I have worked in Care (people with SN) for 8 years and have a level 3 qualification on top of my degree and half a Masters. That makes me totally unemployable in the field as they want cheap 18yos not experienced professionals. If i go back to it I'll be lucky to get more than 50p over minimum wage. And people wonder why residents of care homes get abused.

I live in a flat on a main road. So no childminding.

And i still have to find child care. Looking after R is more stressful for dp than work - i can calm him with boob or by walking him in the sling. Dp needs help to get the sling on due to his left hand issues.

ValiumQueen · 01/08/2013 18:04

PP my husband found similar difficulties finding work as he has half a doctorate, masters and BA. He gets about 50p above minimum wage, but the tax credits help hugely and we would not get them if he did not work. I don't know what to think. How about starting a post on FB so we can be a bit more specific?

ValiumQueen · 01/08/2013 18:05

Sophia how are your sore bits today?

PetiteRaleuse · 01/08/2013 18:29

I've had more than enough of today. I'm all cried out. It started so well.

DH home soon.

Lily311 · 01/08/2013 18:45

pidj how about finding a job as a nanny? You could charge less and take baby with you. Many of my friends do this, 2 are on £26k a year in London although it's for 50 hours with 3 kids including her own ones. One earns the min wage but only works between 9-4.

chasing o is a non mover, she has no interest in doing any kind of movements. She is porky though, real chubster.

Hurra for medicine.

PurplePidjin · 01/08/2013 18:55

It's ok, I'm calm now. I live in the arse end of nowhere which doesn't help. I have quite a few mum friends who would be pretty chuffed to see me set up childminding, think id be oversubscribed with 1yos! I keep an eye on the local nanny agencies but it's all miles away or before/after school shitty hours Hmm

TheDetective · 01/08/2013 18:56

I have never thought such a thing about O Stunt honest.... Grin googled the fuck out of ADHD and all kinds of other behavioural issus about 2 months ago Blush

Anyway. I don't think he has any issues, I just panicked that he was just, I dunno, so stubborn, strong, and in to harming people me in a big way!! I cried to DP at the time that we had a naughty baby even though I was wailing there is no such thing as a naughty baby but maybe we invented one. Fucking hormones!

FWIW I have considered the cinema over the holidays. I took O at 4 weeks. But once he was active 4.5 months then I haven't wanted to go again. I just know what he will be like. Even the mum and baby ones the cinema runs (I was going to ask if I could take DS1 too next monday as they are showing Smurfs 2) I just can't see how he will be happy. At all.

Pidj (((((hugs and thoughts))))) I understand how worried you must be. I wish I had some useful suggestions.

Kyz Chill woman! Just chill! E is doing just fab, and you are too!

PR Cunting fucking knobcheese wank smears. That is all.

TheDetective · 01/08/2013 19:02

O must be a bit stupid! He hasn't learned anything from all his bumps and bruises... yet Confused. Damn child!

VQ How could I have missed it... FUCK YES!!! Please keep the fred updated on how J is with it. Keeping everything firmly crossed!

I have had DP's nephew for the day today. I'm fucking knackered. Hmm

3 boys... none of them listen, all day long, in boiling hot weather, out the house. I'm done in. If I repeated myself once, I repeated myself a thousand times!

We went to the park for a little while. O absolutely adored crawling in the grass (don't let him on ours in case of sneaky dog poo!). Adored it so much he was shoving fist fulls of grass, leaves and shit in his mouth Hmm. The amount I fished out was ridiculous. Even pulled out a full buttercup FFS.

I've got a rant, but I'll rant it later this evening. It's nothing that affects me. Just cuntish people you come across in life!

Hope everyone is well, and less sweaty than me!

Today, I am thankful for deodorant. Grin

Passmethecrisps · 01/08/2013 19:06

I tried going to see despicable me 2 at the cinema with P. I fancied it and it was full of kids so I figured it would be ok. I wasn't allowed to take the car seat in though and p was almost asleep. She lasted 45 minutes before I had to leave. I thought she did well under the circumstances.

