Thought I'd take the liberty of starting a new thread since the last one filled. So mark your places, get comfy and prepare for a few sleepless nights!

In particular we think of Empress and little Sam - hoping and praying he's coming home! :)

I have a black tie wedding in a few weeks. Hoping to express enough to leave baby bird with my in-laws for the night but incase I end up taking her with (or my mil bringing her to the hotel in the middle so I can feed her) I need to get a dress that I will be able to open one side easily to feed. Anything I've seen is too expensive or has buttons down the back so really impractical...any nice ideas?!

SneezySnatcher · 10/06/2013 22:25

Not expecting much sleep tonight Sad

Usually H is asleep by seven and sleeps for at least 4 hours.

He's had his first set of jabs today and has barely napped all day. Ended up doing bath and bed by six and he's been up a dozen times already. He keeps crying out and waking.

Must get the coffee maker set up!

Trishstar · 10/06/2013 22:41

We have used Asda, Aldi and Tesco nappies, all have been equally good tbh!

LikeCandy · 10/06/2013 22:43

bird I secretly want an excuse to buy a fancy dress, I like the Kate dress and the drape dresses I guess any wrap dress (I like this one) would work just as well as a nursing specific dress?

ruddy what type of pampers? The ones with the netty bit in gave DD a terribly sore bum, but now she's in the overnight version (dry) she can go 4hrs. We use reusables during the day, and get thru 3 disposables overnight. The 248 sz3 pampers for £20 in asda (a gift!) will last us a while!
Also tried lidls nappies but they start at sz3 and they are big.

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 10/06/2013 22:50

Thanks toobreathless , I didn't give any with ds1 but had heard of people giving in advance. From my experience its the first vaccination they have that they might suffer with slightly in terms of tempo, grumpiness etc.

Just wish he would go to sleep now Angry

toobreathless · 10/06/2013 23:16

We have had a mixed day. Good because we went to DD1s music class and danced around like loonies which she enjoyed :) C slept through the entire thing! We also had a good night with her sleeping from 1130 till 0830, this was preceded by 3 hours of extreme grumpiness & constant feeding from about 8pm though.

We went to messy play at our local sure start with the plan to get C weighed afterwards (as per GP) to find that the session doesn't run there anymore, the HV gave me a sheet with old times on it Angry so we had to traise over to the nearby surgery to a packed clinic. It is driving me batty as frankly they all seen to be packed full of people who really don't need to be there. I really don't want to be there every 2 weeks with a toddler in tow but don't have any choice.

Anyway C is now 9 weeks and 9 lb 0 & about to cross her fourth centile (3rd since 2 weeks) so we need Paeds referral. She is gaining weight, just not enough to maintain along her centile. HV was not helpful. Just suggested not letting her sleep for more than 3-4 hours overnight without a feed. For my sanity I'm going up carry on feeding on demand. She is a very pukey baby ('happy chucker') & her sister had Cows Milk allergy so my bets would be on either reflux or that. I don't think it's a feeding problem, plenty of milk/wet/dirty nappies/seems very content after each feed etc.

Apologies for the me, me, me post.

LikeCandy · 10/06/2013 23:25

Toobreathless - sorry you've had such a rough day, I hope your referral comes through quickly!

Ok April ladies - I've got to ask as I'm lying awake...
am I the only one not to have DTD yet??
Baby is 11w and I had an EMCS so no tears/stitches to worry about.
I'm just feeling a bit odd about it.
Meh
Blush

EssexWelsh · 11/06/2013 00:22

Me neither candy, we have discusses it and joked it'll be like first time, as will be planned to some extent with baby there, he'll need to be plonked somewhere, just don't quite know when we are meant to do it. Sleep is disjointed enough without that also interrupting it as well. Thinking weekend, but we've had my parents stay almost every week then last weekend my DP went away for the night, so it's just dragging on...

DP and I are very loving and have lots kisses and cuddles and I keep asking for reassurances we haven't just become housemates! Of course I worry we should both want it more but think it's just a phase and it will right itself once we get ourselves more into a routine where I get to sleep more!Smile

itsaruddygame · 11/06/2013 03:33

Thanks bird and Trish re: the nappies will also road test the adsda ones!

Candy - it is the netting that irritates him. When he was really small he wore pampers micro and they had no netting and were fine. I tried Vaseline and barrier cream but to no avail. Is there a version without netting?

We have not dtd yet - I don't get wn

We have not dtd yet - I don't get enough sleep to spend any spare moments doing anything other than sleeping plus I had a lot of stitches so am not exactly raring to go - lol! We have been married for 14 years this year so tbf we are not the most prolific shaggers even when there was no baby on the scene - haha!!

Breathless - hope all goes well with your referral. What a shame .... Fingers crossed things will get sorted quickly for you.

ratbagcatbag · 11/06/2013 03:50

Here like clockwork (although ill take from 9pm through to 3am).

My hv mentioned the books and said needed to get them online, however popped to library today and they handed the over in a lovely purple reading book bag. It's just really nice. :)

How awake are your babies during night feeds, Lucy's cues wake me up so she never cries, by the time I've grabbed it and given it to her to start, it's like a dream feed, she very rarely wakes up.

