Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 04/05/2013 05:18

41 minutes!!! Will bring him in our bed now I guess :(

PetiteRaleuse · 04/05/2013 05:44

Morning. Jst needed a dummy during the night so can consider it 8 hours. It's going to warm today I think it's a gorgeous morning. The kind of morning where I want to get everyone up and announce we're off to the hills for the day. Except we aren't as more exciting stuff like the post office and the pharmacy await.

Pikz · 04/05/2013 06:22

Yay! He must be feeling better again. 11 hours woop.

VQ and det in so sorry your stuck in treacle. Hope there is solutions soon.

Fatima have an ace time!

Hi GT!

Luis go medium

YW excited for J first night in his room

Pikz · 04/05/2013 06:23

PR we have that sort of weekend.

When skiing I found French pharmacies hardly sell anything. Is that true?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/05/2013 06:49

Morning. Slow Saturday here.

det I am appalled about the fruit shoot incident.

We are starting protein this weekend Shock I am going to make up lentils, chicken and grapes, Popeyes pasta and maybe a mince thing to stick my freezer. He love purees and I give him Bits of finger food to play with while I cear up.

O is sitting up really well, loving nursery and really growing up fast.

Proteins mean weaning off the dream feed! We are down to 3 oz which he doesn't really wake for.

PetiteRaleuse · 04/05/2013 07:08

pikz I don't find that to be true. There are a lot of meds that you can buy over the counter that here we need a prescription for though. Other than that most pharmacies have a good selection of overpriced stuff

wannabedomesticgoddess · 04/05/2013 07:09

Morning all.

Still down to two wakings. I realise how lucky we are.

I have been naughty. In the last two days S has had a puree of three fruits, butternut and heinz egg custard. I have no experience of intolerances/allergies which perhaps explains the laissez faire attitude. But perhaps its too reckless? I realise how lucky we are on that front too.

All you mums dealing with reflux and intolerances and sleepless nights are amazing. I dont know how you do it.

Today we are going to a farm. MIL and SIL are coming. They are nice so its good. Taking a picnic, woke up to the smell of the ham in the SC. And made some rocky road last night. Yum! Lets hope for good weather!

Cacacaz · 04/05/2013 07:13

detective I'm joining you with judgey pants. Just read on Facebook that DH's cousin gave her 3 month old baby white chocolate buttons yesterday. As if that's not bad enough, it's the fact that they seem to find it hilarious.

izzy boo to shit nights.

fatima have a fantastic holiday

fruitpastilles · 04/05/2013 07:24

Morning, an ok night here with S, just a couple of wakes for a dummy, dp on the other hand decided to put the heating in for an hour last night and fell asleep downstairs, he woke me up coming to bed and the house was soooo stuffy I couldn't get back to sleep then.

chasing was it you who mentioned a flat head? S has a really flat head and a big bald spot, I was quite worried by how flat it is, it seems flatter than most. The HV said it will round out as she gets older but that was ages ago and it hasn't. My cousins LO had to wear a helmet for 6 months when she was S's age but hers was just flat on one side.

fruitpastilles · 04/05/2013 07:24

Oh and fatima have a lovely holiday not jealous or anything

Dixiebell · 04/05/2013 07:27

Chasing, Teddy has developed some one-sided flatness on his head. Exactly the same as ds1 did. I tried to be careful with sleeping him facing different directions this time round, but has developed exactly the same. I think it may be inevitable when they sleep on backs for some babies. But ds1's became barely noticeable, at 2.5 you wouldn't say it looked flat although mummy can tell by feeling his head. Ds1's was commented on by the paediatrician at 8 weeks but she said its v common and she saw much worse cases and it sorts itself out as they grow and spend less time on their backs. You can also get pillows that are supposed to help. The only treatment is helmets but that's a bit extreme. If O can turn his head properly, then it's prob fine. But of course talk to gp if you are worried.

ValiumQueen · 04/05/2013 08:18

Morning all.

Luis what is the long medium or short term thing? I think it makes a difference as to what the context is.

ChasingDaisy · 04/05/2013 08:27

Morning all

Thanks for flat head feedback. It is just on one side. Think it is from when he slept in his Moses basket as he was always in the same position. He can turn his head both ways without a problem. I think I will take him to the GP as it certainly isn't getting any better. I do wonder if that is contributing to his poor night sleep.

I have my judgey pants prepped and ready for an IL family lunch today. Things likely to get me hoiking are SIL's baby in uncomfortable clothes and eating unsuitable foods.

