Today not going quite so well. Apart from a toilet wee at 4.30 when he woke me up (chicken pox itching woke him up) we've had nothing on the potty (despite lots of sittings) one poo in his pants (he did tell me straight away - improvement) and one wee accident.

Still, going to push on. He told me this morning he didn't want to wear a nappy and his nappy was dry (though of course he had an early morning wee which wouldn't normally happen).

Bloody chicken pox though. I'll cry if he can't go to nursery next week when I'm on ML as I can't get anything done with him home ATM.

CallingAllEngels · 05/12/2014 14:34

Finally a wee on the potty today

MrsHende · 05/12/2014 18:20

Hooray! Keep at it, it's no fun but it only lasts a couple of weeks, if that.

You can do it!x

CallingAllEngels · 05/12/2014 20:36

I was honestly losing the will to live until his potty wee this afternoon. Then he did fantastically - 4 wees on potty or toilet and the world's smallest poo on the potty (but a poo is a poo!).

Meant he got his reward for 4 stickers in a day (a yummy dessert) and lots and lots of praise.

Sinterklaas stopped by DH knocking on windows outside and left a bag of presents on our back step. At first DS was scared to open the door because he didn't know who/what it could be but he went nuts when he saw the presents! Wish I'd filmed him! And he didn't get much (a cow onesie, some farm animals, a pair of socks and some Thomas stickers) - reckon I only spent 15 euros on all 4 things though have not added up Christmas yet but am guessing I've spent more on myself than on him

Poor little things is still itching like mad. Not sure at what stage he can go back to nursery? Most of his spots are already scabbing over - he only has a few with the blister on and once that's gone he's not contagious right? I'm annoyed because he must have got it from someone at nursery but there haven't been any announcements. If I hadn't had chicken pox or if I was a few weeks further along and the baby came now then it could be really dangerous.

Same thing happened when M had slapped cheek last year. He must have got it from nursery but no one else had communicated anything. When I told them (he was no longer contagious so could go back straight away) they put up a sign as it's dangerous to pregnant women/can cause mc.

Maybe other people just don't communicate these things so they don't have to keep their kids off? Bloody rude.

CallingAllEngels · 06/12/2014 10:37

Poo on the potty Xmas Grin ! It is quite ridiculous how happy this makes me, especially because he said he wanted to do a poo so shows he can recognise the urge.

And his nappy was completely dry this morning Xmas Grin

CallingAllEngels · 06/12/2014 17:54

Accident free day! The boy is on a roll!

MrsHende · 06/12/2014 19:30

You two have got potty training nailed!x

ipswichwitch · 06/12/2014 19:59

Hello all! You keep dropping off the threads I'm on :)

Massive congratulations
MrsH Flowers I know I found it easier with baby and toddler thy being gp with toddler - no more waddling about after N!! Can't believe D is almost 1 already Shock

engels that's great going re potty training. It's amazing how they suddenly just get it. N has been dry through the day and night for some time (potty trained in summer) but does have the odd accident. He's in pants at night now, as he asked to be, so we invested in waterproof sheets!

We have finally seen the sleep consultant for N. He has 2 sleep disorders which ran he can't transition through the sleep cycles, and gets stuck in limbo between them - hence the night terrors, sleepwalking and all too frequent night wakings. We have to get him used to being in bed alone, so leave him in bed while we pop to the toilet and if he stays there gets a sticker. We also have to wake him at 10 every night then settle. That's to help train his brain to transition properly. He's getting better in that he's not waking screaming so much, but it will take time.

D is also a horrible sleeper, probably because we've been too quick to settle him so he didn't wake N (D has the loudest scream!) so we have to figure out what to do there. So far pu/pd hasn't worked and neither did cc (tried in desperation). We'll leave it a little while until this bout of teething is done I think.

Apart from no sleep and some illness for me all is well. Almost done the Christmas shopping. Just a mammoth pile of presents to wrap now! Thats if I remember where I hid them all Grin

CallingAllEngels · 06/12/2014 21:20

God ips sleep problems sound horrific. Have seen you on the Christmas baragain threads - curious to know how much you have for the boys!

Have just put up Christmas tree and now sorting out my version of elf on shelf for M....we don't have an elf, but we do have a Christmas penguin! DH is such a humbug about it all - hasn't lifted a finger for Christmas or Sinterklaas but know that he found M's reactions to presents in his shoes for Sinterklaas amazing as well.

ipswichwitch · 06/12/2014 22:34

I've probably got too much engels but thanks to the bargain thread, I've not spent much at all (a little over £100 each). N has more Jake and the Neverland Pirates stuff, a Leappad and play doh bits plus a load of smaller/stocking filler presents. D has Happyland submarine, little people farm set, mega bloks and other bits n bobs. D is getting a smart trike for his birthday, as for some reason we never got one for N, so it's one of the few things that we can't hand down!

