Thank you for the compliments everyone :) The staff saw me in my furry scarf and insisted we do a picture with the sunglasses. It did cheer me up though. At times this week I wondered if the Bell's Palsy would go on to complete paralysis of the right side of my face as it did the first time and whether that would be the last picture of me smiling for a while/ever. The meds are definitely doing their work even though they do upset my stomach at the high dosage needed for this.

So sorry to hear about the social deserts of France and Spain. It must be rather awful to be without one's friends. Most of my family is pretty worthless for support so friends have been my rock.

And Finn is doing well. He may be a little jumpier than before but that's all.

EustaciaVye · 17/11/2013 20:18

sorry have bee awol.

kitten fleas are now gone. and she is lovely.

sorry to hear about all the loneliness and anxiety Sad

jabber - hope the bells palsy iz short lived. stress will be a huge factor. go easy on yourself.

jabberwocky · 19/11/2013 00:15

helllooooo

ds1 has decided that I am to blame for the whole situation between me and h. Logically, I know that this is a normal phase and we will get through it eventually...somehow. But emotionally it's almost unbearable to hear him say he would rather stay with h full-time because h lives in our home and I am the one who left.

Indith · 19/11/2013 06:32

Oh jabber Sad

as you say, you know it is a normal phase. hold on to that. This too shall pass as everyone adjusts and settles.

castlesintheair · 19/11/2013 09:46

I remember when my parents split up and I was terrified to say anything that would displease them because I was f**king terrified of them and lived in a state of constant fear and repression. I spent my time flailing about trying to please everyone, getting the blame for everything and ultimately being totally miserable. The fact that your DS can say exactly what is on his mind Jabber speaks volumes to me about what a great mum you are.

jabberwocky · 19/11/2013 10:06

castles, you are right. I would much rather have him express his feelings rather than hold them in. I finally managed to find a therapist that I like and who will work with our schedule. H was very much against it but the boys started working with her yesterday. I think it was just in the nick of time. The anger from ds1 seemed to be rolling off of him in waves just sitting in the waiting room and I felt more than a little helpless.
As a compromise ds1 went for dinner and the night afterwards with h and ds2 came home with me. We had a lovely evening just the two of us and have been snuggled together in bed until just now. It is 4:00 am here and I am not sure if I am up for the day or just for a while.

EustaciaVye · 19/11/2013 21:05

Sad Jabber. Stay strong. He doesnt mean it, he just wants everything to stay the same. A happy mum is the best thing you will ever give your children x

accessorizequeen · 20/11/2013 14:02

I'm sorry Jabber. I imagine my ds1 would react the same way should dp & I split. He's just wanting stability, but it must hurt. Stay strong, he will be happier in the end and so will you.

Indith · 22/11/2013 13:08

How are you doing Jabber?

My pfb is going on his first Beaver sleepover tonight! I am of course panicking.

accessorizequeen · 22/11/2013 22:34

Ooh, he'll have a ball Indith! Ds2 went in Sept and loved it, but I was a little anxious I must confess.

bebespain · 23/11/2013 09:03

Just to echo what´s already been said, stay strong jabber Thanks You are doing the right thing for your boys and for yourself and as EV quite rightly says a happy Mum is the best Mum

Hope you enjoyed your Birthday aq Cake Wine Oh and well done on the costumes, I take my woolly hat off to you (it´s gone really cold here at last - hooray!)

It´s my turn next Thursday and I have to say that turning forty is a killer for me. I realise it´s been bothering me for quite a while now, especially as I feel I have "wasted" the last 7 years living in this social desert (thanks jabber, you sum Spain up so well)....thinking that I will be 50 when Agatha is 11 is not a good thought, let´s hope I age well Grin

Indith I bet your pfb will have a great time....they did a sleep over at the school a couple of years ago...seemed a bit of a random thing at the time as it was for seemingly no particular reason and they haven´t done it since Hmm Needless to say pfb loved it!

bebespain · 23/11/2013 09:14

Just remembered...jabber if I remember rightly it´s your DS that turns 7 first (?) so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I hope you got the cake sorted....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Amapoleon´s DS for the 24th

EustaciaVye · 24/11/2013 19:30

To cover all bases, Happy Birthday to anyone with birthdays in the next month or two Grin

I am feeling rubbish since I had a flu jab a week and a half ago. Confused

And here is a Wine for anyone who needs it.

How is xmas prep going? I am feeling quite organised but have DD's party to sort before I can relax.

Indith · 24/11/2013 20:00

Lalalalalalalalalalallalala!

All mention of turning 7 is banned.

Make mine a gin.

And don't talk about Christmas.

Actually I think the dcs are sorted pretty much. Just need to get it all out one night an take stock. Then think about family. Plan dd's party etc.

