Thought I had stumbled into the Tack Room...

pass both my girls have ignored the Gro Clock. I am hoping J will be different.

Today he has had a rusk for lunch, as finger food, and then for dinner had broccoli and cauli finger food I have a feeling I will be finding broccoli for many weeks to come as it went everywhere

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 19:36

Evening all.

pennie you have my particular sympathy. Wine
pp I am disappointed in your mum. I don't know her and have no business feeling anything but I just think thy so many grannies would give their eye teeth to be so near their grand babies and she could be such a rock for you.

ChasingDaisy · 14/05/2013 19:39

VQ so brave of you! Did I tell you that I put a freshly washed jumper on at the weekend and found broccoli on it?! Grin

Getting worried about PR. Even the mention of up the bum paracetamol earlier in the thread hasn't brought her out to play Confused

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 19:43

Good job VQ! J will be scoffing steak in no time.

Interesting YW. I was really pleased with the appointment today even though I feel bad/stupid for not twigging that P is in pain when she refuses bottles. Usually 1 a day gets rejected or she has tiny amounts. Then she gags, gargles and cries. I don't know why I presumed it would be every bottle. Thinking about it it is usually the same bottle every day. Dafty. Actually YW tell me about your preferance for administering omeprazole please. The doc has written 'suspension' on the letter to my GP. He has prescribed 5ml.

ChasingDaisy · 14/05/2013 19:44

Think we are definitely in regression city here. Half an hour and he's awake already. P has been despatched. I wonder if weaning is contibuting by keeping his digestive system working more overnight.

pig I think O and F are destined to be soul mates. Could have a quiche wedding in 30 years time Grin

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 19:44

Should someone stalk PR? Facebook and or PM?

BigPigLittlePig · 14/05/2013 19:54

PurplePidjin · 14/05/2013 19:56

Thanks, Pass, i wondered if i was being completely unreasonable expecting some practical support, or if she's doing enough one evening a week plus ad hoc shopping and coffee. I don't want her coming round to scrub my floors or owt but she could maybe take him out for an hour so i can clean or sleep? Dp is fab but he does too much which delays his recovery Sad

Haven't tried finger food yet, but the way he handled his bikkipeg earlier suggests it's worth a try but not broccoli until i get a bigger oil cloth

PurplePidjin · 14/05/2013 19:58

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 19:59

Incontinence products . . . Oh wait

YellowWellies · 14/05/2013 19:59

Pass I prefer omeperazole in tablet form as less 'gacky' we mix the losec MUPS tablet with 10ml water and give him 6.5ml twice a day (bumped up from 6ml as he's grown and his symptoms have worsened) by oral syringe. Once he's reliably polishing off solids (he's not been keen on avocado puree - looks like he dislikes the taste but I wonder if his throat's sore) you can add it to food.

Don't feel bad about not spotting the reflux - it was my sister today that spotted it with J - I thought it was his teeth bothering him but I'm sure, now she said it, that she was right. Fingers crossed upping his dose will help. Would rather avoid the faff of domperidone if possible - don't you have to give lots of doses a day? Also not keen on anything which gives him an empty belly at night now I've just got him back sleeping.....

BigPigLittlePig · 14/05/2013 20:00

Comparing nappy contents ours

MsJupiterJones · 14/05/2013 20:06

I was told to give white bread to start with as wholemeal has too much fibre and can cause upset tummies, anyone else heard this?

We normally eat naice seeded brown mmmm but I had bought basic white bread for the toast fingers.

PurplePidjin · 14/05/2013 20:16

Bickiepegs

Do you think I'll have enough warning to run up some grown up sized trainer pants on the sewing machine or will i have to use sposies?

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 20:19

YW p is prescribed 1.5ml domperidone 4xdaily. She has never had it 4 times daily because it doesn't work with her feeding routine. I now give her two doses a day because it seems to work fine.

TheDetective · 14/05/2013 20:25

Ewan has been re-employed. Redundant no more.

We almost got self settling. ALMOST!!!!!

It would have been a major fucking miracle if it had!

