WL that's hilarious!!

utopian99 · 14/01/2014 05:50

Ha, very sweet (and monkeyish) WL!

Thanks for the comments re bf, if we weren't ttc dc2 I think I'd have left it a bit longer, but he seems v happy and didn't protest. We're having lots of cuddles to make up for it instead. Smile

On the other hand, does anyone have tips (not involving cc) to get O to stop waking at 5.30am? He is quite often sleeping from 8-5.30 these days but then it takes an hour to get him back down and it's really frustrating.

WLmum · 14/01/2014 07:25

utopian T is the same but if she wakes before 6 I always endeavour to get her back to sleep - usually a quick cuddle will do it but I suspect that's because I did quick cuddle and back down during sleep training. She will usually sleep for another hour then. I do treat it like a night wake - quick cuddle, no chat, back in cot and I go out. Repeat if necessary! I can't leave her to cry at all at that time as it would wake dd1&2. Perseverance?

utopian99 · 14/01/2014 08:40

Think that's the only way. We definitely treat it like a night wake, so hopefully he'll get there soon.. he's currently having a wild time unwinding an entire roll of sellotape. Hmm

halestone · 14/01/2014 17:00

WL did your mum panic?

Utopian i'd just treat it like a night wake as well.

2blessed i hope DS is ok.Thanks

Mama, i'm glad C enjoyed her 1st day at nursery.

Spotty yay to booking the wedding and i am Envy of your honeymoon in New York. Maryland i'm also Envy of you getting married over there.

I am in a awful mood, i haven't seen or spoke to DP since sunday. H keeps biting my niece and shes sleeping crap, and then shes whingy in the day as well.

What has happened withDP Hales??

DS has come out in a horrible rash. Panicked cos he's not had MMR yet but Drs said just viral rash..

Maryland2013 · 14/01/2014 19:01

Spotty for a special honeymoon meal you should try to eat at the a River Cafe. It's under Brooklyn Bridge and has views of Manhattan across the river. Food is amazing. We ate there after our wedding and have been back for anniversaries. It's a picture perfect place :)

SpottyTeacakes · 14/01/2014 19:43

Hales hope you're ok?

Maryland once I've booked the flights I will pm you and you can help me with my itinerary Wink

Maryland2013 · 14/01/2014 19:55

Oh I'd love to help you Spotty, I love NYC! The best places we have stayed have been Greenwich village and the upper west side. Lots of people like to stay near Times Square cos they think it's better to be central (which is fine) but it's much more fun to stay in a neighbourhood as opposed to the touristy places - you get ripped off in the local bars- restaurants. Also as long as you're near a subway station you're only 10 mins from Central Park to the bottom of manhattan :)

WLmum · 14/01/2014 20:39

At 6.30 I gave DH the choice of bathing the dds or rehanging the bedroom curtains - he chose the latter obviously thinking it the easier of the two. Poor chap is still at it!!
I'll be watching the NYC with interest - we went there millions of years ago ( pre dds) in the summer and would love to go back in the winter.
hales I hope all is ok. My mum was very shocked and I think a bit scared to tell me!

halestone · 14/01/2014 20:52

DP went out on saturday with his friends as you know we don't live together even though his bastard ex told CTC that we do Anyway after his night out he went home had a sleep i didn't text or ring him so he could have a decent sleep. When he arrived at mine at 1pm i told him i'd been called into work and had to go in at 5. He proceeded to sulk all day and tell me how knackered he was, despite knowing how terrible H's sleep has been and the fact he got to sleep alone on friday and saturday night and wake up naturally. Anyway he whinged and whined all day then it continued by text, so i told him a few home truths about how lucky he was and if he thought i was the type of girl who would put up with that shit he could do one.

Anyway he showed up half an hour after i posted before, we've had a talk and we're ok now.

H is being a nightmare and i am really struggling with her constant whinging/screaming/biting.

FriendofDorothy · 14/01/2014 20:54

I didn't realise you didn't live together halestone. How come?

Maryland2013 · 14/01/2014 21:19

Jeez what I would give for 1 uninterrupted nights sleep never mind 2 ;)
We have a work conference in March and everyone else is excited about a free bar but I can't wait for a bath and a big sleep in a hotel bed!!!

Glad you have sorted things out Hales. Babies definitely add a lot of pressure to our relationships, especially if we feel like the child care isn't balanced and unfair..
Witch exes also cause a lot of problrms- trust me I know..you almost have to rise above their bitchy nasty behaviour as you will never change them. Even when you think you might be friends it can still all go horribly wrong.

halestone · 14/01/2014 21:37

I care for my dad FoD and i don't think its fair to ask DP to move in. Also i got pregnant really quick after we met we met on the 3rd of feb i got my positive pregnancy test result on 22nd March so i'm really scared of something going wrong between us.

