Here we go again

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ive used kidstart I think its called, they put the money in your kids bank though :( I was on it one day when I ordered clothes from work with my allowance and it gave me £20 for litterally zero spends :-D except I had to tell work cos I didnt want to get in trouble! Still got to keep it though.

I dont bother with cat injections now, shes an indoor cat anyway so that saves. I do the dog though else the pet insurers will tell me to bog off

I would absolutely love to go japan! Soo jealous

Pascha · 31/08/2013 11:21

Mine are hunters though, if they caught FIV or cat flu from the local cat population at the farms the insurance wouldn't pay out. One of them has just had a big vet bill which the insurance covered so I'm not about to stop paying it for the sake of some bloody vaccinations which we should have kept up with. If they were indoor cats it might be easier I suppose.

The furthest I've travelled in the last 4 years is bloody Cumbria so anywhere not England is exotic to me Envy

We have crawling! Time to tidy up the house, I think?

Loving the idea of these cashback websites, must look into those.

8 month health check tomorrow. Really hoping we'll get some help with sleep, he just seems to be getting worse!

newbie6 · 01/09/2013 19:39

Hi all,

Cupcakes, yay on the crawling although I think I'm quite happy that my LO is still to suss that out as I wouldn't get any peace, hee hee!

Having said that though, my angel boy who was a great sleeper has started to roll onto his tummy at night, wakes himself up and can't figure out how to roll back so we are getting up through the night to put him back onto his back the wee monkey! Thankfully once he's back on his back he settles quickly but he clearly has a wee party in his sleep and ends up on his tummy!

The joys....

X

Pascha · 01/09/2013 19:59

"Hi. My name is Daniel and I have just learned how funny it is to piss mummy off by flipping onto my tummy every time she attempts to change my nappy!"

Hmm

Roll on standing so I can change him over to pullups.

OP posts:
Cejay8 · 01/09/2013 20:15

S still shows no interest in rolling or moving! I'm quite glad but should I be worried!? I can't remember what age DS was, but I'm sure it was before 7 months - I clearly remember the turning him back over in the night bit :) S seems to be eating so much and still drinking loads of milk - growth spurt? How's everyone else's daytime naps going? S seems to be surviving on 1.5hr a day - surely she needs more! (I do)

We're having a 'holiday from home' week - couldn't face travelling anywhere or packing for that matter; so we're doing days out from home. DS swam his first 5 metres unaided today - those weekly swimming lessons finally paid off! I felt so proud of him and pleased we were all together at the leisure centre to see it Grin

lollipoppi · 01/09/2013 21:34

"Hi Daniel, my name is Darcie, I do this too, I find it hilarious but it pisses mummy off! Wink "

have a lovely holiday from home, so much easier than packing the entire house into your car!

Defo need to buy a stair gate! DD has made it her mission to climb them! Oh and a fire guard!

Lostbobbles · 01/09/2013 22:22

"Hi Daniel and Darcie, my name is Lois and one of my favourite games is nappy gymnastics as well, oh and I also like to try and grab the new nappy and shove it in my mouth just to make it nice and slobbery!, think it posses my mummy off too, haha sucker"

Cejay - well done to your DS Smile and enjoy your holiday from home.

Apples re sickness you mentioned a few posts ago, Lois has started being sick after milk the last few days. Not bothering her but she hasn't been sick for ages.

Went to park fun day today with friend/kids then out for lunch after. DH is away working although finished early today and gas been having a jolly up since, sounded very merry pissed as a fart on the phone earlier.

School on Wednesday yippee let the countdown commence ....

Lostbobbles · 01/09/2013 22:24

*Posses!! Pisses ....

Meringue33 · 02/09/2013 10:55

Two nights in a row where he's been up every hour :O

I really hope this phase, whatever it is, ends soon.

Must be either teeth or developmental I think. He's getting ever more mobile tho still can't crawl forwards...

Angielka · 02/09/2013 13:13

Catching up on posts... life should be a bit slower now after the summer rush ha, as if life ever slows down.

DD1 started nursery today and bawled her eyes out when we left, although she'd been all excited beforehand and was loking forward to being a big girl at 'school' (it's attached to a primary and most kids here in Belgium start at her age, around 3). It was all I could do to stop myself scooping her up and running out with me. I know she'll have a great time though.

Oh meringue sorry about the crappy sleep. How old is he now? After our 4 month sleep regression I live in constant fear of the 8/9/10 month sleep regression that can apparently hit when they are figuring out all the movement stuff. Sounds like that could be what's bothering him. No advice, just Wine and Brew and Biscuit...

mrsbugsywugsy · 02/09/2013 16:02

angielka I am refusing to believe the 9 month sleep regression exists. The four month one nearly killed us and sleep still isn't as good as it was before it hit.

Bunty hope Cameron is OK

Apples what a twit Shock.

meringue sorry to hear sleep is still rubbish. Can you take DS into bed with you if he cries in the night?

