Detective in some ways it's easier when every night is utter shite. You get used to it. The randomness is tricky - when F was sleeping 8-3-7, she'd occasionally throw a curveball and wake up loads just because she could and it would near enough finish me off.

ChasingDaisy · 05/05/2013 08:54

What pig said. I can just about cope with two night feeds. Any more and I really struggle. You really do just adapt to it.

BigPigLittlePig · 05/05/2013 09:03

I feel like in the past few days, massive backwards steps have been taken. She is impossible to get to nap - it used to take 5 minutes to get her to sleep, now she is hysterical and it takes a good 20-30 minutes, for no more than a 30 minute nap. Plus shit night sleep. What the fuck is going on??? I really thought that, at nearly 6 months old, she would have cracked this sleeping shit.

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 05/05/2013 09:04

PR, I am so jealous of your day, it sounds amazing Envy

Big hugs to Lily, i hope your LO is better soon.Q

Stay strong chasing, when you're ready to leave you'll have friends in whichever area of the UK you choose to move to, due to this Fred.

Sorry you're not feeling great clarella and that you missed Eddie. We love him here, we went to see him about three years ago in Liverpool.

Sorry you had such a shit night det. The pizza sounds erm, interesting? I've not tried that, not sure I will either! I made chicken rendang out of the taste of Asia cookbook last night, it tasted amazing.

B had her first bottle of formula last night, it was a great success! I gave it her as a dream feed at 10, she downed 7oz and slept through till 7.30am. I am now going to do this every night.

I hope it's hot here today, I've bought stuff for a BBQ.

Passmethecrisps · 05/05/2013 09:07

Morning.

I second the sentiment about having total respek for people who cope with multiple waking a overnight. Randomly P woke at about 3ish. She seemed tired initially but multiple dummy returns and Ewan noise didn't work. Then she decided just to make it get up time. She was happy enough so I tried to ignore her but I can't. The she started to get pissed off as she obviously wanted to be asleep but was too awake to manage alone. Eventually I gave up and shoosh patted her with some rocking. I got back into bed at 5am thinking that maybe she would sleep longer. Nope. Singing again at 6:50. She has forgotten how to self-settle. Boo. She is in bed again now having done the 3 day poo she has been needing.

Oh. In the middle of all of this the cat decided she would help by coming in to P's room and singing a lullaby. DH silently appeared on the room picked the cat up and carried her off. She waited patiently for me to return and eased me to sleep by sitting on my arse. Obviously move and squishy.

YellowWellies · 05/05/2013 09:08

8.30-10.30-5.30-9 only one night waking where I had to haul ass out of bed. Hell yes! Also he is the most delightful smiley wee soul in the morning. Right off to (baby free!) yoga - have a good one xxx

YellowWellies · 05/05/2013 09:11

Pass my mog sleeps on my arse too. He was also the subject of a night waking - an evil banshee cat came in the cat flap and started caterwauling - poor Mr Cat needed my assistance to evict it. Yes that is his name Blush

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 05/05/2013 09:11

Sorry if my post about sleeping through was insensitive. She's been waking a lot recently, it was just to say how successful the formula was.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 05/05/2013 09:21

Sleep???? I don't think I know what this anymore :(

Passmethecrisps · 05/05/2013 09:23

Pha to that toomany! How on earth would we all cope if it wasn't for people coming on to say "they fucking did it!!! Yahoo!!" It's the only way of knowing that everything does, indeed, pass.

ValiumQueen · 05/05/2013 09:25

Dicks we are really pleased for you x

We will have a fucking party when Izzy gets a good night (((hug))

MissMummy1 · 05/05/2013 09:30

Hugs izzy

My sleepdodger was only content in my bed last night. This is a massive backwards step. Envy

Passmethecrisps · 05/05/2013 09:31

Evil neighbour cat YW. Thankfully pussy is an indoor cat so her space is only invaded by her own imagination. We are also fierce defenders of pussy territory. Neighbour cats like to come and stare in the French doors thus turning pussy into a frantic furball of fear and fury. I have been known to chase said pussies across the lawn yowling.

