here. Might look into it eventually

I've just spammed up a load of fb groups and hopefully got some interest for tomorrow - fingers crossed please!

ChasingDaisy · 05/02/2014 22:17

I did a forward roll recently. Terrifying. I thought my back was going to break.

Have already been into O three times tonight. I usually don't hear a peep from him all night. He is coughing and sneezing and from the moans after his coughs, his throat seems to be sore too. Poor little sod.

Elizadoesdolittle · 05/02/2014 22:28

I was just thinking the other day that I kiss E loads. I don't think there can be such a thing as too many kisses for a baby can there?

Sophiathestormfairy · 05/02/2014 22:34

I keep away from fwd roles these days they make me feel a Bit sick.

O's cough is awful too. He hacks away but appears to stay asleep.

I kiss my kids all the time. I just think it will make them desperate to get away at the relevant age! (But hopefully want to come back for long boozy Sunday lunches and the papers)

Sophiathestormfairy · 05/02/2014 22:35

On own tonight and wish I had brought a hot water bottle to bed.

BigPigLittlePig · 05/02/2014 22:38

Not flooded in just yet! The hospital kindly fetches staff in 4x4s who can't get in, so even if we were, there would be no rest for the wicked.

Sophia the snot saga sounds delightful. So kind of O to share!

Pr yay to ridding yourself of the highchair!

Kyz, I hope you and yours are ok, looking forward to the epic post that will mean E is better.

Zamboni how lovely for your friend - enjoy newborn shopping! A good friend and his wife are struggling to conceive, with a few mc along the way, and it is so upsetting to see. Even more special when the wait for a baby has been so long.

Dh and I had a collective blonde moment this morning. I was on call, so usually we would take both cars to work to avoid him having to get F up at night to collect me. It was only when we were halfway in to work in the same car that he penny dropped. F has only just gone back to sleep, on me, after discovering huge excitementof a nocturnal trip.

She is full of cold and keeps stoppig breathing as there is so much snot. Gross and terrifying in equal measure.

BigPigLittlePig · 05/02/2014 22:40

F apparently wanders round nursery with open mouth, looking for her next victim. She is liberal with her kisses, and me too in return.

ChasingDaisy · 05/02/2014 22:47

Currently laying on Oscar's floor with my hand through the bars of his cot. He keeps reaching out his hand to hold mine. Very, very sweet. Although I am bloody freezing and my back is fucked. Please sleep soon kiddo.

YellowWellies · 05/02/2014 22:52

I'm liberal with the snogs too Blush my hippy parents were v tactile and affectionate and it's made me comfy with affection and warmth. Jonas sometimes pushes me away like "Muuuuum embarrassing" when he's not in a cuddly mood but normally he's a real sook and gives big cuddles back and pats my back going "awwww". He cuddles the dog and cat (often lying over them) and says "awwww" as he cuddles and pats them too - the dog loves it - the cat flattens himself into the ground and you can see him mentally retreat to his 'safe place'. Grin Poor puss.

BigPigLittlePig · 05/02/2014 22:52

You are a stronger woman than me, Chasing. F currently snoring her head off in my bed, for the exact reason that I cannot face another night of floor lying.

ChasingDaisy · 05/02/2014 22:57

This is the first time I've ever had to do this. Illness/teething etc never affects his night sleep, so I'm not sure what's wrong. We are exactly four weeks post-MMR, but I can't remember what the timescale for side effects is. I could really do with some sleep if I'm going to pass my theory test on Friday Hmm
