Pass I don't bother with the hv anymore - I don't think her knowledge on the various ishoos we have had is great quiche is better and don't need the judgy pants stares. You are not shite, you are fabbo xx

GT get some rest if you can

Pikz · 11/06/2013 22:12

Fuck the rest of them pass, I don't see mine and haven't in weeks as they are shite.

Took 11oz milk to get small boy to sleep... That sounds like a massive 5am poo to me...

BigPigLittlePig · 11/06/2013 22:14

The joys of the tooth double-whammy have begun in chateau le-pig Sad C'mon calpol, work your magic.

TheDetective · 11/06/2013 22:16

I have stopped going to the HV too. He was weighed at his hospital appt, and we have another at end of June, so he can be weighed there too. See no need to go to clinic these days. Waste of time.

And yes, the knowledge we share here is far superior to anything I've been given by any health professional so far. :( but :) for the quiche!

My heart almost feels ready to go back to work if I had to right now. My head and my bits - not so. Shame!

Passmethecrisps · 11/06/2013 22:17

det I usually do the blow in face thing but I nearly bloody choked p the other day. She is really congested and couldn't breathe. Poor wee soul practically inhaled her calpol. She was hysterical as was I. I now hand p the syringe and she immediately sticks it in her gob. Tiny, tiny amounts at a time seem to go well. If all else fails pop some in a wee timer tippee and mix with a wee bit of milk. That is how I give the omeprazole and domperidone every morning.

Ok.

So. HV has never been awesome in my eyes. She does lots of smiling and nodding and "oh dear" if things aren't great. What she never does is offer anything useful. About 2 months ago she took P's weight and plotted it. I pointed out a significant dip. She just smiled so I spoke to GP who referred to paed yadda yadda. Today she is pointing at that same dip and saying "do you see the dip there? Well, we don't want any more dips. We don't want her to fall off this line!" Eh? I fucking know this. I WAS THE ONE WHO MENTIONED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Then she asked how weaning was going. I said slowly as p is very spoon reluctant. Her response? " well, I did tell you that babies with her condition can be like that". Again. WTF? I TOLD HER THIS! I TOLD HER THAT BABIES WITH REFLUX AND CMPI CAN BE SQUIRMY ABOUT SPOON FEEDING! She had never heard of the like. And anyway, what use is 'I told you so'? Then she said "but how are you getting protein into her?"

Sorry. All this sounds ridiculous now. I am struggling to get tone over. Can you imagine mild judgement and incredulity?

So, as you all know I have been pretty worried about weaning. So that is when I get the finger pointing at the graph and "you need to get calories in her!"

As if I don't know this. I spend all fucking day feeding. We lurch from one fucking meal to the next while the poor wee soul just wants left alone. I try spoon feeding every day. I offer a range of finger foods. She had no suggestions about what I can do differently.

And the eczema thing was just weird. I felt she was insinuating I wasn't doing anything about it. I said I creamed it at least 6 per day with epiderm, I keep P's
Nails trimmed and she wears not one but two scratch mits to bed. She said "well, you'll need to keep at it now because he [the paed] has seen it now so he will ask"

Silly now it's written down.

Pikz · 11/06/2013 22:21
TheDetective · 11/06/2013 22:23

Um, she sounds very stupid. And probably covering her own idiocy up.

Ignore, ignore, ignore. Or complain, then ignore. Or ask for a new HV - easy to do. And make sure you say why!

FatimaLovesBread · 11/06/2013 22:24

I is not fat Det He's tall and thin how can she say that. M is in between 50th and 25th for weight now but she has chubby little thighs, they're supposed to, they're babies.

Can I join the " chasing is free from the fuckwit" quiche party? I'll supply a cheese and pickled onion hedgehog, jam sandwiches and a 'pin the dick on the head' game.

pass Angry at the HV

Well done Izzy

Woop to ITNG bryz

TheDetective · 11/06/2013 22:25

O was funny with his food today. I made his porridge, and the apple and cinnamon from fresh. He refused it when DP offered it. I was like WAAAAAAAAAAAH inside. Turns out he just wanted me to feed him. WTF was that about?!

I wish O could talk, and tell me just what goes on in his mind. Hmm

TheDetective · 11/06/2013 22:26

I like Fatimas party! I'm right there! I'll even streak naked across the thread if someone can find a way I can have a big ole cream cake without any fucking calories in it!

