Thought I'd take the liberty of starting a new thread since the last one filled. So mark your places, get comfy and prepare for a few sleepless nights!

In particular we think of Empress and little Sam - hoping and praying he's coming home! :)

Dare I say we had another good night! F slept 10 - 4 then 7am. She's still a bit snotty but good for me to get that little bit extra sleep! Only difficulty I'm having is remembering which boob I last fed off - twice I've fed of the same boob in a row now and ended up with the other huge and painful! Hmm

num3 lol at ur ds needing a poo, sounds just like my 5yo dd. Just about get to wee in peace in this house! Smile

tea Cornwall was lovely thanks! We packed the kitchen sink but luckily had fab weather all week and went on trips to the zoo, farm and beach lots. F slept most of it! Ha

num3onway · 17/06/2013 09:30

I tend to run for the toilet when they are eating lol

Pearpeachplum · 17/06/2013 10:27

Faith - enjoy your holiday

Trish - thankyou look fwd

Enjay - happens to me. Another thing keeping me awake if I don't empty my boobs.

Num3 - yes I had no idea when I was preggo that id be so reliant on my pelvic floor muscles postpartum.

Dysgu · 17/06/2013 11:04

Trish I am still waiting for Evan to sleeping longer than 4 hours at night between feeds Grin Hopefully he will get the idea soon. He is now up to 5oz at each feed and is finishing most feeds so I am thinking I might move him up to 6oz and see what happens. I know he is making progress as just a couple of weeks ago he was struggling to finish 4oz and was feeding every 2.5 - 3 hours.

Last night he had a bath with the DDs at 7pm and was settled in his basket by about 8pm after a bottle. He then fed again at 11pm, 2.30am and 6am. He was grumbling for a feed before the school run but actually waited until 10am.

Luckily DP is really really great at helping at night (unless you count the fact that he forgot to lift the seat when he went to the loo at 2.30am and then I sat on the wet seat!!! Cue middle of the night shower that ended up waking both girls.) At least Evan is now taking less than an hour to feed, wind and resettle overnight (and I settled the girls back to bed within 10 minutes but they did struggle to get up for school/pre-school tis morning).

num3 yes I know all about the challenge of even getting to the loo without at least one child attached! I tend to dash to the loo as soon as DP gets home from work so the girls are distracted by him. It used to be that I could grab a quick shower on the weekend by myself but now DD2 has decided she loves showers so she climbs in with me. On weekdays I have to wait until after the school run (and often don't manage to shower on the days DD2 is home until late at night!)

We are off to baby massage later today and I bought myself some sushi for lunch - so a good day!

Anyone else with pukey / refluxy babies have a problem with sore necks?
BabyCandy is sick so often her poor neck gets really wet and sore. It's so hard to keep her (hundreds of) neck folds dry and clean.
I feel like such a terrible Mum, it looks red raw in places. HV says 'its normal for sickly babies' and not to use anything on it.
Need some superduper absorbent turtle neck bibs!

Also had 12w jabs at 11, went into coffee shop next door to Drs and she ate for 5 mins and is now FAST asleep, exactly what happened after the last lot. She did scream the house down today though!

Big woos and yays to those getting more sleep!

ElliesWellies · 17/06/2013 15:04

So unable to keep up with this thread!

likecandy I put copious amounts of sudocrem on any random sore bits of skin on my two - has always worked for me, even if it looks odd for a while!

I have given up on going to the loo in private, DS always wants to come in and just bangs on the door and shouts, so would rather have him in the bathroom.

DD almost eleven weeks now, sleeps through at present, although I did my time with DS! DD very chilled out and a real pleasure, really starting to communicate now, will make talking noises to grab our attention, etc.

Mama1980 · 17/06/2013 15:09

I'm so sorry I just haven't had time to catch up, Alex is now refusing to sleep at all Grin

But I booked us all a trip to Disneyland this morning!!!! I figure we deserve a great holiday and alex has been given the all clear to fly. Has anyone else been?

LikeCandy · 17/06/2013 16:04

ellieswellies Thanks, I think I'm going to sudocrem her (or use lansinoh) tonight and see how it looks in the morning!

mama How exciting! I've never been but will definitely be taking DD when she's old enough to appreciate it!

SneezySnatcher · 17/06/2013 16:40

mama very jealous!

I'm starting couch to 5k tonight. I'm back at pre-preg weight but my lots of my old clothes look rubbish on me Sad so I'm hoping to tone up. A bit apprehensive as it's a while since I've been running and haven't done any since my section 9 weeks ago. It starts off slowly though so I'm hoping it'll be fine.

Popped into school last week and found out my job has changed. Since having DD I did PPA cover (afternoons only) which was great as it meant no planning, parents evening etc.

