Can sympathise with difficult / stressful feeds. DD gets half way through a bottle them gets extremely distressed - wriggling, crying, stiffness, quite inconsolable until she burps. All this even with infacol & gripe water Sad I'm gonna talk to doctor about it on Friday at her 8wk check, especially as when she is sick it is smelly, curdled, & seems to taste horrible for her / hurt her.
Sleeping in her own room is going ok. She fights going to sleep so we have to rock her to sleep & cautiously put her down anyway! But she isn't behaving any differently to when she was in our room, so pretty good.

CaveWoman13 · 23/10/2013 01:54

Anyone trying dummies to combat tummy distress? Hv suggested this a while ago. Was dead against one initially and so was dd but she took a closer to nature one today while having a very tired 5pm meltdown (she point blank refuses to nap, ever) and it seemed to help. She's not interested in one any other time and still looks at me gone out if I pop one in. Bit torn on using one really because I don't think it's fair to get her used to a dummy then confiscate it in a few months' time. Hmmm... While I think about it, I did a baby life saving course at my local children's centre the other day. It was free and used baby resuscitation dolls to allow us to practise the techniques. I hope I never have to use it, but the course was very good and informative. If there are any running near you I can deffo recommend doing it

PurpleDana · 24/10/2013 16:38

DD doesn't have a dummy but we have thought about it. I read a dummy can help with reflux & tummy issues cos it makes baby produce more saliva

PurpleDana · 26/10/2013 17:06

DD had her jabs yesterday Sad So horrific Sad
She is now grizzly & snotty. Poor thing.
She also had her 8wk check by gp. I tried to talk to him about my worries over her tummy troubles, but he just screwed his face up and said it was normal. Angry I know I could be over-concerned but I'm not a panicky mum. I mentioned it cos other mums have said DD seems to be the same as their child who has reflux / silent reflux / allergy / intolerance. But he made me feel stupid! Not what u need. He also screwed his face up & said 'yeah u can try them' when I mentioned I use infacol & gripe water. Infuriating!!

Bunnylion · 27/10/2013 22:10

cave my inlaws said the doctors told everyone to put their babies to sleep on their tummys 30 years ago - to stop then choking Confused

About the fussy feeds: Anyone read the Wonder Weeks book? They also have a very good app. It shows all the weeks where there's a jump in development, which alway coincide with being fussy, restless and clingy. Apparently there's one week 7-9 which will explain my little mans recent behaviour! Good to know it will pass. Next jump is week 12 so should settle down until then.

Hi can I join this thread?
My baby boy Sonny was born 31st august and is doing really well. He has a older brother who is 7 And sis who is 5. Anyone know if there is a thread where I can meet similar family's and do you ever meet up and socialise or keep it to the virtual side of things ?? Only just joined up today ( you prob guessed!! ) x

diamondsrforever · 30/10/2013 08:54

Hi jus wondering what all your babies r weighing, my lil man is 11weeks ebf and weighs 15lb 11oz, also on 98th centile for length! My chunky monkey Smile

Ditsy79 · 30/10/2013 15:06

Hi diamonds and Katy
I'm going to get DD weighed tomorrow - she is now 12 weeks.
Last got her weighed 3 weeks ago and she was 11lb 3oz. Health visitor said she hadn't put on enough weight, and said I should go every 2 weeks. Am breastfeeding her, so was a bit concerned - however I spoke to a midwife at the local bf support group who did DD's weight is fine, and there's no need to get her weighed every fortnight.
Anyone been for the second lot of jabs yet? We're going on Fri, hoping DD doesn't scream too much.

34PinkLadyApple · 05/11/2013 09:00

DD had her second lot of jabs friday. Screamed with both injections but soon settled with the stuff in the mouth one. Shes been a little unsettled over the weekend but could be coincidence. She must be having a growth spurt as shes struggling to go more than 3 hrs between feeds these last 2 days and only 4 at night. She was 8lb 5 two weeks ago 11 weeks but 7 prem) and shes already taking 5-6 ozs 6 times a day. Seems a lot but shes taking it and not throwing up..? Its really quiet on here... Is there another thread i have missed?

