Afternoon.

Mrs W-Long time,no see.Glad to hear you're lurking too.

Trib-Hope you're feeling a bit better today.I also had an iffy tummy yesterday, which kept me in all day.

Have been really busy here,so another useless Junie, although I am lurking.Oscar had an appointment with the paed at the hospital this morning and he's now got another in November to see the surgeon,as he's got to have a little op as his right testicle still hasn't descended.Poor little man seems to spend so much time at various hospitals-can't believe he's got another "procedure" to have done.
The paed is also worried as he isn't saying anything yet.He started saying muma and dada really early but since we've been saying mummy and daddy,he's stopped. She said by 14 months he "should" be able to say 5-6 words and she said if he doesn't start talking soon, then he may have to see a speech therapist.

Are any other Junie babies still not talking yet?
Mrs W-Has your HV or anyone mentioned anything about your ds2 not talking? I know they all do things at different stages but the paed did seem quite concerned.
He was also weighed and measured and is 83cms which apparently is really tall,so it's not all bad.

I was also meant to go for lots of tests today at the hospital, but totally forgot to starve myself and only realised halfway through my scrambled eggs on toast this morning,so it's back to the hospital again on Friday-never mind eh?

Hope everyone is well and sorry for the me me me post.x

Afternoon ladies

Have been off-line since last week, so at work is the first time I've been able to catch up!

Bubb, nice to see you again, but at the paed!!! Some babies say words really early, but equally some don't. DS only had about 10 words at 2 years old. At 2 yrs 6 weeks he had 100 (counted for late 2 yr check up ) and now I'm frantically looking for any off button!!!! At this age though the only thing he said was dada, obviously for daddy and daaa for me...which he maintained until he was 22 months and finally acquiesced to saying muma! DD currently says dada, muma and NAN (usually very loudly - poor Nanny ). If you are happy with his progress, and he's alert and hears sounds/noises then I wouldn't worry - it will come in time - and then as I know all too well, you'll yearn for the days he didn't talk

Mrs W - nice too see you too. DD also one day found that walking was quicker, and has now been walking independently for alittle over a week now

Trib (and Bubb) hope your tummy upsets are better today. Te he he at the broodiness, and at DH's reaction...my DH was the same - I just told him that we were having another one and that's that (when trying for DD)...and he's told me that that's fine but any more now and he's gone I'm almost tempted to put it to the test...then I remember the birth!

Big hello's to everyone else .

Big news in Tea household this last week, besides DD walking is that the young lady I'm covering maternity for isn't coming back, so once again I am now fully employed - not sure yet whether I'm happy or sad about this! Unfortunately I'll have to increase in hours to 4 days a week, and odd fridays, but on plus side more money and most fridays still free for coffee morning meetups and shopping!

tribpot · 15/08/2006 16:54

tea - sounds like good news about the job, one less thing to worry about. Well done to dd for walking (ds still isn't - quite - but my defence is he is a very young Junie )

Still feeling v iffy, had to cancel a long-planned lunch with some friends today, one of whom lives out of the country and so I only see her once a year Extremely dischuffed about losing one of my only 'me-days' but what can you.

EYM, we are (I think, having not checked work email today) meeting in Leeds for lunch on Thur (I may have a dry crust of bread and a glass of water but Leeds I can do). Please come along if you would like! You can email me on tribunicia underscore potestas at hotmail dot com.

Any other Junies are naturally welcome as well.

Bubb - I don't think there anything wrong with not talking, ds doesn't have any actual words, just mama (mummy AND milk), dada (just daddy), ba-ba (ball AND banana) and wo-wo. Wo-wo means, and I am not joking, any white paper or cardboard in rolled form, particularly kitchen roll and loo paper. This was his first 'word'. He goes mad when we go in the pharmacy and there is an entire basket of wo-wo on display.

However, he understands a lot of other words, and can point at lots of things when we say 'where's such-and-such'? so I'm not concerned. One of my dnephews had virtually no words at 2 either, but he soon picked up a gear when he moved into the 2-3 room at nursery.

Lua · 15/08/2006 21:17

Hi there!

