Hows everyone getting on?
Harriet is now 22 days and for the last 3 nights has finally spent the night in her own moses basket rather than being fine in it during the day and screaming if she was put in it at night. White noise playing seems to be the trick for her.

On the diet front, I've got about another stone left to lose. I'm awful at healthy eating so have always been slim through exercise which I cant do for another 3 weeks because of my EMCS. :( I really want my stomach not to be flabby so I'm desperate to start exercising. That and I'm a bridesmaid in may and need to fit in my size 10 dress.

Well dp and dd gone to get kfc for tea lol so I won't be losing any weight this weekend lol.

But I do need to get rid of about 2 stone pg weight I think. Was hoping it would all melt with bfing but don't think its going to be that easy. Need to get myfitnesspal up and running again as well as starting power walking the dog or something.

And stop eating crap lol. Am fine in week it's just weekend I'm rubbish.

Am really tired today though. Am having tea and going up. Hopefully seb will cooperate and let me snooze for a while.

I definitely need some willpower for the weight loss - I'm not even good in the week and just seem to have got into some very bad eating habits that I think will be difficult to shift. I will be back on myfitnesspal in earnest tomorrow!

So Hannah has been very sleepy today which makes me a little worried about the night ahead! Do you think at this age sleepiness in the day means wakefulness at night or does that come later?! Am hoping that as part of the 3wk growth spurt lots of sleeping happens because that's when they do the growing - hopeful, much?!

Argh! Fractious hungry baby here! On week 3 so growth spurt I think. Trying to (loosely) stArt GF (Gina ford to those of you who don't know!) she recommends expressing 3x a day to cope with growth spurts so routine doesn't go out the window- has anyone tried this? Joshua is inconsolable and wants to feed every 10 mins so may try this expressing routine tomorrow and see if it increases my supply.

Anyone else feel like their supply is really low in the late afternoon/eve?

I feel like I'm offering him the boob as there's nothing in it- but I guess there must be??

uuugh this weight thing is so annoying. I had lost pretty much everything after the birth, but now she's almost 3 weeks, I gained back 3 pounds because I just can't stop eating. Breastfeeding has turned me into an ogre :( I try to eat healthy foods (which are costing me a fortune as I buy almost everything organic), but the sheer quantity I'm consuming is unbelievable. I eat twice what DH eats. I also hate the flabby tummy and why is this black line in the middle of my belly not fading away??? I was told it would.

I want to start exercising, but she's still so unpredictable when she's feeding that I feel like I can't leave the house. Also she still sleeps during the day in her bassinet fine but still not as night (jealous kchap) so I'm pretty knackered because I'm not a natural napper so I have a hard time sleeping during the day.

mum what's the gina ford method supposed to do? is it to help them develop a routine? never heard of it?

Report
mumofthreeboysS · 12/01/2014 22:35

rose Gina Ford is a routine guru- her books aim to help get babies into a routine- it's worked for both my DS's - they thrived on it and were happy and great sleepers but her ideas divide people- some people swear by her methods others hate her! I'm only loosely following it till Joshua is older but with the last two I formula fed and it's more straight forward- with bf she doesn't encourage demand feeding so much, more expressing to keep supply ahead of what baby needs so when there is a growth spurt there is enough milk and so baby doesn't need to feed more frequently (well that's the theory!) tonight I fed every 15mins for 2 hours then gave up and DH gave him some formula and expressed milk but I know they say if you give formula it can damage your supply. I dunno, it's all so bloody complicated!

mumofthreeboysS · 12/01/2014 22:40

Oh and rose I've still got the flabby tummy and line down it! 3 weeks and tum still sticking out- I can't remember how long it took for it to go back last time- I still can't fit Into my jeans and living in leggings and tights (with my maternity mini skirt) I even bought a big shirt from h&m to hide my tum and for bf. My usual tops are all fitted and look awful with my stomach sticking out.

By the way anyone still bleeding? Mine slowed then this week started again - sorry if tmi but fresh and bright red. Could it be my period?? I'm trying not to do too much so don't know why it's still going if it's not my period.

Mum & Super Im 4wks 2days and still bleeding. It's settles and then flares up again! Have read on MN some women bleed 5/6 weeks and it's normal. Didn't bleed this long with DD

I have 2 stone to lose but I really am not stressing yet. Pre-pregnancy I followed a very strict protein diet (no carbs, no fat) so when I fell pregnant I went a bit crazy n ate everything in sight. I'm just gonna enjoy the next few weeks I think before I diet as once I start I will be very strict with myself!

Hope I'm the only one up at this time of morning and you and your bambinos are fast asleep! Smile

Silly baby waking for teeny feeds in the night, but waking frequently - gaaah!

Morning. I'm thinking of making a badge that says "Yes, she does have a lot of hair!" Went to brunch with work yesterday, at a celebrity chef's restaurant in the concert hall here. There were over 100 of us there, and everyone came to see Älfi. Some people even asked me to take off her hat so they could see the hair everyone was talking about. I ate my own bodyweight in desserts. I may be taking this "you can't diet while breastfeeding" mantra a little too far. But I did have to buy new jeans because my pre - pregnancy ones come down without undoing the fly. My tummy is a little bit flabby, but once the ice-rink next door has ice (hopefully this week) I'll start skating during Älfi's naps while Lola is with the childminder. Need to get fit for a 12 km (7.5 mile) race I'm thinking about doing in April. And a 5km race in May. I will only walk the 12km, and maybe jog the 5km. I did the short one last year, but was pregnant and walked it with a pregnant friend.

