..and am beginning to worry. Sat at 6 months, crawled at 10 (and is very good at it), began cruising at 14. Began taking a few independent steps a month ago but still seems to lack the confidence to walk without holding mummy's hand. Is he the only one?

Hi vtired, my best friend has two boys, the first started walking at 16 months but did not walk without holding hands til 18+ and the second started walking at 15 months-holding both hands and is now 17 months and is only just beginning to walk on his own now. So you definately not the only one, it just takes time for them to realise they can do it on their own and the fact that he is walking holding hands shows he is progressing just fine.

Nothing to worry about.
DD1 sat down if I wasn't holding her hand until 17 months. She never fell over once she started though, just went straight to proper walking.

no worries- my DS walked with hand-holding for nearly 3 months before he took off on his own.

Thanks for the reassurance!

He is quite heavy (as well as tall) and therefore always suspected he would take a bit longer to walk but was starting to worry as all other babies from post natal group happily running around now.

I's always hard not to compare your lo to other kiddies the same age, but try to remember that you didn't learn things at school etc the same way or at the same rate as other people and our lo's are the same! - glad you feel reassured

My friends ds was born 01/05 and he took his first steps last weekend

They are all different, make the most of not having to chase him round

Hey V Tired. Glad to hear you are reassured. Just to mention on my 'other' board, we did a poll and there are about 6 non walking Feb 05 babies still out of about 30-35

He's walking!

Began all of a sudden Tues eve. I offered him a biscuit and he just waddled toward me. He hasn't stopped since and just wears this big grin constantly to show how proud he is of himself!

Know am soppy so and so but can't believe my little helpless baba is now up and about on his own two feet! Is amazing!

Dreanteangirl - must check out other thread about Feb-05 babies - thx
