$6 soldering iron. DH would be giddy at that too. When I lived in the US dh often got me to bring car parts over for the stupid car he then owned. I once brought brakes over in my carry on.

Vagolajahooli · 16/10/2013 17:21

Imagine the guys looking at the bag on that security xray? Rubes I mentioned the soldering iron to a a male friend in the UK and he actually moaned. He is already about to buy a hot glue gun and is beyond excited about it. He and the boys are going to make robots, I'm sure he is mainly doing it for the educational value for the boys, but a little bit of motivation is to have to buy the hot glue gun and wander around the nerdy electronic bits shop in town.

Didn't it reduce with paracetamol J? You said he is still wiggling. I think you may have over stretched your muscles or they are just having to go that bit further at this time of the pregnancy, but might still be worth the call. I do remember having a conversation on here about pain under the bump and Lady and I wondered if it was our ovaries. However, when Lady queried this with (I think) her consultant, she explained that her ovaries where currently closer to her ribs. Still make me giggle to think of my ovaries all the way up there.

Rubena · 16/10/2013 18:50

Oh vag. You know what my most hated shop is in the UK? Mapland. Dh always apparently needs something from there. I detest it. You should see our garage. Full on scalextric circuit. Totally for ds's dexterity I'm told Hmm

Am off for a casual drink with the reception mums shortly. Quite liking this school lark Grin

JamInMyWellies · 16/10/2013 19:02

The last casual drink I went on with the school mums ended in a lock in at the village pub until 1am. GrinGrin

Vagolajahooli · 16/10/2013 19:20

Maplin Rubes? Enjoy your casual drink!

Rubena · 16/10/2013 19:23

Lol!!! Yes maplin I meant!

Rubena · 16/10/2013 19:25

Jam these ladies don't look like the type......
I didn't organize it either before you ask! Grin I escaped school class rep job as they already had a volunteer who happened to be very tall so most were assuming it was me. (She's much taller) however she seems quite cool so never know!

ShadyLadyT · 16/10/2013 20:13

Have a lovely time Rubes. I like having friends around here, it makes life more fun.

Jam, I hope you are ok. I'm sure you are though - the list of weirdo aches and pains I had in pregnancy was vast. Vag, I had forgotton about that Grin You are right. I said very seriously to her that my right ovary kept hurting and pointed to where, and that was when she rolled her eyes and told me where they actually were in my current spherical state.

Jam, that is a GREAT haul from the US! Cor blimey. I'm not even going to tell DP about the $6 soldering iron. He will get all sad and envious.

JamInMyWellies · 16/10/2013 20:31

Girls at what point would you start getting worrieda bout your DH rather than pissed off that they are not home yet.

DH forgot his phone this morning and told me when he called around 4.30 that he would phone when he was leaving the office and tell me what train he was on.

He is not home and there has been no phonecall.

I am,
A, v pissed that he is not home yet.
B, super pissed that he didnt get home to see the boys.
C actually really worried about where the feck he is.

Vagolajahooli · 16/10/2013 20:35

Yeah I would be a little freaked out by now. But this has happened a few times with DH and it ends up being him thinking he told me one thing when he actually told me he was on the way. Or saying he was leaving work, when actually he was still at his desk and then got held up further. Is there anyone from his work you could call?

JamInMyWellies · 16/10/2013 20:39

Have called his desk phone no answer.

There is a woman I could contact via FB who works not in his dept but at the bank.

JamInMyWellies · 16/10/2013 20:56

He has just walked in the door.

Vagolajahooli · 16/10/2013 21:15

He's in so much trouble

Honsandrevels · 16/10/2013 21:20

Evening all,

I once out my hand on a soldering iron during a CDT lesson. It didn't register at first so I had my poor hand on the damn thing for a good few seconds before I realised. It was the last lesson before hometime so the teacher didn't bother seeking medical attention and I went home on the bus. It was agony! It was a really deep burn and took an age to heal. So be careful with those soldering irons!

Spot You poor thing. No wonder you feel run down.