Ditsy79 · 05/11/2013 11:22

pinklady My DD also quite liked the Rotavirus syringe, latched onto it like it was a nipple! But she screamed at the other injections. No problems with her afterwards, except her nappies were a bit messier than normal (rotavirus?). Her weight last week was 12lb 1oz, so am quite pleased. Sounds like your DD is doing really well, especially as she was so prem.
Also wondering where everyone else has gone...

muppetthecow · 05/11/2013 11:24

How have I only just found this thread?! DS2 was born on the 19th of August and I've been idly wondering if there was an August thread

34PinkLadyApple · 05/11/2013 12:46

DD just had the health visitor and she weighs 10lb 3! 13 weeks tomorrow. Little pig. Ditto on the messy nappies Blush

BobaFetaCheese · 10/11/2013 21:30

Welcome muppet!

PinkLady, no idea why this one is so much more quiet than other boards. Hurrah for decent weight!

Ditsy, how did the jabs go?
We've got our second lot tomorrow, and I need to book a smear test, so everyone will be unhappy here Grin

Dana, how is your DD feeding now? DS2 sounds like he feeds the same, we're on the 3rd teat size (6m+) because he has such trouble feeding.
Had exactly the same with DS1 and he grew out of it by 4 months, when he was able to sit up straight.

Btw, I'm a nc-er. Was on the antenatal thread and dropped off here.
at everyone!

PurpleDana · 11/11/2013 10:11

Hi bobo dd has actually become a lot better with her feeds since I last posted, possibly because we use infacol religiously! Although I find it quite strange that she is spitting up smelly clear liquid Confused, I'm sure my ds didn't do that (although it was 18yrs ago!)
I've just moved up to size 2 teats as she seemed to be getting frustrated & chewing the teat during feeds.
Getting lots of smiles & coos and she has just started to be awake more in the day happily grabbing at her Lamaze dragonfly [happy]
How's everyone else and their babies doing?

Ditsy79 · 11/11/2013 10:35

purple we are also religiously using Infacol - not sure it does a lot, but we're scared to stop using it, if you see what I mean! DD also spits up some clear liquid although it doesn't seem to bother her.
Anyone else think their baby is teething? I know it seems early for it, but DD is now 14 weeks, constantly eating her fists/muslins/my fingers. And she is biting down, not sucking like she's hungry. She is also quite slobbery. If it is teething, she doesn't seem in any pain (yet!) - I was just wondering if anyone else's baby was doing the same.
Attempting our first little holiday this week - just feeding her before we set off. Only going to a cottage in this country, but thought it would be a nice break. Hoping madam behaves herself though :-)

PurpleDana · 11/11/2013 11:57

ditsy dd is 11wks and is constantly chewing and sucking her fists & anything she can get near her mouth! She also seems to be kinda chewing her tongue at times. I did wonder but don't think it's teething, I think it's more a developmental thing, just discovering new sensations & abilities, but I could be wrong!

PurpleDana · 11/11/2013 11:58

Oh and hope u have a lovely holiday :-)

34PinkLadyApple · 11/11/2013 16:19

My lo is also chewing fists, shoulders of clothes and bibs, drooling or bubble blowing really. OHs mum said he cut his first tooth at 14 weeks so i wonder if it runs in the fam and she IS teething? Doesn't seem painful so poss not. I have made preparations and ordered some ashton and parsons powder which i hear is good. What are your days like out of interest? Dd wakes at 7, feed, play, nap at 9. Feed at 10, nap, feed at 1, play, nap, feed at 3:45, poo Blush, nap, bath at 6, feed then bed by 7:30, top up feed 9:30, wakes for feed 2/2:30ish. Desperate for her to go through night! Anyone lucky enough?

PurpleDana · 11/11/2013 22:04

Yep, I'm the lucky one! DD is usually in bed by 11pm and up at 5.30am. She has just started to go 3hrs between feeds during the day, it used to be 2 1/2hrs. There was a 2am feed until a few weeks ago, then it started to drag out to 2.30, 3, 3.30, then she just started to skip it altogether :-)
My ds started to sleep through 12-6 at 3wks old. I know I'm incredibly lucky, and it isn't down to anything I've done, I've just gone with the flow & developed a routine around her natural habits.
So I'm lucky with the sleeping but had difficulties with breastfeeding, wind/reflux and thrush so it's balanced out! And her volume level is very high!