In September I'll be doing a job share with our deputy head. I'll have 'my own' class and have to plan, do reports/parents evenings/booster classes. It's Y6, which means lots of pressure at our school. I know it's because they value me and they know I'll do a good job, but it's lots more work and I'll have 2 DC to deal with too! All my plans of having free evenings seem to have disappeared Sad

Trishstar · 17/06/2013 16:53

Mama that sounds ace!!! Haven't been but I know you'll enjoy it xx

Pearpeachplum · 17/06/2013 17:42

Likecandy, DS is very refluxy / pukey. I have a massive stash of bibs, he gets through about 4-5 a day!! Neck is sore, red bits.

Sudocrem didn't work on him but I wash the area twice a day at least and use cetraben. Poor thing has had aggressive milia, dry / eczema patches, sore neck and bad cradle cap. Still not much improvement though.

LikeCandy · 17/06/2013 18:23

Hi pear your poor boy! we get thru a tonne of bibs and outfits each day too. I bought some of these bibs today to try. Ive put some lansinoh on her neck too to see if it helps.
She has such sensitive skin - we can't use baby wipes, only cotton wool and water. I don't think she has cradle cap but she does get a dry scalp. I had eczema as a kid, I'm sure she will too :(

brackengirl · 17/06/2013 19:22

sneezy I feel your pain, I already do a job share with our deputy head (Thurs and Fri) and have just found out that next year she is going into Year 6. I'm going back in April and could go into a difficult Yr 6 class just in time for SATS- yuk!

In other news I got my first proper big beaming smile today, have been seeing little ones but this was massive- made my heart melt!

Ann4New · 17/06/2013 19:26

Wow this thread moves fast!

Would Vaseline be any use for those sore necks? J doesn't have that problem but he has a bit of a recessed chin and in his first few weeks everything he ate dribbled round out and it was red and angry - Vaseline acted as a barrier and it cleared up.

Dramas here today (purely because I'm paranoid). I couldn't get a burp out of J on his overnight feeds, which unfortunately led to an almighty burp and his entire 6am feed being spewed up down my back. Then he threw up all his next feed. And had a reasonable puke at lunchtime. Then I put him down for a nap at lunchtime and he slept. And slept. And slept. He usually manages half an hour at most, so I went to wake him when he'd been down 2 and a quarter hours and it'd been over three hours since a feed. But he was super dopey, wouldn't feed, and just kept zonking out with his eyes lolling about. Cue panic and a call to nhs direct.

Of course he came round while I was talking to a nurse, and grinned like a loon at me. But I did enter full-on panic mode... I'm going to be useless if anything ever does happen to him!

SneezySnatcher · 17/06/2013 20:08

bracken we can cry together in SATs season! I do like Y6 (did 2xpm sessions for the last two years) but the extra responsibility of it being 'my' class, especially as H will only be 5 months old when I go back, really doesn't appeal! I also liked doing a range of year groups. Haven't been in KS1 recently and I miss it.

SneezySnatcher · 17/06/2013 20:40

Oh and I survived my first run! It was actually great and the podcast is very motivating. Looking forward to the next one (for now) Grin

ratbagcatbag · 17/06/2013 21:17

Like candy - I use those bibs, they're really good for Lucy with her reflux :)

Ann - Lucy fights sleep and usually manages 30 mins tops, last week she did three hours and only woke up because I prodded her lots Grin and she was not impressed, and kept doing the eye rolling thing and was very grumpy all evening. :)

ratbagcatbag · 17/06/2013 21:18

Well done sneezy, I tried c25k before pregnancy and got to week five, I don't think id manage week one though now.

Pearpeachplum · 17/06/2013 23:58

Thanks likecandy. I will try those plus Lanisoh.

Pearpeachplum · 18/06/2013 00:31

Sorry to post again.

Ann4new - rings a bell. Today's been pretty bad for DS. Excessive changes of clothes and bibs. I'm now holding him up against me while he sleeps until he stops gagging every now and then... Hubby mentioned Vaseline.

I got back from the gym at 9.30. Spinning has helped keep up the 1kg a week drop though still not back to pre-preg.

Teapig · 18/06/2013 05:42

Wow just had our best night so far, 9pm-4.30am. It feels so good! Although I did wake with one huge boob which I think must mean I fed unevenly yesterday as the other wasn't too bad.

mama, I haven't been to Disneyland but I know you'll have an amazing time.

faith, have a super holiday.

sneezy, well done on the run.

I had a horrible moment yesterday where I caught sight of myself in a mirror in TK Maxx and did a double take at the flabby tummy and dark circles under my eyes. Today I plan to go make-up shopping and start a healthier eating regime. I was 9st 11lb when weighed at 6 week check and I'd love to drop the 11lb but also don't want to diet while BF. I may join the local active mums group.