FatimaLovesBread · 11/06/2013 22:30

pass your HV sounds a twat! Hmm to the eczema comment. As if it's something naughty or to be ashamed of that the consultant shouldn't know about Confused It's only fricking eczema, it's not like you can help it.
I'll send you my HV, she's fab

Passmethecrisps · 11/06/2013 22:34

You will know better than me det but is it likely someone had words with her after the referral to paed? She seemed very prickly. She mentioned that she had seen me in the clinic the week before and wanted to know what I was there for. Really?

Passmethecrisps · 11/06/2013 22:35

Thanks fatima! I'll share! But what a weird thing to say "he's seen it now so he'll ask"

TheDetective · 11/06/2013 22:35

It could be - I'm not sure how the communication systems work over that side of things, but the GP may well have complained that the HV just ignored things.

Passmethecrisps · 11/06/2013 22:36

Love 'pin the dick on the head'!

Elizadoesdolittle · 11/06/2013 22:39

pass I know exactly how you feel about the constant feeding. I feel like there isn't an hour in the day when I'm not shoving some form of food into E, be it by spoon, cup, boob or tube. By the end of it all she looks exhausted and then it's a quick break and time to start the procedure all over again.

chasing Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Good luck. I echo others sentimanets about O settling in. Whenever we have been away both E and DD1 have settled fine. It's not where he is, it's who he is with and he's with you so will be fine. Just stick to the bedtime routine is my only advice.

stunt Yay. You are fab.

Well E's tube actually came out 3 times today. Only went to hospital once though and as the plaster was still in place I managed to pop it back myself. Now she's eating, moving, teething etc it's impossible to keep her hands away from it. That aside had a nice afternoon in bluewater buying bits for holiday. DD1 actually let me look at clothes and enjoyed picking things for herself. Normally I'm not allowed anywhere near clothes shops, it's all about the toys. She's growing up!

FatimaLovesBread · 11/06/2013 22:42

That post before was meant to say "O isn't fat" det Grin
Could you eat a cream cake while on the loo? I wouldn't normally advise it but it might create a calories-weight continuum so it doesn't count Grin

TheDetective · 11/06/2013 22:46

I dunno, could work. I mean when you eat, it makes you wanna shit after, right?

Sorry. Hope no one is eating Grin.

TheDetective · 11/06/2013 22:46

I'd have to eat a dinner plate sized cake though Grin.

Bryzoan · 11/06/2013 22:48

Pass - have we got the same hv? I could visualise mine saying the same stuff exactly and whenever I have seen her she has always partitas what I've said - then looked at me as if I should go to prison and she should get a Nobel prize. Unbelievable. She probably meant "and he'll ask what the fuck the hv has been doing to help".

I am officially boycotting hv's until vq is mine.

Erm... Mr x mm? I missed that one. Big big hugs mm. I won't say hope all is ok because it probably isn't - but am sure you and m will be ok soon.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/06/2013 22:49

vq sorry DH being a twat, and sorry you're not coming down this wkd. You need a break but maybe not a wkd with ILs kind of break :)

chasing good luck for tomorrow. How exciting!

catbag and detective if we're meeting woukd be better next week once we've driven a bit more on this side of the road. Ok on motorway bur not for longer journeys than pootling round this area.

Erm. Knackered here. Dd1 having fab time. Lo doing v well except teeth.

BigPigLittlePig · 11/06/2013 22:55

What is all this nonsense about refluxers not liking spoons? Must have missed that before. I presumed F was screaming (through closed lips) at the spoon because of teeth. Although it has only been since she had bad reflux after the pepti jnr....

Bryzoan · 11/06/2013 22:56

That was meant to be she has always parroted back.

StuntNun · 11/06/2013 23:02

Luis was on last night Chasing, never fear!

I love to hear read you all saying writing flannels. They call them facecloths here. I'll never get used to it, or calling the airing cupboard a hot press.

GT please get your blood pressure taken tomorrow. My SIL had flashy lights and it was eclampsia, she had skipped the pre-eclampsia and gone straight into full blown eclampsia. It's probably nothing serious but it's such an easy check to get done.

PR I'm in Cornwall from 14th to the 21st- will you still be around after I get back?

Went to the local multiples club today, against my better judgement. Met an Alpha Mum, with triplets. She said "So, you've had six kids? Wow, that's amazing. How old are you, like 12?" Felt irrationally cross. Or maybe rationally. Can't decide.
