Hello Jenwa. Must have been tough having a c section and looking after 3 kids? I'm struggling and I had an easy delivery!

frouby that's hardcore feeding! Joshua is feeding for so long his feeds almost merge together! Anyone else still suffering with sore nips? I've just stopes using a nipple shield on one side and now the left is sore. I know it's bad latching tho so just need to keep trying to get it right I guess...

Welcome Jenwa

Tough couple of days here, ds has been very colicky. About to try dr brown bottle so hope this evening is better.

Mum, how is cocoonababy going? I think ours has helped but he would still much rather sleep on us so it's an ongoing battle..

MrsShrubs - I'm expressing for 15 mins each boob to get the 125ml although it does fluctuate between 80-125. I'm only pumping between 4 and 5 times per day but really need to do more as had to top up with formula.

Violet bean - was talking to another mum today who also recommended the Medela slow flow bottles so will defo look into those.

I finally caved this afternoon and fave him his first Closer to Nature bottle and he was so peaceful and I was so happy I cried (happy tears!).

Am tempted to try nipple shields after what lots of people have said. Why are all the professionals against these things if they work?? Confused

Thanks for welcoming me Smile

Been a tough recovery this time. Had 3rd degree tear with DD1 and I recovered so much quicker than this section! Ended up with infection and wound oozing and now having treatment for breast abscess that drs said was mastitis when I knew it wasn't. Been twice to hosp to have drained and back mon and poss weds in the hope it clears. Been a nightmare and I want to be well again!! Getting there slowly.
I am BF and did it with DDs although mixed with formula with them too but I think you have to so whatever makes you and baby happy. Don't ever best yourself up about not BF if it doesn't work. Formula has every thing in it baby needs too. I won't BF for long as DS doesn't latch well at all. Just going to get past this abscess thing and see how I go. He feeds a lot in the day but usually wakes once in the night around 4 or sometimes goes to 6. Think he stocks up in the day. They say as long as they feed about 8 times in 24 hrs and having wet and dirty nappies then not to worry or stress too much.
I know people who have used nipple shields. If they work and make you more comfortable the go for it!

Frouby I have the caboo dx and it is great, once you've got it set up you just clip it on, drop baby in and get going, sends Genevieve off to sleep most times as she is so snuggly. Hope you get on with it too.

Alyssa thats great! Has anyone else started dieting??

I have added an app to my phone and its set me a goal to get my weight down to 9st. I am aiming to loose a pound a week just by eating less calories. Have been on it since last friday and already lost 2lb!

Im not very good at the diet thing as such a fussy eater but cutting my calories is great i love this app even got my mum on it!!

Snoz, my DS uses nipples shields and he's addicted. I cannot get him to latch no matter what i try! I've read lots on MumsNet though about them being used for short periods with no issues. Xx

Welcome jenwa sorry you're having a rough time of it. Hope things pick up soon

We had to get the dummy out last night/this morning.
I wanted to avoid it but ah well. DD woke up at 4 for a feed she normally does 3 ounces but between 4-7 she don't 4&half! She's only 9 days old so don't know where she put it lol & she still wouldn't settle but would drift off sucking on my finger so I guess that's comfort sucking?? Anyway I was so tired & so tried the dummy after a couple goes of her spitting it out she was fine & slept for 3 hours.

Hope everyone is well I don't come on much anymore. But I'm still lurking lol xx

Does anyone else have a formula fed cluster feeder?! Hannah is pretty much an every 3hr girl and settles well after most feeds, but between about 4pm and 10pm I never have a clue how much or when she will feed, or what she will do between feeds!

She's pretty chilled but given the faff of sterilising and prepping formula etc, I'm looking forward to knowing what I'm doing a bit more in that cluster feeding period sometime soon as I am always panicking that we won't have enough clean bottles or boiled water at the right time!

We gave Hannah her 2nd ever bath (in 3.5 weeks! Am telling myself her skin will be better for minimal washing!) tonight and it was much more successful than the first one so I am going to try and fit a bath in most nights before 7pm to try and start a bedtime of sorts. Shame that about an hr after tonight's bath she puked a load of her feed up when in her carrycot and ended up with vomit on her newly cleaned hair!

I am going to pluck up the courage to weigh myself on Monday morning - think I am going to need to lose at least 2st. Urgh!

hot the Cocoonababy has definitely helped him settle more but he does have his restless time from 6-10pm when only someone's arms will do! He has been sleeping great at night in it and looks so snug and comfy so I'm glad I got it. Also ds1 had a bad case of flathead so I'm hoping this'll stop Joshua getting it.

Can Any of you pro expressers help me? I'm a novice- basically only done it a few times but last night around 9pm I managed to get a total of 100ml, tonight only 60ml. Should I be worried or does the amount fluctuate from day to day? I want to express once or twice a day so DH can feed him at the 10ishpm feed but we have to do half breasilk half formula at the moment. Would I be better off expressing in the morning as apparently supply is higher then?

I know he's going through a growth spurt and I'm worried that if I don't feed him more frequently my supply may not keep up with him but we're loosely following a routine and I just don't think I could fit another feed in- as it is I feel like I'm feeding constantly!...

mum I find my supply fluctuates especially if I've not drunk enough. I'm not getting enough to give her ebm every feed even though I express each time she feeds as she is a real gannet! But I find I do get more between midnight and 5 than any other time of day, I also get more the better my mood is. If I'm close to the baby and having a good brain day I'll get up to 10ml more per session. I'm hoping to boost my supply by taking fenugreek, getting some delivered on Monday, so will report on if/how it's working by the end of the week.

Have a wide awake baby on my hands! Not crying, perfectly happy but not remotely sleepy! She woke for a feed at 12.50 and guzzled 120ml, but then did an enormous poo which seems to have energised her so she's not at all sleepy!

Hope you got her back off to sleep lis Genevieve has just woken up to have breakfast. She managed 11 til 2 in her crib then wouldn't settle again so slept in bed with us, but that's a huge improvement so I'm hopeful we can build on that slowly over the coming weeks.

alyssa welldone for joining! did you take little one with you to slimming world? My nearest ones at 10am so would need to take James with me but not sure whether they would mind me showing up with him.

Welcome jenwa

lisa James does this some nights, last night he had 250mls worth in just over an hour then sometimes he will only drink 90ml and go 3 hours, we're just doing it on demand so are setting up quite a few bottles at a time and then sterilising as soon as they're done, we have bought quite a few bottles though so we've always got spares

mogsz I didn't realise so much could affect milk supply- yeah I could probably drink more water instead of the endless cups of tea!! Let me know if the fenugreek works. I'm a bit selfish- Joshua only wakes once to feed at night so I'm not up expressing but I do notice how full I am as he's kit feeding frequently at night. Maybe I can express in the mornings but at the mo he's feeding so long there's not much gap between feeds till after the 10am feed (which can take over an hour) I'm not too worried if he has some formula once a day tho- it seems to satisfy him and a but of mixed feeding suits me (and saves my sanity!)

mrs I left Lleyton with my mum, my meeting was 7pm which is when he usually gets his first night formula feed.
My dp joined with me too and at first she thought he was just there for moral support, so if you're allowed to do that then I can't imagine they'd have a problem with you taking the baby.
Are you bf? If so tell them as I think you get a slightly different diet. I'm sure it was on the form you fill in when you join.

I made us healthy spaghetti Bol last night and it was lovely and completely free food with no sun value. Tonight I'm making steak and slimming world chips which are both also free....living this diet lol