Hoping everyone had a good night.

Mama1980 · 18/06/2013 08:03

Great tea! Grin
Well done sneezy Grin
Ann, that sounds scary! I hate it when Alex goes all sleepy, it very rarely happens so that when he does I'm prodding him. Glad all is well x
Alex is lying gurgling under his baby gym thing with ds1 rolling balls at him (sponge ones I hasten to add Grin!) we are still in the feed every two hours routine. I'm lucky he isn't a sicky baby at all, but sometimes he takes so much milk it is just rolling out of his mouth. How are people's lil ones sleeping during the day? I'm finding Alex doesn't really want to sleep much at all, I'm running out of things to do!
The dr yesterday monitored Alex's eyes, but decided it was too soon to tell anything really, he seems to 'look' but he may just be responding to other things. The structure of his eyes looks good though apparently it's just wait and see. All the physio/exercises are working though his muscle tone yesterday was better than a average babies, so I can ease up on them now.
Development wise it so confusing he can almost roll and has great head control but the dr tells me it impossible to predict on what schedule he will develop, but they won't be concerned unless he is not sitting by a year (biological not corrected age)
We tried baby massage class but Alex hated it! He was 'that' baby that just howled the whole time and tried to wriggle away. I'm going to take him swimming tomorrow, think he will prefer something more active.
Apart from his little battle scars from the central line, cannula s etc you would never guess how sick he was Grin

I am seeing my consultant today...had a MRI last week so am hoping it showed progress, any kind of progress! On the plus side I have defined muscles on my arms now from dragged around my useless leg and wheeling myself.

KelleStar · 18/06/2013 08:19

Gosh! I am so far away from catching up... I was lurking and then had a few days iPhone free and can't remember where I was :)

W had a few bad nights of two hourly waking, I was sobbing and so was he. Was not fun. He had awful wind and his tummy was loudly groaning.

He usually does 10pm-4am-6am and then it's feeding on demand during the day. Last night he woke at 2am for a feed and then was loudly staring at 4am and woke us with his loud poo.

W dribbles lots too have been using the bibs that MIL made for DD, some are quite girly but thy are ever so soft and absorbent so saving lots of changes of clothes. Just using a sudocrem barrier and trying to let some fresh air get to it every now and then.

We are using Aldi nappies mainly, good absorbency and no leaks so far, but they do leave a bit of a waffle print on his bum cheeks :) I bought sainsburys which were good and had a stretchy waist at the back which stopped poo going straight up his back, like the tesco ones do. They are by far the worst we have tried. W has very runny poo's so will spill out if not well fitting.

mama I have only ever done Disneyland Paris. It is fab fun and it's worth checking the threads on the holidays part of MN as there is one with Disney tips.

He is now the same weight as DD at 4 months. 10lb 12oz, another 7oz and he will weigh the same as DD as 6 months. He is currently 7 weeks.

We are on a staycation this week. Have lots of local adventures with DD planned. Weston-Super-Mud today, Longleat on Friday and a few other little trips for park/picnic/swimming dependant on weather.

Wanted to see what you all thought of this though. We think W is getting chilly in the night, at his 4ish feed he feels fine and our room is about 16-18 degrees which is about right. He is in a 2tog gro bag. But he tends to wake 2 hours later feeling much chillier and will settle cosleeping with us until at least 8am. We did one night of entirely cosleeping, DH in spare room. We slept with a sheet and light blanket and he didn't wake for a feed until 6am after his 10pm feed and seemed warm all night. I don't really want to cosleep every night all night, but worry if he is waking because he is chilled rather than hungry. I worry about him overheating if I put more blankets or sheets on him in the crib. Any advice?

KelleStar · 18/06/2013 08:23

Oh toobreathless DD was a slow gainer and .4 centile with a half oz gain a week. When she started going through the night at 10 weeks her weight gain dropped her below centile. So we continued to wake her for a 2am feed until she hit the 11lb mark, which was 6 months. I felt that she then had a bit more weight behind her to last the night.

HadALittleFaithBaby · 18/06/2013 08:24

Morning all!

peach post as much as you like! Don't apologise! Are you on FB? There's a group there too - there's a link near the top of the thread.

Well done on the run sneezy! I did my first one Saturday, not as bad as I thought and my pelvic floor held up! I was overweight when I got pregnant so although I only gained a stone which I lost after giving birth but I'm still about 3 stone overweight! Eating loads but BF means I'm maintaining my weight but I'd like to lose hence the running. I'm also trying to follow Paul Mckenna's I can make you thin.