Pupil support assistant PR? We have some wonderful PSAs who work one to one with individual pupils. They usually come with them from primary so become quite expert in the child. I have no idea what the starting salary is but I reckon it won't be high. However, within my authority lots and lots go on to get further training and take on other, better paid jobs.

Passmethecrisps · 01/08/2013 19:11

det p still does the same things over and over but if she does get a big bash on the head or falls over she is slightly more careful the next time.

Starving! Come on dinner! Am currently scoffing guacamole and crisps but it's not really filling the hole.

BigPigLittlePig · 01/08/2013 19:16

Evening all.

((Hugs)) to PR and Pidj - sorry you have both had wank days. Pidj is there anything you could do from home? Marking exam papers? Kleeneze/Avon catalogues? Not the biggest earners in the world, but it would be a bit of welcome extra perhaps?

VQ hope the omeprazole works, I really do.

Chasing F can't move. Apart from in her cot when she does her nightly 180 degree swivel Hmm

Two things.

  1. My landing smells of poo. Actual, human poo. I have had to go on a poo hunt, with no success, and I can still smell it. I am slightly concerned by this.
  1. Last night, as I nodded off in bed, I was woken by the cat biting my nipple. Fucking horrendous.
MadameGazelleIsMyMum · 01/08/2013 19:17

Hugs MM, PR, stunt pidj and anyone else in need.

donna saw you are updiffed, congrats!

kyz and pr thanks for missing me.

izzy if you are out there, hope all ok.

VQ that happened to us at hospital. Woman wonders over with her small walking baby. Asks how old my taller DS is. Practically fainted when I said 8mo (as was). They come in all shapes and sizes.

DS has really got moving these last couple of weeks. Can properly crawl but prefers his fish-flop, belly slide motion. But can now get from sitting to crawling and back again, and is very purposeful with movement. He's kneeling up too.

His fucking cough is still there. Yet another course of antibiotics and its still there. They have given us an inhaler but its mAking him hoarse and his throat sore, plus he is still v rattley and wheezy. Appetite ok and sleep ok but disturbed if that makes sense. Also have referral to the paeds. We will see. Poor little dude.

I have been working like a maniac. On the days DH doesn't work I have been at work until. Very late, coming home well after kids in bed. On nights when he does work, I've been at home to do bedtime but straight back to it after all asleep. Also worked at the weekend save for wedding attendance. Feel like haven't seen kids properly for ages. No real end in sight either. V stressful but am ok. DH has been fab.

Passmethecrisps · 01/08/2013 19:18

Shock BP pussy pig is insane.

Also, I now have this in my head:

We're going on a poo hunt
We're going to catch a big one
We're not scared!

MadameGazelleIsMyMum · 01/08/2013 19:52

Oh, and the car is fucked and DC won't go to sleep and I have a conference call in 10mins. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

TheDetective · 01/08/2013 19:58

I had a cat who would sneakily try and latch on to your nipple. The first time she did it I was filming her. You can just hear me going gerroffmanipple!!

Weirdo!

She would latch on to anything nipple like. Including a large mole on DP's side. Bahahahaha!!

PurplePidjin · 01/08/2013 19:59

Pass about £7 per hour, 20 hours a week, term time only. That was the year i spent watering the pub garden after work for cash just so i could put food on the table spent most of it drunk, too many mates wanting to buy me a beer after work oh, and yet again they want inexperienced unqualified people so they can pay lower down the scale - most jobs go to parents of dc already at the school Hmm

Just need to pray dp doesn't do himself in working too hard and that R sleeps through sooner rather than later Sad the two are pretty interwoven tbh.

Passmethecrisps · 01/08/2013 20:02

Boo! FC it all works out madam

Passmethecrisps · 01/08/2013 20:05

It's so fucking shit PP. You must get sick of 'helpful' suggestions.

