Utopian could it be his teething that has got him unsettled? H has had some appalling nights sleep recently which was down to teething and this cold shes got.

Willyou i'd ignore her as long as your happy with the nursery thats all that matters.

WL hope your feeling better soon. Thanks

H has taken 3 steps in a row by herself a few time tonight, after that she just drops to the floor haha.

willyou you know what's best for you and J, she doesn't. Deep breath and ignore!

WLmum · 28/10/2013 21:52

utopian that sounds very wise. Af can't be that far away surely?! You can always try again in a months time - a month of unhappy baby is a long time, a months extra age gap is nothing.

hales yay for the steps. Is she feeling better now?

halestone · 28/10/2013 22:14

WL shes still got a snotty nose but its not constant now she seems fine in herself. Her sleep has been rubbish still though i'm just waiting for the last tooth to pop through now. Shes had 2 come up since friday. I hope this one is as quick.

WLmum · 28/10/2013 22:26

Blimey, T has still only got 2!

halestone · 28/10/2013 22:38

I'm hoping she gets abit of a break after this one comes through. Although to be fair they have never really bothered her until these last 3.

Ds only has two teeth too! And they're not all the way through!

ddas · 29/10/2013 06:13

We only have two little ones too but somehow manages to chew everything!

Barbeasty · 29/10/2013 06:15

Another with just 2, but lots of lumps, bumps, and we can still see the 2 top front teeth through the front of the gum.

FriendofDorothy · 29/10/2013 06:17

The Little Mister still doesn't have any teeth!

This morning he got me up at 5.30am and I feel knackered. The husband is lying in bed still which is irritating, When I go back to work in a couple of weeks he has another think coming if he expects me to get up all the time!

2blessed · 29/10/2013 06:24

R has 8 teeth and I'm sure he has a back one coming through.

Yay.to baby hales for stepping!

R has been sleeping since 7.45 whoo!

I echo what everyone else has said willyou, trust your research and instinct.

Barbeasty · 29/10/2013 07:21

Both DC off to MIL's for the day, so I can tackle the pit of a house.

I'll need to work up some courage to venture into the dumping ground playroom.

Maryland2013 · 29/10/2013 08:16

Can I ask what everyone gives their LO for breakfast? DS has just started absolutely refusing his porridge that he used to love. He retches if we try to trick him into eating it.
At the moment he's eating fruit and gnawing at a couple of bits of toast but I'm worried as it's nowhere near enough breakfast surely?!

Very happy to hear other suggestions :)

PurplePidjOrTreatin · 29/10/2013 08:30

Weetabix with fruit puree first thing, and he's tucking into a slice of toast now while i have my breakfast :)

Maryland2013 · 29/10/2013 08:58

Thanks Pidj we're out of weetabix so will get more and see if I can disguise it with fruit. It's funny as I don't like the taste/ texture of porridge either!

Is there too much sugar in Cheerios? He has handfuls of them as snacks..

Barbeasty · 29/10/2013 09:04

Yesterday A had a small bit of toast and a banana. At nursery he has porridge. He's been known to steal DD's cereal (cherios or rice crispies) when she isn't looking.

I find it difficult because I only do their breakfast 3 days a week (sat-mon) and DD helps herself.

Is it bad that I've only got as far as putting away the clean washing and I had to stop for a cup of tea (took over 30 mins)? I don't think a week off is enough for my a4 list of jobs......

WillYouDoTheMonsterMash · 29/10/2013 09:25

Grin Barbeasty you can do it. Up and at em!

Yes FoD, my DP has a shock coming when I go back to work too. He gets up before us at 5:30 (well for the last few weeks I've got up at 4:45, but we'll gloss over that) so I do everything in a morning. In exchange he is supposed to finish at 3pm. Since he started that shift 4 weeks ago he's finished on time once. He needs to get tough with his boss as the nursery closes before I get home. He'll also have to get used to making tea again!

J has 6 teeth and 3 more doing the Hokey Cokey!

The clock change has messed up my wonderful late sleeper. He now gets up at 6:45 instead of 8:30, which will be good when I go back to work but I'm a night owl!

How about reduced sugar/salt beans on toast for breakfast (whoever asked, maybe Ddas?). I've started buying milk loaf for J and while I doubt it has any nutritional value, he loves it.