Beans I'm surprised about the friendship groups. Is it a very small class? It all seems very fluid in dd's class. If they have paired off she is oblivious.

Jam Amazing presents! Well done your dh. Naughty to be late home though. I hate that feeling where I'm angry yet starting to worry.

Dd1 was explaining to me how to write letters today using her special teacher voice. she is funny. Actually we were given a crib sheet by the teacher on parent's night on how to form letters which I thought was a bit odd. Is that something that has changed over the years or varies between countries? Mind you the k had a weird loop at the top 'arm' so maybe I've been writing it wrong all these years.

JamInMyWellies · 17/10/2013 09:05

Urgh suffice to say I am apparantly unreasonable for worrying.

End of my moaning.

beans37 · 17/10/2013 09:57

of course you are Jam. it couldn't possibly be a lack of consideration for you on his part! !!

Rubena · 17/10/2013 10:14

Exactly. He's undone all that good work bringing gifts too! Bloody men. #notsothoughtful

Mckayz · 17/10/2013 10:54

How the fudge are you being unreasonable??? What would he have done if god forbid one of the kids had fallen ill or fallen and hurt themselves and need medical treatment. Men!!!

Vagolajahooli · 17/10/2013 15:23

How is worrying ever unreasonable. So if he comes home late because there had been horrendous traffic or train issues and he hadn't contacted you and was worried you would be concerned and he walked in and you didn't give a 4X (Rubes Wink) what would he think then? Does he not understand pregnancy hormones. Right now if he dies you have two children and one on the that would freak anyone out.

beans37 · 17/10/2013 15:24

ooh ooh, my best feiend from NCT is in labour with her 3rd! her oldest is a DD and 5 days younger than DD1, 2nd is a boy and 9 days younger than DD2 and this one is a girl amd a month younger than DD3! TOO EXCITING!!!

Vagolajahooli · 17/10/2013 15:34

I am currently plowing my way through the last packet of chocolate buttons that I bought the boys back from the UK. I actually bought them back for DS1 to use as musical notes. The idea being that he could make some music, play it, then eat it! Worse still I actually opened the 5th pack half an hour ago...well 15 minutes ago to give DS2 a couple and bribe him with more later if he stops hassling DS1 while DS1's mate is here (he's a grumpy non sharing type of friend and is not nice to DS2 so it's best to keep DS2 sweet until he leaves). I finished off that packet and now opened another for the bribes but I'm almost though it. Bad mummy.

JamInMyWellies · 17/10/2013 15:45

Good job Vag. Grin

Beans so exciting.

Well I have today managed to confirm my status as the grumpiest pregnant person in the world. On my dog walk this morning and old lady lives in the village who I have been having the exact same conversation with for the last 5yrs saw me and asked the same questions she always does and I stalked past her with a curt good morning.

Then a grandma at school who has asked a million times when I am due said ooh your bump has dropped you due soon. Me politely no not yet through gritted teeth. Then carried on with well it must be in the next few wks. Me politely No not for a while yet. I turned around and started home for her to try and continue assessing my bump with her daughter about how I am wrong!!!!

Aaarggghh FFS am going into hibernation until this baby comes out. Otherwise I might actually explode.

Vagolajahooli · 17/10/2013 15:53

Jaysus if she'd seen me with DS2's bump she'd have sworn I was due at 20 weeks. He never went up he was always 'dropped'. Stupid old biddies. I'm sure park lady will be fine about it though as she sees you and knows that you are nice. As for grandma at school...get over it love you're wrong!

Mckayz · 17/10/2013 16:16

One of my friends had a baby girl overnight. 2 hour labour and her DH delivered it in the bath!!! He was on the phone to a mw and the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later. Her previous labours were 12 hours and 25 hours so they assumed it would be a long one again.

I'm so broody, need a lottery win first.

Rubena · 17/10/2013 16:34

Struth, you goin again Kayz!?
Jam you are not unreasonable even if you weren't clackered. Seriously I go mental if dh doesn't update me. He's good and rarely forgets, but if I was up duffed, I'd go postal.
