Haha willyou!

SpottyTeacakes · 17/06/2013 17:15

Grin They just rang to tell me they'd be ten minutes Hmm they're always like it it really annoys me. There will be a vague 'oh we might pop over' mentioned the week before and then they just expect that you'll be sat in waiting for them. This is the worst time of day for us, we're all tired and it's almost bedtime for the children and I'm trying to sort dinner whilst feeding ds and watching home and away and neighbours

My family always come at a convenient time pre arranged Wink

Barbeasty · 17/06/2013 17:16

I don't know. Naked Monday should hopefully guarantee you a day they don't call in future. Although if it doesn't you've created a day you'll have to make sure you're out!

SpottyTeacakes · 17/06/2013 17:26

Now his other brothers turned up unannounced!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 17/06/2013 18:36

I know I'm not supposed to judge people but I currently have a judgey pants wedgie. DP works with a man an woman who have just had a baby, she's nearly 12 weeks. They left her to sleep at her nans at 8 days and went on the piss. they don't take her anywhere as doing anything with a baby is a pain in the arse. Their first Father's Day was spent in the pub without the baby Sad. Today the mum has posted a status about how much the DD is enjoying food, particularly likes rusks apparently; who is she my DP's grandma? They honestly seem to want a doll to play with/feed/dress up when convenient and then shove in a drawer when they're done.

I'm only telling you lot so I don't tell her!

utopian99 · 17/06/2013 18:46

Poor baby! I feel for any child that becomes an accessory to be ignored when inconvenient..

Also feel for you, spotty, and definitely second naked Mondays Grin

Ds has a first tooth coming through, I can just see a little white line where it's emerging, but it caused a lot of upset last night. Today we are high on calpol and dentinox but sleeping for England! Is this normal?

SpottyTeacakes · 17/06/2013 19:42

WillYou I would be judging too! I have a friend who judge all the time try not to judge as she leaves her ds with her mum allllll the time at the weekends for no reason even when he had chicken pox because she wanted to sleep after one bad night Sad

Now I'm going to sound like an even worse person...for my birthday last year dp's brother and SIL got me a voucher for a local beauty place, I never used it as it's not really me and it's expired now. His parents got me the same for Christmas. His brother got me one for this birthday and his brother and SIL also got me one. Now I have £25 expired and £65 to use. I feel really bad but I don't want to use them! I will have to find something though I can't waste all that money...

WLmum · 17/06/2013 19:52

spotty my mil went through a stage when dd1 was born of turning up unannounced and letting herself in! It nearly killed me. She's still a bit key happy for my liking.
willyou definitely to be judged! Sadly I think accessory baby syndrome happens a lot.
spotty do you have a friend that likes beauty stuff that could buy them off you or to whom you could give them as a pressie. Have you tried asking the place if you can refund (not likely I guess) or at least put them on account? Place near me does that they don't expire. I love a good pedicure.

WLmum · 17/06/2013 19:53

We have a weaning winner - puréed parsnip went down a treat today - didn't spill a drop!

SpottyTeacakes · 17/06/2013 19:58

Oh ds loves parsnip and carrot.

Sadly not they have my name written on them! They can't even be used to buy products. I'm currently thinking either massage or facial or Botox Grin

PurplePidjin · 17/06/2013 20:08

R ate a weetabix with bm and pear for breakfast and was still hungry so dp scrambled him an egg, of which he ate about 1/4. We were out for lunch, he ate a 90g pouch, a 50g baby yoghurt then had a go at some cucumber and toastie crusts. For tea he ate chicken curry with basmati rice, then half a bowl of natural yoghurt with fresh mango.

He went straight down after his bath and 10 minutes of milk - last few nights have been 2 hour battles.

W. T. F?!?!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 17/06/2013 20:11

I hate beauty vouchers as a gift and my friends all love them. I'm 30 at the beginning of July so see some in my future. There's the pressure to book them in before they expire and the treatment is never as relaxing as you expect. I do like a pedicure though too WL.

J seems to like sweet potato and asparagus based on today's meals. Must try parsnip soon.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 17/06/2013 20:13

You've clearly cracked it Pidj Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 17/06/2013 20:28

Wow pidj sounds like a great day and even better bedtime Smile

I really don't like people touching me or looking at me or getting too close Blush so these things really aren't for me

WL how long would you try to settle T before thinking 'hmm she must be hungry?' Just trying to formulate a plan for ds....