Feeling a little sad as I've been getting rid of all the baby clothes. I really don't think we'll have any more, plus we need the space and can't keep all the clothes just in case. Have been taking it all to the local women's refuge along with my maternity clothes. They were chuffed to bits, and I'll be taking the next lot soon. Least it's all going for a good cause eh. I have kept one or two of my favourite outfits though! (Sentimental or what!)

CallingAllEngels · 07/12/2014 14:07

I am clearly flooding the thread which shows I'm on ML but am so pleased - another day doing well and this time have had to prompt him less. Mahoosive poo on potty which he "announced" himself (definitely DH's son then Xmas Grin ).

I reckon I will be doing the same ips as DH has always said he only wants 2. I did originally wanted more (am one of 4 myself) but I can't imagine another 6 years of baby/toddler time and have found this pg so much harder with having DS as well.

CallingAllEngels · 10/12/2014 08:38

Going well - only one accident yesterday at nursery when he didn't quite get to toilet in time for a wee.

Poo confusion this morning - he asked to sit on the toilet , tiniest bit of poo came out, he wouldn't stay on toilet then pooed his pants, cleaned him up then he did a massive poo on toilet ...wonder if he'd been holding it in yesterday!

Still, am so pleased. And chicken pox has passed so baby can safely arrive now Xmas Smile

37+3 and have mw later to see if baby is engaged. has been doing some proper wriggling so hope he/she hasn't turned round.

Making sure I have all the Christmas presents wrapped and labelled clearly for DH just in case I'm in labour or nb is here.

M is loving our version of elf on the shelf - a little Christmas penguin called Rusty who put up the tree and is bringing M a Christmas book every few days (if he's been good!).

ipswichwitch · 10/12/2014 08:53

Rusty sounds great :) some of those elves I've seen look a bit creepy to me (but then I am scared of clowns and ventriloquist dummies!)

Glad the chicken pox has gone. It went around N's nursery when I was pregnant with D but thankfully N never got it.

Can't believe D is 1 in 3 days! Him arriving so close to Christmas meant we had a lovely relaxing time at home, and that has become our new tradition. So I have the M&S Christmas food ordered and plans to make a grotto in the living room with a cardboard playhouse and battery powered lights :) I can't wait!

CallingAllEngels · 10/12/2014 09:10

Sounds awesome ips . We are having a relxing day at home too. may pop to ILs for coffee at 11 if baby is not here yet, but then back to ours for afternoon chilling and dinner.

DH is in charge of food so probably either a roast chicken or shoulder of lamb. But I am making sure we have lots of yummy nibbles in.

Hope D has a good birthday Cake

strawberrypenguin · 10/12/2014 18:49

Grotto sounds awesome ips hope D has a fab birthday.

Glad the chickenpox have gone eng

W helped me wrap some presents earlier so at least I can explain any dodgy wrapping with the fact I had 'help' Grin

CallingAllEngels · 11/12/2014 08:43

M wants to help me with everything atm strawbs - cleaning, hoovering, cooking. He helped knead the pizza dough and decorate it last night. Very sweet.

And the little champ did a poo on the toilet this morning

strawberrypenguin · 15/12/2014 12:34

Just when I thought we were starting to cut down on hospital visits W has picked up a bowel infection that doesn't seem to want to clear up (4 weeks on antibiotics and counting) so his GP has referred us to his Winchester pead consultant.

He's being a bit sad at the moment too, keeps saying he doesn't like nursery very much but seems to fine while he's there. Also going through a testing phase where he seems to be pushing his boundaries all the

strawberrypenguin · 15/12/2014 12:37

time (sorry phone app being weird!) so I feel like all I do is tell him 'no' although he has lovely moments too.
We decorated the tree yesterday and he loved doing that and was singing all the Christmas songs he's been learning at nursery.

CallingAllEngels · 15/12/2014 13:31

Sorry to hear that strawb . Hope he's feeling better soon and they can find a way to solve the problem.

I have been up half the night with M with a really high temperature. He's been in and out of sleep on the sofa all day and threw up a little while ago. I think he has some kind of tummy trouble as he hasn't pooed a lot the last few days. Took him to GP who checked him over and gave him some lactulose.

Typical when he only has tomorrow and Wednesday at nursery - I call them my sanity days when I'm on half term, and even more so now on ML at 38 weeks pg!

He loves our Christmas tree and lights. I just hope I'm not in labour on Christmas Eve/day as have lots of things for him (Christmas eve hamper, stockings on bed, present downstairs from FC) for the first year he actually gets it.