Bub- Another one here with a wordless junie... We get lot of gibberish, but the only thing that he really "says" is Baahhh, with many different intonotations... I do get worry sometimes, but obviously he is trying and effectively communicating so I put down to maleness...
Crossed with the paed though for making you worry about this!

Trib- sorry to hear you had to cancel your lunch date. Do check you e-mail though!
I'll be out of contact tomorrow, but am still counting on the trip thursday.

MrsWednesday · 15/08/2006 22:11

Glad to read DS2 isn't the only non-communicative Junie - can't believe your paed is wittering on about it to you Bubbs. I was told once that they are usually 'walking at one, talking at two' (roughly) so hadn't even given it a second thought. Sorry to hear about that he's got another op to go through - must be tough for you (he won't remember any of it, unlike his mummy and daddy).

EYM, we haven't got as far as a venue yet but I'd imagine it will be near the train station as I think that's how Lua is travelling over? I'm hoping to be in town for about 12.45 - is that ok for everyone? If it's too late, you just get started and I'll join you half way through.

Tea, it's funny how they just decide to start walking isn't it? DS2 reminds me of a football hooligan when he's tottering about - with his big belly and ungainly stagger, all he's missing is a couple of tattoos and a pint of lager in his hand . Is your DS getting excited about starting school? Congratulations on the job (I think ).

Trib, sorry to hear about your lunch. Hope you are gradually starting to feel a bit better - must be tough for you when you're usually the one who has to keep going all the time.

Right, better go - supposed to be doing some work tonight but really want to stay on here...

tribpot · 16/08/2006 09:37

MrsW - 12:45 fine with me, EYM this is intended to be a childfree meeting of the Junies, just so you know!

katzg · 16/08/2006 09:56

wish i could make it but i'm stuck at work today.

If any of you fancy it then i'm happy to host a play date the week of the 28th Aug at my house.

A quick rundown of my day (after restless night co-sleeping with ds, whilst still ill).

First thing: dh announces VPAP machine's settings are making it unworkable, can I phone sleep service. Phone sleep service. They never call back (and is unlikely they can help anyway as the specialist is on holiday).

Mid-morning: trip to baby clinic, to be interrogated by hv about whether I am depressed, she is coming round to do the Edinburgh test next Wednesday (oh joy). Plus having to explain what sleep apnoea is to her, yadda yadda yadda.

1:15: ds wakes from his nap and is violently sick and I mean violently.

Afternoon: ds passes the time being violently sick after everything, including water.

5:30: go to GP to be told "he'll be fine, just keep giving him water". I now expect a night from hell (although to be fair, ds has been asleep for an hour and a half so far)

Just now: dh announces he doesn't want to use the VPAP machine tonight, even though I point out that the noise of his snoring will keep me awake (this is even though ds and I are sleeping on a different floor of the house from dh).

And cannot even have a glass of wine as tummy feels too rubbish after my illness.

About to take herbal sleeping tablet (of Boots not Amsterdam variety) - wish me luck.

sfxmum · 16/08/2006 23:17

hello all quick catch up

katz- hope you have recovered from the holidays

trib- good lord the proverbial when it rains it pours! hope against all odd you manage some rest tonight - poor ds hope his tummy settles

EYM - hope you hear from hospital soon with good news so fingers crossed.

Bubb - at paed and poor pet yet another procedure, hope it all goes well, amazing how they get over all these traumas that leave parents in pieces

tea- congrats on job

lua - at maleness bless him hope you well

enjoy thu child free meet up.

here still no walking but sleep much better. i have friday off but am on call over the weekend, think will have a long weekend off next week
night night

2Happy · 17/08/2006 15:07

Afternoon all.
Trib - sounds rough at your end! I hope both you and ds feel better and you get a good sleep.
Sfx- hope your weekend on call is quiet.
Bub b*llocks. Sorry, but really! We all know babies develop at different rates - look at their walking. My ds's language is better than dneice (17m) but she's been walking since 11m and ds is barely there now. Seriously, dneice has only really started talking in the last month, and if she's developmentally delayed then I'm a halibut!
Tea - congrats on the work
EYM - glad to hear you're feeling better
Katz - hope you're feeling rested after your holiday
MrsW - nice to 'see' you!
Lua - it's amazing isn't it, they can make a totally unintelligible noise, but yet you know exactly what they want
Anyway, following on from the fishy reference above, I have my very own trout pout now! But only because ds managed to headbut me in the mouth this afternoon Does anyone else's lo like to bash their heads against things?? He's also dropping his morning nap, which is so annoying because it means he's knackered and wailing by lunch. Still, the morning sickness continues to improve, thank goodness! Lummox - hope you're feeling better too!