PurpleDana · 11/11/2013 22:09

Probably worth mentioning that she has been formula fed since 6wks old. When breastfeeding she was on pretty much constantly, hardly ever going more than 2hrs.

BobaFetaCheese · 11/11/2013 22:22

We're using Gripe water here, love the apple burps smell!
Hope DD continues to improve, and love her dragonfly more Dana.

PinkLady DS1 was teething at 5 weeks and he's never complained of teething ache (he's 23m & has all his teeth), most we ever got was a bit of dribble, so could be likely!

DS2 feeds at 9, 1, 6, 11pm and then usually sleeps through. He's been sleeping 4hrs+ from the word go, sleeping through from 3wks, as he's been formula fed since birth.
Makes such a change from DS1 who I struggled to breast feed, and who didn't sleep through until 7 months!

Ditsy, have a wonderful holiday, we did a week in a cottage in Sept, was lovely, think it's a fab holiday for young children as you've got all your home comforts and aren't worried about disturbing other guests with your brood...hope the weather improves for you.

MrsLianeB · 18/11/2013 16:09

Hi all, long time no post Blush !
My handsome little dude is 12 weeks today! yey made it so far without breaking him Grin
He has settled into his own little routine now he wakes at 4 for a feed then goes back to sleep till 7.30/8 has feed, washed and dressed little play then 20 winks wakes for a feed at 10.30 we then go out either to a play group, shopping or just visiting friends/family, feed at 2 sleep then play again feed at 5 bath at 7.30 pjs on play and bottle asleep at 8.30.
Then adult time for mum and dad.
Hes now on 7oz bottles and is due to be weighed this week he was 14lb 1oz 4 weeks ago and is 91st centile but is very long and sturdy rather than fat iyswim.
He has been chewing fists a lot too and ive invested in a Sophie giraffe which he loves - although he looks like hes snogging her sometimes Shock!
Hope everyone else is well x

PurpleDana · 18/11/2013 17:44

Hi lianne Your routine sounds very similar to my dd's, who is also 12wks, although she wakes at 5am rather than 4 and she won't be in bed til 10pm-ish. She has just started to go 3hrs between feeds instead of 2 1/2hrs, doesn't sound much but actually feels like a huge difference! Especially as moving up to a size 2 teat has helped her feed quicker.
Also like your little man, she is chewing her fists constantly and dribbling with it. I can't see any redness on her gums yet but I'm not ruling teething out.
Still having reflux-type issues :-( which is messy and heartbreaking to see her in pain with every sick-up, and she is constantly wearing a bib cos she will be sick anytime.
Anyone lucky enough to have a lo actually growing out of wind/sick/reflux yet?

cakebaby · 19/11/2013 10:36

Hi all, not posted here for ages! Ds is 12 wks today, doing just fine. He is also a dribbler now, chewing his hands, thumb, clothing on shoulder! We start bedtime routine at about 6 for a 7-ish bedtime but it takes up to an hr for him to nod off. He wakes for bf every 3 hrs at the moment, but it has been as little as every hour Shock during the day he goes anything from 90 mins to 3.5 hrs between feeds. Probably storing up future problems with the way we do things but to be honest I don't have the energy to do things any differently by the end of the day!

Ditsy79 · 19/11/2013 15:19

Hi all!
F is now 14 weeks old. We have a vague sort of routine: Bath, feed and bed about 9:30pm (want to bring it forward a bit), she then sometimes sleeps through til 6:30 or 7, but often wakes about 4 for a feed. she generally feeds every 2.5 to 3 hrs in the daytime, has a few short naps throughout the day (the longest is at about 3pm). The rest of the time she plays on her play mat/bouncy chair. I try to go out every day. We go to groups on wed, Thurs and Fri.
Until the past week or two, we had no routine whatsoever.
Constant fist-chewing, clothes/muslin sucking too cake.
Glad those first few weeks are over - it was such a shock to the system! Lovely to see her developing into a little person now and being able to interact with her more.