CallingAllEngels · 15/12/2014 13:46

But on the plus side atm I think potty training has gone really well. he's still having an accident on average every other day when he doesn't quite get there in time and we haven't been out of the house a lot but small steps.

AwkwardAnnie · 22/12/2014 23:18

Hi All, long time away, but Christmas photos on Facebook prompted me to say hello. (S is Father Christmas for those like me who are rubbish at remembering names)

Sorry to hear about all the illnesses. I hope you're all feeling better soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we're all well. Last year everyone in my family seemed to be ill. I mostly slept from Boxing Day onwards for about 10 days.

Hearing potty training antics is beginning to give me hope. I don't feel so alone and we may get there one day.
S just doesn't get it At All. We've caught a few poos when I've made him sit on the toilet or potty because the trumping and time of day let me know what was going on. We've had one wee on the potty but that was with a poo too. Timed perfectly for when my neighbour had called to the door and S came and proudly announced to him that he'd done a poo and a wee! He's seems totally unaware when he's weeing. I tried a few days of having him in pants but we just ended up with numerous accidents and he didn't seem to be aware he was wet through.... or dancing round in a puddle. He also keeps telling me poo comes out of his willy! Hmm He just doesn't get it.

I had it really easy with DD, we'd been in Cornwall the week before she started pre-school so although we'd had some success I was reluctant to give up nappies when we had a 9 hour car journey looming. She started nursery 2 days after we got back and they said to just send her in pants. She had an accident the first day because she didn't know where the toilet was then she was fine. 2 weeks later she was dry at night.
S starts at the same nursery in January, they've said again just send him in knickers but I think I may have to send him in pull ups.
I need a couple of weeks off work to concentrate on it. DH says he will but the way he is at the moment it's highly unlikely.

Other than that life is okay. Kids are ridiculously excited for Christmas. I'm trying to keep it low key as far as extended family and lots of visits goes as DH is struggling a bit at the moment. My family understand but his family have a habit of organising our lives at times and it's the last thing he needs.

We don't have an Elf on the Shelf, we have the Christmas Fairy. She leaves the chocolates in the Advent Calendar (we have a wooden house and tree.) This year DD decided she wanted to be penpals with the Fairy so every night they've exchanged letters.... which is my cue to leave.

We're off on the Santa Special Steam train tomorrow as a surprise for the kids, so I was meant to be having an early night....

CallingAllEngels · 23/12/2014 10:07

Hi Annie !

I was tearing my hair out with M when we tried potty training in the summer - he just wasn't ready.

M ended up on ABs last week which sorted fever, though still not sure what was bothering him. Still affecting his bowels though, lots of diarrhea. Maybe a side effect of ABs and I wonder if potty training affected him as maybe he was holding it in?

Now he's back at nursery for last day before Christmas closing so I am making the most of it and spending the day on the sofa watching films - though I now have a cold (typical!).

No sign of baby (39+2). Hoping he/she doesn't turn up on Christmas Day as this is the first year M really gets it and I've been so organised at getting everything ready I would be gutted if he didn't get to open his presents with us.

We have Rusty the Christmas Penguin annie ! Have fun on the train.

Hope DH is okay. I'm a little worried about how DH is going to cope with new baby in the house and having to do more with DS. He's been off ADs for at least 6 months and has been doing well losing weight through diet and being more active but still very down about alopecia which isn't getting any better and not sleeping properly (practice for nb days!)

strawberrypenguin · 23/12/2014 13:55

I think it really is a case of waiting until they are ready Annie W has been in pants for a little while but it's only really the last week or so that he's been consistently accident free

Hope you and M both feel better soon eng and that baby stays put until after Christmas Day!

I'm feeling very organised this year (somehow!) everything is wrapped and the food shops done Grin just got to get through the rest of today at work and then I'm off for Christmas Smile

KillashandraRee · 24/12/2014 07:31

Hope you're feeling better Engels?

Annie hope you had a lovely train ride and I agree with strawberry and engels, he will get it (boys just seem to be much later than girls Wink)

Hope everyone is ready for Christmas, I've got bread and cakes to make, two last minute presents to buy and a house to clean. So excited though, E really gets it this year, and J is such a joyous baby that I feel like this will be our first proper family Christmas.

Happy Christmas to you all Wine

CallingAllEngels · 24/12/2014 14:44

Cold has passed thanks killa and strawbs

M's face at Christmas eve hamper delivered by our penguin was great. DH currently in kitchen making apple pie for coffee tomorrow morning with ILs and tiramasu for us in the evening.

Just had mw appt and baby is engaged. Sweep booked for Tuesday at 40+2 if nothing happens till then.

Merry Christmas everyone! Xmas Smile
