Thought I'd take the liberty of starting a new thread since the last one filled. So mark your places, get comfy and prepare for a few sleepless nights!

In particular we think of Empress and little Sam - hoping and praying he's coming home! :)

Help! Just fed S but she has gone 10 hours overnight between feeds. Should I be worried? I'm freaking out, husband says not to worry. All week she has gone 7-8 hours but 10 seems too long?

She is FF, feeds 6 times a day on demand. She has been gaining fine.

Must catch up with all the posts, don't seem to have had time lately!

Happy Fathers Day! Are you spoiling your OH's?

HadALittleFaithBaby · 16/06/2013 06:10

photo I did exactly the same Friday! I asked on my local bf support FB page and ended up chatting with lactation consultant (obviously Faithlet is BF). She said it is a long time to go but as long as they get plenty of feeds on the day, plenty of wet/dirty nappies and seem ok in themselves not to worry too much. She suggested I get her weighed next week for peace of mind. How old is S? Faithlet is 9 weeks today and just settling and sleeping better.

Hi peach! The link about sleep is here. Really helpful to us.

S is 6 weeks. She has always been a good sleeper and seems happy and healthy but that seemed too long to me. DH likes his sleep and isn't about to start complaining! i will mention when we have our 6 week check tomorrow. If it continues will also take her to be weighed at the end of the week - thanks faith

Pearpeachplum · 16/06/2013 08:42

Many thanks Faith. That explains it. I've been fighting my Mil on this issue who sais I should keep DS awake during the day and not let him sleep arguing back that babies need their naps throughout the day. I think she just wants him awake so she can play with him. She plays with him like he's a dolly! DS obviously isn't getting enough sleep during the day.

usernamegoeshere · 16/06/2013 09:25

Welcome pear

photo baby user went 10 hours quite a few times, I was always terrified but was never a problem pretty much staying on her centile (give or take 6oz on various days!)

So anyone have special plans for Father's Day? I bought a card and he went night fishing last night as his treat.

Sleep wise we aren't doing too bad I think, we re-introduced a night feed which isn't great but I think she was pretending not to be hungry in the night to avoid bottle?? So now she is in cot on my side of bed she started being hungry again.

I love babbling!! She literally went to bed one night making occasional squeaks and woke up with a whole vocabulary of gobbledygook, including little screams when she gets excited and a gurgly shriek that I think is her laugh developing. But she can amuse herself a bit more now while I eat and stuff.

I might try do a workout DVD, getting the buggy up and down 2 flights of stairs helps but isn't enough!

HadALittleFaithBaby · 16/06/2013 09:42

To be fair, it wasn't me who linked it the first time but I've found it invaluable! Like just now, DH asked if I thought he was ok to take her out. I saw she'd been awake 1 1/2 hours and said actually yes, she'll probably nap if you take her out. She's sleeping better and longer at night in general.

Mind you last night she went 10-4, fine, then never really settled again, fussing at boob when offered. In the end I changed her bum and got the sheet and blanket for me (she was in her grobag) and co-slept for a while. She was fine until I moved my boob from her face so I had to sleep with it out! Confused

user I bought a few presents including a photo mug :) We're having a BBQ with my sister, BIL, nephew and my Dad at lunchtime. Hope the weather holds!

welcome pear and ann

user I love the talking, when she is on her playmat she babbles away to herself, and the best is in the morning when she's crying and I take her out her cot she gives me a big smile Grin

jo I just treated myself to a couple of new nursing bras, I feel like a different person Wink it's amazing how much better supported I am now I have bras that fit! I went to house of fraser for a fitting (only place I've ever been happy with the way I was fitted) but they didn't have my size in stock 32H (!!!!) so I ordered online from www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk they have really nice ones for very reasonable prices

LikeCandy · 16/06/2013 13:59

faith I have that issue to! I feel like I always have my boobs out. During the evening cluster feed when she feeds and dozes she will stir and relatch and go back to sleep but if I have to rifle around to get my boob out again she fully wakes up! Good job we don't have many visitors!
She's also started to hold onto my top/ bra during feeds and naps so I can't move!

