Weetabix is not popular here, should I put sugar in it?

OP posts:
TheDetective · 05/08/2013 07:23

I always put fruit in Stunt. So a natural sugar of sorts?!

Blueberries went down well. So does banana. And apple and cinnamon. Most fruits tbh. Or yoghurt perhaps?

Another thing to try is warming it up, or if it is warm, giving it cool.

Passmethecrisps · 05/08/2013 07:38

P doesn't like weetabix either. In any form. She hates every brekkie offering but toast.

Passmethecrisps · 05/08/2013 07:39

What form was the soy in det?

Pikz · 05/08/2013 07:47

Stunt wetabix is only liked here made with fruit and formula. Otherwise is refused.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/08/2013 07:59

Morning all.

I am sick of flies. They seem so aggressive this year. They are landing everywhere, on us, the furniture, everywhere and I am havingnto stick my fingers in my ears and go la la la to stop myself thinking about the eggs they might be laying. Next door but one is a field of cows and I wish the flies would bugger off back there. I am sick of seeing them shag, and when you whisk them away they fly away still shagging. Lucky fuckers. Imagine being able to fly and shag at once. So I have one of those electric rackets and I do a massacre every few hours but still they come, and still they drive me just a little bit madder.

Sorry for the bad nights for some of you Brew . It wasn't too bad here. I don't understand why I feel so tired when I slept so well (thanks to the magic pill). I need to go back to the GP this week.

TheDetective · 05/08/2013 08:29

I thought we had flies bad PR at least ours don't seem to be shagging at least!!

I like to sleep naked though and I keep waking up convinced I can feel one on my arse crawling around!! (I sleep sort of face down!)

Pass bread first then a yoghurt.

TheDetective · 05/08/2013 08:44

O has not yet had a bottle. He seems quite happy. In fact he was quite happy before his breakfast too. Think I will give him the bottle just as he starts getting whingy for a nap. Which should be within the next half hour. :)

TheDetective · 05/08/2013 08:47

I need your spinach weaning recipes! Got 2 massive bags from Sainsbury's for 5p each yesterday! Gotta cook it today!

PetiteRaleuse · 05/08/2013 09:11

Spinach goes very well with salmon, or you can shove a handful into pretty much any casserole if you were wanting to batch cook and freeze something.

So Envy of the opportunities for cheap stuff over there

Elizadoesdolittle · 05/08/2013 09:18

Spinach & potato goes down well with E. it's an AK recipe.

Elizadoesdolittle · 05/08/2013 09:22

pr we have had a fly infestation here too. They're not shagging though! I've got one of those zappy fly squatters too. I fucking hate flies, absolutely hate them. Flies, wasps and daddy long legs are the worst things ever. Fact.

Jims · 05/08/2013 09:28

Birthday present idea:

www.mothercare.com/ELC-Lights-and-Sounds-Activity-Table/130928,default,pd.html

It's now back in stock and loved by all children (and adults) in our house. Think it's kind of like the ballapalooza (sp?) thing but maybe a bit smaller? And good to pull up and stand against.

Not caught up as been on night away from kids with my friends leaving dh in charge Smile saturday an yesterday was v manic too. Grumpy baby here this morning, don't know if teeth or realisation mummy went away or post virus grumpiness (he had v high temp last week for no apparent reason).

ValiumQueen · 05/08/2013 09:30

Thank you for the tea and toast Sophia. Went down a treat Smile

Having given all three kids breakfast in my non-galley kitchen, I cannot imagine spending the whole day in here. You are doing the right thing Detective.

We have a small electric thing that kills flies. Like they have in cafes. I prefer to target them individually. DH likes gadgets and sitting on his arse.

TheDetective · 05/08/2013 10:01

I'd love one of those kitchens that you can put a sofa in. But I still don't think I could cope with sitting in my kitchen all day Grin. I mean, the fucking dishes in the sink for one...!!

It's bad enough staring at my trashed living room! :(

I've got a list of possibles for presents for birthday/christmas. Thought I would share for ideas!

Bath toys, paints and large pieces of card, possibly an easel (I like the Ikea one at £16), a wooden trolley with blocks, and a wooden train set or other wooden toys, books, PJ's (staple present of course!), doll and pushchair, hoover, mega blocks, star links www.mothercare.com/ELC-Star-Links/135702,default,pd.html, pop up tent,
the ELC funky footprints mat, basic jigsaws (wooden ones are good!).

