Hi All, long time away, but Christmas photos on Facebook prompted me to say hello. (S is Father Christmas for those like me who are rubbish at remembering names)
Sorry to hear about all the illnesses. I hope you're all feeling better soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we're all well. Last year everyone in my family seemed to be ill. I mostly slept from Boxing Day onwards for about 10 days.
Hearing potty training antics is beginning to give me hope. I don't feel so alone and we may get there one day.
S just doesn't get it At All. We've caught a few poos when I've made him sit on the toilet or potty because the trumping and time of day let me know what was going on. We've had one wee on the potty but that was with a poo too. Timed perfectly for when my neighbour had called to the door and S came and proudly announced to him that he'd done a poo and a wee! He's seems totally unaware when he's weeing. I tried a few days of having him in pants but we just ended up with numerous accidents and he didn't seem to be aware he was wet through.... or dancing round in a puddle. He also keeps telling me poo comes out of his willy!
He just doesn't get it.
I had it really easy with DD, we'd been in Cornwall the week before she started pre-school so although we'd had some success I was reluctant to give up nappies when we had a 9 hour car journey looming. She started nursery 2 days after we got back and they said to just send her in pants. She had an accident the first day because she didn't know where the toilet was then she was fine. 2 weeks later she was dry at night.
S starts at the same nursery in January, they've said again just send him in knickers but I think I may have to send him in pull ups.
I need a couple of weeks off work to concentrate on it. DH says he will but the way he is at the moment it's highly unlikely.
Other than that life is okay. Kids are ridiculously excited for Christmas. I'm trying to keep it low key as far as extended family and lots of visits goes as DH is struggling a bit at the moment. My family understand but his family have a habit of organising our lives at times and it's the last thing he needs.
We don't have an Elf on the Shelf, we have the Christmas Fairy. She leaves the chocolates in the Advent Calendar (we have a wooden house and tree.) This year DD decided she wanted to be penpals with the Fairy so every night they've exchanged letters.... which is my cue to leave.
We're off on the Santa Special Steam train tomorrow as a surprise for the kids, so I was meant to be having an early night....