PurplePidjin · 01/08/2013 20:09

Erm...

Wink

There's not a lot i haven't already thought of or tried tbh Blush

Passmethecrisps · 01/08/2013 20:25

Thought as much! Grin

No advice. I know fuck all about the situation you are in or how to make it better. I just wish it was better.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/08/2013 20:29

One of my cats still, at 5yo suckles clothes. It's cute until she starts kneading too. She was my pregnancy test too. Well before being able to poas she'd start sleeping on my tummy. All three pregnancies! With LO I couldn't believe it. Had to wait four days to poas.

Towards the end of the pregnancies and after the birth she'd try and suckle the boob too.

When the girls were newborns and they started crying she would run up to me and bite me. And when I had a missed miscarriage she became obsessed with trying to bite my tummy. That went on for two weeks til the 12w scan with no hb. I had thought she was feeling movement or something.

I have a friend who knew she was pregnant each time because her cat would come and pee on her tummy :o

BigPigLittlePig · 01/08/2013 20:33

Envy to cat pee!

Pidj I'm sure R will sort himself out at night. At least he no longer needs feeding overnight. The rest he will learn. The article I loosely based Fs sleep training on suggested that, after night 3, you should try to get them to sleep by leaving them in their cot, and patting them, shushing etc - depends how up to that you are feeling I guess. He'll get there!

Have just cleaned the house, am now bathing in my own sweat Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 01/08/2013 20:36

F should be asleep but I can quite clearly hear her blowing raspberries over the baby monitor Hmm

Passmethecrisps · 01/08/2013 20:41

tthhhhhhhrrrrrrrrppp

Kyz · 01/08/2013 20:42

Evening all,

It's been a bit better since he woke up from his nap, though tea time was hard. I always find myself stressing because he doesn't have a bottle with tea anymore so now I worry he won't get enough particularly when he's being fussy, like today.

Sorry if it seemed like I was suggesting I'm ungrateful that he's now mobile - I'm really not :( I just had a bit of a worry that I wasn't protecting him properly and keeping things as safe as I could whilst at the same time being concerned that I could go OTT and wrap him in cotton wool so to speak. I am hoping to get the balance right. I have read that there's little point in socket covers, is this true? Thanks for all the advice though, I shall get some cover corners for sharp corners. Thing is everything looks like a hazard/injury causing wotsit to me! What about chair legs? the edges of cabinets etc? Not the corner but the edging?

pr dp joked and told me he'd ordered one. I had a momentary explosion at him as I was furious! Luckily for him he wasn't being serious!

vq yaaay for getting omeprazole! Ouch for the bite/teefs though! E is still lacking on the teeth front, perhaps I should be a bit more grateful for that! People think E is older than he is too because of his size/length, but I reckon he's slowing down now, which is probably for the best.

stunt sounds like a less than brilliant cinema trip :(

chasing it's a very recent thing for E to be on the move

oh pr :( big hugs

pp wish i could help or make it better somehow

I have never considered taking E to the cinema. It would be madness I'm sure! I don't think he would last a full film tbh

det sounds like a nackering day. It has been really roasting today!

bplp I nearly choked reading your post. People poo. hmm. I remember when we were kids my sister did a poo behind the sofa at christmas. House full. Was BRILLIANT. She was only about 18 months I think, but it was priceless.

bless him madame hope he's right soon, poor mite. Glad your dh has been supportive when you've needed him, hope you get a bit of a break soon you sound mega busy!

I am tired, I cannot remember what else I wanted to say. Hopefully I have covered just about everything

oh oh oh except det dp got a ballapalooza today for E's birthday or xmas, not sure which yet. Thanks for pointing it out though :) I hope he likes it, it looks bloody awesome!

Also, he can bomb it across the carpet crawling but on the wooden floor he drags one leg behind him, is this normal? :S I thought maybe he doesn't feel as steady?
