Jan 2013 Part 4: More noises, movements and more sleep?! Hmmmm

New thread!

I leave B during the night until he's making persistent noise - I don't usually wake up til then anyway! He's always wide awake; he's never done the dream feed thing. I tickle under his neck or blow gently on his face to keep him awake...

He's still in with us but will be going in his own room once his blackout blind arrives and we've given it a good Hoover. Probably in the next week or so.

B is still mostly in 0-3 clothes Shock. I've started putting him in 3-6 vests but his other things mostly look far too big on him still (he's 19weeks). Sainsburys stuff is bigger though, as is Asda.

Hubby has taken B out for a long walk so that I can get some of this marking done. Bailey seemed to think that 3 15min naps today was acceptable so he's been doing my head in and I've gotten absolutely nothing done. He's just point blank refused to sleep today.

Wow congratulations wu!. How exciting, they will hopefully be able to play with each other really well.

tugs she naps best on the move normally. Luckily my parents are also here so mum took her for a couple of hours and I caught up Smile . Hope the seaside is fun, great weather for it.

Good work on the crawling meringue!.

At least you won't have to pack or worry about non-sleeping bewildered babies pascha . But sorry you're not getting away.

Pascha · 11/07/2013 18:41

S'ok, we managed a long (wet, puke filled) weekend in the Peak District in May. What more can a girl ask for?

Lostbobbles · 11/07/2013 19:08

Congrats Wux wish you a good and healthy pregnancy.

I went to a music class today called 'little notes' they use real live instruments. Bit different but think more suited to older babies/toddlers.

Spent rest of the day shopping/ returning. Had to get DD1 shoes, fussy little madam nearly drove me into the asylum.

DD1 is off camping with DH this weekend, she's so excited about sleeping in a tent doesn't get it from me, that's for sure

Meringue yay on crawling, my DD1 was off at 5.5 months. DD2 is currently doing this commando style shunting forward action, mainly to getattack to packets of baby wipes if they are left within eyesight.

newbie6 · 11/07/2013 19:09

Hi all,

To whoever asked about when we put babies in there own room, I did it when he was 4 and a half months as he was just too big for the crib, (he likes to sleep in a star shape!). We have the angel movement sensor monitor otherwise I may have panicked with him not being in the same room as us! Good luck! X

happyhow · 11/07/2013 21:30

Congrats Wux! How exciting! I forgot my pill the other day so I might be joining you...

B will be going into his own room next weekend. We also have the angelcare monitor so glad it's good - we've only used the sound bit until now.

B's sleep has also been mental this week. I think it's the heat too. Last night he got fed every 3 hrs on the dot - I'm used to him usually only having one feed Hmm He's feeding normally through the day though - every 4hrs or so. Wondering if he's catching up on any dehydration through the night...

Thank you, all, for the well wishes! DP and I are very happy - I've been telling him that now I'm 35, if we're going to expand, it has to be within the next couple years - didn't expect it to happen so soon, though!

Bubs has been in his own room for only a week or so. He's taking quite long to settle in his cot, but once asleep, has a decent 6/7 hour block of sleep. We have a Summer monitor and very pleased with it.

Pascha · 12/07/2013 13:59

I'm at home with just Daniel, he's up in his cot, been asleep for an hour and I'm hoping for another but there are little squeaks and moans coming through the monitor. Nothing major yet, he might go back down, but I'm not all that hopeful. Teeth again I suspect.

I've just had 3 cups of strong black coffee, chilli prawn noodles and some chocolate so I'm fortified for the afternoon.

New pushchair has been shipped this afternoon so I should get it tomorrow. I'm so excited its ridiculous!

Lostbobbles · 12/07/2013 16:20

Pascha EnvyEnvy on pushchair.

DH and DD1 just gone off on their camping trip.

Pascha · 12/07/2013 16:30

Grin still have to pay for it! How are you getting along with the GT?

CreepyCrawly · 12/07/2013 19:26

We have a roller! Just watching her on the monitor and she's gone from her back to her front. She's stick at the top of the cot now. Little lunatic!

Angielka · 12/07/2013 20:29

Congrats wux! You're a braver lady than I! Once the hard work is done though, they should be the best of friends Wink

Thanks meringue having a lovely time! Congrats on the crawling Shock that's amazing.

Hope you have fun at the sea tugs the best thing we've discovered so far is digging a shallow hole in the sand, covering it with a towel and stricking Molly in it Grin. It's like a bumbo, but better because she doesn't try to escape, just settles down for a play with whatever we've left for her on the towel, and she can't fall over, which she usually does after a couple of seconds minutes sitting on a flat surface.

We've had both girls in the same room while we've been in France, and it's worked so much better than I imagined. DD1 stays fast asleep when Molly wakes for feeds in the night and she is now only waking twice usually, which compared to 6 times a night before is a major improvement.

Enjoy the new pushchair pascha!