DD still only goes to sleep if we push her backwards and forwards in her pram, apart from in the middle of the night when she will also sleep in our bed with us. I have tried putting her in the cot, or in the pram without rocking her, but she just screams herself silly, then she is overtired and won't sleep whatever I do Sad

I don't really mind her coming into bed with us in the night. She won't sleep in our bed alone; I can feed her to sleep lying next to her, but if she wakes up and we're not there then she cries and won't go back to sleep. So for naps and at bedtime I have to put her in the pram and rock her.

If she gets too big for the pram I guess she could just sleep strapped in the pushchair, but isn't it supposed to be better for them to sleep lying completely flat? Or is that just newborns?

DP and I have decided to take it in turns to have a lie in at the weekends. When DD wakes up, I bf her then one of us will get up with her and give her breakfast and the other one gets to stay in bed. We did it at the weekend and the lie in was lovely.

DD's favourite new trick is eating the baby wipes while I try to change her.

BuntyCollocks · 02/09/2013 20:22

"Hello Daniel, darcie, and lois, I'm Cameron and I also like to flip onto my tummy at nappy changing time! I also like to wake mummy up by screeching MAMAMAMABABABDADADA so she knows I'm standing up in my cot, and I especially enjoy gymnurstics, and seeing just what position I can contort myself into whilst hanging off a nipple!"

mrsb thank you - she's ... Cameron. Grin but quite whiney ATM.

angiel no. No no no. We never recovered from the 4 month sleep regression. Any other ones can go take a flying fuck to themselves.

AppleCrumples · 02/09/2013 20:49

'Hi my name is Ivy and i also enjoy escaping from nappy changes and like to wake mummy up when i am practicing my crawling and get stuck at 3am. It is also fun to cry if handed over to anyone who is not mummy which really pisses daddy off'

Ain't motherhood grand!? :)

mrsbugsy wish i could help but Ivy is the opposite and can spend ages in pram when tired but will only nod off for 5'mins. She sleeps fine when left to it in a cot so i shouldn't complain.

lost Ivy stopped doing the sick thing when i started dropping milj feeds i think i was over feeding her.

Meringue33 · 03/09/2013 03:30

Thanks Angie. I just want it to end :(

I always try putting him back in his cot a few times (he is find sleeping there first part of the night), then give up and co-sleep. Co-sleeping isn't working either now tho, last couple of nights he still woke screaming several times. Boob in mouth stopped it but I was bloody exhausted :(

Meringue33 · 03/09/2013 03:32

*find = fine

glorious · 03/09/2013 05:18

meringue we do the same, I just get too exhausted to get up and down all night. Things have never really recovered from the 4 month regression. She's just 7 months now Sad . But I'm sure it'll pass for you soon.

No nappy avoidance yet here, hope she's not listening to the tips!

octanegirl · 03/09/2013 09:25

Haha to all the nappy changing contortionists!

We just got back from a 3 day road trip from Inverness back down south - I was doing a review of a new BMW model and safe to say F's love affair with his car seat is well and truly over. After 3 days of being strapped into it for a few hours on end he was howling each time we put him in it - in the end DP sat in the back with him while I drove to try to entertain him. I think he was just really bored. Doesn't bode well for my solo drive to France next week though!
Plus he decided he hated baby food - as we were on the road I bought a load of Ella's kitchen pouches as home cooked food was impossible. He turned his nose up at each and every one....

BuntyCollocks · 03/09/2013 11:03

octane oh dear :(

DVD player

AnnMumsnet · 03/09/2013 11:38

hello ladies - sorry to butt in but I am looking for MNers to take part in an online group next week about weaning.
I'm specifically looking for first time parents with a baby aged 4-10 mnths who are starting to think about or wean onto solid food.
There's a prize draw for taking part. I can send you full details if you PM me Smile
thanks very much......

Pascha · 03/09/2013 11:44

Sad boo. Not a first time mum so can't help with the weaning thing. Might have been interesting.

We got through a long trip with DS1 at 6 months old by copious amounts of audiobooks - gruffalo, room on the broom etc. He loved it (thank god).

OP posts:
glorious · 03/09/2013 11:59

I've pm'd you AnnMumsnet Smile

Birdies · 03/09/2013 12:52

Not a first time mum either, though I feel like it sometimes....

We have babbling, hooray!! She is over 8 months old and until now its been only grunts and raspberries (not even cooing) and I was starting to worry a bit. So it's a very exciting day! She is going bababababababa. And we have lots of walking in her walker.

Am pleased :)

I can't keep up with all the news - bunty are you all clear of the pox now?

octane X hates Ella's kitchen stuff too. In fact she's not into any of the bought stuff, or my stuff! She will eat anything sweet, plus toast and weetabix. Oh well.

I've noticed X sleeps longer the more solid food I can get her to eat in the day. meringue have you tried feeding him as much as poss?!

BuntyCollocks · 03/09/2013 13:38

Also not first time - bah, would have been interested!

birdies we are! C is not herself, though. She is refusing food Shock

mrsbugsywugsy · 03/09/2013 15:14

I'm probably being dim, but how do I pm Ann?