PurplePidjin · 17/06/2013 20:40

The eating is pure luck - i gave birth to a Very Hungry Caterpidjlar Wink

Fx for some sleep, he's just coming out of a really bad phase...

MaMaPo · 17/06/2013 20:58

Envy at Pidj (by the way, hello! Feel like we haven't seen you in a while) I feel like I threw loads of stuff at C for dinner, most of which she disdained. Uninterested in broccoli and baby corn as finger food, ditto strawberry and apricot for a taste, and just ate her sweet potato and cinnamon puree. I've just stuck some pea+garlic and chicken+lettuce purees in the freezer - we shall see how she likes them.

She's had more sleep today than in months - about 3.5 hours of naps. I hope this translates into a better night than last night. At least her second tooth is through now.

PurplePidjin · 17/06/2013 21:27

Sorry, shit sleep culminated in me having nothing useful to say and i lost the thread for a few days!

Don't forget he's the second oldest, 7 months on Wednesday :)

WLmum · 17/06/2013 21:46

Great eating pidj. I think T is ready to up her portions but I'm trying to take to make sure she's still got room for plenty of milk.
spotty based on last night I have decided that Tabs is not actually really hungry at night. She fed at 12 then was up again at 1.30 and settled without a feed, then slept til 6. Surely if it was hunger waking her she would have woken again before 6. On top of that, she was happily playing in the morning and didn't seem in any hurry for a feed. I also know that when I decided enough was enough with dd2 who was 'feeding' 3x a night at 8 months, she was not at all interested in ebm from a sippy that she happily used during the day. Although it might sound a bit harsh, I also think that she'll soon learn to eat more in the day if necessary if I close the all night snack bar! Obviously if she keeps waking and won't settle and I think she's hungry tonight I will feed her - my plan would be to push it a bit later each night as she adjusts.
She's been up twice since bed, once with trapped wind and once for who knows why, but settled with a quick cuddle and pat. I really don't think it's hunger waking her.

How are you getting on with the ring sling? I had Tabs in mine today while dd2 was playing in the park and it was so lovely, and she had a lovely nap.

WLmum · 17/06/2013 22:55

Well that's the dream feed done, fx its the last of the night!

I've got a sore throat again - another reason I need to crack the nights. I know I get persistent sore throats when I'm run down. For my own health and therefore the overall well being of my family I need to start getting some decent sleep.

2blessed · 17/06/2013 23:31

Hope all DP/DHs had a great father's day yesterday.

Fantastic feeding pidj

WL I like the sound of those purees. I've been quite boring in what I've given DS so far - mashed sweet potato; potato and parsnip; broccoli and baby rice, You've inspired me Smile

In bed on the countdown to when Mister will wake up. He fell asleep at about 9 tonight. I know I should have come straight to bed but made DP's packed lunch and watched Banshee.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/06/2013 23:32

We're up for the first time! I'm liking the ring sling but still struggling to get it tight enough and the position perfect I just need more practice I think. I'm quite small too so seem to be pulling forever and it's still not completely tight!

2blessed · 17/06/2013 23:35

ooops sorry I meant Mama with the purees.
WL fx you can have some uninterrupted sleep now.

Have to apologise ladies, I think I fell asleep mid post a couple of nights ago. I remember waking up on my belly with the phone in my hand...

Blush
MaMaPo · 18/06/2013 03:01

2blessed, I can't take any credit for interesting purée - I bought the River Cottage Baby and Toddler cookbook and it's full of good stuff. I made leek and celeriac purée from it which she loves.

Second wake tonight, although the first was a df that I'd fallen asleep for. WL, good luck with restricting night feeds. I'd do the same bit C still drinks quite a bit at these feeds and I don't feel ready to cut them down or stop them. Uninterrupted sleep would be nice though....

halestone · 18/06/2013 03:55

H has woken for a bottle early and because its too bloody hot, stupid weather I have just fed her 6 oz and she rolled over and went to sleep or so i thought. I could hear her getting ratty so i popped the light back on and the little madam has only used the side of the cot to pull herself up into a sitting position. Cue me diving out of bed and grabbing her. Shes in our bed now till i get chance to lower her cot tomorrowConfused
