Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Glad you've got an appointment, Arti, the retching does seem like there is a bit coming back. I know some people who totally eschewed medication and basically kept their children upright for a year (but I also think they were all first babies whose parents could spend the time doing this). It is heartbreaking, especially when they scream in pain. But I have to say the experience doesn't seem to have traumatised B too much (even the weeks in hospital with tubes down his throat), he's a happy little soul in general (apart from currently when he's turned into a demon, but I think that's being 2 and a half). It is definitely harder on the parents.

It seems like I must have reflux radar as I hadn't posted in ages then suddenly saw this!

Am reading in Envy at the exercise antics of deids and rubes but may hopefully join them soon. Tomorrow I have an appt at the leaky ladies clinic where they will catheterise me and make me jump on a trampoline and cough etc (dignity left at the door, I assume). But it's to see if I really do need the surgery and, if so, hopefully that will happen soon.

Just this second found out I got the job! I have some mixed feelings about it as it's F/T and not my usual area of expertise, but hell, it's in Brighton and decent money for the area. Feels like the start of a whole new era! I think the boys will NOT be thrilled but I'm sure they'll get used to it. Eek!

Artichook · 18/06/2013 14:45

Ha ha! Just read back my last post which thanks to the iPhone is incomprehensible. Sorry guys! I particularly liked the substitution of "tan trimmed" for tantrummed.

Brilliant news about the job Spot! Congrats. What will you be doing?

DeidreBarlow · 18/06/2013 14:59

Oh spot I know I shouldn't giggle but your leaky lady clinic comments always make me grin! Excellent news on the job front too. I'm only shocked its taken this long for someone to see how fab you are and hire youSmile

I also burst out laughing today at our MD when he told us he wanted to be a tap dancer when he was youngerBlush

spotofcheerfulness · 18/06/2013 15:10

Aw, thanks folks. It's a press office job for a quango, arti, would out me if I wrote it on here but it's financial services related...

Rubena · 18/06/2013 15:32

Congrats spot!Grin

Arti I was wondering what tan trimming for 2 year olds was!

JamInMyWellies · 18/06/2013 17:22

Great news Spot!

Rubena · 18/06/2013 17:53

Really want some wine. So does Deids

I shall be strong

DeidreBarlow · 18/06/2013 18:38

Rubes I'm really tempted to ring DH at work and get him to stop at Tescos on the way homeGrinWine

DeidreBarlow · 18/06/2013 18:39

Actually it would be rude not to have a drink for spot, to celebrate her new job!!

Rubena · 18/06/2013 19:02

You're right. In crackin the Belvedere. "To Spot" Wine

spotofcheerfulness · 18/06/2013 19:42

Thank you! Up your bums n all that Grin

Honsandrevels · 18/06/2013 20:08

Hurrah Spot! That's great news. When do you start?

Vag dh did all the booking but I think some was through DB (German). He booked it whenever they were first released to get them cheapest. You could do all sorts of great trips from where you are!

I went into the bathroom earlier to find dd2 wiping dd1's bum after a poo. Lovely!

spotofcheerfulness · 18/06/2013 21:43

Start on 22nd July, Hons. Just as school holidays start (childcare nightmare looms Grin.
I am v impressed with your DDs, regardless of poo-relatedness of activity. I would never get that kind of cooperation in my house!

Artichook · 18/06/2013 22:15

Sybs, I've just remembered you said you were headed my way this week. Have I missed you? If not I would love to meet up and grab a coffee.

sybilfaulty · 19/06/2013 09:09

Huge congrats Spot. And good luck at leaky clinic. Thinking of you.

Arti, I am not coming to your neck of woods for ano 2 weeks. Will pm you to arrange a good time.

Must work. Have been prevaricating for an hour. Need to knuckle down.

Love to you all xxx

Mckayz · 19/06/2013 10:55

That is great news Spot. I hope the appointment at the clinic goes well.

Nolda · 19/06/2013 14:02

Well done on the job, Spot. Good luck with the wee. My DH is not looking forward to his urology appointment next week, when he gets an x-ray taken of him whilst he is weeing. At least he doesn't have to jump up and down!

Kayz, I hope the cake making is going well. I had already pinned the pig cake idea for my mother's b'day in October (she is another pig lover).

Deids and Arti, my DD who is the same age as both of yours, let slip yesterday that it's good behaviour at school that matters and what you do at home doesn't count (it explains a lot).

Vagolajahooli · 19/06/2013 14:03

Prevaricating? I have never heard that word before. I feel I've expanded my vocab Sybs, so what does it mean oh wise one?

Vagolajahooli · 19/06/2013 14:05

Awesome news on the job Spot, but will we see less of you?

Vagolajahooli · 19/06/2013 14:06

Nolda is your hubby ok?

Nolda · 19/06/2013 14:13

Vag, he needs another operation to deal with a pipe stricture. He had a minor bicycle accident as a teen which has had some repercussions. He will need a more involved procedure this time as the easy day surgery solution he had a few years ago didn't fix it for good. Hopefully, though they'll get it right this time.

Rubena · 19/06/2013 15:03

I never cracked that Vodka, but was there with you in spirit Spot. Hope the tight twot check went well...

Brilliant word Sybs! No, I haven't been hanging with Lady recently, rather just googled it Grin Might drop it into a convo with dh later....

Rubena · 19/06/2013 15:17

asked kids what dh needs to get from supermarket on way home:
ds: "apples, bananas, yogurt biscuits (belvita cereal biscuits), kids yogurt and weetbix"
dd: "chocolate, sweets, icecream, hmmm maybe bananas"

ds: "oh and don't forget the purple, green and yellow stuff mummy that you eat all the time, oh and wine"

me: " whats the yellow stuff and the purple stuff?" (I knew the green was the lettuce)

ds: "hmm dunno, that root stuff, and yellow apple but tell him don't forget the wine!"

(love him! - the wine kind of killed my healthy sounding-ness tho!)

translation beetroot and pineapple!

dd just came to me totally covered in bike grease - worst part is, she was in the garage with dh!!! that's how unobservant he is!

Artichook · 20/06/2013 07:25

I went out last night! Without DS! And stayed out late! And DS took a bottle (none of my kids have ever taken bottles)!

Scary story: SiL is 44, has 3 kids aged 14, 12 and 9. Last night she announced she is 26 weeks pregnant, she felt a baby kicking and went to the doctor and had a scan and there was a fully formed baby. She is in total shock, had recently gone back to work full time, just back from a SCUBA holiday.she was on the pill. Scary, scary.

I hope yr DH's OP goes ok Nolda.

And love your DS' assessment of your shopping needs Rubes. And your DD's sweet tooth.

Mckayz · 20/06/2013 07:33

Arti, that is bloody terrifying!! I would completely freak out.

DD is 1 today!!! Can't believe how fast it has gone