He keeps trying to bite me on the thighs while I wee. I'm not impressed Hmm

lazzaroo · 29/10/2013 10:03

Hi all, back from visit to in-laws. We survived although am knackered as sleep went completely out of the window....why does everyone think .I'm insane to suggest that the worse baby lazza's daytime sleep is the worse her nights are?! Is that so unusual?! I can't stand the 'oh, she'll sleep well tonight!' or 'oh, you'd think it'd be the other way round'!

It was generally a nice couple of days. My only gripe is that dmil seems to be under the impression that dd1 is calling fil 'father'. She is not. Yes, she has a speech delay. Yes, it is not entirely clear. But, no, that is not what she us saying. She is saying grandad. Why on earth would she call him father?! Dh can't understand why I got so bothered about it & of course, said nothing.

lazzaroo · 29/10/2013 10:12

Oh, and baby lazza has all kinds of cereal for breakfast. I tend to stick to ready break or weetabix. Dh does breakfast when he's home though & he does cheerio's, shreddies or cornflakes. Is that really bad Blush. she enjoys them because she can feed pick them up & eat them herself.

I think we're going through a bit of nap transition. Which means milk/snack times are going a bit out of the window. Sometimes I wish we had a better routine but don't know where to start!

ISpyWithMyEvilEye · 29/10/2013 11:07

Willyou - glad you've sorted a nursery. Bet your SIL would have something to say about the town where our nursery is tooWink but we've always been happy with it. It's N's first proper day tomorrow. He had his last settling in session yesterday and was a bit more "up and down" than he had been previously, but fx that was just because he was tired after a busy weekend.

Hope all teething babies are feeling better soon. We've had 8 teeth for ages but no. 9 has finally put in an appearance. It's been hard going.

Pumpkin carving today. On reflection it was a mistake to let DS1 choose it. He's picked a ridiculously large specimen and is already bored with scooping the flesh out. Fun day ahead for me then Grin.

halestone · 29/10/2013 11:20

Maryland, We vary breakfast for H so it could be toast one day, or cereal another if shes at my nans she'll have scrambled eggs (she won't eat it if i make it though).

H has 12 teeth just awaiting the 13th and then hopefully she can have a break.

She has got blood in her snot today but she keeps rubbing her nose so her finger may have caught her nostril. Or is it something i should be worried about? She is also in a good mood please don't let me writing that jinx it

halestone · 29/10/2013 11:26

I forgot to say Lazza i totally agree about the naps. I also cannot get it through to my family that if she naps well in the day she sleeps better of a night. They say similar comments to the ones you've heard.

Ispy i hope he has a better day at nursery today.

Beasty i hope you get some time to yourself after cleaning.

Love the analogy of teeth 'doing the hokey coley' Willyou. DS currently has one doing that which seems to be driin him crazy!

Empathising with all who are having difficulty persuading family towards their way of parenting. Both DS's sets of grandparents have very different ideas to us and aren't shy about telling us. Fortunately (in that respect), neither are particularly keen to help out or have him.

Yay to steps Hales Grin

I'm with you on the wrath of DHs laying in FOD. DH is supposed to get up if DS wakes after 5am but always claims he doesn't hear him/ doesn't know what time it is Angry. He apparently needs more sleep even when I'm working be aide he has to commute (and can snooze on the train) Confused.

We do Weetabix or toast with cream cheese and fruit for breakfast.

In the same ill, could anyone expand our snack repertoire please. I've tried to avoid 'baby snacks' which seem overpriced and generally don't seem to go well, so we so breadsticks, rice cakes, toast, veg sticks, fruits etched, but it feels a bit samey!

WillYouDoTheMonsterMash · 29/10/2013 12:45

Pitta pizza Equimum, pitta/milk loaf, tomato purée, sprinkling of cheese under grill for a minute. DS loves it.

I have bought some commercial ones tho as DS pinched some off another baby ShockBlush and loved them. You am get them on offer in aldi quite often.

Aldi also do some little plain crackers in packs that DS like with cream cheese on.

caloriecount.about.com/nakd-banana-bread-bar-recipe-r514258

I made these today but they need to set in the fridge over night. R had a bit of nakd bar today and loved it, so i googled! Sainsburys do a pringles tube of mini breadsticks, Asda and Tesco do own brand baby sized rice cakes. He also likes prunes, sultanas, pears, apples, banana and satsumas as snacks. He's currently nomming a crumpet washed down with cows milk, but that depends on how much other bread he's had in a day and if i need an excuse to eat one