Mr Cat is an awesome name.

ValiumQueen · 05/05/2013 09:33

It is far too early for pussy talk.

Passmethecrisps · 05/05/2013 09:34

Big hugs to izzy

StuntNun · 05/05/2013 09:42

Look at the thread title again BigPig, it might explain LittlePig's recent ishoos.

Nice one Dicks it's lovely to get a good night's sleep.

I had a luvverly bath Grin but J is asleep in his cot, still in his pyjamas without having had breakfast despite me leaving clothes laid out for him and instructing DH to mash banana or make porridge or indeed make banana porridge for him. Sigh.

OP posts:
Clarella · 05/05/2013 09:43

ah that's great dicks!

not sure what was going on last night suffice to say weird and shit but I wondered if it was teething at bedtime as the last feed which is usually both breasts was interrupted and he was interrupted.

feel physically better thanks. just getting so down about stuff. feels like he's more needy than a newborn and all this medication is doing our heads in. some feeds I'm really struggling with. or rather he is. huge argument with dh over his 'forgetting' ti give nystatin on Friday as thrush still there. I just felt it's unsupportive as I'm trying to preserve our bf relationship, get feeding back on track and hopefully also sleep. and we don't need thrush! I didnt realise how much it can affect feeding too so now am feeling like I'm going mad regarding reflux etc. all I know is pillows and gavisgon have helped. we really don't know how much omeprozole he's getting if any. he's spitting it all out from what I can see. so with no gavisgon maybe that didn't help. sorry to ask again but how else could omeprozole be taken? think detective mentioned tablets? doc had no idea. tempted to ask for ranitadine as doc read out all the different ways that comes as it's been around for longer.

annoyingly amongst my nct group more babies than not appear to have the whole sleep thing sorted. which doesn't help either of me or dh as he thinks we're doing wrong and I loose confidence as a mum.

trying to count blessings. its a beautiful day and we're going for g's first swim lesson later Smile

Clarella · 05/05/2013 10:04

hugs izzy

BigPigLittlePig · 05/05/2013 10:14

But stunt, just no. No! She's only just done with the 4 month one, and only just turned 5 months.

In all seriousness though, it does seem like reflux again so have got some ebm defrosting for gaviscon tonight. We'll be away to the GP for a spot of munchausening next week.

Hopes everyone gets my terrible joke and doesn't think I'm an actual psycho

Just pureed some melon. F slurped down 2 spoons of melon flavoured water puree.

Evilwater · 05/05/2013 10:59

Morning all,
Do I get the prize for the first snot bubble lasting a minute? Finally he is asleep for his morning nap, so I have to be quick. Nite went well, he had porridge for breakfast and was interested in it. Grin

I can add to the crap nights. two wakes and feeds made worse by ds2 coming in our bed twice. glands up today and wisdom tooth attempting to grow so feel crap. DH has taken big boys shopping so me and Y are chilling.

no teeth yet but wish they would hurry up.

Y is brilliant and the happiest of chappies so just riding it out until he realizes that sleep is cool again dh better bring back chocolate

StuntNun · 05/05/2013 12:10

No sign of any teeth here Pennie at 24 weeks.

YellowWellies · 05/05/2013 12:10

Clarella ask for omeperazole in tablet form (we use losec mups) which you mix with water and give by oral syringe. Much less pukey than the liquid.

ValiumQueen · 05/05/2013 12:50

I have papaya and I am not afraid to use it. First time for all of us actually.

J nap dodged yesterday, but is making up for it today. Put down at 10 and still asleep. He has only had one bottle so far. He is in the pushchair as would not settle in the cot.

To those who are frustrated at babies no longer sleeping through at night, remember how very young they are, how fast they are growing and developing mentally etc. Their sleep patterns change, they are more aware of the fact they are awake and can be frightened or lonely, they may well not be hungry, but they want comfort for whatever reason. Please try to imagine what it is like for them, and be grateful they are sleeping better than Izzys little one. He definitely wins the award for sleep dodging.
