Wahey stunt that's brilliant news. A better night was had here too so maybe there was something in the air last night (rain?!)

For all those struggling with sleeping, i found a book called how to overcome insomnia the best solution. I don't know whether it would have passed anyway with time but i tried this in desperation and it worked, although horrible to implement at first:

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/reviews/1845290704/ref=mw_dp_cr

On a countdown here, DH starts his extended paternity leave thurs and i'm back on the 8th. Unless my union man shows he's worth my subscriptions and gets me bank holidays too.

Also a very belated comment re nappies. We use bambo here which are supposedly the more environmentally friendly ones. They aren't cheap but not horrifically expensive if bought with 20% off from www.ethicalsuperstore.com. They're running a sale at the min. I couldn't face tge washing with sicky babies of reusables.

vq didn't realise J was at the top of the weight for rear facing. I can't wait to swap F but am hanging on for a bit.

ValiumQueen · 30/07/2013 07:52

Jims our seat was from DD1 but had never been used in the car so had not experienced the changes on temperature as always stored in the house. It did not fit our old car at the time. The two seats I used for the girls were too old so were thrown away before J. I contacted Silver Cross who said it was safe, but the weight limit was 10kg not the usual 13 kg. I therefore felt he was safer in the ff than his infant seat. It has gone to the tip to ensure it is not used again.

ValiumQueen · 30/07/2013 07:53

He was 9 months and a couple of days when we swapped :-)

Bryzoan · 30/07/2013 08:03

Way to go stunt (little dance). May this be just the start...

Det - I think your feelings re those fb pics were perfectly natural. But you have your o now - and that is what matters. That and that you have done your absolute bloody best for him in pregnancy, planning your birth, managing your birth and now. And he is awesome. You have everything to rejoice in and feel proud of. A couple of pics round a pool are a fleeting snapshot. And as vq says - she didn't have a thread named after her and 60 sleepless quichettes cheering her on. You'd have needed a bloody big room to fit us round a birthing pool!

Evilwater · 30/07/2013 08:10

Morning all,
stunt great news! I'm so jelous Envy
pr that's horrible!!!! Shock Shock no wonder all the French people are skinny they cheat! Can you complain about the pharmacist? Wat a horrible lady.

Wll N woke up screaming again, you'd think I would get used to this. Same old reason coughing. Gave him some milk but he really didn't drink it. Confused how long do I give the gavision to take a good effect?

But he's so much better this morning, getting into trouble, exploring everything and is happy.
A confused Evil

BigPigLittlePig · 30/07/2013 08:15

Evil if he does have reflux, it will take a little while for the damage to heal. It is encouraging that he seems better already though.

Stunt and fatima - Grin well done J and M! Definitely something in the air, F managed 7-5, then self settled Shock and slep until I woke her at 7.15!

Evilwater · 30/07/2013 08:26

Thanks big
Yes I'm jelous! Envy
Evil

PetiteRaleuse · 30/07/2013 09:01

evil I don't think the pharmacist meant to offend, she was genuinely excited about a new arrival. I'm not sure tummy tucks are cheating either. I've never known anyone who has had one so I don't think they are offered all that easily. I don't want one anyway as I don't think my tum is too bad and to be honest I don't want any more painful surgery, I've had enough the last few years. Though I am considering breast reduction, but not for a few years.

Will see what physio can do anyway, but I will only be able to go if I am off work and the kids are in nursery, so we will see. The local physios are based in the spa town just over the border. Would be nice to have a session then to go in the spa pool - it's one of those hot outdoor geothermic thingies.

LO woke at 5 this morning but DH went, after much grumbling. I slept a couple of hours uninterupted anyway.

PurplePidjin · 30/07/2013 09:16

Sorry sorry sorry, rushed for time!

Went down at 7, twitched so gave 2nd boob at 7:30. Resettled at 10:30. 1st wake 1:15, he nearly went then yelled so i gave him teething gel at which point he decided to play for an hour Hmm dp got him down at 2:30 after calpol. Up at 5:30, kept giving me hope by dropping off for a couple of minutes.

Will catch up later xx

StuntNun · 30/07/2013 09:25

Don't be jealous Evil, that was the second time he's technically slept through the night (the first time was 11 until 6 I think) in 255 nights. I daren't even hope he'll do it again soon. Even if he does I think I'll need a year to catch up on my sleep. Maybe it was something to do with upping his ranitidine dose.

In even more brilliant news I have lost a stone! I only have another 2.5 pounds to lose to reach my pre-pregnancy weight. Hopefully I'll be able to achieve my target by the end of the school holidays as that's another four weeks.