Maryland i definitely feel like i do the majority of looking after H and he just doesn't seem to get it.

WLmum · 14/01/2014 21:56

Sorry you're finding things tough at the moment hales. The only thing I can think of is to bite the bullet and get her sleep sorted. That should sort her whinging and maybe the biting too if she's just all overtired and ratty. Even if it doesn't, after a few days of pain, it will def make you feel better. T has been sleeping through now for about 2 weeks (after a bit if training) and I'm like a new woman. It's done wonders for my relationship with DH too. I really hope you feel better soon. Hugs, wine, chocs and flowers!

halestone · 14/01/2014 23:05

I think thats the best idea as well WL. Just need someone to look after H long enough so i can lower the cot.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 14/01/2014 23:25

Oh Hales, what an arse. I get the hump when DP tries to tell me he's tired when he's slept in the next room never mind another house. Glad you sorted it though.

I've just been asked to go away with work too Maryland think DP's in for a shock when he has to sort pick up and drop off like I do!

Congrats on booking the wedding and honeymoon Spotty. I did a flying visit to NYC a few years ago with my sister.

Tomorrow's my day off, yippee. Not sure what we'll do but we shall have a fun day Smile

ddas · 15/01/2014 08:58

hales glad you got it sorted- think it's difficult to get a true idea of how hard it can be with a baby (although I guess they're now toddlers :( ) unless you have it everyday as think it's the constant with no break/no uninterrupted sleep aspect that makes it difficult. Think that's why men never quite get it as most of the time from the begginning they go back to work whilst for you everything changes. Even on days when work is horrifically busy it's still a break!!

spotty New York sounds lovely. We went years ago and l

spotty New York sounds lovely. We went years ago and loved it. That was in the summer but think it would be really magical in the winter.

utopian well done for getting this far. How are you feeling- hope not too uncomfortable. As you've probably guessed from previous posts I keep thinking about stopping then wimping out. We're only on 1 or so feed and feel both dd & myself are ready to stop but I'm too scared- last baby syndrome clearly.

ivanapoo · 15/01/2014 11:13

Hi, is there room for one more (very late) joiner? I was in some of the antenatal threads before life took over and I stopped MNing as much for a bit.

My DS was 1 in December and is currently with his nanny... It feels very strange! A lot of my mum friends with babies the same age have gone back to work on different days to me so I feel I've got to start again with the whole socialising thing.

DS isn't showing any signs of walking any time soon - I have to say part of me is quite relieved as it seems to be a whole new level of crazy!

I'm still BFing but keep thinking about stopping then changing my mind. I love the closeness but I'm kind of over it when he bites me. I also hate talking about it as some people look at me as if I'm insane/disgusting to feed him still at this age.

Barbeasty · 15/01/2014 11:14

I'm not allowed to give up- I get thumped on the chest (by A!) and if I'm not quick enough he starts fiddling with my clothes and trying to gain access himself.

Hales it is hard, and I bet there was a bit of regret there that he'd wasted a child free night drinking rather than sleeping and suddenly had to have sole charge rather than just supporting you iyswim.

The official medical advice is not to use tcp to swill your mouth "you might as well swill bleach". DH is nearly recovered, but cross that if he'd ignored the colleagues who suggested it he'd be better now and not on a diet of ice cream and soup!!

Quote of the day from DD: "Daddy, is it Easter soon? Because I've nearly run out of chocolate! "

ddas · 15/01/2014 12:49

barbeasty I've clearly missed something- why did your dh decide to gargle with tcp?
One thing I've learnt is male friends (unless they are medical of course! And even then they are prone to saying silly things lol) normally give the worst advice! They are also the most likely to do things to each other that they 'think are funny' not really thinking it through and regretting it later. I may have on one occasion when a patients friends did something very very stupid to him as a joke that ended him in hospital tell him he maybe should think of getting different friends Blush.
However my DH is just as bad!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/01/2014 12:59

Welcome back ivana Smile

Ds loves his bounce and spin zebra! Best £10 I've spent I think!

ddas · 15/01/2014 13:14

I'm on annual leave today whilst both dc are at nursery- specifically planned so I could get some work done but finding it very hard to concentrate on work. So rare to be at home and not looking after the kids that all I want to do is relax, sit on the sofa with a cup of tea and watch rubbish tv. That's really bad- back to trying to get some work done! I clearly would be useless at working from home.

Barbeasty · 15/01/2014 13:55

ddas he bit his tongue and it got infected and sore. But it was only after he started with the tcp he realised it wasn't just bad ulcers (which he's prone to).
In fairness I think tcp does say it's suitable for that, it just turns out to have been an awful idea. Not something he'll repeat!

His colleagues feel very bad though (he's been off sick so far this week) and he's planning on winding them up all week.

Today's dragging.