KelleStar · 11/06/2013 04:07

DD woke us early at 3, shouting Happy Birthday! DH had been coaching her before bed to wake up and shout it in the morning. It was obviously on her mind as she shouted it in her sleep! Wilf woke then for his feed, did a loud squelchy poo which I left while I went for a pee after his feed and then cleaned him. He hadn't finished. Thankfully I had put a folded muslin under him, poo went mostly in the nappy but yuck. Then he did a big wee and got soaked, then another poo. In the space of 5 minutes we went through five nappies. He is now gurning milkily at me. Yucky sod!

ratbagcatbag · 11/06/2013 04:29

Oh dear Kelle, I did chuckle though, they do make a mess sometimes don't they? :)

EssexWelsh · 11/06/2013 04:35

Ha ha-I'm yet to have that Kelle, but saw a friend's LO do it, we were crying laughing, baby just lay there with her poker face on, with her bum like a mr whippy machine!

Trishstar · 11/06/2013 06:17

He went 10.10pm-5.30!! Can't believe it! When that has settled I need to start making the 10pm feed earlier!

HadALittleFaithBaby · 11/06/2013 06:18

Kelle that's adorable!

too sorry to hear about C. It's good that she has gained a bit though. I wouldn't wake her either! You know best, especially having dealt with similar with DD1. Hope the referral helps.

Interesting you ask about nappies. Faithlet has been in size 1 nappies but now that's she's a bit bigger I bought size 2 dry night pampers (I had a money off coupon!). Took ages to settle her last night because of her reflux but she slept 10-6! Stirred so I went to the loo, came back to feed her - she's gone back to sleep! Currently expressing. Dunno if the nappy helped?!

ratbag baby only cries at night during a change, or about 5/6am sometimes if she has gas she gets wriggly and upset.

ruddy pampers baby dry don't have the netting in, or at least the sz3 ones we have don't! apparently they are a bargain too, my mum bought them in asda, 2x 128 packs for £20

kelle we had a pee whilst changing situation this morning too. So irritating because means changing the mat liner and her outfit too, plus she gets really upset!

ruddy & essex thanks for your replies!

tattooedapril87 · 11/06/2013 07:39

the worst peeing accident we have had was during a crying nappy change Woody pee'd into his own mouth :,(

Teapig · 11/06/2013 08:53

ruddy Sainsbury s Little Ones are our nappy of choice. Asda Little Angles are good too.

candy we have yet to dtd and DD is nearly 7 weeks. I've needed all the sleep I could get and having had stitches I've been in no rush. I couldn't feel less sexy at the moment.

bird I have a wedding to go to and will be taking DD so I'll need to BF. I searched online for BF dresses and there are some lovely ones but all above my budget so I'm going down the skirt and top route. Weddings are such a good excuse to buy something nice.

too I hope the referral helps.

We didn't get a repeat of the 7 hours last night but did get a straight 5 hours which I'm very happy with, just hoping she drop back down to 2-3.

Mama1980 · 11/06/2013 09:30

Morning all
Alex also had a poo everywhere incident this morning. I am using pampers at the moment Alex seems to pee a lot and they hold this better I find. Trish- your idea of stocking up with them at mothercare with the vouchers was genius by the way thanks Grin
I have also got Alex the Elc baby percussion mat, it's a little hard for him at the moment but he is loving lying on it and having it make noise.

Trishstar · 11/06/2013 09:33

Glad it came in handy Bec!! xx

brackengirl · 11/06/2013 11:56

ruddy another one for Asda little angels nappies here, I tried all sorts with DD1 and they were definitely my favourites, also they are nearly always on offer. E is still pooing pretty much every feed, she is definitely a one in one out girl, I think I have changed 3 nappies in her entire life that have not had poo in! She is also a pickle for weeing during a change, at night we only have a low light and I change her on the floor so often the first thing I know is when my knees have that warm, wet feeling!

We had 10- 4:30 last night which was lovely, and went to a really good weigh in clinic this morning. Our local one is in the Dr's and is packed but this was lovely with a stay and play and you can weigh baby yourself and don't have to see a HV if you don't want to which is a complete plus in my book! E is 9lb 7oz at 7 weeks and is sitting nicely on the 25th centile which reassured me as she doesn't always feed for very long and can be quite fussy as well.

Hope everyone has a good day even though the sun seems to have disappeared.

HadALittleFaithBaby · 11/06/2013 16:19

Quiet day at home, has been lovely! Faithlet has snoozed a fair bit but stayed asleep in the bouncy chair (Don't like to put her in the Moses basket too soon after feeding because of the reflux, even tilted). Jabs done, not as bad as I'd expected. Obviously she screamed and cried real tears (!) but she's feeding now. Didn't cry too much in the car. It's tough to do something you know will hurt but better than the alternative!

OP posts:
CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 11/06/2013 17:11

Faith mine had jabs today too, was expecting him to be grizzly but he's been okSmile he feels a bit warm high so keeping an eye on his temp but it is quite muggy here today. Otherwise an unproductive day to be honest.... Need to catch up on housework ASAP!

itsaruddygame · 11/06/2013 17:54

Thanks all for the nappy tips! Have bought some little angels ones and am going to try the pampers over night ones minus the netting.

H has not napped at all today as I have been in the house Ll afternoon with my (much) younger sister who is revising for her gcse's. I normally get him to nap by going out .... not sure what's going to happen tonight!