So far we have FIL and his dp coming up 22nd-23rd for dd's birthday. MIL and her dh coming on 24th-25th and my mum and dad coming 25th to have dinner with MIL etc and leaving on 26th. Hot beds! BIL wants to come on 27th. I know we need to see him and his DW at some point but it makes me want to cry. So little time off before I jump back into placement I don't want a constant parade of people.

But of course I feel mean saying that, they will have presents they want to give the kids blah blah blah.

jabberwocky · 26/11/2013 03:12

Thanks for all of the encouragement. It really does mean a lot :)

Yes, I think ds2 was one of the first. His birthday was Friday. We have a little ritual of going out for Chinese with my parents on the actual birthday and doing family presents after, as the party is hardly ever on the same day. Then we had the party on Sunday afternoon at the house (well, my former residence iykwim).

It went over well I thought. There were 8 children ds2's age and 4 ds1's age. They ran all over the place, played on the zip line in the back yard, basketball in the basement, general mayhem with toy guns. H brought out train set stuff for the playroom and set up a lego building station and even put paper on the wall for coloring. I did my best to smile nicely and tell him thank you.

Still found it rather stressful putting on the happy family face for all of the parents who stayed but ds2 had a great time. I have a feeling we will be doing it elsewhere next year...

Definitely needed Wine afterwards but settled for half a Xanax.

Oh and I got the cake from a bakery for this one Wink

Indith · 27/11/2013 14:36

Mmmm thread worms.

A washing and a scrubbing and a shining torches up kids arses in the night.

Now this is the sort of thing they should cover in school sex ed classes. Enough to make any teenager use contraception!

jabberwocky · 28/11/2013 04:15

ewwwww

here, Indith

Wine

you need this more than I do

EustaciaVye · 28/11/2013 18:54

Having dealt with threadworms a few times Hmm I suggest you dont bother with midnight torches. just give them over when they say they are itchy if they complain for more than 24 hours. wash bedding, cut nails, administer hand washing lecture.

EustaciaVye · 28/11/2013 18:54

ovex not over

Indith · 29/11/2013 15:08

Well we are all dosed up. Me and ds2 had to get prescription form Dr so a day later than the rest. The CM has texted to say ds2 did a massive poo that was full of bodies Grin. Hopefully it is having a similar effect on everyone else too and we will be free of the blighters. The bottle of liquid ds2 had has enough left in it for a further dose if need be for all the dcs.

I could do with washing some clothes at some point having washed bedding. Washed bedding again after 1 night as I can't trust the dcs not to be scratching at night. Clean towels daily. Now we are 2 nights post drugs you think I'm safe not to wash all the bedding again?

In laws have not even entered the house, only parked outside and are annoying me. We told them dd would be too tired to walk back form school. As in shattered. As in fall to the floor and fall asleep tired. As in it is hard enough work getting her to walk to the car let alone all the way home. As in is wetting herself daily at school tired.

But no because they had the bright idea of arriving in time to pick up from school they have parked, not even come in and set off walking with just a phone call to let us know.

They don't even have a snack. You cannot make a couple of knackered KS1 children walk 1.2 miles home after school on a Friday without a snack.

Dh is just going "ok, whatever" at my rantings but it bloody well isn't ok, it isn't fair to dd.

EustaciaVye · 30/11/2013 10:28

yes Indith that will be fine. Follow up with 2nd dose 2 _weeks later just to be sure. Keep nails short and scream at children if you see them scratching. onesies for bed are effective too Grin

Indith · 30/11/2013 10:40

yup. I just really want rid. ds2 has had 2 really unsettled nights too when he had been sleeping well. Hope he is just belt aching from the medicine and it will soon pass. dd still wetting at school, think she itched so much it stings to go. Argh! I was just starting to think my older ones were fairly continent!

beautiful day today. crisp, cold but sunny.

Still can't believe they are all turning 7. photos look do grown up! How did it happen?

course mine won't be 7 til well into the new year. lazy sod. But my little dec 08 child will be 5 soon Sad .

jabberwocky · 01/12/2013 03:12

Poor dd, Indith. And the rest. I can't imagine dealing with that for days and days.

We are surviving Thanksgiving over here. Awful, awful day on Thursday with just the 4 of us. I had thought it was important to try to maintain some sort of normality for the boys but not next year :( Although really it was similar last year. My extended family waits until the weekend to descend upon us so today was a mad confusion of food, children and thankfully, plenty of Wine.

Ds 2 stayed with h but ds1 wanted to keep our weekly tradition of pizza night so off we went for that. I had a very small salad...

EustaciaVye · 02/12/2013 22:16

Jabber. It must be difficult. I imagine the kids would see through the pretence before long. Concentrate on giving them a great life in your new home rather than trying to make up for the changes to their old life x x