He was fussing when I tried putting him to sleep. I'm so worn out from fighting at bedtime, when he is clearly tired. In desperation for my poor arms and back, I dumped him in the moses basket, which is inside the cot. Put white noise on one side of him, and Ewan harping away on the other. Instantly he stopped fighting to stare at Ewan. His eyes closed after a few minutes, and I ran downstairs, even though he was still a bit fidgety.

After about 7-8 minutes he started to moan. Left him for a few more minutes until he started properly crying.

Went back in, picked him up, and he looked really sleepy. So I rocked him in his preferred position fucking kills me though in a gentle yeah right sway in time to Ewan. He fought for about 2-3 minutes. I noticed if I closed my eyes he closed his. So in the end I was stood in his room, with Ewan clamped under my chin, swaying rhythmically with my eyes shut. Hmm

Please tell me when this will be over?!

Oh, the best bit was I was able to put him in the basket quickly, rather than the millions of failed transfers we've been having at night. Funnily enough it is only at night that this has been happening.

StuntNun · 14/05/2013 20:31

The Gro clock wasn't a success here, it was a bit too subtle for DS1.

Chasing the Weaning Made Easy book is a good read but you really only need to read it once, it's not the kind of thing you keep referring back to as it's more about the ethos of combining purees with blw-type foods and doesn't have a lot of recipes in. If you'd like to borrow it PM me with your address and I'll post it to you.

I'm starting my first ever diet Shock as I think I might need to lose a couple of stone. I'm looking at Dr John Briffa's low-carb diet which is scary as I find the whole 'carbs make you fat' concept a bit weird. But there's no calorie restriction on the diet, just carb restriction so I think it's ideal for someone that's breastfeeding. The low carb bootcamp thread on MN has some suggestions for adaptations while breastfeeding to prevent going into ketosis. Has anyone done a diet like this before? It's not as extreme low-carb as Atkins but it's very anti-sweeteners and processed foods which fits in with my food ethos. I'm hoping to switch over gradually so I'm starting my cutting out crisps and cakes and switching my breakfasts from carb-based to low carb.

Oh I nearly forgot to ask the other bfing quichesters, does your baby wriggle a lot while feeding? J arches his back, pumps his legs, turns his head from side to side and flails around with his arms. It's actually quite difficult to hold on to him when I'm feeding him.

Stunt only when reflux is around. Usually she strokes my boobies. And pauses every so often to coo or moo at them.

ValiumQueen · 14/05/2013 20:59

Stunt J did that. The girls never did. He does not so that with a bottle unless his reflux is playing up.

Less of the talk of 30 years time as I am twice as old as most of you! Grin

Pass and YW, I wish someone gave a shit about whether my boy was properly medicated Hmm

The Gro Clock could do with a stern voice telling them to go the fuck to sleep.

ValiumQueen · 14/05/2013 21:02

Detective it can take as long as six weeks for the full effect of the formula to be seen, plus he is in 6 month regression territory. It will pass. Look at your DS1. It will pass.

Elizadoesdolittle · 14/05/2013 21:21

We use the gro clock and DD1 has really taken to it. I'd never be without it now. She has always been a great sleeper but used to call us straight away upon waking. Since it's been light she used to call us if she woke up but really could do with going back to sleep. We have it set on 8 o'clock on a week day and 8.30 on a weekend Blush She happily plays in her room till the sun comes up and then knocks on our door and doesn't enter until we say come in! How the fuck she became so polite in this area I'll never know.

Swimming was so much fun. E absolutly loved it and didn't cry when given a dunking. DD1 loved showing off her swimming skills to E. We haven't had to have a tube put in for 3 weeks so it made me really sad when we had to go to the hospital to get it put back. We've got a SALT appointment on Thursday and then another way in and dietician chat on Friday. Hopefully we can start reducing the amount that goes down it. I want rid now. But understand it has to be done in a controlled manner.

TheDetective · 14/05/2013 21:23

DS1 never did any of this! He slept through the fucking night. I am sure there were no regressions! I would remember!!

Passmethecrisps · 14/05/2013 21:27

VQ could you press for a paediatric referral? I have no idea how these things work.

P's bedroom smells like every surface has been smeared with Vicks. I bought a calpol vapour plug today and it's pretty strong. Fingers crossed she sleeps better tonight. She actually fell asleep on me again!

pp those things look like boneos!
