Oh bump you must have got the fright of your life when you fell! That's one of my fears. I'm terrible at leaving shoes in the living room, kicked off when I sit on the settee but I've really had to start behaving myself for fear of tripping over them. Hope you haven't done any mega damage. Good excuse to put your feet up if possible but it sounds like you have quite a lot on xxxxx

Dh is going back to work on Wednesday which is making me a bit nervous. What do you guys do about having a shower? Should I get one before he leaves for work or is it ok to leave Leo in the bedroom on his own (and probably crying?)

LuckySocks13 · 16/12/2013 08:10

Morning all. I posted in the night but it hasn't saved! Grr!

Oh bump! How scary indeed. Glad bubba is ok which is the main thing and hope you feel more comfortable soon.
Janie I've left Charlotte to have a shower or to attend to DS. I'd never get anything done if not. DH leaves by 6.30am and often not back until 9.00pm. I just shower super quick!
DS had finished nursery for a few weeks which takes the pressure off in the mornings now! It's hard being awake all night then DS up at the crack if dawn. Charlotte is chrreny asleep and I'm watching little mermaid with DS and trying to keep my eyes open as when I closed them for a few seconds he peeled them back open.
Is Leo still sleeping 5 hours Janie? I'm lucky if Charlotte goes 2 1/2!

LuckySocks13 · 16/12/2013 08:11

Anyone here with knowledge if little girl babies? Charlotte has a white discharge and I was told at the hospital when born it was normal but it's still there and looks gunky? Will ask the health visitor on Thursday but I'd be interested to hear from anyone else

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 16/12/2013 10:31

Thanks lucky, hopefully he'll be ok in his basket for 5 minutes! Eek!

And Leo slept for 5.5hrs last night! Again I'd set my alarm to wake him up in case he didn't waken himself! Having said that, he had fed for 6 hours non stop before he fell asleep . I always let him go into a deep sleep in my arms before transferring him to his basket so he doesn't stir (best tip I ever got) but sometimes that takes about45 minutes!

I've had to leave him with dh this morning to come back to the dentist as the temporary filling I got the day before labour day has come out! It's so strange being away from him :( I miss the little monkey

IBelieveInPink · 16/12/2013 15:57

Eek bump that's also my biggest fear! Hope your ankle feeling better.

Janie- I wait till she asleep then leave her in her cot while I shower (quickly!). Otherwise I wouldn't get a shower!

Lucky - sounds normal. We also have a little of that, I thought it was cream as I am using so much on her napoy rash, but could be discharge. Baby centre says normal for 6 weeks.

How's everyone's nappy rash? I just got that other cream (metanium) so been using it for 24 hours. When should we start to see an improvement?

BumpKitty · 16/12/2013 16:00

Ha janie did you keep feeling like you had forgotten something! When you were out without him? :) for the shower, probably more for when he is bigger but you could get a baby doughnut which is just a big ring which you put on the floor so the baby is safe, when they are bigger but not sitting up it props them up a bit but I'm sure I've seen babies lying on their backs in them. I'm not describing it very well Confused

lucky yes both of my girls have had the white discharge post birth, it is normal. I think it's just the vagina cleaning out and can last a while. It's pretty hard to wash off but won't do them any harm. I can sympathise about your DS making sure you're awake, DD1 likes to ensure I never doze off during the twenty millionth viewing of tinker bell Grin

My ankle is a bit better today, I can drive with it so that's good but the limping about is a bit tedious :)

BumpKitty · 16/12/2013 16:04

ibip I should think you'd see an improvement quite quickly, maybe 24 hours. It might be thrush if it's really nasty and not getting better x

IBelieveInPink · 16/12/2013 17:33

Thanks bump. I'm going to take her to the docs tomorrow. She just did a poop when her nappy was off, and it was very watery. Not an expert on newborn poops but sure that isn't right. I can't keep her in a clean nappy as she goes all the time, which isn't helping her bum. So as much as everyone (DH)is telling me I'm being paranoid and is just newborns, I can't just leave her like this.

Ooh sorry bit of a rant. Just wish id seen that poop earlier so I could have got her into the docs today :(

LuckySocks13 · 16/12/2013 18:12

Pink - Charlotte has about 12 runny poo nappies in 24 hours. DS also had runny poo as a breastfed baby. Charlottes party trick is projectile popping across the room! I'm so proud!!!! Also has a very sore botty. Need to get that cream!

LuckySocks13 · 16/12/2013 18:13

ThNks for the discharge advice bump that's reassuring

IBelieveInPink · 16/12/2013 18:25

Lucky - thank you. That has made me feel better to know we are not the only ones! I'd still like her checked, more to reassure myself than anything. I might be being a little paranoid first timer, but just don't want to miss anything and hurt her!
Wow the worrying doesn't stop now they here does it!!

OP posts:
LuckySocks13 · 16/12/2013 18:31

It's always good to chat to a health professional to put your mind at rest. I think we will worry about our children for the rest of out lives! I was very paranoid with my first. I'm a little more chilled this time as some stuff I've seen and done before!

IBelieveInPink · 16/12/2013 18:47

That's exactly it. I just need my mind at rest, I can't enjoy Christmas worrying about this. Oh to be a little more chilled out!
I haven't even managed to get a Christmas tree up. Useless! Although we are going to the parents for Christmas so I guess doesn't really matter.
Has everyone else managed to get organised?