Evilwater · 04/05/2013 08:41

Morning been up since 6 :(
Sorry to read about the bad nights.
We all had a good sleep, in our house. Here's hoping for a better day. n had some porridge this morning! Yay!!!

chasing - thinking of you.

Have posted this on Facebook but to anyone really! Ladies, I'm at a loss. Been having issues with etienne in his own room. Waking frequently etc. last night wasnt very good. Put him down at 10.30, took half an hour to settle and he woke every 10-20 minutes hysterical. I'd tilted his cot more as his reflux seemed worse yesterday but to no improvement. By 1am we decided to bring him into our room into his pram, where he fell straight off and didn't wake once. Now he just fits His pram. Literally. So tonight, I think I'm going to try again in his cot, but if he's unsettled put the pram in there to see if its a room issue or bed issue. What if he just feels too exposed in the cot bed? Is there something else we can try? I've seen inserts which last them till their 8-9 months but obv it's not that far away. If its a room issue I guess it's not too tricky, I can sleep on the floor and gradually move out. Or maybe it's a growth spurt and he just needs comfort? Any ideas? What would you do? He's normally so happy to go down? But this last week has been tricky.

det I think people genuinely do not know what's healthy and what's not. A girl I went to school with posted a photo of her 10 week old baby eating a rusk. Eating should perhaps be in inverted commas. Same as McDonald's etc. I just think people lose perspective.

pr I'm ok thanks after my accident. Both of us are. The horse is still stupid. Last Saturday she was tied up to the fence post. With twine to the post, lead rope through it. She pulled back and usually the twine snaps, but no, the entire fence panel comes away. Thankfully I kept hold of her as she'd have killed herself and others had she got onto the road. I just think she's one of those horses.

Passmethecrisps · 04/05/2013 08:48

chasing if you really must interact with the ILs then the very least you get in return is some pant hoiking. Wonder what the wee soul will be eating today? A full pork pie?

I am sorry VQ and det that things are still so hard. Is colief worth trying VQ? I know it is very expensive but might be worth a try. It is a total minefield and I well remember the anxieties of trying to find the perfect combination. We used IG alongside ranitidine for months VQ so I cannot see that there will be any issue. Moving to carobel changes the consistency of poo but in all honesty P is sometimes just as uncomfortable passing them. I think she tries too hard.

Passmethecrisps · 04/05/2013 08:53

horsey I have given my thoughts on Facebook. I do think E sounds like he is freaking out when he wakes. Carrycot in cot is where I would start.

Anyone watching BBC breakfast? Det?

Clarella · 04/05/2013 08:56

oh dear for shit nights. and reflux shit. Sad 4 or 5 wakes here but sleeping well between and not waking in tears Smile

woke at 4 myself feeling sick, still think I'm going to puke Angry eddy izzard tonight so it had better do one.

actually g still has talapes on one foot so might ask if need a physio referral for that and see what they think of his neck. he's a flat head at back too but fx it'll round out soon!

horseylady · 04/05/2013 08:56

pass def starting there, with my t shirt with him too.

Clarella · 04/05/2013 08:57

horsey I'd probably do pram for a couple of nights then carry cot (is that same?) in his room and take from there?

ValiumQueen · 04/05/2013 08:59

Thank you Pass. J's poos are no longer constipated thank goodness. Still horrid green colour but he is going once or twice a day with no discomfort at all.

Not sure about colief as it works by breaking down lactose and he is on lactose free.

This morning he has had ranitidine 1 hr after milk and he seems fine.

StuntNun · 04/05/2013 09:06

Sorry I haven't been on guys, the sixth-month growth spurt has been all-consuming as we're back to two-hours between feeds. A couple of thoughts I wanted to share: please don't stress if your baby isn't opening their mouth for solids, it's still early days yet. Concentrate on making food time interesting and relaxed and don't push it at this point. And my unconventional suggestion for babies that won't take a bottle or sippy cup is to try a shot glass. Obviously you need to hold it for them at this age but my DS2 used a shot glass for ages. I think the size is good for a toddler to manage easily, particularly the curvature of the rim. Just my two cents.

Clarella I too have woken feeling really shit and sicky. DP joked I was hungover (I had 2 small drinks and this doesnt feel like a hangover Confused ) right before buggering off up north for the day/night. I feel dreadful. My mum and dad are coming in an hour to take M out for the day - something which they are ridiculously excited about Hmm ! Is it possible I am jetlagged? That's what this feels like and DP gave me almost 10 hours solid sleep last night. I havent slept for that long in about 8 months. I felt dreadful after getting 4 hours the other week.

Horsey no advice sorry but the idea of carrycot in the actual cot seems a sound starting point.
