Sorry I've not posted after N's big day at nursery.
First setting in session he was a bit scared but was ok, he saw the toys and was happy. He bumped his head too, and was fine. He has a lovely key worker who I feel I can talk to easly, which is a relief. She's a mom too Grin.

Second session,
By the time I got to the nursery he was alseep, so I left him like that. He slept for a while and cried a little when he woke, which is normal for him. He then played with some sparkles, and they cleaned his ears (it has been on my list to do yes they were manky ). It was so nice to hear he was well behaved!!!

Today,
P left at 4 ish to pick up another 4x4. I had the whole place to my self and it felt awesome. p was strange yesterday, he said he didn't want me going over my friends house as she smokes. Crazy or what?

Off to read thread! So many pages.....

pr- glad your enjoying England again.
izzy - good luck with the cermoney
VQ sending you hugs, and Flowers

If I've missed anyone else I'm sorry. N has not repeated any crawling like movement today.

Fo sho YW! A small step but light at the end of a tunnel made of rice cakes.

Poor show about mayo. Boo. I so hope that bear sleeps soundly and thus allows his mum to eat as many Chinese meals as possible!

Good job little N! That must make you feel much better evil

On the note of child care. At baby sensory yesterday I was blathering to one of the mums who I really like. Suddenly she said "are you going with a childminder?" When I said yes she said that the childminder we have is her best pal and all the childminder buddies are very excited about this baby joining them all! There is a wee crowd of them who spend some time together and pool resources where appropriate and where the parents agree - it means school runs can be shared so sleeping babies can stay napping etc. this lady is part of this group and now has a baby one day older than p.

This made me really chuffed! I really like this lady. P knows her and knows her baby. And all the childminders are excited about a baby! Hooray

Evilwater · 22/06/2013 20:57

pass - yes it does. He goes back on Monday, for 2 hours and then properly on tues. eeekkkk I'm sure it will go well.

ChasingDaisy · 22/06/2013 20:57

pass that sounds absolutely lovely Smile You must feel much happier about leaving P with the childminder now.

TheDetective · 22/06/2013 21:23

Oh pass that made me smile so much! Sounds fabulous! I hope when the time comes, it will be similar for O :)

YW Fingers fucking crossed for you! You must update the thread - I have to know how he gets on!

Currently uploading a video of the 2nd crawl O did to our FB page :) It's so slow to load though...zzzzz!

Evil I'm glad to hear N likes nursery! I often think that maybe O would enjoy an hour or two at nursery, so I can read a book over the next month or two before I go back to work. However I can't really afford it so I'm thinking of asking DP's mum to have him once a week for 3 hours on one of DP's work days though, so that he gets used to being there. I've left him with her once. He's going to be going there soon enough, so I suppose I need to let him go there more.

I'm just a bit wary after the crap time we've had til recently. Also I'm not sure I trust her 100% with his food after I've seen her with her other grandson who is lactose intolerant (but I think that is SIL's fault as she doesn't seem to know what she is doing really). Confused I think I'll just send all O's food and just ask that she only gives him what I send, so that I know for now he's totally dairy free.

Speaking of that, when we saw the paed, she seemed to think that by now someone would have given him food with dairy in accidently - she said oh has granny not given him a chocolate button or anything yet, I was like, no, and no one gets the chance to either! Perhaps I'm a little too overprotective, as she seemed quite taken back by this. Oops!

ChasingDaisy · 22/06/2013 21:30

det my O has no dairy allergies but the only way anybody would be feeding him chocolate buttons is over my dead body Smile I am very protective of my boy. But that's my job. XP told me that XSIL fed her 7mth old birthday cake with icing the other day. My judgey pants got a good old airing.

BigPigLittlePig · 22/06/2013 21:40

I give F little bits of icing to nom on if I have cake

PetiteRaleuse · 22/06/2013 21:46

Note to self: don't tell quiche what the DDs were allowed to eat during their trip to England.

TheDetective · 22/06/2013 21:53

O had dairy free chocolate today Blush. I feel bad that his diet is very restricted. So I will allow a little suck on something that he can have - there isn't much is there YW?!.

I also realised after it had soy in. He hasn't reacted!

Soya yoghurts are a goer now? Yes? No?!

Oh, he wasn't fussed with the choc, had a wee suck, spat it back out, and nommed fruit instead. He sure does love fruit!

TheDetective · 22/06/2013 21:55

Icing is rank! Cake on the other hand.... caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake.

I miss you!

I've lost 18.5lb though and fuck that shit if I'm putting it back on!

Although the chicken stew 2 bowls of... has done a frigging good job of putting 3lb on the scales this evening. It put 5lb on last time, and took me all week to get it gone. I'm never having stew again. Confused

BigPigLittlePig · 22/06/2013 21:57

Bloody hell, well done on the weight loss det, v impressive indeed!

PetiteRaleuse · 22/06/2013 21:58

The annual huge fuck off firework display in Lux City has started. 30km away. My windows and shutters are closed. But I can still hear it.

This is the 6th in a row that I have missed. It's supposed to be amazing. How old should kids be before you take them to a huge fuck off firework display?

TheDetective · 22/06/2013 22:02

It's taken nearly 2 months BP. I put 24lb on in a similar time frame, so I wanted it to come off as quick! GRRRR!

Averaging 1-2lb a week off for the last 5 weeks... soooooo slow!

PR I dunno. Not a clue! I've taken DS from little. 18 months I think he was?

PetiteRaleuse · 22/06/2013 22:07

Last year there was a huge display the day after LO was born to celebrate the royal wedding. Shook the hospital. I pretended to myself it was to celebrate LO's arrival. I was in too much pain to get up and watch from the window, so watched it on tv. That was surreal watching a live event I could already hear.

The Burgers love their fireworks.

