Is anyone else struggling like me? 2 under 2 baby 1 week old.

PurpleDana · 31/08/2013 15:41

Gosh I'm dreading growth spurt, dd already feeds every 2hrs or so, sometimes less!
Anyone else's lo got really dry skin? Looks like it's peeling, particularly around ankles & wrists. I massaged a bit of baby oil onto her ankles yesterday & she seemed to enjoy it :-) Which I'm really glad about cos I love the idea of baby massage & stuff :-)

islingtongirl · 31/08/2013 16:11

Yes dry skin here! Everywhere and getting worse, esp feet and hands but now back of neck and tummy too. Midwife told me try sunflower oil but don't have any, only johnsons stuff which I assume also fine (altho obvs not as 'natural').

Re going out - i get the anxiety thing. I thought I would be fine but even now we have started going for short walks I worry she will need feeding halfway through or cry all the way etc. I have an appt next friday at the clinic for her and already worrying about getting her out of the house and there on my own - even if I feed and change her beforehand she still screams when put in the stroller Confused

JollyHappyGiant · 31/08/2013 18:47

Have you tried a sling, islington? With DS ours was a lifesaver :)

FoofFighter · 31/08/2013 22:41

yy to dry peeling skin, it's like she's shedding her whole skin! it started as cracks at her ankles elbows and wrists and is just peeling off in huge sheets, despite daily oiling with grapeseed oil, never had anything like this with my other two...

Well the August bus has sailed and I'm still waiting.... 40+4 today and doubting he'll show anytime soon...

PurpleDana · 01/09/2013 13:10

Aww gonnab it won't be long tho.
I must admit, I wouldn't say I panic but I do feel a little anxious when out with baby on my own. Not sure why, I'm not scared of feeding her or her crying, and i even think how lovely it is just the 2 of us, but I do feel much more secure with hubby next to me.

JollyHappyGiant · 01/09/2013 14:52

We had our first proper outing today. R slept through lunch which was grand. And I fed her in public for the first time. She's 10 days old :)

RNJ3007 · 01/09/2013 14:55

Hi all.

I was due 30/08/13 but had my son in triage in 2 minutes on 15/08, he was 5lb13oz. At 12 days he was 6lb3oz. We have an appointment tomorrow as he appears to have reflux, but if we keep him upright, he's a very chilled baby, and a BF pro.

LouiseD29 · 01/09/2013 17:47

Dry skin here too! Have been massaging in a little grapeseed oil each day which is helping. Also, after ten days of bf'ing like clockwork, LO has now started getting bad reflux in the evenings - she has developed a special squawk which usually means she will throw up whatever she's eaten in the last few hours. Messy business! There's plenty going through the system though, so not too concerned although we will check with health visitor tomorrow.

FoofFighter · 01/09/2013 18:45

Yes Fooffighter... Scary stuff. Was 1cm at 0327, then on getting up said 'I feel like I need to push. Rechecked, nope, 1cm. Midwife left to get cocodamol (which I didn't want, haha). Went to get up again and delivered head. Locum registrar dove through curtain, swapped gloves and caught baby, who practically surfed out on the rest of the amniotic fluid.

Bad evening so far. Epic vom, lots of gulping, screaming and belching. Poor kid.

PurpleDana · 02/09/2013 15:46

Think my lo has oral thrush Sad . What's the advice / any of your experience re breastfeeding when baby has thrush?

FoofFighter · 02/09/2013 17:00

oh my gosh... I thought you'd typod! Seriously fast then!

PD - no personal experience of it but I think it's thrush that can be passed back and forth between you and make you very very very sore so you need to go to the GP and get both of you something asap.

We braved baby group today, was a bit boring with a tiddler obviously but got talking to another new mum so that may develop into coffee buddyship or something which would be good :)

Anyone getting smiles yet? I peeked at her over the side of the moses basket to be greeted with gorgeous wide open mouthed smiles :D 3 weeks old on Weds

RNJ - what an amazing story! And I thought my labour was quick.

Foof - can't wait for a smile! DD is giving little practice smiles when she's asleep, can't wait for the real thing, but she's not quite two weeks yet.

Woodifer · 02/09/2013 21:46

haddock yes me.

DD is 21 months, DS 10 days old.

Fortunately DH is still off work, and DD is still going childminder 3 days (which lucky enough to be able to afford for now).

Feel bizarre sending DD off when I'm home, but can't chase her too well recovering from episiotomy and forceps at the moment.

RNJ3007 · 03/09/2013 07:42

I know Louise, mad huh?

No typo fooffighter!

Purple My DD had it a few times - see GP. We had Daktarin gel for her mouth, canesten for her butt and my nipples. Was yuk, but it passed. You must treat yourself though, or you will pass it back and forth.

Snufflebabe · 03/09/2013 19:13

I have two as well. Dd1 is 3 next week and to be honest has been amazing since DD2 arrived. Its just finding the time and energy that vi an finding hard. If baby is awake for a feed at 5am and crashes out at 6am, I know that DD2 will be up within the hour. It is soooooo hard getting up with her when baby is still sleeping! I just want to turn over!

DD2 has put on weight, 5lbs more than her birth weight 2 weeks ago. She seems to be battling with wind though - we have lots of thrashing about, knees pulled up etc.

PurpleDana · 03/09/2013 20:12

Snuffle my dd is 11 days old & also struggling with wind I think, stiffening & thrashing with a very loud sudden cry. Let me know if u find a miracle cure! (I really don't want to be pumping medicine into her just yet)

PurpleDana · 03/09/2013 20:15

Oh and thanks rnj, seen midwife today & she has put in a prescription request for us. She says its only mild & checked my nipples which seem clear of it so far, but I will be treated too

FoofFighter · 03/09/2013 20:28

Another wind battler here so resorted to colief which is little drops of magic as far as I am concerned!

Gonnabmummy · 04/09/2013 07:43

41 weeks today not a twinge :(
Doubt ill ever join you guys Sad

Ditsy79 · 04/09/2013 09:37

gonnab Keeping my fingers crossed that baby arrives soon. Do they have any plans to induce you yet?
Am just about to leave the house to take DD to the clinic to get weighed. I think she will have gained, judging by the amount she's been feeding, but am interested to see how much.

islingtongirl · 04/09/2013 10:49

Gonnab - hang in there! My waters broke with no warning at all and straight into labour - seriously could happen at any time. I know its really hard but try and relax, distract yourself etc, come on here and chat to us if all else fails!

Ditsy - good luck at clinic, got my appt on Friday and also interested to see how much/if DD has gained, she has been a milk monster the past fee days!

PurpleDana · 04/09/2013 15:48

Midwife visited for last time yesterday, in future it will be health visitor, and dd's 2hourly feeds are definitely doing the business as she is 7lb 13oz @ 11 days, well over her birth weight of 7lb 11oz.