user we have a 'Chatty Cathy' here too! (But she won't talk to / in front of strangers, same with smiling too but to a lesser extent.) I like trying to decipher what shes saying, at the moment, happy noises seem to be higher pitch and ending in 'ah' and sad noises lower and ending in 'guh'!

jo I got fitted at John Lewis for nursing bras. I was a 32 A/B pre-preg, C whilst preg and now DD. I am loving Elle McPherson bras for comfort and ease of clip/unclip, HotMilk for the impressive cleavage they give me, and I'm wearing M&P sleep bras at night (or if at home all day) as they're SO comfy/convenient! I am also desperate for new clothes, but shopping for them makes me grumpy as I just want my old clothes to fit again instead!!

HaveIGotPoosForYou · 16/06/2013 14:04

I am sorry about little lady.

She is sleeping ALL the time at the moment.
She's chewing everything, generally quite happy but not eating very much at each feeding (2 or 3oz when usually has 5 or 6oz).
Feeds on the breast but it's a bit more uncomfortable now, feels like she's trying to clamp on me.
She's sleeping a helluva lot and isn't eating that much at all it's making me pretty worried.
Does anyone know if this is normal (10 weeks)?

num3onway · 16/06/2013 15:12

Hello all!
Not been on for a while due to internet Probs and have just caught up on all your posts!
I have no idea who said what though lol.
Someone asked about pixifoto, I used them in 2010 and my whole package was 2500 or 3300 with frames! Shocking eh! I spent 250 in the end on 7 about a4 size and one bigger. I have since used max spielman and found There's to be much cheaper something like 30 quid for shoot pic and disk I think.
I think its much more cost effective to buy photos on disk or usb and print them online, eldest two had photos done at nursery I bought two pictures on a usb for I think 16 and had them printed onto a really quite large canvas online for 20. It would of cost much more to buy a large canvas for the photographers company.

With regards to dummies dd will only take tommee tippee cherry teats. She seemed to struggle to keep orthodontic teats in at all.

Dd is 10 weeks 5 days, she is ff and still feeds every three hours during the day, at night she is going between five and seven hours.

Due to be weighed later this week, I think about 12lb5. Have started buying 3-6 clothes now as think she will need them in a couple of weeks.

Nappy wise we have one pack of size 2 tesco new baby to use and two economy packs of size 3 baby dry. I have been using a baby dry at night too. Once the new baby are used up I will be using little angels or mamia during day and baby dry at night. Can't really jusitify baby dry all the time if the others suit her too at half the price.

I remember when I had my first baby, he had everything, all branded. Its a bit different when there are three of them and I have developed the thinking that nappies get shat on and go in the bin so I will buy the cheapest that suit her!

Sorry for waffling. Hope all are well x

Nishky · 16/06/2013 15:22

Thank you to hadalittlefaith and trishstar -I am going to purchase a voucher for pedicure and buy a thermos mug for dd's teacher

Thank you for sparing the time!

HadALittleFaithBaby · 16/06/2013 16:14

Glad to help! :)

Ah we just had a BBQ as planned - weather held! - and now DH has a bottle of EBM (defrosted some so there's plenty for later too) and I'm chilling out in the bedroom with a cuppa and some biscuits. Last night was one of those 'stirs at 4, never really settles' jobs so I feel like I've been awake since 4. So nice to rest! :)

num the pixi people keep trying to lure me in but I resist! I know what you mean about nappies - we have Pampers at the moment because they've been on offer and we have coupons but I don't see any difference between them, the Tesco and boots ones we've tried. Next I think I'm going to Aldi!

OP posts:
num3onway · 16/06/2013 17:58

I only had two pampers coupons this time round sure I had a lot more last time!

I used aldi with my ds2 although not until he was about two years old, so will just be getting one back to try with dd!