OP posts:
JanieLovesLuckySocks · 16/12/2013 20:53

bump yes! it was so strange being out without my little magnet guy. i notced my car tyre was nearly flat but even then i still drove straight home to see him (he had slept the whole time!) and then sent dh out to fix the tyre at the petrol station!

pink - leos poos are always runny, ff babies have harder poos. but for any reassurance definitely get thee to the doc :)

thanks for the showering advice. i had visions of me setting up the moses basket in our teeny bathroom!

i haven't got dh a thing for xmas...would like to get something vaguely special but have no brains o can't think what. anyone have any ideas??

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 16/12/2013 23:02

Oh nod the metanium has Mede his bum go from red raw to a dark pink but much better

We took him to see Santa today. I was more excited than Leo for some reason!

LuckySocks13 · 16/12/2013 23:03

Janie I'm hoping to do some hand prints for DH of charlottes and if I get chance go to the local pottery ace and do one on a mug. Will see how organised I get for that though! Pink I was sorted for Christmas before the baby arrived. Needed to be or DS wouldn't have any presents as DH is hopeless!

LuckySocks13 · 16/12/2013 23:04

Ahh how lovely seeing Santa :) we are booked for Christmas Eve. I really need to go out and get some cream. Getting out the house and to a shop is such a mission!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 17/12/2013 03:18

Wiiiiide awaaaaaake. Well Leo is but I'm fading at a rate of knots. There was me thinking I had the angel child that slept all night. Feck.

Any good websites I can browse?

GardenWorm · 17/12/2013 04:02

Ha ha! Soz don't mean to sound evil laughing at your expense it was at the website bit Grin. Been up for 2 hrs now and am about to attempt a DS safe deposit and mega snooze....or am I just delirious?

Oh and the Savoy cabbage leaves appear to work for future reference! They are the boob saviour Grin

Choc has hit her due date on the PG thread, fingers crossed we get a new recruit v soon. Eeek!

Anyone else missing PG? I'll never convince DP to have another. Sob.

Think I've officially gone nuts now ;0)

IBelieveInPink · 17/12/2013 04:10

Garden - yes in a way. Missing the kicks. And the low maintenance baby!! Babies on the outside are far more work!!! ;) but no I think it is a little too soon for me! One day maybe.

Janie- funny website for your next marathon feed - google 'Louis vs Rick'. Is hysterical and should keep you going for half hour :)

OP posts:
LuckySocks13 · 17/12/2013 05:44

Hoorah for cabbage :D
I mostly loved being Pg apart from the anxiety so yes I do miss it as I know we won't be having anymore.
I was thinking if you earlier Janie and your 5 hours sleep and me very jealous with pushing 2 if I'm lucky! Thought you had a super baby!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 17/12/2013 10:33

Wel he finally went down at about 4.30am ffs. Didn't help that during mammoth feed he needed a change of clothes 3 times..once his willy was pointing up instead of down in his nappy..cue pee on baby gro. Once was explodapoo with very runny mustard leaking onto baby gro. Last one was my fault. Lid on my water bottle not on right waaaaaaaa just what I needed! Then during the explodapoo incident, dh came in to see what was go no on, Leo was screaming at a pitch only recognisable by banshees, I ask dh could he perhaps comfort Leo / get dummy or shhhh in his ear so he tells me just to 'get on with it'. Oh really dh is that right? Cue mega argument, me trying to stay calm as I'm trying to clean and dress what seems like an octopus having an fit and he just fucks off back to the spare room without saying anything. Nice. Needless to say that was me in hysterics, busting for a piss so had to hold Leo while I pee (which is quite tough).

Meant to be meeting some of the breastfeeding group girls at 12 and haven't even managed a wee yet this morning :( :( :(

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 17/12/2013 11:05

And to top it off I've just taken Leo downstairs to ask dh to look after him and do his nappy while I jump in the shower and he's not here. Gone in his car. Wtf. I could cry if I had the energy :(

BumpKitty · 17/12/2013 13:25

oh janie what an arse, Ii hope he has returned. I was up till 3am whilst my DH snored on the sofa and this morning he just says oh why didn't you get me Hmm
We also just had a big row as I'm sat eating my lunch and he comes in asking me to measure him for bike clothes and I said just order two sizes and send the one that doesn't fit back - but apparently he is ordering £400 worth of clothes and doesn't want it to be £800 WTF!! So I ask when exactly is he planning on going on all these bike rides leaving me to look after two kids, so this means I don't care about his health and want him to die from a heart attack, slightly dramatic! - now he has stormed off - perfect.

Just had two fillings replaced and Matilda decided she wanted to watch so I had to have her sitting on my belly so she wouldn't cry, I'm not sure the dentist was too impressed.

garden i really miss being pg, funny isn't it :)

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 17/12/2013 23:46

Garden I do miss being pregnant, I knew I would as I loved being pg (maybe because it was a pretty trouble free pregnancy). And I could get away with having a big belly.

Glad the cabbage leaves are doing their thing. I had the health visitor out this afternoon and she was talking about mastitis. She said if you get the flu like symptoms then you need to call the gp and get an antibiotic to nuke it. If it's mild then hot flannels and cabbage leaves should sort it before it properly kicks in.

Thanks for the website pink. I'll save it for in an hour or two :)

Bump are you actually me? I had to get a temp filling yesterday! DH had a go at me before because I was a bit pissed off that he was going to play football one Sunday - did I not care about his fitness?! Fuck.

DH and I still aren't on good terms after last night / this morning. He asked me why I wasn't talking to him and I made it very clear why. He said last night I was being demanding and talking to him in a nasty tone. Hmmm. He suggested that I need to sleep more. Nice one. I'll do that then because it's really easy to do that. He's back to work tomorrow.