I am so chuffed for you stunt! On both the sleeping and the weighloss front.

I am currently sitting in the car outside ikea. I am jiggling in my seat as I really need a wee but p is sleeping and I want to give her 10 mins more. Not sure my bladder will comply actually.

FatimaLovesBread · 30/07/2013 10:04

Well done littlepig too Smile

PetiteRaleuse · 30/07/2013 11:06

Brilliant news stunt

Just looked at my prescription. It's for xanax. Isn't that the middle class mum's drug of choice? Or was that in the 90s?

TheDetective · 30/07/2013 11:14

Thank you... you are all right. I've moped, and got over myself!

Oh bollocks someone awake. Will be back to post and whinge ffs!

TheDetective · 30/07/2013 11:24

Back. O now up from the shortest nap ever Hmm

Terrible, terrible night here. Lots of screaming (O) and shouting (DP) and hiding under a pillow (me).

Basically, he woke up an hour after we went to bed. I hadn't yet fallen asleep. I heard him roll out the toddle pod and hit the cot bars. DP got up to put him back, but he wouldn't go down. Multiple failed transfers, water and calpol later he went down. But just kept waking every 5-10 minutes.

DP was being a dick as he always is in the night, and kept waking up when the dog moved, a car went past, I shuffled in bed. But a screaming hysterical baby? No. That doesn't wake the fucking cunt him. Hmm Angry

Oh, and this morning O has ripped a piece of wallpaper off the wall. How do I know it was him? I found it in his mouth. It must have been in there quite a while as he'd been playing at my feet for 20 minutes and not ventured to the wall where he has ripped it from Hmm.

I've realised, I can not baby proof from O. :(

Clarella · 30/07/2013 11:27

checking inGrin

woo hoo stunt!! that's brilliant newsGrin Grin I'm so pleased for you!

I'm going to try hard not to moan about my every two hours. on the positive he slept 7-9 (been waking every 20 mins then) abeight on a comfy pillowHmm but I'm at the point where fuck sids guidelines if he'll sleep better on his head so be it!

blown up birthing ball and considering avoiding some night feeds this way (think this has helped you bplp?) only thing is that he's not really eating much food.

thing is I don't want to loose all the night feeds as when I'm at work I won't be able to express much and so want my supply to keep going at night. but it'd be nice for him to try to attempt some 3 hr stretches! also he's bloody swallowing air again no matter what I do so gets wind Angry

I however am feeling brighter I'm not completely convinced he has cp for example however I'm trying to decide if I should try antidepressants. I have avoided for years as seroxat fucked me over when all needed was a thyroid test but I know how vital it is for lo for me to be well for his health. and I'm not sure I am. and go back to work in 5 weeks. Hmm

FatimaLovesBread · 30/07/2013 12:31

M managed to eat a guinea pig food nugget this morning Hmm
She's now walking across the living room, backwards and forwards, shouting and screaming. Strange child Grin

Passmethecrisps · 30/07/2013 12:39

Just checking in from ikea Mumsnet HQ

No dime bar cake?! WTF is that about?

ChasingDaisy · 30/07/2013 12:59

Hola quiche,

Sorry, have been very tired and busy and unable to read or post. Will endeavour to catch up later during afternoon nap.

Just back from a tea and cake date with my old next door neighbour and her 10 month old. Was very lovely and the two boys adore each other. Lots of babbling, screeching and holding of hands. The boys that is. I try not to screech in public wherever possible. Took a bus in MK alone with O for the first time today so that's another box ticked.

In other news, I am now declaring Operation Cot Nap a success, 2 weeks to the day after we started. Yesterday all three naps were in cot, no transfer fails and 40mins, 1hr and 1hr20 respectively. Plus he slept 7-6 last night Smile

Need to go and make me and O lunch before he wakes from his nap but will catch up on quiche news this afternoon x x

Sophiathesnowfairy · 30/07/2013 13:21

That sounds like a good day chasing hope it has made you feel positive.

DH has tottered off to get his car transporter. He sees is as a big adventure. I am really worried about him. and the fact he is on the ferry as freight he gets a complementary cabin but he has to share with an unknown trucker he is due home any minute to load up.

ChasingDaisy · 30/07/2013 13:34

Thanks sophia it has put me in a good mood Smile. Oscar was a star despite being very tired.

Pikz · 30/07/2013 13:57

I can't baby proof against L either det. He's a nightmare now.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 30/07/2013 13:58

PurplePidjin · 30/07/2013 14:04