Angielka · 12/07/2013 20:33

sticking not stricking... Confused

AppleCrumples · 12/07/2013 22:07

Congrats wux. My friend has the same age gap and they are so sweet together :)

meringue wow on the crawling. Bottom shuffling has stopped now Ivy can sit as she can reach what she wants and play now so slightly less frustrated! If anything is out of reach she directs a minion sibling to bring it!

pascha no hols for us either :( trying to plan local days out for school hols, only 1 week left..help! Confused

Dd1 a little better but has not gone to sleep earlier than 8.30. Bit worried its becoming a habit but no tantrums so things are improving. Am putting it down to hot light evenings.

In better news i got 3 glowing school reports today so am proud of them all esp dd1 who is 1 of the youngest in her year (will be 5 end of aug).

Lostbobbles · 12/07/2013 23:06

Apples fab news on school reports, my DD1 is an end of Aug birthday as well.

Pascha, GT went back as they sent me the wrong colour and I rather sensibly decided that my bee is better for now....... Enjoy the twofold

Angie, good to hear you are having good hols and sleep has improved.

DD1 is having a blast camping. I have been experiencing how the other half live at a friends house my house could fit in their utility room

Bunny222 · 12/07/2013 23:20

Hey all. Have been gone for a bit - hospital trips for both me & LO since my last post...

After a 3 week snuffly cold, B's breathing and wheezing got really erratic last weekend so took him to our little local hospital. Was expecting them just to put it down to a cold and send us home - but his oxygen levels turned out to be low and he was working really hard to breathe. Next minute we were in the ambulance to the big city hospital. Anyway - long story short we are now back home but stayed there with him as his levels kept dropping and heartrate was high :-( :-(
They think its a respiratory tract viral infection or bronchilitis. Should be over the worst of it now - just need to be sure he is feeding enough and breathing doesnt get worse. Theres no treatment for it tho! :-/ so glad I took him to be checked - had seen a GP and a paeditrician in the week before who both said he was fine?!

Hope ur poppets are all ok. Hated being in the hosp with him... Very scary. Glad to be home.

My tummy has continued to play up, have had a procedure to rule things out. Due to see consultant nextweek but could be IBS.

Sorry for the gloom this end!! :-(

Congrats wuxia!

lollipoppi · 13/07/2013 08:45

Aw bunny I'm so sorry that must have been awful for you all, hope B is feeling much better soon and good luck with you appt next week

DD is utterly miserable Hmm she is full of a really chesty cough and cold, the cough is making her vomit poor love, can you get any medicine at this age for a cough?

BuntyCollocks · 13/07/2013 16:09

wux congrats! I thought I was brave going for a second when DS was 14 months, you put me to shame!

bunny glad DS is on the mend, what a fright :(

lolli you can get cal cough which you can use from 3 months

Birdies · 13/07/2013 16:27

bunny how scary, glad you're home now.

Enjoy pushchair pascha. Not asking which one in case I'm tempted haha!

lolli have you been to doctors, maybe they can give you something? Must be horrid being poorly in this weather.

Oh the irony of this - been worrying about how to wean off swaddle, nothing seemed to be working. So went cold turkey last night thinking I wouldn't get any sleep. Well I hardly got any sleep at all - because I was lying there excited about the fact that X WAS sleeping! What a plonker!

Pascha · 13/07/2013 16:42

Micralite Twofold

lollipoppi · 13/07/2013 17:24

Grin Birdies!

It's turned into more of a barking cough today, she goes bright red and can't draw breath kind of cough Hmm
DP took ds1 out to the fair today so me and DD have stayed in and kept nice and cool
If no better tomorrow il get her checked in at the doctors

Wuxiapian · 13/07/2013 17:47

Sorry to hear about the poorly littlies. Hope they feel better soon.

Bubs is sleeping more today than usual. I think the heat is exhausting him. And me. And DP. And the dogs.

DP bought some garden furniture and parasol today and has just gone to get some BBQ materials for tonight, so more outdoor time for us. At least half the yard's in the shade now.

:) bunty I'll have to star lookin' at double buggys, I guess...

Meringue33 · 14/07/2013 09:42

Tbh it's more like Lost 's forward shunting, but it is impressive!

So glad you are home now Bunny, how scary. Lolli I hope your LO improves soon :(

Well done Nancy :)

Couple of questions on weaning:

Are whole breadsticks safe to give them?

And do you just keep feeding them til they've had enough? Breakfast this am was a big bowl of porridge which he finished quickly then yelled for more!

BuntyCollocks · 14/07/2013 09:44

I give dd full breadsticks. With regard to food, I will give her a full bowl, and that's it. She doesn't have an off button ATM at times!

Horrendous night. Every two hours. This heat is a killer, and it's not to get any better :/

happyhow · 14/07/2013 10:36

What a scare Bunny. Glad he's on the mend.

Lolli, I hope your wee one gets better soon too.

We left Ambleside yesterday morning at 25oC and arrived back in Aberdeen to 13oC. Ever so slightly depressing...

Meringue33 · 14/07/2013 10:56

Thanks Bunty :)

Just been reminded by another thread about the night we all ran out and bought Ewan Grin Seems like such a long time ago now!

DP is off to church with LO without me. This could be interesting :)