I know he won't play with lots of them at first, but there are things I would buy him before he is 2, so he may as well have them for birthday or christmas!

Many will be from eBay, especially the wooden toys, you can get good bundles on there.

TheDetective · 05/08/2013 10:02

Spinach and potato sounds good because I have those in...! so I will google the recipe!

Passmethecrisps · 05/08/2013 10:05

det I just steamed the spinach then froze it in cubes. I mix it in as and when. I haven't done recipes - p just gets random cubes mixed together!

PetiteRaleuse · 05/08/2013 10:16

Ha ha neither of mine will be getting anything remotely painty or dirt making for Christmas. They can do all that at nursery. I learned my lesson when I bought DD1 a kid's stamp and ink kit. There is enough mess in my house as it it. I honestly don't know what I would have done if the girls hadn't been given places at nursery. The idea of looking after them full time long term is just awful. One yes. Not both.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/08/2013 10:19
TheDetective · 05/08/2013 10:28

I only allow it in the garden! Grin

I would never let him loose with paint in the house! DS1 wasn't allowed, so O DEFINITELY isn't!!

TheDetective · 05/08/2013 10:29

O seems to prefer the stuff that I have cooked to recipe Confused, rather than my chucked together combos, which I think aren't that bad actually! But he definitely mmm mmm mmmmmm's more at the recipe based ones!

TheDetective · 05/08/2013 10:43

THAT FUCKING BASTARDING CUNTING DOG.

I now have a very awake O Hmm.

That's fucked up his day then. I swear that dog is out to get me.

Kyz · 05/08/2013 10:45

Morning all! Shit night compared to normal, am hoping its teeth cos if not I'm at a loss as to what caused it! Bed at 7, had to go in several times and get him from whatever corner he was stuck in till 7:45. He wasn't crying, just moaning really, was about to give calpol then he went to sleep. Was tossing and turning till about 10pm. I went to bed at 11, he woke at 12:30 wide awake sat up moaning and ramming his hands in his mouth. Put him back down with his dummy and nipped loo and he was virtually asleep when I got back so just left him. Awake crying at 3ish, dummy sorted it, awake at 5 really tired couldn't fall back asleep, chewing his dummy and hands, put him in with me, no joy so teething granules at 5:30. He went back to sleep 6-7 but that was it for me. I don't think it was hunger, he woke at 7:10 and took 6oz when offered 8, had to wait 20 mins for him to take the last 2. Sounds more like teeth doesn't it? Not starving hungry?

det I think either dp's mum needs to think about things and make the place safe for o, or he needs to go to a nursery or something. E would be terrible in such a place and he isn't a patch on o when it comes to moving/curiosity! Me and dp weren't getting on fab either until recently. 'twas the sex that was needed here!

Brew for the bad nights guys :(

Woohoo for the good ones though!!

I usually put fruit in weetabix stunt if he ever eats it, it must be sweet tasting!

I hate flies too pr they are fucking everywhere!!

Lots of good Christmas/birthday present ideas. Have been looking at the ELC footprint mat thingy, have got a ballapalooza already and think we'll be getting some wooden blocks/duplo type stuff. stunt those little people things look cool, dp wants to get e himself the marvel super hero ones!

I need to find a spinach recipe methinks, and try it. det e is the same, he prefers it when I've cooked something for him over chucked together things and prefers ek/plum pouches above all else :(

Qq, I like drinking milk and e has had a couple of sips, is that a no no in future? He seems to love cows milk as a drink if the aforementioned sips are anything to go by!

Pikz · 05/08/2013 10:57

Det the spinach sweet potato and chicken recipe went down well here.

No idea yet for 1st birthday. He seems to like curtains the most at the moment and cardboard boxes.

TheDetective · 05/08/2013 11:05

I've given O a little drink of the Oat milk kyz, but more in place of water because the bloody water was cut off Hmm. I think a couple of sips would be okay, as this is all O has of water. I wouldn't give it as a full feed obvs, but just to wash down a meal very occasionally.

He didn't take much, don't think he appreciated it Grin.

O is in a right old crabby mood thanks to that bastard dog. I could kill her, he was in a fab mood before his nap Hmm. FFS!
