Poor J has caught the sun from his daddy taking him out to the steam rally today. Apparently hats and suncream are for wimps. Hmm DH and DS2 have caught it a bit too but DS1 is alright. I was sensible and stayed inside studying! J is very unsettled - lots of crying - could that be an effect of the sun too?

Yes sunburn can make them crabby stunt

I hope you bollocked your DH baby skin can burn and blister so easily

PurplePidjin · 06/05/2013 18:33

VQ he gets boob before every meal, and after if he wants it

StuntNun · 06/05/2013 18:38

Fortunately he's just a bit red, I don't think his skin will peel (the advantages of being a quarter West Indian I suppose). It wasn't sunny here until the evening, it's been overcast all day so I think DH just didn't realise. DS1 and DS2 spend a lot of time playing outside anyway so they have a bit of a tan built up already. I tend to avoid the sun as I get millions of freckles a bad headache afterwards.

I remember that too stunt - bloody men!!

I am 101% certain I do not need to POAS. Unless DP knows something I don't Hmm . I am actually worried this is a blood sugar thing as I am feeling sick if I don't eat for a while then temporarily worse after eating. I am also craving sugar a lot Confused . Will give it a few days and if no better make an appointment.

In other news, WE HAVE A HOUSE VIEWING TOMORROW!! We have found our potential first home to buy and after driving past it today DP doesnt hate it either Grin Grin Grin this is a massive plus point as the ex architect has dismissed everything else I am super excited and trying not to get my hopes up in case the number crunchers say no. Only downside is it is tiny, you could fit the whole thing in the lounge of our rental house. But less space less clutter? Anyway, I am very excited Grin

Hope everyone has had a lovely bank holiday Smile

Lily311 · 06/05/2013 18:40

No furniture shopping, just made a list. Will go to ikea at the weekend.

O's right hip is not developing. She needs to wear special nappies ( it foes over the normal nappy, it is very wide and hard between her legs, will put pic on facebook) and intensive physio starts later this week. It's curable. She also rolled over for the first time, only had to wait 5.5 months.

She poos all the time. 5 yest, 5 today. Is it normal? She did 2 before.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 06/05/2013 18:52

Two sleeps til holiday.

Need to pack!

Dreading J on the plane..hope he doesn't scream!

StuntNun · 06/05/2013 19:04

Give something to him to suck on the descent (boob/bottle/dummy) to stop his ears popping Izzy.

OP posts:
Lily311 · 06/05/2013 19:06

Izzy, o was crying a bit on the plane. Nothing you can do. Don't stress yourself, they are only little. O cried, drunk milk, slept, played and cried again.

BigPigLittlePig · 06/05/2013 19:12

All I will say is, I hope splashing about in a paddling pool all afternoon proves to be as exhausting for little pig as it has been for mummy pig.

MsJupiterJones · 06/05/2013 19:21

Izzy, L screamed blue murder on our first plane flight and was quiet as a mouse on the way back.

Differences were:

Return journey he was sleepy (plane wasn't delayed which helped - flight out he napped at the airport and woke up just as the plane took off)

Feeding/dummy/distractions on return (we tried that on the way out but didn't work as he was clearly having some ear pressure pain)

Gave him a dose of Calpol an hour before the return flight!

Hope that helps...

Pikz · 06/05/2013 19:41

Izzy bottle on the way up and mummy's fingers to suck in way down worked for us Smile

ChasingDaisy · 06/05/2013 19:53

I've been here refreshing all day but been too tired to post. Feeling exhausted from the daily grind and my perfect housewife act is starting to slip. O has had no solids today so hoping for a better night. Going to give his tummy a rest for a few days at least as I don't think he is quite ready.

I think we definitely have some teeth action going on here. Has been going on for at least a month so am hoping for an actual tooth soon. He is extremely dribbly, has hot gums, chews everything and rubs his ears. Calms down after teething gel. From what I can tell though, you can never be completely sure they are teething until the little buggers show themselves.

Pikz · 06/05/2013 20:17

Arrrhgh am struggling with a baby who won't be held by anyone but me, nanny or DP and has a sudden hatred of pushchairs. Any advice?

BigPigLittlePig · 06/05/2013 20:19

Who knows whether teeth actions going on here!

Chasing we've been taking weaning very slowly here, as am terrified of causing more tummy grief. Pear puree is a firm favourite of Fs, she's had an icecube of that every day. Might try butternut squash tomorrow, although am a little scared of luminous vom at baby group if it disagrees with her!

Lily F has accidentally flipped over once, but shows no inclincation to do it again. How long will O have to wear the brace for?

ValiumQueen · 06/05/2013 20:20

pass have you bought your Calms yet?

J was asleep but fucking wind woke him so he is downstairs smiling at me.

Izzy two sleeps? I love your optimism! Grin

Passmethecrisps · 06/05/2013 20:21

Haylo.

Quiet day today!

DH decided to take a half day today so we ended up braving a heavy skies and going a lovely walk round the posh part of town. I love looking at the enormous Victorian and Georgian houses wondering what the people who own them do. Many are utterly beautiful and pristine but there are a fair few which have an air of faded gentility about them. I'll bet they have stories to tell.

Before this I made a very small amount of carrot purée and apple purée. Both tastes delicious actually. The carrots are incredibly sweet and the apples were overripe so also super sweet. They wouldn't have been nice to eat normally but went through a sieve nicely. I actually think I might need to give her something else first as the carrot is like a dessert. I bought butternut squash as well. What about frozen peas? Anyone doing that? I will do a few every day this week so we have a lovely bank for starting next week. We popped into our local before we came home and p was all suck face and grabby arms at my drink Hmm I am sure there will be an AIBU about us later!

In other news I have a poo question. Young miss P didn't do any poo for over 2 days last week. She did one yesterday which was relatively normal. Today she has done 3 - almost unheard of - which are absolutely rank to smell (eggy to the max. She did one when we were out a walk and we thought it was a broken catalytic converter) and bright yellow. Also incredibly mucousy. Anyone got any ideas? She doesn't seem unwell and while she has licked some melon she hasn't eaten any solids at all. DH thought her breath smelled earlier.

Also, I have my own health question but I shall save that delight for later!

So lovely to see people's pics of babies in the sunshine! Even if they do go a bit red!

ValiumQueen · 06/05/2013 20:21

J has yet to roll, but he can cover some distance pushing with his legs.

Passmethecrisps · 06/05/2013 20:22

Yes VQ! Thank you my lovely! Last night I think I slept better than I have in many months.

Passmethecrisps · 06/05/2013 20:26

A little girl at baby sensory has had a red hot cheek for weeks now. Every week I ask her mum if the teeth have shown - nothing. Nothing for weeks. Poor wee sausage! Very occasionally I give P some teething gel if she is mumping and I can't work out what is wrong with her. She has been an avid nommer and biter of things for months and dribbles gallons so it is hard to tell. It usually does chill her out so who knows. DH is a big fan.

Passmethecrisps · 06/05/2013 20:26

pikz sling? Would he go in the car seat on the buggy if you have a travel system?

Pikz get a sling - wrap or mei tai best, ergo/manduca/beco/wompat etc good if you need buckles. Not babybjorn, tomy, chicco, mothercare etc they aren't comfortable for either you or baby.

Going to try a df tonight at 10 if i can stay awake that long see if i can get him to go a bit longer and at a better time for me Hmm