Gosh you lot thinking of weight loss already make me feel like a right slob! I've just been making an effort to up my fruit and veg intake since all the xmas crap food is now put of the house. Not going to actively diet until I see the GP for our 6 week check.
However, my fenugreek capsules turned up this morning and I've taken some and now I smell like herbs! Here's hoping that after. Few days I'll see some results.
mum I've only just stopped bleeding, so that's a couple of days short of five weeks. Getting some discharge every now and then which I think is normal? Not looking forward to periods starting again, it was nice not to deal with them for ages.
What's everyone thinking about for contraception? I'm a bit scared of the coil after all the horror stories here on MN and my body rejected the implant when I tried it about 6 years ago leaving me with a nasty scar.

I have the flabby belly too! Was back in jeans after a week with dd2 but Caleb now 5 weeks and although people keep saying I look skinny by belly is still big but hidden under baggy stuff and wearing my c section pants to hold it in and maternity trousers! Scar and tummy still hurts.
Been to hosp today to have breast abscess drained and I ended up with a reaction to anaesthetic i think. Nearly past out and had tremors and racing heart! Was ok twice last week having it done but different consultant today. Bit scary!
DS has dummy but the avent ones. DDs had these too. Got some others that he's not keen on.
Just had HV out and DS now 10lb 6 so gaining well.
I looked at the GF books with DD1. Think she was banned on here or conversations where at one point as so many arguments about her methods. I didn't follow her exactly but tried to adapt it to suit me. This time all routines out the window. Third baby and he is just fitting in with how it works as having to look after DDs too. Nighttime we out older girls to bed then we sort DS but he tends to settle about 10 ish and sleeps well. Hasn't had a feed in the night for the last few nights but I've been putting dummy in to settle if he wakes. He doesn't cry at night just gurgles a bit.

Glad it's not just me bleeding still- actually it's got less again for now anyway.

God, is there a contraption that can fix baby to boob and give you hands free?? Joshua wants to feed at dinner time each day- I managed to get the kids dinner on the table-just then spent the whole time feeding him.

Re contraception I'm a bit nervous of the coil tho I'm sure plenty of women don't have problems with them, I have also heard of stories of them dislodging or moving and causing problems. I have had the injection before but wouldn't recommend it- I put on weight and got a bit depressed on it so not that impressed. It's annoying that so many forms of contraception have side effects. DH is keen to get the snip so that might be our best option!!

Anyone else still got baby jaundice? Caeden is 4 weeks old now and even though he is feeding well has still got a bit of jaundice, hv has advised going to gp as it should have cleared up by now but said they may not do anything anyway, just wondering if anyone has had the same? I'm combination feeding but he has probably 80% from the breast.

mumofthreeboysS · 14/01/2014 04:35

alyssa my DH is more than keen to get it done if it means there's no chance of any more kids!!

mrs have you tried putting him by the window or going for a walk when it's sunny- the sunlight will help to get rid of the jaundice.

Morning all

Had a fab nights sleep. Seb went down at 9 and went every 3 hours bang on. About 7 minutes on each boob and a few minutes winding and back in his crib. Fabulous.

I am still bleeding too but almost stopped now at 4 and a half weeks and I was elcs. I bled for a week then stopped for a week then started again. Is a pain.

I had seb weighed too yesterday. He is up from 7lb 8oz on 2/01 to 8lb 4oz! Am really pleased with that as we ebf so you do worry.

Am going to attempt town today on the bus. Sigh. Can't wait to be able to drive again. And am hoping that he doesn't need feeding while we are out aa I can't think of a single place we could bf with a bit of privacy. How crap is that?

Report
lisbapalea · 14/01/2014 07:36

frouby I had my elcs on 17th Dec and am already "allowed" to drive so it may be worth checking with your health visitor? Mine was happy with my recovery and just asked that I saw a GP to give an official green light, which they did with no problem. I waited until Saturday which was 3wks and 5days after before I drove for the first time. I live in a very rural area and was desperate for some independence as the buses here are ridiculously sporadic! Just thought I'd mention in case it gives you a lifeline!

Hannah also did well last night 3hrs on the nose, and settling back into the Moses basket brilliantly after about 20mins to have a bottle plus 20mins of winding /being kept upright to stop any vom.

I know that's a good night but my god I can't wait for some stretches longer than 3hrs at night!!

Ok so I never bf past the newborn stage last time. Joshua has started trying to look round whilst feeding, twisting my nipple in the process-ow! Im guessing it's only going to get worse the older and more alert he gets?

Report
mumofthreeboysS · 14/01/2014 08:26

7 minutes on each boob frouby, wow! How old is he? Joshua takes about 20-30 mins on each side and last night another half hour to settle. However I only had to feed him once as DH did the late feed so can't complain really. But he is really slow. I know he'll get quicker- just looking fwd to getting some of my day back when he feeds faster...

Mum he is 4 and a half weeks. I really have noticed a difference since the weekend. And at night I am very business like lol. I feed him at the side of the bed rather than bringibg him in with us. No lights or tv and I don't change him unless he has poo. If he drifts off I jiggle my boob in his mouth to wake him up. Once I think he is full from 1 side I wind him and swap over.

I then put him in his crib at the side of the bed and rock him until he asleep again.

But I am feeding him a lot in the day so don't be too jealous. Works for me but my dd is 9 so at school and no little ones at home.

I have found bfing a lot harder and a lot easier than I thought. And it gets easier every day that passes. Was tough last week. Think cit was a growth spurt but so far this week we are doing ok.

Lis my car needs to be mended before I can drive otherwise I would have been to see doc by now. Bus stop isn't far and quite a good service so not too bad.
