Fruit hopefully LO will be fine on 4oz, but I prod J to ensure he is tanked up (mean mummy)

J has had his first chip today. He liked it Grin

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/07/2013 19:29

They are mepore dressings. Is that ok vq or should I do it tonight?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/07/2013 19:29

I have been calling them plasters so DS1 knows to keep away!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/07/2013 19:30

He thinks a plaster means complete disaster.

Passmethecrisps · 26/07/2013 19:45

Ha! Mummy is plastered!

P vommed most of her bedtime bottle. All over her, her sleeping bag, me and the chair. I gave her another 90ml which she took quite happily but I didn't want to overload her. Ah well. Thankfully she drank plenty the rest of the day.

I had questions. Erm.

Oh yep. What are the babies using in the bath for support?

And

What are crawling babies wearing on their feet to protect their wee toes?

Lily311 · 26/07/2013 19:56

Nothing here for bath support. She is very solid.
Not a crawler so can't help.

PurplePidjin · 26/07/2013 19:57

Pass he lies in an inch of water and goes mad splashing. £4 fake leather soft soled shoes from Asda.

ChasingDaisy · 26/07/2013 19:57

pass O is currently just using a small baby bath - I get soaked through splashing Hmm I have bought a baby bath seat type thing for when we move though. Cost £8 from John Lewis but can't remember the name. It is a blue circular contraption that he can use ad a seat. Sorry, that is spectacularly unhelpful Hmm

MsJupiterJones · 26/07/2013 20:00

Pass we use a bath sponge [[Safety 1st Baby Bather Sponge
amazon.co.uk/dp/B00556WLTM like this]], he sits on that and it stops him slipping - he's never liked leaning back so we don't use a support as such.

I thought no shoes for now as they use their toes and bare feet to help balance etc? We do have some little sandals and foot-socks just for cuteness though.

MsJupiterJones · 26/07/2013 20:01

Oops link fail...

like this?

ValiumQueen · 26/07/2013 20:11

Tomorrow then Sophia. I think rest is more important tonight, but with the usual disclaimers Wink

Pass J had his first go in the big bath yesterday and he is in the circular bath seat with the twiddly bits on the front. It has been used for all three and is fab.

YellowWellies · 26/07/2013 20:12

We use a bath seat its a bit like the plastic cage / seat on a baby swing at the park. He sits in and he can kick his legs, reach over the side and splash or play with his boats and it stops him slumping backwards or forwards. Because his legs are poked through leg holes out the front (like the IKEA high chair) he can't stand up in it. I think it was a tenner from Asda. Before this (before he could sit unsupported) he had a reclining bath rest / chair (which look a bit like a plastic sun lounger) but at about 5 months he was trying to slide off it and swim. They have both been brilliant especially if doing solo bath time and he's trying to water board himself. The one we use now is great as you have you're hands free and they're safe. It's like this: (can't do a link on the tablet) www.johnlewis.com/safety-1st-swivel-bath-seat-pastel/p415312?kpid=231915023&s_kenid=1bea8462-9482-c6a9-b2c4-0000003067d7&s_kwcid=ppc_pla&tmad=c&tmcampid=73

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/07/2013 20:13

O sits in an upright bath chair thingy as he goes in with DS1 but DS1 just used to flail about lying down in a little bit of water and he loved it.

vq have checked and changed dressings. Thought I better be on safe side, but all is nice and clean. It took me about 10 mins to get the first peel but once I had waded in it was ok.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/07/2013 20:14

In bed. Anti inflammatory taken. Night night all.

I am officially resting.

Xx

ChasingDaisy · 26/07/2013 20:17

Yep, the bath seat I was trying to describe is the one YW has linked to.

If I bought R one of these, could i keep him rear facing longer? He's 7.5ish kg at 8 months, so not going to be out of his 0+ for ages, but it's hard to get him in and out while leaving it strapped in. Bear in mind my exceptionally limited budget, please - no suggestions for lovely extra-specially superduper safe Maxi Cosis please Sad

Jims · 26/07/2013 20:27

F has a bath mat as he is solid at sitting. And we mostly spend bathtime trying to make him sit down after he pulls himself up. DS1 was far less trouble!

Nothing on his feet for crawling. I got a pair of pre-shoes with campervans on which were a complete waste of money to be frank as it's too hot and he'd fall over them when standing I think. Barefoot is best for them to learn balance. I used the 0-6 loads, which we were given as a present, to keep his socks on and thought they were v cute. He didn't have v many new things for him so I treated him me.

Am scouring house for things to ebay and may add them to the list... Unless anyone fancies them after my opinion above?!!

sophia all the best for your recovery. Bit jealous of bedrest!

Passmethecrisps · 26/07/2013 20:31

I don't see why not Pp. Looks fine to me.

Thanks for the bath recs. p has been using. Recliner seat in the big bath for a couple of months. In the last week or so she has got tearful at being reclined so now straddles the recliner seat if that makes sense. The only problem is that she keeps trying to pull herself up or reach round for toys. I am not sure if she would be just as well sitting. She is very sturdy so probably not an issue.

P has a couple of wee pairs of shoes - thanks for the ASDA tip pp. She normally wears socks but with it being warm I haven't bothered. Her wee toes look a bit red now though.

I shall buy a couple of pairs of soft shoes.

Jims · 26/07/2013 20:31

vq remembered your comment yesterday about forward facing car seat at 9 months. I thought you were v pro rear facing. Is it just because J is a big lad?

Am half keen to move F up as he looks horribly squished in his (no longer available as clearly rubbish) car seat but know rear facing is better...

Passmethecrisps · 26/07/2013 20:34

Those shoes look like the ones p has actually jims. Hers have pussies on. Obviously.

Passmethecrisps · 26/07/2013 20:35

With p being pocket sized we worked out that she is likely to be in her stage 0+ seat until about 15 months!

Pikz · 26/07/2013 20:36

Pass we have a padded bath mat and I think the same chair as vq and others.

L won't tolerate things on his feet but he does have little blisters from speed crawling!

Passmethecrisps · 26/07/2013 20:36

AND! P loves looking at herself in the wee mirror I have in the back. Kindly donated by vq. Might be worth thinking about if people have babies who don't like rear facing.

Jims · 26/07/2013 20:37

pass these?

www.preshoes.co.uk/girls-shoes/puss-cat-baby-shoes.html

StuntNun · 26/07/2013 20:44

Pidj anything that lets your baby stay rear facing as long as possible is ideal but you may find that there isn't room for the leggies. I'm going to keep J in his baby seat for as long as I can manage then switch him to a forward facing seat.

J sits in the bath with me hovering over him as he's not quite steady. There is a bath seat but it's in the loft. Confused

I have had fab news today that I passed both my exams (remember them?!) So I have completed my second degree at last. I started in 2005 so it has been a long hard slog, especially fitting in two babies in that time. I can't believe I have two degrees now! Maybe I'll be a bit more employable when I get back to work. I was thinking about retraining as a teacher but there don't seem to be a lot of vacancies in Northern Ireland.