FatimaLovesBread · 22/06/2013 22:08

Thank you all for your replies and hugs last night, I think it did me good to have a moan!

luis though a good tip, I seemed to be too fed up for the breathing/counting last night, I did try but I was still awake when M woke for her next feed at 2:15am. I don't think the hot weather or DHs snoring helped though.
I eventually managed to fall asleep after the feed at about 2:45am, M then woke again at 5ish and wanted to play. Managed to feed her back to sleep after her nipping my boob to bits about 5:45am but then she slept until 8:30.

chasing I'm going to Oxford to meet up with some old uni friends. May stop off at Northampton services. But are you closer to MK now?

Thanks lily I think I will send her a message in a month or so just to say I'm still thinking of her. She's decided to do race for life in his memory so I want to sponsor her for that although I can't afford much at the moment.
The funeral was in the evening and 1.5hrs away but we couldn't go with Ms bedtime. They'd requested no black. So I sent a message to apologise for not attending, sending her my love and to say we thought of her and him and that I'd dressed M in her brightest babygrow for bed that night. Not much I know.

(((Hugs))) to clarella, VQ, stunt, GT and anyone else feeling poo.

I like the house mm wish I could afford that on my own. It doesn't look too small, it's probably not much smaller than ours.

Can't believe your DPs mum detective Angry Just pondering, did DP not fancy a full time job or is there a lack of jobs where you are? Then again, where isn't there a lack of jobs at the moment. He's still young isn't he? Does he has any career ambitions? I suppose it works well with childcare though and with you being full time.

Mmm soreen and mmm icing M had a bit of birthday cake at a party the other day

Glad N liked nursery evil

I managed to get some jobs done today!! Dropped DH at cricket at then M went to my sisters so I could go home and crack on. I managed to tidy up, do some washing, iron and photograph some clothes for eBay and finish designing a photobook for my mums birthday. So lots of things I've been struggling to fit in with M not napping or sleeping.
Left her for over three hours and she was fine with no me and no boob. And she fell asleep before 7:30 for the first time in a week! Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 22/06/2013 22:09

Lovely. I'll take them both next year then. Will watch from a distance. Hate crowds.

My office is right by the bridge where the display is held and in the days before they set everything up and test the sound equipment (the fireworks are accompanied by loud bad music.

FatimaLovesBread · 22/06/2013 22:10

PR could the LOs wear ear defenders? Like the ones M has for the motorbikes?

Dect Wow on the weight!

PetiteRaleuse · 22/06/2013 22:18

That would make sense Fatima

it's my village's annual medieval theme weekend next week . I hwasn't living here last year. I wonder if they do fireworks up at the castle like they did a few weeks ago.

TheDetective · 22/06/2013 22:24

Fatima When he finished A levels his mum made him get a job in between finishing and going to uni. He was having a gap year. So he got a job in the supermarket he works in now. They don't have many FT posts, if any. He was given 19.5 hours. He has always asked for more hours on his contract, and has always done overtime (until they stopped that last April!).

Anyway, he never went to uni. He decided he liked the tiny amounts of money.

Silly really.

He was supposed to go to uni Sept 09 after the gap year. But he didn't. Then he met me in Feb 10.

Anyway, he just seems happy with his lot really.

He did software development at A levels. He is good with all things computer.

He really should have gone to uni as his A levels are a waste now. He can't do anything with them unless he went to uni.

YellowWellies · 22/06/2013 22:26

Det I don't blame O I'd spit out dairy free chocolate - it mings. Stop worrying he's missing out on 'treat' foods - he doesn't need any - though the 'worst dairy free mum' prize goes to me for giving Jonas Besant and Drury ice cream (made from coconut milk), at 6 months. He was like a shark in a feeding frenzy! I use strawberries and soreen banana or apple and raisin as a pudding (not normal soreen that has milk in). Also 1-2 lb a week isn't slow weight loss - any faster and it won't stay off as your body will go into starvation 'hang onto the chubs we're in a famine' mode.

So far the soy infused bear is quite a bit more restless and hand flappy on the video monitor, but hasn't woken. So no clear reaction Smile Just as long as he's not in pain I'm happy. I think the test will be at the night feed..... as then there would definitely be soy in my milk. Fingers crossed....

PetiteRaleuse · 22/06/2013 22:26

Couldn't he do something with the OU? If he wants to that is.

TheDetective · 22/06/2013 22:27

It still annoys me that his work are such bastards over contracted hours. They just won't give anyone a FT post. Only a couple of supervisors have them.

Where he works is quite cushty though in terms of hours - as it is in the town centre, it is only open 8am-7pm mon-sat. So no late evenings/nights or sundays for anyone. No one ever leaves for that reason, so more hours hardly ever come up.

That's one of the reasons I'm also happy for DP to stay there even though he can't get more hours. It suits me better for him to have his set days, and no evening work really, due to my own hours.

And right now, FT doesn't make sense as it would cost us more than he would earn in childcare.

FatimaLovesBread · 22/06/2013 22:30

Maybe he could train in something somewhere down the line or do an OU degree? It is hard when everywhere asks for a degree, especially when it can be any degree any subject.
My sister got her job in the NHS and worked her way up and then did a degree alongside it a few years ago, now she'd need to do a degree before even doing the more basic roles in her department.

TheDetective · 22/06/2013 22:31

YW I guess I just feel mean because I don't intend to restrict anyone else in the household, so if this lasts to an older age where he sees his brother having something he can't have etc, then I will feel horrible.

I tried it - I thought it was okay! It was orange flavoured dark choc. Not terrible! But not like a mars bar or anything!!

PR I don't know, we've never really discussed it. He just seems content with his lot really. I just asked him about uni, he just said he just didn't fancy it in the end as he was happy with his job.