EssexWelsh · 16/06/2013 18:42

Marking place, catching up now as I feed....

EssexWelsh · 16/06/2013 18:58

Caught up...

Poos-as long as wet nappies and putting on weight should be fine but pop to a weigh in this week and speak to HV for piece of mind.

We had a fab day, first a swimming lesson, then went to Barleylands farm in Essex. Was lovely but can't wait til B is older as is fantastic for toddlers up. We even painted a mug with B's and print and super dad on, then carvery and home, needless to say B passed out in record time tonight, let's hope for a while!!

Trishstar · 16/06/2013 23:22

Hunter went 10.30pm til 7.30am between bottles (slept from 11.30pm) but what I found difficult today was spacing out his feeds so that he was hungry for them as previously we'd been feeding every 4-5 hours! I want to eventually get to feeding the last bottle at 8ish.

Do those who FF give different amounts during the day vs the last feed? He is generally taking 6oz at each feed and his last feed is hungry milk

num3onway · 17/06/2013 02:53

We had been doing well, going to sleep st 8 or 9 pm and waking up at 3.30 then 9.

However tonight it took til 11 to get her to sleep and she just woke at 2! She is now almost asleep again and I pray she stays like that until 8!

num3onway · 17/06/2013 02:56

We ff and offer 6 oz at each feed, sometimes she only takes 3 or 4. But she will not go more than three hours between feeds in the day time.

Teapig · 17/06/2013 04:18

enjay, she did wake at 5am yesterday as predicted but she has had a much better night tonight, 9pm-3.30am. So lovely not to have had the 1am feed. We didn't use a sling in London but probably would do next time. I'm envious of your trip to Cornwall, I bet that was lovely.

trish 10.30-7.30am sounds amazing, I cannot wait to get to that.

essex, that sounds a lovely day. I know what you mean about looking forward to the toddler stage when it comes to farms etc.

We had a lovely Fathers' Day with my parents, sis, BIL and niece round to us for lunch. Poor DH ended up having to do quite a bit of cooking so I owe him a very relaxing day off tomorrow.

Trishstar · 17/06/2013 07:46

Tea it really surprised me when he first went 10-6, I kept checking he was ok!!! It is nice to get some sleep back, but I end up staying up til at least midnight to spend time with hubby xx

Pearpeachplum · 17/06/2013 07:54

Thanx for all the welcome messages. I'm new to mumsnet and a new mum. Never been on chat forums. This thread is a godsend!

Good nights sleep - hurrah!! Midnight to 6am, no night feed. He slept well during the day. had a major fussy period from 6 pm, on and off breast. Has had his morning feed and back off to sleep. Off for my first morning shower to start the day at last... Tea, Trish can't wait for a straight 9 hour session.

I use pampers - new mum so no idea about what nappies are good. His poos are a bit watery so at times the nappy leaks. Is that normal?

DH first Father's Day, made lovely dinner (with cocktails) card and fun time with DS.

Now for that uninterrupted shower....SmileSmileSmile

num3onway · 17/06/2013 08:19

Uninterupted anyrhings are a thing of the past in this house. I'm a bath girl and unless I bath after 9 or 10 pm I am always interupted. Usually by ds1 who wants a poo. He is five and tbh I think he just wants to come in to talk lol.

So dd slept 11-2 and 3-7. Not the best.

HadALittleFaithBaby · 17/06/2013 08:54

I had a shower and washed my hair after Faithlet went down last night - proper long with chance to condition my hair and shave! Bliss! We're off on a mini holiday today - only a hot away to the coast in a caravan. Going with my Dad, sister and nephew Monday-Friday. Bit nervous about going away and packing the kitchen sink but it'll be fine!

We had another night of settling about 9, feeding at 4, groaning til 6.30! Ah well, if I can get her off the boob (where she's half sucking/half snoozing!) I can finish packing!

Trishstar · 17/06/2013 09:20

Pear it'll happen for you soon, only a couple weeks ago we were feeding at midnight and then 5am xx