Lua · 17/08/2006 21:50

The dopey price of the year is MINE!!!!
Left home to meet Trib and MrsW in Leeds, and took th etrain to......
.....Sheffield!!!

Many thanks to Katz, for indulging this crazy woman for a unexpected coffee date, and not making me feel like a complete fool!

2 Happy - My DS is a headbanger too! He is getting a bit better, but any time he gets frustrated he starts banging his head! It is hard to stop him because he throws a real tantrum. So the other day I just put a pillow under him. The cheeky monkey now looks for a pillow, then bangs his head! Man, i tell you!

Glad to hear sickness is getting better!

And congrats on the job, TEA!

katzg · 18/08/2006 09:00

and lovely it was to see you Lua!

sfxmum · 18/08/2006 16:04

hello all
took dd shoping today i think i am raising a girly girl, much to my horror she points and shouts 'dresses shoes' whenever we walk into a clothes shop
how did that happen? i hate shopping!

work is organising a garden party for family and friend on sunday i really hope the weather gets better

lua - at least junie mums are nice people who can harbour a lost person in needor at least katz is anyway

hope you are all well

bubbaloo · 19/08/2006 17:42

Afternoon all,
Just thought I'd let you all know our good news-I think I'm pg yet.
I've been feeling not so good and was at the hospital yesterday having some tests done but had an inkling I may be pg.Have done 2 tests today and they are both positive. Can't believe Ds took 7 years to arrive and this one, just a couple of months.
Hope you are all well-I will eventually catch up with you all.

bubbaloo · 19/08/2006 17:48

yet=again.

MrsWednesday · 19/08/2006 17:55

Ah Bubbs, that's brilliant news

Congratulations to you and Mr Bubbs.

lummox · 19/08/2006 18:15

hey congrats bubbaloo, that's great (after the first few weeks anyway ).

all is good here. ds has finally started to walk - both arms straight out in front of him, mummy style.

very little talking, though, just a few words and nodding, but even this is very patchy. bubbaloo i think someone suggesting that you should be worried about your ds is ridiculous. i have a good friend whose ds is bright as a button and didn't have any words until he was two. he is now three and a half speaking more fluently and clearly than some of his friends. she was made to feel very bad by her MIL (who is a health visitor - doesn't bear thinking about that one) and it was all so pointless. sorry to go on, makes me cross just thinking about it.

2Happy · 19/08/2006 20:18

Bubbaloo! That's great news!! Congratulations So it'll not quite be another Junie then?

sfxmum · 19/08/2006 20:23

congratulations bubbsgreat news hope it all goes smoothly

bubbaloo · 19/08/2006 20:51

Thanks everyone-I'm still in shock and can't quite believe it has happened a 2nd time.We were told it would never even work a first time.

Thanks for all your replies too on that annoying paed I saw on Tuesday. She really got me worried at first, but although Ds isn't talking I know he is taking it all in and he certainly understands when I talk to him...especially the word NO.

2Happy · 19/08/2006 20:55

Ha ha, Bubs - if he's anything like ds, he understands "no", gives a cheeky grin, and goes right on doing whatever it was. Or throws a tantrum. Or both... Threw a right wobbler at the beach today because he wanted to keep on wading, absolutely no comprehension of getting out of his depth [forehead slapping emoticon]

bubbaloo · 19/08/2006 21:49

lol-that's excatly what he does do.

Lucky you at the beach today-we've had torrential rain here most of the day, although Ds did manage 5 mins in the garden on his swing this morning.

tribpot · 20/08/2006 15:25

Yay bubb! What great news.

katzg · 20/08/2006 16:14
